The name on the gate leading into the pit area may have changed and the track layout is different, but Warkworth, Ontario's Derek Lynch is excited about returning the site of one of the biggest victories of his racing career.

"Its hard to believe its been 30 years," said the 46 year-old, when talking about his 1988 win at the McKerlie-Millen Classic, in a race that had more than 100 entries. "The former Cayuga Speedway has been very good to me over the years and it'll be great to get back there Saturday and Sunday, August 26th and 27th for a pair of 75 lap events with the APC Pro Late Model Tour".

His extensive motorsports calling began in karting in 1981 and transitioned to stock cars in 1986, Derek Lynch has an impressive resume behind the steering wheel and behind the scenes. His win list includes a U.S. Memorial Day checkered flag in 1994 at Thunder Road in Barre, Vermont, the Oxford 250 in 1994 and a NASCAR Pinty's Series victory at Cayuga, while being named NASCAR Pinty's Series Driver of the Year in 2007. Along the way, there were also selected starts on the NASCAR North Tour in 1995 and 1996, as well as events with the Ontario Super Late Model and ACT Series.

Lynch also logged time working in the North Carolina NASCAR shops of Bobby Allison Racing, Stavola Brothers, Darrell Waltrip Motorsports and Dale Earnhardt Incorporated. From 2004 to 2012, he was General Manager at Kawartha Speedway in Fraserville, Ontario; but his first love has always been turning laps at some of the finest raceways in North America.

"Everyone has been talking about the first ever event at Jukasa since the 2017 APC Pro Late Model schedule was announced," Lynch said. "I think the track will be similar to how I remember it, but with the new asphalt, there will likely be a ton of grip. We'll get a chance to run some practice laps to get a feel for the place and make some set-up notes prior to the race. That'll help get the car ready for action. From there, almost anything can happen."

In addition to the Twin 75's – that will also include NASCAR legend Ken Schrader – at Jukasa, Derek Lynch is also scheduled to run the Great Canadian 100 – Saturday, September 16th – at Delaware Speedway. Neither event would be possible without the help of his crew, including his father Dave Lynch, Bill Hasiuk, Kevin Ardron, Gene Depot and Bob Franks. Lynch also thanks his uncle Mike Lynch at Mike Lynch Auto Body for paint work on the car, along with Howie Crowe, Larry Crowe Sr. and Larry Crowe Jr.

Sponsorship support for the #15 Dodge Charger comes Jerry, Bob & Bill Hasiuk and their families at Hasiuk Trailer Rentals, Bryan Cathcart & Denise McCullough from Apsley-Peterborough Transport and John, Mark & Dave Stewart from J.J. Stewart Motors.

PASS South Teams Anticipate “New” South Boston This Weekend

PASS South Teams Anticipate "New" South Boston This Weekend

-       For Immediate Release

CHARLOTTE, NC (August 10) – After competing at Virginia's South Boston Speedway for over a decade, Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Model teams can throw their notes away as the prepare for this Saturday night's 150 lapper.  Over the winter, South Boston Speedway received a facelift that included the repaving of the 4/10-mile racetrack.

The South's original Super Late Model tour returns to South Boston led by two fan favorite's from nearby Durham, NC, the father-son duo of Jay and Tate Fogleman.  Jay, the former two-time PASS National Champion, recently tested at South Boston and while he might not know exactly what to expect on Saturday night, he is sure of one thing.

"It's fast, really, really fast," says Fogleman, driver of the Fogleman Soils Ford #8.  "The track is really smooth and has a ton of grip.  Usually we have at least two grooves at South Boston, but I'm not sure how it will play out this year with all the grip in the corners.  I think a lot of teams will be fast due to the grip and I think that will make qualifying and the redraw even more important than usual."

After stepping back in recent years to focus on his son Tate's racing career, Jay climbed back behind the wheel at Southern National in the most recent PASS South Super Late Model race and finished fifth.  While Tate continues to be the priority, Jay will be back behind the wheel this weeknd at South Boston hoping for a win, but with an eye towards the Oxford 250.

"Getting Tate wins and championships is still the priority for us, but me going back racing some gives us the chance to try and few things out and help him," says Fogleman.  "The only race where I will be the focus is the Oxford 250.  Tate is going to come up to Oxford and crew chief for me there, but other than that, I'm here to help him out as much as I can.  If I can get a win, that's great, but getting Tate some wins is still the focus.

Among the pre-entries, the Foglemans will be joined by championship contenders Matt Craig, Kodie Conner, Dave Farrington, Jr., and Sarah Cornett-Ching.  Kevin Powell returns to the driver's seat in the New Day Motorsports entry for the first time since being sidelined in a hard crash at Caraway Speedway a few years ago.  Jared Fryar will be back for his second straight PASS South start, while Virginia driver Tim Pinion returns to his homestate looking to raise awareness Fanconi Anemia Research.

All the action gets under way on Friday at South Boston Speedway with open practice for all competing divisions from 9 AM– 5 PM.  On Saturday, practice will begin at 2 PM with qualifying starting at 5 PM for the PASS South Super Late Models and NASCAR Late Model Stocks, followed by the pit party at 6 PM and main events scheduled to start at approximately 7 PM

PASS Super Late Model entry forms for South Boston Speedway, along with entry forms for the 44th Annual Scott's Recreation Oxford 250 presented by Fastway Trailer Products and the Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown 300 can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.

The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America's premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as the legendary Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway and PASS South's Easter Bunny 150 and Mason-Dixon MegaMeltdown 300 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway.  For technical information concerning all PASS divisions please send questions to passracing@roadrunner.com.  For media or marketing questions, please contact Alan Dietz at 704-231-2039 or alandietzpass@live.com.  And, don't forget to "Like" the Pro All Stars Series on Facebook or follow us on Twitter @PASSSLM14 to keep up with breaking news as it happens.

Connor James Joins the OMRS First Timer Club With a Flamboro Speedway Win

By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications/First Draft Media

Local racing series can't count on the same level of publicity or media coverage as their national counterparts. One of the best ways to get noticed is from the product they're able to put on the race track throughout the schedule.

The 2017 season for the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – powered by Torque Builders Inc. – has been able to garner its fair share of time in the spotlight for a number of reasons, including the group of drivers who've scored their first ever main event win on the series. The latest tour regular to add his name to that impressive statistic is 20 year-old Connor James of Bradford, Ontario who picked-up the checkered flag Saturday, August 5th at Flamboro Speedway.

Rob Warnes and Randy Hollingsworth brought the field to the green flag to kick-off the main event. With just a pair of laps complete, Chris Burrows and Duane Cinnamon were involved in an incident that knocked both cars out of action for the rest of the night.

Connor James – who has been turning-in some strong performances in recent weeks and made his first career Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series start at Flamboro on Canada Day – came from a starting spot on the outside of the second row and took his first career Ontario Modifieds Racing Series victory. Brad Stevenson, Rick Warnes, Rob Warnes and Willow Barberstock rounded-out the top 5. Randy Hollingsworth, Duane Cinnamon and Chris Burrows completed the running order.

Ontario Modifieds Racing Series notebook: Qualifying heats went to Brad Stevenson and Duane Cinnamon…John Baker Jr's tough 2017 season continued at Flamboro, as another bout of mechanical issues sidelined his #63 machine…After his own equipment was damaged in an incident at Peterborough Speedway, Robert Warnes wheeled a back-up car from his father's stable…The series returns to action Saturday, August 19th at Peterborough Speedway for the year's final Toonie Spectator Grandstand Admission/Fan Appreciation Night.

DIRTcar 358 Modified Series Starts Off at Autodrome Granby on August 11

By Martin Belanger

GRANBY, QC – August 9, 2017 – The DIRTcar 358 Modified Series will kickoff a busy three month schedule with the initial round of action at Autodrome Granby on Friday, August 11. Some of the best 358 Modified drivers will be in the hunt to win the coveted championship that includes 11 venues in total.

Autodrome Granby promoter Dominic Lussier is excited to host the Series opener for the first time.

"I am excited to host the first race of the series this season," said Lussie, who worked closely with the promotional team at Mohawk International Raceway to schedule the race. "This means that we will have many outsiders visiting us. John Lazore and I talked about this event and we made an agreement. Mohawk is having a remake for a 50-lap event on Thursday and then our race on Friday. If a driver is able to win both, he will get an extra $1,000. I think it is a great incentive to have more drivers in the pits for both nights."

After Granby, the Series will have a busy month of September starting off at Cornwall Motor Speedway on Sunday, September 3 before the Series makes its return to Can-Am Motorsports Park on Saturday, September 9. The following weekend, the drivers will head to Mohawk Speedway on Friday, September 15. Then, it will be two consecutive nights in Quebec with stops at RPM Speedway on September 22 and the following night at Autodrome Drummond onSeptember 23.

Drivers will then have two weeks to prepare for Super DIRT Week with four races scheduled during the exciting week of racing. Utica-Rome Speedway will kick-off Super Week activities on Tuesday, October 3. The Series then moves to Weedsport on October 4 and Brewerton on Thursday, October 5 and capping off at Oswego Speedway on October 7. The champion will be crowned the following week at Brockville Ontario Speedway on Saturday, October 14th.

Defending Series champion Chris Raabe will lead a group of drivers that includes Joey Ladouceur, Brian McDonald, Carey Terrance, Jordan McCreadie, Gage Morin and Luke Whitteker to Granby for the opening round. Local runners David Hebert, Steve Bernard, Mario Clair, Steve and Francois Bernier will be waiting for the challenge in the Lussier & Granby Chevrolet 100. Mohawk high points leader and Super DIRTcar Series Star Tim Fuller is also penciled-in to compete at Granby along with Danny Johnson, adding to a star studded field of cars.

Racing at Granby is scheduled to start at 7:00pm on Friday, August 11. Expect a full pit area as the first round of the DIRTcar Sportsman tour's Northern Region will also be on hand for a 50-lap event. For more information and ticket purchase, please visit the website at www.autodromegranby.com.
