Objet : Résumé Championnat mi-saison

-Autodrome Granby.

1              20                           Pierre-Olivier Breault

2              47                           Claude Cournoyer (recrue)

3              09J                          Jean-Philippe Guay

Barre, Vt. – Hometown driver Jason Corliss captured his second Thunder Road Late Model win of the season on Thursday, July 20, taking the lead just past the halfway point and holding on for the win on FairPoint Communications Night.

Corliss threaded his way through the field from his 11th starting position before a lap-27 caution brought him alongside polesitter Boomer Morris. After grabbing the lead on the restart, Corliss outgunned point leader Bobby Therrien in the closing circuits for his sixth career win.

Morris dominated the early stages of the event as Cody Blake, Kyle Pembroke and a pack of cars behind them dueled for second. Corliss managed to worked his way through to the second spot just a lap before Blake and Ricky Roberts tangled fighting for the third spot. Pembroke fell off the pace on the first attempt at the ensuing restart with a flat right-front tire that took him out of contention.

Corliss had to survive one more caution on lap 35 when Mike Foster, Pembroke, and Roberts got together in turn four. Hinesburg's Therrien, who was going for the Maplewood Triple Crown after winning his heat and the semi-feature, got under Morris for second on the restart but was unable to chase down the leader.

Therrien finished second after starting 15th on the grid to pad his point lead.  South Burlington's Trampas Demers made a late charge to finish third by inches over Morris. Marcel J. Gravel, Scott Dragon, Eric Badore, Darrell Morin, Tyler Cahoon, and Eric Chase also earned top-10 finishes.

Craftsbury Common's Mike Martin dominated the Myers Container Services Triple Crown event for his first Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tiger win of the season. Martin started sixth and, with the help of a pair of early cautions, made quick work of the field to take the lead on lap three of the 75-lap feature. He then walked away from the field for his eighth career Tiger victory.

Hinesburg's Trevor Lyman took second over Morrisville's Dwayne Lanphear. Joel Hodgdon, point leader Brendan Moodie, Mike Billado, Jason Woodard, Jaden Perry, Tyler Austin, and Jamon Perry rounded out the top-10.

Waitsfield's Kevin Streeter captured his third win of the season in the Allen Lumber Street Stocks. Streeter grabbed the lead on the opening circuit of the 25-lap feature and easily held on through the race's only caution on lap-10 to cruise to the victory.

Duxbury's Peyton Lanphear passed Tunbridge's Gary Mullen in the closing laps for second. Brandon Lanphear inherited the fourth spot after Matthew Smith was disqualified in post-race technical inspection. Point leader Jamie Davis, Dean Switser Jr., Alan Maynard, Reilly Lanphear, Cooper Bouchard, and Logan Powers completed the top-10.

Barre's Jeffrey Martin was the winner in the season debut for the Burnett Scrap Metals Road Warriors. Martin darted to the front from his ninth starting spot, maintaining the lead through the race's only caution on lap 16 and taking the victory in the 20-lap event.

Fellow Barre driver Tyler Pepin took second with Littleton, N.H.'s Ryan Ware third. Doug Duffy Jr., Edward Bowen Jr., James Dopp, Nathan Woodworth, Eric Young, Frank Putney, and Taylor Keene finished fourth through 10th.

Thunder Road next gears up for the Times Argus Mid-Season Championships on Thursday, July 27 at 7:00pm. Double points will be on the line in all events with added-distance features on the card for the Thunder Road Late Models, Lenny's Shoe & Apparel Flying Tigers, and Allen Lumber Street Stocks. The annual driver autograph session will also be held during intermission. Admission is $12 for adults, $3 for children ages 6-12, and $25 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids).

Tremont Hits Two Major Milestones at Devil’s Bowl Speedway Dirt Track

Tremont Hits Two Major Milestones at Devil's Bowl Speedway Dirt Track

Future Hall of Famer scores 75th Devil's Bowl win, 350th career victory

For Immediate Release                                                                                                                                                                                 DBS-072617-1

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil's Bowl Speedway's most successful Modified stock car driver, Kenny Tremont Jr., added two major milestones at the Vermont facility on Sunday, July 23.  On Interstate All Battery Center Night, the West Sand Lake, N.Y., driver took the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series' main event for his 75th feature race win at Devil's Bowl and the 350th overall victory of his illustrious career.  Also in victory lane during the night were Robert Garney, Rick Stone, and Robert Griffin.

As he has done so many times before, seven-time Devil's Bowl track champion Tremont got his win in the Central Vermont Motorcycles Sportsman Modified division in exciting fashion, leading only the final three laps.  Veteran racer Jimmy Ryan, who has been the hard luck poster boy at Devil's Bowl in 2017, spent time up front before getting turned around.  Randy Howe led from lap 12 until six circuits remained, when Tim LaDuc took over.

LaDuc looked like a winner until he bobbled, allowing Tremont to sneak by and grab the memorable win.  LaDuc settled for second place, while Justin Comes rim-rode the outside lane from 14th place at the start to finish third.  Howe ended up fourth with Vince Quenneville Jr. fifth.  Rookie James Fadden had a solid effort in sixth, followed by Brian Whittemore, Billy Lussier, Joey Scarborough, and Justin Severance.

Robert Garney of Fort Edward, N.Y., picked up his second win of the season in the 15-lap feature for the Portland Glass Mini Stocks.  After rookie Johnny Bruno got turned around while leading, Garney took over on lap 3 and drove to the checkers.  Newlywed Erin Aiken – the former Ms. Erin Vien – picked her best career Devil's Bowl finish as the runner-up, with Chris Charbonneau third.  Chris Conroy and rookie Willie Rice were next in line.

Rick Stone of Cornwall, Conn., set an unofficial track record as the oldest feature winner in Devil's Bowl Speedway history, when he took the checkered flag in the second feature race of the season for the visiting Lucas Oil POWRi Outlaw Midget Series.  Stone, who is 68 years old and in his 50th season of racing, beat out Alex Adamsky for the win.  Tyler Rivard took third, Jesse Pruchnik was fourth, and Nate Furman landed in fifth place.

The Catamount Mini Sprints club had its first-ever repeat winner, as Robert Griffin drew the pole starting position and sailed to his second win in the new club's inaugural season.  Rookie Colby Beinhaur gave Griffin chase and set a career-high as the runner-up finisher.  Austin Chaves ran in third place, while Aaron Mulready, a U.S. Marine, finished fourth in his first Devil's Bowl start.  Sean Beinhaur finished fifth.

Devil's Bowl Speedway returns to action on its 1/2-mile Asphalt Track with Community College of Vermont Night on Saturday, July 29, at 7:00 p.m., featuring the Northeast Mini Stock Tour.  The 3/10-mile Dirt Track fires up on Sunday, July 30, at 6:00 p.m. as Brown's Quarried Slate and Brown's Orchard & Farm Stand present Street-Legal Spectator Races and a special event for the returning Super Stock division.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, Vt., four miles north of U.S. Route 4, Exit 2.  For more information, visitwww.DevilsBowlSpeedwayVT.com or call (802) 265-3112.  Devil's Bowl Speedway is on Facebook at @DevilsBowlSpeedway and on Twitter, Instagram, and Snapchat at @DevilsBowlSpeed; follow the action using the hashtag #DevilsBowl.
