NASCAR Pinty's Series Tour Statistical Advance: Kawartha

Analyzing the Kawartha 250 at Kawartha Speedway

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (September 7, 2016) – Cayden Lapcevich will become the youngest NASCAR champion in the history of the organization on Saturday when he takes the green flag in the Kawartha 250 at Kawartha Speedway and is crowned after the NASCAR Pinty's Series season finale. However, there are still several drivers looking to end the season on a positive note. Below is a statistical look at the performance of the series and selected drivers at the track.

Kawartha 250 Setup:
• Cayden Lapcevich will break the record for youngest champion in the set by former Daytona 500 champion and current NASCAR Chase for the Sprint Cup contender Joey Logano. Logano won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East title when he was 17 in 2007.
• Lapcevich can also clinch the car owners championship for his car owner and mom, Sherri, by finishing 17th or higher.

• D.J. Kennington became the first driver in the history of the NPS to record 100 top-10 finishes with his second-place run last weekend at St. Eustache. He also joins Jason Hathaway as the only drivers to start every race in the history of the series (120).

At Kawartha Speedway:
• Has welcomed the NASCAR Pinty's Series nine times previously. Held its inaugural NPS event on Sept. 23, 2007, which was won by Scott Steckly.
• Four drivers have participated in all nine previous events, and three of the four are expected to extend the streak this week. Those are: Mark Dilley, Jason Hathaway and D.J. Kennington.
• The nine previous races have produced five different winners, led by D.J. Kennington's three.
• Only J.R. Fitzpatrick, with two, has earned more than one pole across the eight series visits.
• Dodge has been the winning manufacturer in seven of nine events.
• The 2008 and 2009 races were cut short by rain.
•  Hathaway and Steckly earned their first career victory at Kawartha.
• There has yet to be a wire-to-wire victory at Kawartha.
•  Steckly became the first driver to win from the pole in 2013, a feat duplicated by Fitzpatrick a year later.
• Pete Shepherd III was the youngest Kawartha race winner at 24 years, one month and 12 days in 2010.
• Steckly was the oldest Kawartha victor at 41 years, six months and 20 days in 2013.

CHARLOTTE, NC (September 15) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials announced today the release of the 2017 schedule for the PASS South Super Late Models.  The South's original and longest running Super Late Model series will be highlighted in 2017 by the return to two of the series original tracks with events at Southern National Motorsports Park and Orange County Speedway.  With 10 dates confirmed, the PASS South Super Late Models will compete on at least six different venues over the course of the 2017 season.

"As always we work very hard for our fans and competitors to get the southern schedule out as early as possible," said PASS President Tom Mayberry.  "We realize everyone is busy and have again worked very hard to avoid any conflicts with other series or track schedules.  We believe this schedule should work well for our racers next year.  We're also very appreciative for all of our enthusiastic track owners and operators for their cooperation to help make this happen.  All in all, we've got a great group of tracks returning to the schedule next year and are excited for the possibilities."

The 2017 season will start once again on Super Bowl weekend, February 3-4, at Dillon Motor Speedway with the return of the Winter Meltdown and an expansion of the annual South Carolina Clash.  The Winter Meltdown will also be the first event of the 2017 PASS National Championship Series.

The PASS South Super Late Models will then move to the Tarheel State for race number two of the 2017 season on Saturday, March 4 as they return to Southern National Motorsports Park in Kenly, NC.  PASS will be the exclusive Super Late Model series at Southern National in 2017 and will be joined by a major support division for this event.

Just three weeks later, PASS heads to another North Carolina favorite as the series returns to Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC for the first of two visits in 2017.  The 10th Orange Blossom Special will go green on Saturday, March 25 and then the series will return for the penultimate race of the season on Saturday, October 21.

Hickory Motor Speedway, the longest tenured facility on the PASS South circuit dating back to 2006, will once again hold the biggest and most traditional Super Late Model race in the Carolinas.  The 12th Annual Easter Bunny 150 will bring some of the best racers in North America together again on Saturday, April 15.  The Easter Bunny 150 expects to attract some of the top short track racers in the country for one of the most sought after trophies in the sport.  PASS will also return to Hickory for its traditional Fall date on Saturday night, September 23.

In May, the series will move to the two biggest tracks on the 2017 schedule.  Caraway Speedway near Asheboro, NC will host a special Friday night event on May 4.  PASS will then expand its relationship with Concord Speedway near Charlotte by again hosting the Old Glory Weekend on May 26-27 as part of the big Memorial Day festivities in the Charlotte area.  The famed triangular half-mile, known for its legendary Big 10 Series, will see the PASS South Super Late Models race on Saturday night, May 27.

PASS will close out the 2017 season by crowning the series champion at the 15th Annual North-South Shootout. Final confirmation for July 15 and any other additional dates will be released by November 1.  Additional information on support divisions will be announced in the near future.

Look for the release of the 2017 schedule for the PASS North Super Late Models and the remainder of the PASS National Championship Series dates to be released in the near future.

And, don't forget, the biggest short track race on asphalt, the 44th Annual HP Hood Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in Maine will take place August 25-27, 2017, paying $25,000 to the winner plus additional lap leader bonus money.  Wayne Helliwell, Jr., the 2016 Oxford 250 winner, took home nearly $30,000 for his triumph in this year's event.
