Waterbury, VT –Thunder Road International Speedbowl will open this weekend for the 55th season of championship stock car racing. Billed as the "Nation's Site of Excitement", Thunder Road is known for its close door-banging, "take no prisoners" style of racing action.

The Merchants Bank 150 for the ACT Championship Late Model teams is the featured event this Sunday, but there will be plenty of racing action from the Bond Auto Tigers and Allen Lumber Street Stocks. They will also open their 2014 championship charge.

Seasoned race fans always feel that this event at Thunder Road should give an edge to the track's graduates and regulars. T-Road veterans Jimmy Hebert and Bobby Therrien are former Tiger champions and are now tested and proven ACT drivers. They each won races on the Tour in 2013. Hebert won the 2013 New Hampshire Governor's Cup at Lee USA Speedway and also the 100-mile race at SANAIR Super Speedway in St. Pie, Quebec. Just half-way into his first full season on the ACT, Therrien won the White Mountain Motorsport Park 150 lap event last July.

"The long winter is finally over and things have actually dried out a lot faster than we might have thought they would a couple weeks ago. We are getting a late start cleaning up, but we have scheduled a practice for this Thursday and look forward to seeing all the teams and fans this weekend. After watching the Lee (Lee USA Speedway) opener a week ago, I am really looking forward to the Merchants Bank 150, it should be a thriller," said Promoter of Thunder Road, Tom Curley.

Weekly Thunder Road challenger Cody Blake from Barre, VT said, "I was crewing for my friend Ben Lynch at Lee last weekend, and if we have a race like the Tour had down in New Hampshire, the fans are in for a real opening day treat. I can't wait to get the season started this weekend."

The annual Car Show in downtown Barre will take place on Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 9 till noon. A full afternoon of practice will follow after the popular race car parade from downtown up Quarry Hill to the race track beginning at high noonSunday will open with the traditional Class Day celebration when all cars go on parade beginning at 1:00. Qualifying for the 16th annual Merchants Bank 150 will begin at 1:30 on Sunday, April 27, 2014.

Eddie MacDonald’s Strategy Leads to ACT Lee Win

Eddie MacDonald's Strategy Leads to ACT Lee Win

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ACT-041314

Lee, NH – Eddie MacDonald of Rowley, MA claimed the American Canadian Tour win in the New Hampshire Governor's Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway (Lee, NH) on Sunday, April 13. MacDonald used strategy to claim his first career ACT win at Lee in his ninth start at the 3/8ths mile speedway. It was his fifth career ACT Late Model win.

MacDonald went from sixth to first in his heat race to claim the win and the pole in the feature with his +5 in ACT's plus/minus handicap system. MacDonald faded back early from the drop of the green. He fell as far as 10th and appeared to ride for the majority of the event.

Ray Parent got around Ben Lynch on lap four to take over the lead. He was quickly reeled in by Quebec's Stephane Descoste. The two battled with Descoste finally getting the advantage on lap 34. Descoste would hold the lead until the first caution flag flew for a Brian Hoar spin on lap 63. Parent used the outside lane to his advantage and took the lead on the ensuing restart. After another brief caution for a minor spin on lap 71, it looked like the remainder of the race would go caution free as Parent built a sizable lead.

After the 100-lap mark, MacDonald came to life and worked his way back toward the front. He worked his way around Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. and Descoste to get to second but with ten laps to go it didn't look like he had enough time. MacDonald had saved enough tire, however, and with five laps to go he reached Parent's rear bumper while they worked through lap traffic.

MacDonald got the outside lane advantage with four laps remaining as they barreled into turn one. Between turns one and two, Parent got loose and slid up the track into MacDonald. Parent tried to save it but spun for the third and final caution of the event.

On the final restart, MacDonald held off Polewarczyk to take the win. Wayne Helliwell, Jr. completed the podium, while Alex Labbe and Descoste rounded out the top five. Jimmy Hebert came from dead last on the field (30th) to claim sixth, while Ben Ashline came from 24th to finish 7th in his first event back behind the wheel in a year and a half. Ben Lynch, Bobby Therrien and Rowland Robinson, Jr. all finished in the top ten.

The stars of ACT have a weekend off before heading to Thunder Road in Barre, VT for the Merchants Bank 150 on Sunday, April 27. The annual car show will be held in downtown Barre on Saturday, April 26 before an afternoon practice session.

Canadian Teams Head for ACT Lee USA Opener April 13

Canadian Teams Head for ACT Lee USA Opener April 13

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE ACT-040314-9

Lee, NH - Several Quebec teams are set to help kick off the 2014 American Canadian Tour season at Lee USA Speedway on Sunday, April 13. Série ACT Quebec runner-up in 2013, Alex Labbé of St. Albert, Quebec, two-time Série ACT Champion Donald Theetge of Boischatel, and Jonathan Bouvrette of Blainville, a NASCAR All-American Series Champion and first-time ACT event winner on the final weekend at Autodrome St-Eustache in 2013, are all gearing up for the 150-lap Governor's Cup on the fast 1/3 mile asphalt track.

Labbé, who missed the 2013 Série ACT Quebec title by just eight points, the difference of four positions in a race, undoubtedly will be the driver to give his Larue Equipment team a second championship, following the one by Karl Allard of St. Félicien in 2010.

For Louis Larue, the owner of the team, there is not a shadow of a doubt that Alex will have a great season with ACT on both sides of the border, and their goal is to win the Championship on the Série ACT Quebec. "Last season, Alex participated in 31 races and has gained a lot of experience on many tracks and driving different cars. He was strong throughout the 2013 season in the Série ACT-Quebec and on the American Canadian Tour, and put any doubts about this team to restwhen we won the Fall Foliage 200 at Airborne. As if that was not enough, he captured the pole position at the Milk Bowl and finished third overall in that prestigious event.”

Larue continued: “Last year, we participated in this event in Lee, but Alex was brand new with us, and unfortunately, we experienced some mechanical problems. This time, the situation is totally different and we are all confident that Alex will be the second Québécois to win the Lee opener, after Patrick Laperle in 2003.”

Donald Theetge of Boischatel has also filed an entry for the April 13 event. Theetge is looking to improve over his experience in last year’s Lee opener, where he finished in 12th. Not only does Theetge hold two titles on the Série ACT-Québec, but he also claims the largest number of victories since 2005 with a total of 20.

Theetge’s 2014 season will see him concentrate primarily on the Série ACT Quebec, with some U.S. events also on his schedule, including the ACT International at Airborne on July 20.

Since his victory in the St-Eustache 200, the last event of the Quebec series in 2013, Jonathan Bouvrette of Blainville is ready to race. The team is well prepared and anxious to debut their new chassis at the Lee USA Governor’s Cup. Bouvrette will also concentrate primarily on the ACT Quebec series, aiming to improve on his final position overall, as he was 9th in 2012, and in 2013 he finished 4th in the final tally, but also will compete in several ACT US events throughout the 2014 season.

Quebec competitors will get the chance to attend several ACT U.S. events before the 2014 Série ACT season opener at Autodrome St-Eustache on Saturday, May 24. The annual NH Governor’s Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway will kick off the 2013 ACT U.S. season on Sunday, April 13.

OPS RESCHEDULES PASS NORTH SEASON OPENER TO APRIL 26TH GIANT DOUBLEHEADER WEEKEND NOW ON TAP

OPS RESCHEDULES PASS NORTH SEASON OPENER TO APRIL 26TH

GIANT DOUBLEHEADER WEEKEND NOW ON TAP

It’s been a long hard winter throughout the Northeast, and the harsh winter has caused Pro All Stars Series President, Tom Mayberry to move the Oxford Plains Speedway’s scheduled season opening, Ripley & Fletcher Ford 150 from Saturday, April 12, 2014 to Saturday, April 26th at 2pm. This change turns the weekend into a giant doubleheader as PASS North will open their Series on Saturday, and the $7,000 to win, Colossal Carnage 150 Enduro will go green on Sunday.

“We knew it was risky scheduling the opener in early April, but the past few seasons have allowed us to open up earlier as warm weather has graced us in late February and early March. Right now we still have several inches of snow on the grounds, and even with warm weather, we don’t feel the grounds will dry up enough to allow the event to be held on April 12th, stated Mayberry. We want to make sure to give plenty of advanced notice to our race teams, race fans, and employees, and that’s why we decided to make this decision well in advance of the event.”

With the opening date changed to April 26th, this will give teams like 2013 champion Cassius Clark, runner-up Joey Doiron, DJ Shaw, Johnny Clark, Ben Rowe and a host of others a couple of more weeks to fine tune their racers. Joining the PASS Super Late Models will be the PASS Mods, PASS Sportsman and the NELCAR Legends. Post time for the Saturday event will be 2pm.

For more information visit the PASS website at www.proallstarsseries.com, or the Oxford Plains Speedway website at www.oxfordplains.com. The Track office is open Monday through Friday from 9am to 3pm. For ticket purchasing and other info call the Track hotline at 207-539-8865. Oxford Plains Speedway is located on Route 26 in Oxford, Maine.

It’s All About The Fans As PASS South Returns To Orange County This Weekend

It's All About The Fans As PASS South Returns To Orange County This Weekend

-       For Immediate Release

CHARLOTTE, NC (April 1) – In less than a week, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models and Pro Late Models return to action at Orange County Speedway as part of the 9th Annual Orange Blossom Special.  Orange County has provided some of the most memorable races in PASS South history and is a favorite stop for fans and racers alike.  This year's race will once again be a It's All About The Fans As PASS South Returns To Orange County This WeekendPASS Fan Appreciation event with special admission pricing featuring $25 per vehicle load up to 6 people or $10 general admission.

"The fans are what it's all about," said PASS President Tom Mayberry.  "We wouldn't be able to have all the great short track racing we have in PASS without the fans.  Orange County has some of the best fans in all of racing and we thought that PASS Fan Appreciation at the Orange Blossom Special was a way we could give back to those who support us."

With the semi-retirement of Jay Fogleman, the defending winner of the Orange Blossom Special, the focus has turned to a new breed of drivers competing for the PASS South title in 2014.  Newcomers Tyler Church, Cole Timm, and Jared Irvan currently sit atop the championship standings and are only separated by 20 points. Church came on strong late last year, winning at Hickory Motor Speedway in September and in the Mason Dixon Meltdown at Southern National Motorsports Park in November.  Timm is one of the hottest young prospects in Super Late Model racing, coming within two laps of victory in the most recent PASS South event at Dillon Motor Speedway.  Third-generation racer Irvan is in his first full season competing with PASS after a third place finish at Caraway last May and a runner-up finish to Ross Kenseth at South Boston Speedway in October.  Fellow newcomers Tyler Dippel, Tanner Rumburg Trevor Noles, Brandon Setzer, and Matt Daley are all poised for good runs in the Orange Blossom Special after getting off to a slow start to begin the season.

While all of those drivers are relatively new to PASS South Super Late Model racing, an impressive list of even fresher faces will be making their first series' starts ever this weekend at Orange County Speedway.  Virginia's Trey Jarrell will be piloting the Mark Reedy owned #12 in the Orange Blossom after an impressive debut in Super Late Models this winter in Florida.  Jarrell's resume include Legends championships and the 2013 Late Model Stock Rookie-Of-The Year title at Motor Mile Speedway.  Like Jarrell, Florida's Joey Padgett is also a graduate of Legends car racing and plans to debut at Orange County.  Padgett made a handful of starts last year in the PASS Pro Late Model division.

Canadian Steve Alpin will make his PASS debut at Orange County as a teammate in the Woodman Racing entry to veteran Kevin Powell.  Alpin will be driving the car Jay Fogleman drove to victory lane in last year's Orange Blossom Special. Brendon Bock will also be making the long tow down from Franklin Square, NY for his first PASS South start.  Bock comes to PASS as a Quarter Midget and Legends champion in New York and made his Super Late Model debut earlier this year in Florida.  Although not a complete rookie to PASS racing, Orlando, FL's Tyler Audie returns to PASS competition following his first career Pro Late Model win two weeks ago in his native Sunshine State.

The entry list continues to grow daily for the South's biggest Super Late Model race of the weekend.  Local favorite Tate Fogleman carries the banner for Bull City Race Cars, while Raleigh veteran Joe Heigl takes the short trip to Orange County looking to build on his top five points standing.  Veteran Randy Gentry returns after his third-place finish to start the season at Greenville along with fellow Upstate South Carolina driver Ted Mickelson.  Fellow veterans Brandon Ward, Jody Measamer, John Batten, and Jimmy Doyle have also filed entries as they look to build on strong runs in the past at Orange County this weekend.

Entry forms and the weekend schedule for the Orange Blossom Special at Orange County Speedway can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.  Entry forms are also posted for the PASS North season opener at Oxford Plains Speedway and the 9thAnnual Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway.

Action gets under way on Friday, April 4th at Orange County Speedway with rotating practice from 3 – 6:40 PM for the PASS South Super Late Models, PASS Pro Late Models, and Legends.  On Saturday, April 5th, pit gates will open at 11 AM for the 9th Annual Orange Blossom Special, with rotating practice for all divisions from 1 – 3:10 PM.  Qualifying will begin at 4 PM and racing will start at 6 PM, featuring 150 laps for the PASS South Super Late Models, 50 laps for the PASS Pro Late Models, and 25 laps for the Legends cars.

The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America's premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as PASS South's Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway, the Autobus La Quebecoise Triple Crown at Autodrome Chaudière, and the legendary Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway.  For technical information concerning all PASS divisions please send questions to passracing@roadrunner.com.  For media or marketing questions, please contact Alan Dietz at 704-231-2039 or alandietzpass@live.com. Please visit ProAllStarsSeries.com for more information.  And, don't forget to "Like" the Pro All Stars Series on Facebook or follow us on Twitter to keep up with breaking news as it happens.
