NASCAR and Sportradar Announce Long Term Global Partnership Extension, Adding Betting Data Rights

New pact makes Sportradar an official NASCAR betting data provider for the first time

NEW YORK, NY and DAYTONA BEACH, FL – August 29, 2023 – The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, LLC (NASCAR®) and Sportradar (NASDAQ: SRAD) today announced a four-year extension of their long-term media data rights partnership, which now includes official betting data. This expanded agreement will result in Sportradar fueling not only NASCAR's digital media partners with live timing and scoring data, but also driving the continued growth of betting on the sport.

As an official data partner of NASCAR, Sportradar provides the fast, accurate and reliable data the media and betting industries rely on across the sanctioning body's three national series: the NASCAR Cup Series™, NASCAR Xfinity Series™ and NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series™, totaling 97 races annually.

NASCAR made its foray into legal sports gambling in September 2020 when it became the first league to partner with the American Gaming Association (AGA). Since then, sports betting on NASCAR has increased exponentially as betting operators saw a 51.5% increase in the total amount of money wagered on NASCAR in 2022 compared to the previous year. NASCAR's authorized gaming operators include BetMGM, FanDuel and Penn Entertainment.

"As the sports industry's leading technology company and a trusted partner of sportsbooks and media companies, Sportradar is uniquely positioned to support NASCAR in capturing commercial opportunities," said Eric Conrad, EVP, Strategic Partnerships & Content, Sportradar. "Our ability to leverage these rights in the marketplace will ultimately enrich the NASCAR experience for fans."

"Our partnership with Sportradar is foundational to our sports betting strategy from ensuring the integrity of our product to quickly providing authorized gaming operators and media partners with accurate, reliable data," said Joe Solosky, NASCAR managing director, sports betting. "Adding official betting data to the partnership will continue to catalyze NASCAR's rapid growth in the sports betting space and allow fans to further engage with the sport."

As one of Sportradar's earliest U.S. league partners, this deal builds upon a longstanding multi-faceted relationship. Since 2015, NASCAR and Sportradar have agreed to several contract extensions related to media data rights. Additionally, in April 2022 the two organizations entered into a separate multi-year integrity services agreement.

Wrapping Up the August Action at Canada’s Toughest 3rd Mile Oval

Wrapping Up the August Action at Canada's Toughest 3rd Mile Oval

By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications/First Draft Media

Home track Bone Stock, Super Stock and Late Model divisions were joined by the Canadian Legend Car Series – Saturday, August 26th – on the second to last night of the 2023 regular season at Peterborough Speedway.

Front row starters Brandon Feeney and championship contender Miles Tyson brought the Jiffy Lube Super Stock field to the line to open the night's feature race action. The pair was locked in a side-by-side battle during the early stages of the race before Feeney took the lead and Gerrit Tiemersma moved-up to challenge Tyson. Marlie Owen was having a solid run, pushing her No. 21 machine into 3rd position before the halfway mark. Tiemersma – who had been the 2023 poster child for bad racing luck – was looking to take control of the field and became the new race leader with a dozen circuits complete. The driver of the No. 17 held back Tyson for the checkered flag, with Owen, Feeney and Dan Archibald following the lead duo across the line.

Current championship point leader Ryan Kimball and multi-time titleholder Dan McHattie were on the front row as the KOD Disposal Late Model teams rolled from the staging area for their 30-lap feature tilt. A red flag for an incident in the 3rd turn brought things to an early halt and sent a pair of cars to the pits for attention from their respective crews. McHattie grabbed the race lead on the restart but Kimball was determined to get around the No. 71 machine. Slower traffic became an issue for the leaders with less than 10 laps on the scoreboard, with McHattie still in control. Another yellow flag – in almost the same spot as the first issue – slowed the pace again and gave Kimball the chance to come up with a new plan to get around McHattie. The pair continued to run nose-to-tail until Kimball saw a small opening with just a couple of laps remaining. He worked around the race leader and held-off a late race challenge to take the win. McHattie, James Townsend, Daniel Montanari, who bounced back from the early race issue and Brandt Graham finished-out the fast 5.

Point standing runner-up Sean Kennedy and John Lavalle led the way to the Great Canadian RV green flag as the Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stocks hit the track for 20-laps of excitement. Kennedy grabbed the lead on the initial start, while close to the rest of the field battled for 2nd spot behind him. Wheeling his No. 9 machine, Kennedy moved-out to an advantage of almost a straightaway over Jacob Kelly, Angelo Novis, Lavalle and John Bates. Kelly got close to the leader over the closing stages but settled for a spot on the leader's rear bumper as the checkered flag fell. Novis, Lavalle and Bates rounded-out the top-5 positions.

Jordan Latimer and Parker Traves – who just a week ago swept a pair of feature events – brought the 17-car Trailers Plus Canadian Legend Car Series starting field to Canada's Toughest 3rd Mile Oval for a 25-lap 'A' main. Latimer took the early lead, with Traves, Dawson Drimmie, Cole McFadden and Mark Griffin hot on his tail. Mitch Wright – who was having a strong run in the No. 57 ride – moved into the 5th spot, as the lead pack started working through some of the slower traffic. Traves, Drimmie and Latimer were locked in a fierce 3-car battle for the lead when a yellow flag for an issue in the 2nd turn slowed the pace, with 14 laps complete. With just over a handful of laps remaining, Drimmie took the lead and held on for the win. Latimer, Adam Cuthbertson, McFadden and Wright completed the top 5.

Brandon Feeney, Miles Tyson, Marlie Owen and Mark Gordon shared the Super Stock qualifying events, with Dan McHattie taking a pair of Late Model heats, as Ryan Kimball and Brandt Graham had the others. Current point leader Jake Kelly scored a couple of Bone Stock preliminary round wins, with Sean Kennedy and John Lavalle splitting the others. Mitch Wright, Mark Griffin, Jordan Latimer and Dawson Drimmie each had a win in the Canadian Legend Car opening rounds.

All finishing positions are unofficial and subject to scoring review and post race inspection.

Bullring bullet points: Matthew Martin made his first career Bone Stock start in the No. 16 machine, with the words 'rookie driver' on the back panel of the car…John Lavalle took over for Victoria McLenon in the No. 89 Bone Stock, while Kyle Johnson wheeled the No. 00 Bone Stock in place of James Amos…After a stuck throttle destroyed his own ride during a Friday afternoon practice session, Mitch Wright borrowed the No. 57 machine of Kevin Foisy. Todd Tolton filled-in at the controls of the No. 36 Legend ride, in place of Amber Wallis…Last week's feature winner James Horner suffered extensive damage during a wreck early in the Late Model feature and was cradled off the track…3 different bands of rain rolled through the area before racing was scheduled to start. As result, teams were limited to just a single practice session. On a positive note, the full race program – with the Kid's Bike Race intermission attraction – was completed in less than 3½ hours.

Peterborough Speedway closes the book on its 2023 regular season schedule Saturday, September 2nd with the Championship Clash that will decide this year's titles in the home track Bone Stock, Mini Stock, Renegade Truck, Super Stock, Late Model and Junior Late Model divisions. Also on the docket will be the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series and the Non Winner's Races. Grandstand gates open at 3:00, with racing at 5:00.

For the latest schedule news and information, as well as a preview of the 30th annual edition of the Autumn Colours Classic – presented by APC Auto Parts Centres – be sure to see www.peterboroughspeedway.com or the track's Facebook, Twitter and Instagram social media platforms.

After a wide variety of mechanical issues, Gerrit Tiemersma (No. 17) picked-up the Jiffy Lube Super Stock main event win – Saturday, August 26th – at Peterborough Speedway.

Following a strong on-track battle, a breathless Ryan Kimball (No. 16) celebrated his latest KOD Disposal Late Model feature win – Saturday, August 26th – at Peterborough Speedway.

2023 championship contender Sean Kennedy (No. 9) scored a Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock 'A' main checkered flag – Saturday, August 26th – at Peterborough Speedway.

Just a little more than a year after his first win, Dawson Drimmie (No. 66) picked-up the Trailers Plus Canadian Legend Car Series feature win – Saturday, August 26th – at Peterborough Speedway.

NASCAR Pinty’s Series News & Notes: Circuit ICAR Introduces New Configuration for Series’ Tenth Visit

NASCAR Pinty's Series News & Notes:

Circuit ICAR Introduces New Configuration for Series' Tenth Visit

The International Center of Advanced Racing or more commonly known as Circuit ICAR, is considered one of the most unique tracks on the NASCAR Pinty's Schedule.

Located on the former Montréal–Mirabel International Airport, in Mirabel, Quebec, the track has appeared on the series' schedule a total of nine times, separated by two stints, and three different configurations.

From 2011 to 2016, ICAR featured a 2.113-mile layout with 16 turns. Then a year later, the track was drastically shortened to a 0.684-mile map with only seven turns.

The track then disappeared from the series schedule for two years, but later returned in 2021, with a 0.994-mile, seven-turn layout.

Throughout the years and different configurations, two drivers have dominated on the airport tarmac - Andrew Ranger and Kevin Lacroix.

While the inaugural race in 2011 was won by Robin Buck, Ranger and Lacroix have established themselves as the ones to watch when the series visits the Mirabel, Quebec.

Both have four wins at the track, respectively. Ranger has competed in all nine races at ICAR, with all his wins coming on the 2.113-mile layout. Despite a 21st-place finish in the inaugural 2011 event, he has never finished worse than fifth at the track.

Lacroix on the other hand, has finished on the podium in all five of his starts, with four wins, and one third-place finish in 2016. The Saint-Eustache, Quebec native has therefore won on every ICAR configuration, with a win percentage of 80 and an average finish of 1.4.

Now, Circuit ICAR debuts a new configuration, where drivers will be challenged to a 2.295-kilometer (1.426-mile), 12-turn layout around the completely flat road course.

Largest Field at Circuit ICAR Since 2014

With 25 cars entered, this weekend's race will feature the biggest field at Circuit ICAR since 2014 (29 cars).

Notable drivers joining the field include 2017 champion Alex Labbe driving the No. 36 Chevrolet, and three-time NASCAR Pinty's winner Raphael Lessard driving the No. 12 Duroking Autosport/XPN Dodge for Mathieu Kingsbury.

Also joining the field are Justin Arseneau, Louis-Philippe Montour, Herby Drescher, Dave Coursol, Sam Fellows, and J.F. Laberge.

Jacques Guenette Sr. Makes Series Debut

One driver making their first career start this weekend at Circuit ICAR is Jacques Guenette Sr., grandfather to Alex Guenette, driver of the No. 3 Chevrolet.

Guenette Sr. has ten starts in the NASCAR Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series from 2001 to 2005, with four podium finishes in the GTS Class from 2001 to 2003.

NASCAR Pinty's Series etc.

  • Alex Guenette will have a tight turn-around to get to Circuit ICAR on Saturday morning. Guenette is set to race in the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Daytona International Speedway on Friday, August 25 at 7:30 p.m. ET in the No. 91 Evirum/BKFC Chevrolet for DGM Racing.
  • The Evirum 125 will air tape-delayed on TSN on Saturday, September 2 at 2:00 p.m. ET, and on RDS in Quebec on Saturday, September 23 at 2:00 p.m. ET.

NASCAR Adds to Digital Experience with New "NASCAR Classics" Video Archive

Free hub hosts 1,000-plus races, introduces NASCAR's Top 75 Greatest Races

Video player equipped with new timeline feature to jump to key moments throughout each race

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 17, 2023) – NASCAR is introducing a new way for fans to explore its rich racing history well into the future. NASCAR Classics is now live on nascar.com (www.nascar.com/classics), offering free, ad-free viewing of more than 1,000 full race replays, condensed broadcasts and recap packages spanning eight decades of speed in the NASCAR Cup Series.

Anchoring the extensive archive is a new anniversary capsule: NASCAR's Top 75 Greatest Races. The unranked collection, selected by the sanctioning body, showcases some of the most exciting on-track action, important milestones and enduring memories throughout NASCAR's first 75 years, bookended by 1951's Motor City 250 in Michigan and Ross Chastain's "Hail Melon" move at Martinsville in October of 2022. (A more detailed rundown of NASCAR's Top 75 Greatest Races is available here on nascar.com.)

NASCAR also launched dedicated NASCAR Classics accounts on Facebook, Instagram, X (formerly Twitter) and YouTube, extending the brand beyond the digital video destination to engage fans with a variety of throwback content on an ongoing basis.

"NASCAR Classics is a significant addition to our digital content offerings that for the first time ever gives fans around the world free, uninterrupted access to enjoy decades of past NASCAR Cup Series action whenever and wherever they'd like," said Tim Clark, senior vice president and chief digital officer at NASCAR.

Visitors to NASCAR Classics can easily choose their own journey through history via navigation dropdowns that filter races by era and by track, or through a keyword search that lets them look for specific drivers and race names in addition to individual years and venues. Once a video is selected, a custom timeline tool enables viewers to jump directly to key moments throughout the race.

The increased interactivity comes courtesy of software company Twizted Design, with whom NASCAR partnered to build Classics on Twizted's next-gen video streaming and management platform for OTT channels, called Videoflow.

NASCAR Classics includes most Cup Series race broadcasts available to date, and NASCAR will continue to add recently run Cup Series races to the online archive within weeks of their conclusion.

NASCAR rolls into Watkins Glen International this weekend with only two races remaining in the regular season. Fans can tune in to the Go Bowling at The Glen Cup Series race Sunday, Aug. 20 at 3 p.m. ET on USA, MRN and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio.

Parker Traves Sweeps Peterborough Speedway Canadian Legend Features

Parker Traves Sweeps Peterborough Speedway Canadian Legend Features

By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications/First Draft Media

Trailers Plus Canadian Legend Car Series racer Parker Traves has found the fast way around Peterborough Speedway.

After having events earlier in the year plagued by inclement weather, the Saturday, August 19th Legends' racing date at Canada's Toughest 3rd Mile Oval kicked-off with a 25-lap feature that had been held over from July 8th. Jordan Latimer and Mark Griffin brought the 16-car starting field to the green flag, with Latimer taking the early race lead.

As drivers throughout the starting field worked through traffic to find their rhythm, Parker Traves – who had started inside the 2nd row – moved into the lead with 8 laps complete. Dawson Drimmie – who took the initial green flag alongside Traves – slid into the runner-up position, dropping Latimer back to 3rd

A yellow flag just past the halfway mark slowed the pace but couldn't keep Traves from taking control of the event. Drimmie, Adam Cuthbertson, Matt Haufe and Latimer rounded-out the top-5 finishing positions. Josh Inglis, Nick Portt, Matt Boyes, Griffin, Glenn Morris, Keaton Pipe, Sean Walker, Anthony Einarson, Caleb Drimmie, Mitch Wright and Amber Wallis completed the finishing order.

Canadian Legend Car (July 8th) notes: Parker Traves had an extra $500 added to his race winning pay envelope through a bonus by long-time Legends Racing supporter Stan Morrow. Dawson Drimmie received an additional $300 for his runner-up finish, with Adam Cuthbertson collecting a $200 bonus for his 3rd place showing…Matt Haufe elected to start at the rear of the field in a quest for the Skelton Truck Lines 'Trucking to the Front' $600 bonus. His 4th place effort meant the cash rolled-over to $700 for the nightcap. Haufe collected a $200 bonus as the race's hard charger.

The Trailers Plus Canadian Legend Car Series returned to wrap-up the night's action with a 25-lap feature that saw Josh Inglis and Matt Haufe on the front row. Adam Cuthbertson took the early lead, with Haufe taking the spot away with an inside line pass with only 2 laps complete. A yellow flag for an issue on the backstretch with about 10 laps complete brought the pack together and opened the door for Parker Traves – who had started outside the 2nd row – to take the lead on the restart, with Dawson Drimmie, Nick Portt, Jordan Latimer and Jade Franklin joining the leader in a 5 car breakaway.

Drimmie got close the Traves in the late stages but ran out of time to make the pass. Matt Boyes, Josh Inglis, Mark Griffin, Mitch Wright, Matt Haufe, Zach Latimer, Glenn Morris, Caleb Drimmie, Andrew McFadden, Keaton Pipe, Sean Walker, Adam Cuthbertson, Anthony Einarson and Amber Wallis rounded-out the finishing order.

Canadian Legend Car (August 19th) notes: Parker Traves had a pair of qualifying heat race wins, with the others going to Adam Cuthbertson and Dawson Drimmie…Like Matt Haufe, Jordan Latimer elected to start at the rear of the field in a quest for the $700 Skelton Truck Lines 'Trucking to the Front' bonus. Also like Haufe did in the July 8th make-up feature, Latimer finished 4th in the final rundown, meaning the bonus rolls over to $800 at the next event Saturday, August 26th at Peterborough.
