Waterbury, VT – Forty-three of the top American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model competitors from seven U.S. states and the Canadian province of Quebec will descend on Loudon's New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) for the 7th Annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational Saturday, September 26. All four former winners of the Invitational will look to add another entry to the record books, but a number of drivers are in position to break into the "Magic Mile" winner's circle for the first time.

 

Rowley, MA's Eddie "The Outlaw" MacDonald is the clear top dog heading into the 50-lap, 52.9-mile event with nearly $80,000 in posted awards. MacDonald has three Invitational wins to his name, triumphing in 2009, 2011, and 2013. After a strong showing in the annual Test & Tune Session in August, MacDonald will go for a fourth win this year.

 

"It's definitely going to be tough," MacDonald said. "The competition has gotten tougher and tougher each year. Hopefully we can get the car so we can get through traffic and just be able to get close to the front and have a shot at the end."

 

Dover, NH's Wayne Helliwell Jr. and Hudson, NH's Joey Polewarczyk Jr., who have been locked in a fierce battle for the 2015 ACT Tour Championship, will extend their rivalry to NHMS as they both seek a second Bond Auto Invitational win. "Joey Pole" won the second edition of the event in 2010, while Helliwell triumphed in 2014 and could become the first driver with back-to-back Invitational wins. 2012 winner Ray Parent of Tiverton, RI made steady improvement in the August test session and will also look for a second NHMS victory.

 

The former winners will have to contend with an elite group of ACT Late Model racers looking for their first Invitational triumph. Barre, VT's Nick Sweet and St-Denis, QC's Patrick Laperle both have a pair of runner-up finishes in the Invitational and are hungry to finally capture the top spot. Defending Série ACT Champion Alex Labbe finished fifth in the 2014 Invitational and already has four Série ACT wins in 2015.

 

A number of dark-horses were strong at the August test session and could pull off an unexpected Invitational win. Lempster, NH's Guy Caron turned the fastest lap in August to emerge as a contender. Multi-time Claremont Speedway and Canaan Fair Speedway Champion Aaron Fellows was also fast in August and finished fourth in the 2013 Invitational.

 

Série ACT point leader Dany Trépanier is in the midst of his best season, while Tom Carey Jr. has finished in the top-10 in all four Invitationals he has competed in. Former Whelen Modified Tour NHMS winner Woody Pitkat will compete at the speedway in a Late Model for the first time but is a threat in any car he drives.

 

The 7th Annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational at Loudon's New Hampshire Motor Speedway is Saturday, September 26. Forty-three of the top ACT Late Model drivers from the Northeast United States and Canada will run 50 green-flag laps as part of a tripleheader that includes the Camping World Truck Series and Whelen Modified Tour. The Invitational takes the green flag at 5:00pm.

NASCAR To Celebrate Weekly & Touring Champions In Charlotte

Convention Center, NASCAR Hall of Fame To Host Two Nights Of Awards

 

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Sept. 16, 2015) – NASCAR champions from across North America and from Europe will gather in Charlotte, North Carolina, in December to be honored for their accomplishments in the 2015 season.

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Awards, which recognizes the top short-track drivers in the United States and Canada, will be on Friday, Dec. 11. The NASCAR Night of Champions Touring Awards will be Saturday, Dec. 12.

Both awards events will be held at the NASCAR Hall of Fame / Charlotte Convention Center. It is the sixth year that the venues will host the celebration of the top drivers in NASCAR's weekly and touring series.

In addition, the annual NASCAR Champions Karting Event will take place on Thursday, Dec. 10 at GoPro Motorplex in Mooresville, North Carolina. The event, which is open to fans, will feature the seven NASCAR touring series champions and the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series national champion.

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Awards is the pinnacle of the weekly racing season. In addition to honoring the 2015 Division I national champion, the night will celebrate the achievements of the track champions from the 57 tracks, U.S. state and Canadian provincial champions, national champions from Div. II through V, and top rookies.

The honorees in the NASCAR Night of Champions Touring Awards will include the champions from the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East and West, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1, NASCAR Mexico Series and NASCAR Whelen Euro Series.

Both the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Awards and the NASCAR Night of Champions Touring Awards will be streamed live on NASCARHomeTracks.com and FansChoice.tv in English, French and Spanish.

NASCAR previously announced the date for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards (Dec. 4 at Wynn Las Vegas) and the NASCAR XFINITY Series/NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Awards (Nov. 23 at the Diplomat Resort and Spa in Hollywood, Florida).

CHARLOTTE, NC (September 16) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry announced an exciting program today that will award automatic starting spots for the 43rd Annual Oxford 250 next August at Oxford Plains Speedway.  The "Road To The Oxford 250" will see the Super Late Model winners of this year's North-South Shootout at Concord Speedway and the 2016 Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway awarded a starting position for one of the hardest races to qualify for in all of short track racing, the 2016 Oxford 250.  The positions will be guaranteed as long that driver exhausts every opportunity to make the race via heats races, last chances races, and/or consolation races for the Oxford 250.  Should that driver not qualify through one of those preliminary races, they will be awarded a provisional based on their win at Concord or Hickory.  This year, Glen Luce took home over $31,000 for his win in the Oxford 250, making it the richest Super Late Model event on asphalt.

"We're very excited to announce the "Road To The Oxford 250" program for our drivers and race fans throughout North America," said PASS President Tom Mayberry.  "We began planning for next year's Oxford 250 the day after Glen Luce took the checkered flag in this year's race.  We believe the return of the North-South Shootout to Concord in November and next year's Easter Bunny 150 are two of the most prestigious races in PASS South and we are glad to add just a little more incentive to these two great events."

From 2003-2010, the North-South Shootout at Concord Speedway was one of the most anticipated events of the season, featuring the ground-pounding Tour-type Modifieds.  The event then moved to Caraway Speedway near Asheboro, NC in 2011.  In 2012, the PASS South Super Late Models joined the Tour-type Modifieds as one of the featured events as part of the North-South Shootout.  In May, PASS returned racing to Concord Speedway's half-mile for the first time in nearly three years in an exciting event won by Zane Smith.  It was announced at that race in May by Darren and Renee Hackett, that the North-South Shootout would return to Concord Speedway in November, featuring the Tour-type Modifieds and PASS South Super Late Models.  The SK Modifieds and North East Mini Stock Tour have also been announced as support divisions for this year's North-South Shootout.

Since 2006 when PASS brought Super Late Model racing back to the Carolinas, the Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway has grown into one of the biggest short track events of the Spring.  Drivers like Preston Peltier, Mike and Ben Rowe, Steven Nasse, and Kyle Grissom have all gone to victory lane in the Easter Bunny 150.  And now, a win at Concord in the North-South Shootout or next year's Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory will punch a team's ticket to the 43rd Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway next August.

Additional races that will be part of the inaugural "Road To The Oxford 250" will be announced in the coming weeks.  Complete 2016 schedules for all PASS divisions will also be announced in the near future.

Wednesday Sept. 16, 2015, Milverton, ON,:   Scott Steckly and his 22 Racing Team have been working tirelessly over the past two weeks to ensure they are ready to defend their lead in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1 championship points on Saturday night at Kawartha Speedway. 

 

Steckly enters this event with a slim nine point margin over two fierce competitors and expects to have to run up front all night.  Finishing in the top four will clinch the title no matter what anyone else does.  "We aren't looking at this race any different than when we came here in 2013, down five points for the championship," said Steckly.  "We had to lead every lap and win the race that year to take home the championship.  We come out every race with that attitude but we know it will be a fierce battle right down to the checkered flag."

 

As in the past nine years the NASCAR finale will be hosted by Kawartha Speedway, a track the drivers really appreciate.  "There are two racing grooves and you can run side by side here," said Steckly.  "It's a great track for us to finish up our season on every year."

 

The gates will open on Saturday Sept. 19th at 12 p.m. for spectators, with final practice beginning at Noon, Qualifying at 3:15, Autograph Session at 3:50 and the green flag for the Pinty's 250 at 5 p.m.

With a reputation as one of the biggest events in the province, Peterborough Speedway's Autumn Colours Classic – presented by Lucas Oil Products – October 9th, 10th and 11th is the show every racer wants to win. For Orono, Ontario's Danny Benedict, a checkered flag at this year's Super Bowl of Stock Car Racing would be even sweeter as it may also mark the young speedster's final start in the Mini Stock division.

After a successful 2015 season that included an opening night feature event win at Peterborough Speedway and a finish just outside the top 5 in the final standings at Sunset Speedway, Benedict – who is currently back at Algonquin College in Ottawa for his second year of classes in the Powerline Technician program – is already counting the days to the start of his 2016 season and a debut behind the wheel of a Late Model machine. The driver, known as 'The Showstopper' says the timing was right to try something new.

"We were able to get our hands on a proven chassis from former Mosport and Kawartha Speedway runner Dan Kimmerly," said Benedict. "At first, we had thoughts about putting together a limited program for next year, but now it looks like this will be our primary ride. The 'for sale' sign was hung on the #54 Mustang Mini Stock about a month before the end of the season, but we're not in a hurry to put a deal together. It's been a decent machine for the couple of years we've run it and we could still keep it around for some selected starts next year."

With the 2015 season at Sunset concluded and school back in session, Danny Benedict and his father are burning-up the internet with their plans for the Autumn Colours Classic at Peterborough Speedway. It's a huge event that draws racers from across the province and adding a checkered flag from such a prestigious event would be the highlight of any racer's career and a terrific way to close-out one chapter, before moving to another division.

"Our focus is on winning the Mini Stock title at Autumn Colours," said car owner and father Doug Benedict. "The Late Model is in the shop and it's a work in progress and more pieces to the puzzle come together every day. Whether the car is sold or not, Danny will be running it at Peterborough. Some might call it unfinished business and in a way, that's true. We've had some strong runs with this car and winning one of the biggest races of the year would be the perfect way to close the book."

Weekend de championnat en SpeedSTR !!

 

C'est cette fin de semaine que sera couronné le champion provincial ABF SpeedSTR, alors qu'il reste seulement 2 épreuves au calendrier. Tout d'abord, samedi le 19 septembre, la série viendra faire une première visite cette saison du côté de l'Autodrome Granby et le lendemain, dimanche 20 septembre, ce sera la soirée des champions au RPM Speedway.

 

Pierre Hébert est en excellente posture afin de mettre la main sur un premier championnat provincial en classe STR. Ce dernier qui a déjà remporté le championnat division asphalte espère compléter le tour du chapeau ce weekend, en ajoutant le championnat de terre-battue et le championnat provincial à sa collection.

Hébert possède 83 points de priorité sur André Manny, donc rien n'est encore joué, alors que plus de 300 points sont à l'enjeu lors des 2 prochaines courses. Marc-André Lévesque, Francis Méthot et Patrick Manny sont encore, eux aussi, au plus fort de la lutte.

 

Le champion provincial repartira chez lui avec un Frame STR 2016 flambant neuf d'une valeur d'environ 2 500$. Un prix très convoité chez les pilotes, alors ça promet.

 

Le titre de recrue sera également à l'enjeu et ça va se jouer entre Isabelle Manny et Antoine Parent. Les deux pilotes ont connu une bonne première saison en classe STR et ils espèrent pouvoir couronner le tout avec le titre de recrue de l'année.

 

Pour bien compléter le weekend, les pilotes Slingshots SR et JR seront eux aussi en action, mais par contre de leur côté il reste 3 courses au championnat puisque le tout prendra fin le 26 septembre à l'Autodrome Granby.

 

Beaucoup de choses peuvent encore changer dans chacune des 2 classes et de beaux prix sont à l'enjeu. Le champion Slingshot SR mettra la main sur un Frame Slingshot 2016 flambant neuf d'une valeur d'environ 1 500$, tandis que le champion JR se verra remettre un Body Slingshot 2016 d'une valeur de 1 000$.

- RPM Speedway. Ce dimanche 20 septembre, question de vous divertir après la folie de la rentrée scolaire et professionnelle, venez au RPM Speedway qui déroule son tapis rouge aux visiteurs Modifiés 358 et Sportsman dans le cadre de la série Dirt. De plus, ce sera fin de championnat pour les STR et les Modlite.

 

Modifiés 358 Dirtcar 100 tours

 

Une grosse fin de semaine attend les Modifiés 358 qui passent par Mohawk vendredi, se dirigent vers Granby samedi et le lendemain chez nous au RPM. La première manche a été remportée par Gage Morin du côté de Cornwall. Si tout va bien pour lui vendredi à Mohawk, il sera parmi nous samedi à Granby et dimanche au RPM. Actuellement, Gage est premier dans la série devant Danny Johnson #27J et Steve Bernard #54. Ce dernier bénéficie de ses mille points obtenus grâce à son titre de champion de la piste de Drummondville. Chris Raabe #01 quatrième dans la jeune série sera de passage à nos deux pistes : Granby et RPM. Ryan Arbuthnot #70, 5ème dans le classement ne sera pas présent ce qui donnera une place gratuite à Mario Clair #22C et David Hébert #ONE qui y sont 6ème et 7ème. 

 

Sportsman Dirtcar et Seaway Lussier 50 tours

 

Ce 50 tours vaut pour la série Dirt et la série Seaway-Lussier de quoi avoir un excellent peloton de voitures, puisque nos visiteurs font une pierre deux coups.

 

Sportsman Dirt car

C'est toujours Mathieu Desjardins #1M qui domine le classement de la série Sportsman Dirt après avoir terminé 6ème à Ransomville vendredi dernier. Les Ontariens Jessica Powers #52 et Louie Jackson #18jr sont respectivement deuxième et troisième. Ils doivent d'abord passer par Mohawk samedi. Le jeune Jackson y a terminé troisième au championnat, mais Desjardins a déjà connu la victoire sur cette piste. 

 

Seaway-Lussier

Martin Pelletier #92P mène la série Seaway avec 79 points d'avance sur Shane Pecore #0. Si Pelletier l'emporte ce sera sa première fois, son meilleur résultat étant deuxième en 2012.  

 

Lightning Sprint 20 tours

 

Encore deux courses pour Guillaume Neiderer #51 pour être nommé champion Lightning Sprint, pour la première fois en carrière.  Il devra se battre d'abord chez nous dimanche puis reprendre la course de Drummondville annulée à cause de la pluie. Benjamin Malo #740 sera du même coup nommé recrue de l'année étant en 12ème position et le seul courant pour ce titre cette année. Vous remarquerez un nouveau bolide, le 25B de Michael Benoit âgé seulement de 14 ans. Il a pris part à sa première course à vie du côté de Drummondville le 5 septembre dernier. 

 

Str 30 tours

 

C'est un pilote régulier à Granby en 358 Pierre Hébert #1 qui mène le championnat. Le père d'Isabelle et Patrick Manny, André #35 est deuxième au cumul alors que son fils #32 y est 5ème et sa fille #31 est 7ème. Cette dernière est d'ailleurs la mieux placée pour le titre de recrue de l'année actuellement devant Antoine Parent #17, 9ème au classement. Marc-André Lévesque #37 et Francis Méthot #55 sont respectivement troisième et quatrième dans le championnat qui prend fin dimanche chez nous.

 

Modlite 20 tours

 

Kevin Burke #91 poursuit son règne avec 49 points devant Richard Tessier #85 dans le championnat de la série qui se termine à Saint-Marcel-de-Richelieu dimanche. Celui qui fêtait ses 39 ans cette semaine, Martin Fleurent #52 est actuellement troisième dans les points. S'il termine sur cette position, il s'agira de son meilleur résultat de fin d'année depuis ses débuts en 2013. Benjamin Cartier #22B a le plus de potentiel pour le titre de recrue de l'année de sa 5ème place derrière Éric Désilets #28, champion de l'an dernier.

 

Mini-Mod 20 tours

 

Il ne reste que deux courses au programme des Mini-mods : ce dimanche au RPM et samedi prochain à l'Autodrome Granby pour leur première course à vie sur le grand circuit. Le championnat se joue toujours entre Jean-François Leblanc #21 et le champion de l'an passé Patrick Lapolice #68. Six points seulement retardent Lapolice. Leblanc a remporté une course sur la piste de G-Kart de l'Autodrome Granby le 26 août dernier lors de leur premier passage sur celle-ci. 

 

Slingshot 15 tours (grand ovale)

C'est leur seul passage sur la grande piste cette saison. Manuel Messier #63M dirige encore le championnat, mais s'écarte de plus en plus de Gabriel Lussier, maintenant à 15 points de distance. La recrue Martin Lizotte #39 est toujours troisième au cumul. Charlyne Galarneau #16 et Amélie Messier #63 sont 4ème et 5ème. 

 

Slingshot 10 (petit ovale)

 

Alex Lizotte #39 est toujours meneur avec 5 victoires en huit courses. Donovan Lussier #00 maintient sa deuxième place. Cependant Christopher Cormier #95 a délogé de la troisième place Raphaël Gougeon #44. Dix points les éloignent l'un de l'autre.

Objet : Soirée des séries dirtcar 358 et Revstar ce samedi 19 septembre 2015

 

-Autodrome Granby. Ce samedi 19 septembre 2015, nous aurons la seule visite des STR cette saison en plus de la série dirtcar Modifié 358 qui en sera à sa troisième manche seulement.

 

100 x Modifié

 

La première manche a été remportée par Gage Morin du côté de Cornwall. Si tout va bien pour lui vendredi à Mohawk, il sera parmi nous samedi et dimanche au RPM.Actuellement, Gage est premier dans la série devant Danny Johnson #27J et Steve Bernard #54. Ce dernier bénéficie de ses mille points obtenus grâce à son titre de champion de la piste de Drummondville. Chris Raabe #01 quatrième dans la jeune série sera de passage à nos deux pistes : Granby et RPM. Ryan Arbuthnot #70, 5ème dans le classement ne sera pas présent ce qui donnera une place gratuite à Mario Clair #22C et David Hébert #ONE qui y sont 6ème et 7ème.

 

20 x STR

 

Il ne reste que deux courses dans le championnat Revstar, samedi à Granby et dimanche à Saint-Marcel-de-Richelieu. C'est notre pilote régulier en 358 Pierre Hébert #1 qui mène le championnat et qui aura donc une soirée bien chargée se baladant du STR au Modifié #71.  Le père d'Isabelle et Patrick Manny, André #35 est deuxième au cumul alors que son fils #32 y est 5ème et sa fille #31 est 7ème. Cette dernière est d'ailleurs la mieux placée pour le titre de recrue de l'année actuellement devant Antoine Parent #17, 9ème au classement. 

 

30 x Prostock

 

Suite à la course de vendredi, c'est toujours Dave Bissonnette #47 qui mène la série Dirt. Jocelyn Roy #48 y est toujours deuxième. Les deux ont mille points pour leur championnat respectif à Cornwall et Granby. Il ne reste que deux manches à cette courte série : Fonda le 26 septembre et Syracuse le 11 octobre.  Ce samedi, François Adam #01 malgré ses blessures douloureuses revient pour une deuxième fois après son accident de travail. Rappelons qu'il a terminé quatrième malgré tout vendredi dernier.

 

25 x Sport compact

 

Membre de l'équipe Sportsman #90 de Dany Gagné,  Sylvain Bouthillier revenait au pilotage sur terre battue vendredi dernier. Bouthillier a terminé 9ème sur le tour des meneurs avec sa voiture très originale marquée d'un 31 dont le design rappelle un cadran. Evans Morel #88 a enregistré un troisième top 5 vendredi passé. Peut-être ira-t-il d'un deuxième podium, voire une victoire cette fois-ci ? Il ne reste que deux programmes aux sports compacts pour défier leur champion Marc Véronneau #8.

 

 

Slingshots Jr et SR (piste de G-Kart)


Ils n'ont que trois courses restantes à l'horaire : ce samedi et dimanche à Granby et au RPM et enfin, de nouveau sur la piste de G-Kart de Granby samedi le 26 septembre.

 

Chez les seniors, Manuel Messier #63M dirige encore le championnat, mais s'écarte de plus en plus de Gabriel Lussier, maintenant à 15 points de distance. La recrue Martin Lizotte #39 est toujours troisième au cumul. Charlyne Galarneau #16 et Amélie Messier #63 sont 4ème et 5ème.

 

Chez les juniors, le fils de Martin Lizotte, Alex aussi #39 est toujours meneur avec 5 victoires en huit courses. Donovan Lussier #00 maintient sa deuxième place. Cependant Christopher Cormier #95 a délogé de la troisième place Raphaël Gougeon #44. Dix points les éloignent l'un de l'autre.
