Devil’s Bowl Speedway Postponed to Sunday Afternoon May 18

NOTE: Revised schedule for Sunday, May 18 attached!

Devil's Bowl Speedway Postponed to Sunday Afternoon
Whelen Engineering/Mobil 1 event to run Sunday, May 18 at 2 p.m.

For Immediate Release                                                                                                                                                                         DBS-051614-1

WEST HAVEN, VT – Mother Nature has again delayed the 2014 season opener at Devil's Bowl Speedway.  A predicted 80% to 100% chance of rain showers at race time on Friday, May 16 has forced track officials to postpone the Whelen Engineering/Mobil 1 event.

The event is now scheduled for Sunday, May 18 at 2:00 p.m., conditions permitting.

"It appears that there's no possibility for racing on Friday night, so we will make every effort to get the opener in on Sunday afternoon," Devil's Bowl promoter Mike Bruno said.  "However, we urge everyone to stay tuned to our various media partners and social media outlets throughout the weekend in case of changes."

Grounds at Devil's Bowl Speedway were saturated from early spring rains, forcing the prior postponement of the Spring Green event earlier this month and delaying the start of the Kart Racing Series season.  The facility has begun returning to normal conditions recently, but too much rainfall at the speedway in the next 24 hours could place Sunday's make-up date in jeopardy.

"The grounds have been drying up nicely, but we are still going to be cautious with this storm," Bruno said.  "We are planning a great day Sunday afternoon, and we will continue to keep everyone updated through Friday and Saturday."

The Whelen Engineering/Mobil 1 event on Sunday, May 18 will include the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Bond Auto Parts Modified, Late Model, and Central Vermont Motorcycle Mini Stock divisions, along with the debut of the SK Light division.  Green flag racing action begins at 2:00 p.m.

General admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (age 62+), and free for children age 12 and under.  The new "Fans First" program debuts at the event with free general admission for residents of Fair Haven, VT and West Haven, VT (zip code 05743) who present valid identification.  Pit gates will open at 10:00 a.m., with the grandstand gates opening at 12:00 a.m.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, VT four miles north of Exit 2 on U.S. Route 4.  For more information, call (802) 265-3112 or visit www.devilsbowlspeedwayvt.com.  Devil's Bowl Speedway is on Facebook at facebook.com/DevilsBowlSpeedway and on Twitter and Instagram at @DevilsBowlSpeed; follow the action using the #DevilsBowl hashtag.
