PLATTSBURGH, NY – Airborne Park Speedway added two more names to its list of J&S Steel Modified winners on Saturday, June 27, extending its streak to seven-straight races without a repeat visitor to victory lane. The track's second double-feature event in as many weeks saw Mike Wells and Jamie LaFountain score a pair of popular wins on Riley Ford/Whelen Engineering Night for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series presented by Yandow Sales & Service and John Deere.

Wells, of West Chazy, NY, closely chased hometown driver Codie Aubin in the first two-thirds of the opening 30-lap race before catching a caution period on lap 21. Incidental contact after the restart allowed Wells to scoot away for his first main event win in four years. Aubin settled for the runner-up spot for the third time this season, with Greg Atkins in third place. Rookie Danny Sullivan took fourth with Leon Gonyo fifth.

It was redemption for 22 year-old LaFountain in the nightcap; the Keeseville, NY, native lost a win in the inspection line two weeks ago when his car weighed in just three pounds under the minimum requirement, but there was little doubt on Saturday. After starting seventh, LaFountain left the field in his wake and passed inspection with flying colors. Championship point leader Nick Heywood of Plattsburgh drove from 17th at the start to take second ahead of Jason Durgan and Aubin. Bucko Branham drove from 20th place to finish fifth a backup car borrowed from Heywood's team after crashing his primary car early in the night.

Fairfax, VT driver Richie Turner took his second win of the season in the Key R-D Trailer Sales Renegade division's 25-lap feature race. Milton's Robert Gordon led the opening 10 circuits before Brent Jarvis of Rouses Point, N.Y. took over. Turner passed Jarvis with six laps left for the victory, while Jarvis' runner-up finish was a career-best showing. Jason McClatchie beat Gordon for third, and Tylor Terry finished fifth. Unofficially, McClatchie holds a one-point lead on Turner following the event.

Kris Clark of Keeseville, NY made it back-to-back wins in the Busch Beer Mini-Modified division, while Pete Blaney of Jay, NY turned around some recent bad luck with a runner-up showing. Chris LaVair was third, followed by Eddie Bresette and Dale O'Neil.

Zach "Beaner" Wood of Georgia, VT won the season's first 50-lap Enduro race, outdistancing Jeff Murray. Brett Wood, the winner's father, took third ahead of Chris Mattos and Shawn Moquin.

The Competition Kart Series ran two exhibition races, with 14 year-old Brayden Rabtoy of Fairfax, VT earning his first win of the season in the Junior 2 Pro/Gold Plate division. Tanner Forbes finished second with Keenan LaClair third. Nathaniel Guay, 10, of Mooers, NY won the Junior 1 Pro/Purple Plate race over Evan Patrie and D.J. Gonyo.

Airborne Park Speedway is back in action on Saturday, July 4 for the Independence Day Special "Battle of Plattsburgh" 76-lap Modified race and a huge fireworks display. Renegades and Mini-Modifieds are also on the card, presented by Unique eCigs, Egglefield Ford, Morrisonville Septic, and High Peaks Dental. General admission will be $15 for adults, $13 for seniors, and free for kids age 12 and under. Gates will open at 4:00 p.m., with the first green flag at an early 6:00 p.m. start time.

Airborne Park Speedway is located on Broderick Road in Plattsburgh, NY, one mile south of Exit 36 on the Interstate 87 Northway. Ontario Modifieds Racing Series to Spend 3 of the Next 4 Saturday Nights at Peterborough Speedway

Ontario Modifieds Racing Series to Spend 3 of the Next 4 Saturday Nights at Peterborough Speedway

By Jim Clarke, Clarke Motorsports Communications/First Draft Media

After a dreary, rainy weekend that saw nearly every motorsports event in the province fall victim to the wrath of Mother Nature, the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series – powered by Torque Builders Inc. – is ready for a busy month of July that will see its drivers and teams spend 3 of 4 weekends at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval.

With car counts averaging close to 20 at each event so far this season, OMRS is happy to see the continued growth in the popular open wheeled racing series. Bill Pickford – speaking on behalf of the tour's group of officials that also includes Randy Hollingsworth and Richard Warnes – says this year's events and the recent 'Test a Modified' day have created a positive vibe in the motorsports community.

"There is always room for improvement, but I think we're moving in the right direction," admitted Pickford. "We started 2015 with a handful of drivers competing for the rookie of the year honours and if the early buzz is any indication, that statistic could be even higher when we wave the first green flag next season. Creating an affordable – yet very competitive – racing series has proven itself to be popular with drivers, teams and the fan base."

The trio of Peterborough Speedway events gets rolling Saturday, July 4th as part of the track's annual Autism Awareness Night. A week later – Saturday, July 11th – will be the year's second Toonie Spectator Grandstand Admission/Fan Appreciation Night and after an off-week, the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series joins the fun at the Mid-Summer Bash – presented by Country 105 – Saturday, July 25th at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road, west of the Liftlock City. Pickford says the upcoming stretch is an exciting time for everyone associated with the OMRS brand.

"This is about as close as we'll come to being a weekly series and our drivers are excited about getting these shows under their belts," said Pickford. "Many of our drivers moved into the series after getting started at Peterborough, so it'll be a homecoming of sorts. We've always enjoyed a positive working arrangement with J.P. Josiasse, Dave Sikma and the staff, so it promises to be a good experience for everyone and we're all looking forward to it."

Stone takes first Late Model win; Gordon and LaVair repeat

For Immediate Release                                                                                                                                                                         DBS-062615-1

WEST HAVEN, VT – Leon Gonyo made short work of the 35-lap Bond Auto Parts Modified feature at Devil's Bowl Speedway on Friday, June 26, storming to his first victory of the year at the Rutland County speed plant.  The veteran Chazy, NY stock car driver, 10 days shy of his 63rd birthday, dominated the "Hometown Heroes" race presented by Rutland Regional Medical Center, the Vermont Army National Guard, 105.3 Cat Country, and Whelen Engineering.  Other winners included Todd Stone, Robert Gordon, and Chris LaVair.

Gonyo's victory came during an upswing in his roller coaster racing season.  Through 10 combined starts in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series presented by Yandow Sales & Service and John Deere at Devil's Bowl and Airborne Park Speedway, Gonyo now has two wins and five top-five finishes, but also four finishes of 14th or worse.  Gonyo was aided by an up-front starting position on Friday night, but was unquestionably the fastest driver throughout the event and led by as much as a quarter-lap at times.

"We started up front because we haven't been finishing well, but this win shows that my team works hard and gives me a great car for every race," Gonyo said in victory lane.  "It feels good to get a win for them."

Vince Quenneville Jr. of Brandon, VT sliced his way through traffic to finish as the runner-up, and point leader of Charlton, NY continued his strong start in third place.  Greg Atkins and Joey Roberts completed the top five finishers, followed by Jimmy Ryan, rookie Bob Kilburn, Billy Lussier, Dave Snow, and Jason Bruno.

Former Modified champion Todd Stone of Middlebury, VT claimed his first victory in the Central Vermont Motorcycles Late Model division, taking the 30-lap feature race.  Stone took the lead from Steve Miller on a Lap 14 restart, then held Miller and others off at the final restart with five circuits remaining.  Vergennes, VT native Miller had his best finish with a runner-up showing, and had his hands full with Bobby Therrien and Robert Bryant Jr. in the final laps.  Therrien finished third in his first Devil's Bowl appearance of the season, followed by Bryant and Josh Masterson.

Robert Gordon of Milton, VT made it two-for-two and three on the year in the 20-lap Brileya's Chrysler-Jeep Renegade division feature.  For the second week in a row, Gordon stole the win away in the final stages of the race, passing Scott FitzGerald with only three laps left in the race.  FitzGerald, of West Rutland, VT, settled for the runner-up spot, followed by rookie Shawn Franklin, Jared Blake, and Matt Monaghan.

Not to be outdone, Chris LaVair of Saranac Lake, NY took his third-straight win in the Portland Glass Mini Stock division.  LaVair and Chuck Bradford did battle through two 10-lap, cumulatively scored segments that ended with a tiebreaker.  LaVair and Bradford each tallied segment finishes of first and second for a low total score of three points, but LaVair's better finish in the final round gave him the nod for the overall win.  Bradford wound up second, followed by John McCarron, rookie Brad Bertrand, and Andrew FitzGerald.

The Red Knights Firefighters Motorcycle Club opened the event with a raucous pre-race 'Hometown Heroes" parade supporting the Dodge House for displaced veterans in Rutland, VT, and was joined by more than a dozen fire trucks and police cruisers from around Rutland County.  A fundraiser for the St. Jude Children's Hospital was also held by 105.3 Cat Country, generating more than $500 in donations, and the Thomas Dairy Kids Club hosted a candy scramble on the frontstretch of the race track during intermission.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is back in action on Independence Day weekend with two big events, each with massive fireworks displays, on Friday, July 3 and Sunday, July 5.  The half-mile asphalt oval hosts the Coca-Cola Firecracker event on Friday night at an early 6:30 p.m. start, as the "Twin 44" format returns for the Modified and Late Model divisions, along with Renegades and Mini Stocks.  On Sunday, July 5, the 3/10-mile infield "Dirt Track at Devil's Bowl" opens for its first race of the season with the WhistlePig Straight Rye Whiskey Special at 6:00 p.m., featuring the Sprint Cars of New England, Sportsman Modifieds, Renegades, and Mini Stocks.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, VT, four miles north of Exit 2 on U.S. Route 4.  For more information, visit www.DevilsBowlSpeedwayVT.com or call (802) 265-3112.  Devil's Bowl Speedway is on Facebook atfacebook.com/DevilsBowlSpeedway and on Twitter and Instagram at @DevilsBowlSpeed; follow the action using the #DevilsBowl hashtag.

REIGNING CHAMPION DJ SHAW SCORES FIRST PASS NORTH SLM VICTORY THIS SEASON AT LEE USA SPEEDWAY

REIGNING CHAMPION DJ SHAW SCORES FIRST PASS NORTH SLM VICTORY THIS SEASON AT LEE USA SPEEDWAY

Lee, NH – DJ Shaw of Center Conway, New Hampshire raced past early leader Derek Ramstrom of West Boylston, Massachusetts and drove to his first AIM Recycling USA PASS North Super Late Model victory of the 2015 season Friday night at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH.

Shaw, the reigning champion of the series, fought an overheating Precision JLM-sponsored racecar in the early stages of the race, and survived long bouts with lapped traffic during a 120-lap green flag stretch to claim first-place hardware at the MacDonald family's racetrack.

Ramstrom, making a rare appearance in his Super Late Model, held off several different challengers – including multi-time LEE USA and ACXT Late Model champion Waynr Helliwell, Jr., during the race to claim a season-best runner-up finish.

Jeremy Davis of Tamworth, New Hampshire continued his rise in the rankings with his third straight top-five finish on the PASS North SLM circuit.  Joey Doiron of Berwick, Maine came from deep on the starting grid to post a fourth-place finish.

Former Lee USA Speedway Late Model regular Bryan Kruczek was the fifth-place finisher.  Mike Rowe (Turner, ME), Joe Squeglia, Jr. (Derry, NH), Derek Griffith (Hudson, NH), Cassius Clark (Farmington, ME) and Dave Oliver (Standish, ME) rounded out the top ten.  Ramstrom and Shaw won heat races.

The PASS Super Late Model National Championship Series visits New Hampshire Motor Speedway for the AIM Recycling USA 60 on Sunday, July 5, with racing action set for 12 noon.  The next AIM Recycling USA PASS North Super Late Model race is scheduled for Saturday, July 11 at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Maine.  For more information please visit proallstarsseries.com
