‘MAYHEM… IN THE BACKROOM’ RETURNS BIGGER AND BETTER FOR 2020 AT THE TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW

More cars, more bands, more rockabilly action!

'MAYHEM… IN THE BACKROOM' RETURNS BIGGER
AND BETTER FOR 2020 AT THE TORONTO MOTORAMA SHOW

March 13, 14 & 15, 2020 at Toronto's International Centre

TORONTO, ON // JANUARY 30, 2020 • Building on the success of last year's inaugural Motorama Mayhem… in the Backroom, for 2020, the 'show within a show' at the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo will move to Hall 4 of Toronto's International Centre in order to accommodate a significantly increased car count. The show takes place March 13, 14 & 15 at the venue across from Pearson Airport.

"In our first year, Mayhem… in the Backroom had 38 vehicles on display. This year we should have at least 60," explained Brandon Roberts, coordinator of the Mayhem exhibit.

Roberts continued, "All the vehicles on display are traditionally-inspired hot rods and custom cars; vehicles you would have seen cruising the streets in the 1960s. Some of these cars would have cost $100,000 to build, others, only $3,000. That cross-section of cars is what makes Mayhem so exceptional, every Motorama visitor will find a vehicle they can identify with."

Sponsored again this year by ZEHR Insurance Brokers Ltd., Mayhem has both a business and personal connection for ZEHR Branch Manager and co-owner Scott Smith.

"At ZEHR, we cater to the full spectrum of collector car hobbyist, from the hot rodder to the people who enjoy exotic sports cars," said Smith. "From a business point of view, it's a win-win for us. We get to re-connect with our existing customers and we also have a venue and an opportunity to reach a broad range of potential new clients.

"On a personal level, I happen to be a member of the Infidels Car Club and I will have my '55 Ford at the show. That's my connection to the car hobby."

In addition to the participation of the locally-based Infidels Car Club, members of the Lead Kings, the SOBs, the Hellions and the Don River River Rats car clubs will also be exhibiting their rides in the Mayhem room.

The increasing popularity of Mayhem… in the Backroom is due in large part to the broad range of associated interests and activities that will be incorporated and showcased there.

Making a return to Motorama Mayhem, this year, are pinup model and YouTube sensation Cherry Dollface along with Suzie Major of Suzie's ('rock your inner pinup') Bombshell Boutique. These ladies will be coordinating and hosting the ZEHR Stage production of the 2nd Annual Motorama Mayhem Pinup Pageant.

Over the course of the weekend, continual music will be supplied by DJ Swankenstein, with local bands The Dreamboats and the Hell Bent Rockers, plus American combo Mag and the Netos, taking over the ZEHR Insurance Mayhem stage for a Saturday evening concert. Mark Malibu and the Wasagas will provide the entertainment for the Friday evening VIP / Car Owners' Cocktail Party, with the Green Reflectors – travelling from Nova Scotia to play Motorama – closing out the show with a pair of Sunday afternoon sets.

Motorama show visitors will also be able to witness the talents of mechanical fabricators, including Vegas Rat Rods alumnus Grant Schwartz, automotive pin-stripers and various artists showcasing 'one-of-a-kind' creations, while at the same time being able to take advantage of the availability of tattoo artists, a barber and vintage clothing and collectible vendors.

Concluded Roberts, "Mayhem… in the Backroom is more than a car show, it is a celebration of the lifestyle from a particular throwback era. Our purpose is to honour the traditional car culture and the people who live it."

New Street Stock "Six Pack Series" to Debut in 2020

Four tracks working together toward common rules

For Immediate Release                                                                                                                                                                                  SPS-012820-1

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – The spotlight will shine on local stock car racing's "little guy" teams in 2020.  The all-new "Six Pack Series" has been created for intermediate-level, V8-powered stock cars, with six races at four distinctly different tracks in Vermont and New York's Capital District.

Significant efforts have been made by each of the four speedways to work toward a more uniform set of rules to oversee similar divisions.  The tracks and classes involved are the Super Stocks at Devil's Bowl Speedway in West Haven, Vt., the Street Stocks at Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, N.Y., the Street Stocks at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park in Fultonville, N.Y., and the Pure Stocks at Lebanon Valley Speedway in West Lebanon, N.Y.  Drivers must declare which track's rulebook they will race under for the Six Pack Series.

The Six Pack cracks open on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 10, at the high-banked, quarter-mile Glen Ridge bullring.  The semi-banked, half-mile Devil's Bowl facility will host the second round on Memorial Day weekend on Sunday, May 24, followed by events at the banked 4/10-mile Albany-Saratoga on Friday, June 12, and the fast, 5/8-mile Lebanon Valley high-banks on Saturday, June 27.

Devil's Bowl will host its second event during the Interstate All Battery Center Vermont 200 Weekend over the Labor Day holiday on Saturday, September 5, and the inaugural Six Pack Series champion will be crowned at Albany-Saratoga during the Malta Massive Weekend on Friday, September 25.

The intermediate, hobby-level class is well-known for its side-by-side action and even for its wild crashes.  Primarily based on the 1980s-era Chevrolet Monte Carlo, the division harkens back to a bygone period of racing that longtime fans fondly remember and that newer fans quickly fall in love with.

"The Six Pack Series is a really exciting concept and the new rules should make for some great racing at all the tracks," said Devil's Bowl champion Scott FitzGerald. "It's great that the tracks are all working together, and the thought of being able to race on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights with the same car reminds me of the way things were 30 years ago. My team is really looking forward to the challenge."

Further announcements about the Six Pack Series will be forthcoming.  For more information, visit www.DevilsBowlSpeedwayVT.com or call (802) 265-3112.

DIRTcar Pro Stock Series Ramped Up for 2020

Posted: 28 Jan 2020 03:50 PM PST

The Full-Fendered Frenzy of DIRTcar Pro Stock Series Racing Returns with an Eleven-Race Schedule

CONCORD, NC – January 28, 2020 – DIRTcar Northeast's only full-fendered racing division returns in 2020, with an exciting array of DIRTcar Pro Stock Series action. A total of 11 Feature races and 10 premier dirt race tracks make up the Series schedule in 2020 across the Northeast and Canada.

2019 champion C.D. Beauchamp indicated that he would return to the Series in 2020 to defend his title. At the annual DIRTcar Awards banquet, C.D. took home over $2,000 for his Pro Stock title.

That title defense begins at the multi-grooved Autodrome Granby on Friday, June 19. The last time the DIRTcar Pro Stock Series stopped into the Quebec autodrome, in 2018, Bruno Cyr took the checkered flag.

Next up is the high-banked bullring of Cornwall Motor Speedway. 2019 DIRTcar Pro Stock Series champion C.D. Beauchamp started his 2019 season with a win at Cornwall. Will he make it a repeat or will the stars from both sides of the border take home the checkered flag?

It's a special back to back weekend for the Series, with Lebanon Valley Speedway and Glen Ridge Motorsports Park Saturday and Sunday, July 25 and 26.  This will be a unique test indeed, as Lebanon is arguably the biggest track on the tour while Glen Ridge is the smallest.

With a talented group of weekly teams, Lebanon Valley boasts some of the biggest Pro Stock car counts in the DIRTcar circuit.  It will be a battle when Series travelers from all over the Northeast and Canada come to town.

The DIRTcar Pro Stock Series will make its second-ever attempt to race at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park in Fultonville, NY. The Series was scheduled there once before but was forced to cancel due to rain. Drivers are excited to finally take on this track this season on Sunday, July 26.

Along with sanctioning DIRTcar Pro Stocks in the Hoosier Racing Tire Weekly Championship, Can-Am Speedway plays host to a Series race on Friday, September 11. The Series hopes to complete its first race at The Nasty Track since Louie Jackson took the checkered flag in 2008.

The following day, Saturday, September 12, the Series hauls over to Weedsport Speedway to take part in the first Cavalcade Cup Weekend along with the Super DIRTcar Series and more. Last season Josh Coonradt won a thriller on this Central New York oval.

The Pro Stocks get back to it on Saturday, September 19 at Mohawk Int'l Raceway in Akwesasne, NY. Sid Harmer Jr. shocked the field in 2019, by picking up the Series win there. A week later, Albany-Saratoga Speedway and their talented group of weekly racers will clash on the Malta, NY oval. The Super DIRTcar Series will also be on hand with a $10,000-to-win showdown NAPA Super DIRT Week Qualifier.

Speaking of the greatest week in racing, the DIRTcar Pro Stocks will contest the Oswego Speedway for 50 laps on Sunday, October 11. The Pro Stocks have always put on great shows during NAPA Super DIRT Week, but since moving to Oswego Speedway, the racing has reached another an even higher level. It's a can't-miss race on the schedule.

The season wraps up at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, Thursday through Saturday, October 29-31, as a part of the DRIVEN World Short Track Championship. Competitors will face off on the biggest stage in dirt racing in two Features plus Heat Races and Time Trials.

Daniel Suárez Joins Gaunt Brothers Racing

Brothers in Arms

Daniel Suárez Joins Gaunt Brothers Racing

Driver and Team to Campaign No. 96 Toyota Camry in Full NASCAR Cup Series Schedule with Sponsorship from Coca-Cola and CommScope

NOTE: A teleconference with Daniel Suárez has been scheduled for 7 p.m. EST on Tuesday, Jan. 28 (TONIGHT). Please visit NASCARmedia.com for dial-in information.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (Jan. 28, 2020) – Gaunt Brothers Racing has signed Daniel Suárez to drive its No. 96 Toyota Camry fulltime in the NASCAR Cup Series beginning with the 2020 season.

It will mark Suárez's fourth year in the NASCAR Cup Series and a return to the manufacturer with whom the Mexican driver has enjoyed so much NASCAR success.

"It's great to be back with Toyota and back in the NASCAR Cup Series," said the 28-year-old Suárez, who was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico and now calls Huntersville, North Carolina home. "My NASCAR career started off really well and Toyota was a very big part of that. To have them in my corner again gives me a lot of confidence. Gaunt Brothers Racing has something to prove and so do I. We're committed to each other and we're going to build each other up."

Suárez won the 2016 NASCAR Xfinity Series championship behind the wheel of a Joe Gibbs Racing-prepared Toyota Camry. His title-winning drive earned him a promotion to Gibbs' NASCAR Cup Series program where he continued in Toyotas throughout the 2017 and 2018 seasons before joining Stewart-Haas Racing in 2019. As the 2020 season is set to get underway, Suárez is happy to be back with the manufacturer who ushered him up the NASCAR ladder and into the elite NASCAR Cup Series.

"We are pleased that Daniel is rejoining the Toyota family in 2020," said Ed Laukes, group vice president, marketing, Toyota Motor North America. "He has been a member of the Toyota Racing family throughout the majority of his career and contributed greatly to our shared success, most notably in winning the 2016 Xfinity Series championship. We are excited to see Gaunt Brothers Racing move to a fulltime entry next season and thrilled to have Daniel behind the wheel. We look forward to this new partnership."

Just as Suárez knows the possibilities that exist at his new home, Gaunt Brothers Racing realizes the opportunity it now has with an experienced driver coming into his prime.

"We've been working toward this moment since Gaunt Brothers Racing joined the Cup Series in 2017," said Marty Gaunt, president, Gaunt Brothers Racing. "We've made steady improvement every year, but bringing Daniel on board allows us to take a giant leap forward. We're investing in each other. He's not content to just be here and neither are we. We've been very strategic in everything we've done, and between our partnership with Toyota and the resources now available to us, we can take that next step and deliver for Daniel and all of our partners."

Dave Winston will serve as Suárez's crew chief. The NASCAR veteran comes to Gaunt Brothers Racing from Richard Childress Racing where he was vehicle performance group engineer and also the race engineer for driver Daniel Hemric. Winston has served as a crew chief before, spending 2014 at BK Racing with driver Alex Bowman and 2016 at Circle Sport-Leavine Family Racing with driver Michael McDowell. Winston has a degree in mechanical engineering from Florida Atlantic University.

Coca-Cola and CommScope continue their respective partnerships with Suárez at Gaunt Brothers Racing. The iconic Coca-Cola brand has been with Suárez since 2015 when he won the Xfinity Series rookie-of-the-year title. CommScope, a leader in communication network technology, has been with Suárez through its ARRIS and Ruckus Networksbrands since 2014 when he first competed in the Xfinity Series.

"We are excited to continue our partnership with Daniel Suárez and build a new relationship with Gaunt Brothers Racing," said John Mount, vice president, sports marketing and region assets, Coca-Cola North America. "Daniel is a valuable member of the Coca-Cola Racing Family and he embodies the values most important to Coca-Cola. We're looking forward to supporting Daniel in this next step of his career at Gaunt Brothers Racing."

"CommScope solutions deliver power, speed, precision and innovation – just like a race team – and provide fans with an optimal experience as they watch NASCAR through our video, wireless and broadband technologies," said Eddie Edwards, president and CEO, CommScope. "We wish Daniel Suárez much success this year and look forward to cheering him on at the finish line."

Suárez's racing career began in 2003 when he competed in go-karts. He is a two-time Mexican national karting champion (2004 and 2008) and twice earned a spot to compete in the Rotax MAX Challenge Grand Finals karting event – 2004 in Spain and 2008 in Italy. In 2008, he joined the mini-stock division – an official support series of the NASCAR PEAK Mexico Series. Suárez won 10 races in the NASCAR PEAK Mexico Series before coming stateside to compete in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series. He kept on winning, scoring three victories in 2013 before transitioning to the Xfinity Series. His championship season in 2016 consisted of three wins, three poles and 19 top-five and 27 top-10 finishes. In winning his first career Xfinity Series race on June 11, 2016 at Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Suárez became the first Mexican driver to win a NASCAR national series race.

Gaunt Brothers Racing traces its roots back to 2010 when it began competing in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series and the Canada-based NASCAR Pinty's Series. Gaunt Brothers Racing won the 2011 Toyota All-Star Showdown with driver Jason Bowles at Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway and scored the pole for the 2011 Streets of Toronto 100 with a track-record qualifying time on the city circuit, with Bowles again at the wheel.

Suárez's first competitive outing with Gaunt Brothers Racing comes Feb. 9 with Daytona 500 qualifying starting at 12:30 p.m. EST with live coverage on FOX. His lap will determine his starting spot in the Feb. 13 Duel – twin 150-mile heat races that set the rest of the field for the Daytona 500. That event begins at 7 p.m. with live coverage on FS1. Daytona Speedweeks then culminates with the 62nd running of the Daytona 500 at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 16, with live coverage provided by FOX beginning with its pre-race show at 1 p.m. All of these races can also be heard live on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio (channel 90).

While eligible for the non-points Busch Clash on Feb. 9, Suárez and Gaunt Brothers Racing have opted not to compete in the exhibition race to instead focus attention on their preparation for the Daytona 500.

GEARING UP FOR THE TORONTO MOTORAMA CUSTOM CAR & MOTORSPORTS EXPO

March 13, 14 & 15, 2020 at Toronto's International Centre

TORONTO, ON // JANUARY 27, 2020 • The sixth annual Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo takes over Toronto's International Centre March 13, 14 & 15, filling more than 330,000 square feet with incredible custom cars, hot rods, racing vehicles of all kinds, classics, tuners, car clubs, builders, parts and collectibles vendors, and more.

Chip Foose (right), star of the legendary TV show Overhaulin', will appear Saturday and Sunday at Motorama, meeting fellow auto enthusiasts, posing for pictures and signing autographs. Foose has created four Ridler Award winners – the prestigious 'best in show' honour at the Detroit Autorama – and is a seven-time winner of the Goodguys Street Rod of the Year Award.

Foose's appearance at Motorama is being co-presented, in part, by BASF Canada, Hagerty Insurance and Lincoln Electric.

Less than two months from now, upon entering The Grand Hall (Hall 1), showgoers will be greeted by 28 incredible mostly 'first time shown' cars, many of them built with an eye to debuting them at Motorama.

Every car in the show will have been reviewed and approved by car coordinator Gary Challice and his team, guaranteeing a wide variety of immaculate, interesting and stunning vehicles.

Heading deeper into the show, visitors will enter the Inside Track Racing Zone, Presented by Stoneridge Specialty Insurance. This area will feature racing series, tracks, clubs and motorsports suppliers representing the full spectrum of Canadian racing, including stock cars, drag racing, road racing, rallying, karting and more.

New for 2020 is the addition of the Stoneridge Stage in the Racing Zone, where racers, promoters, officials and members of the community will be interviewed throughout Motorama. And for the first time ever, a stock car build is planned for the Racing Zone. Woven throughout the hall will be several dozen racing vehicles, of all kinds, in The Racers' Corral.

The International Centre's massive Hall 2 will showcase the majority of the car clubs and feature displays. More than a dozen clubs – including this year's Featured Club, the Brantford, Ontario-based Piston Pushers – will attend Motorama, each showcasing a selection of their members' vehicles. JH Restorations, from Windsor, Ontario, is this year's feature builder and will display several of their creations. Feature cars that have appeared at SEMA (Las Vegas) and major shows like the Syracuse Nationals will also be making their Canadian car show debuts.

Hall 2 also plays home to the busy Motorama Stage, where the awards presentations and discussion panels take place.

Returning for a second year, Mayhem… in the Backroom is a party that pays homage to traditional hot rods and custom cars, as well as the rockabilly lifestyle. Presented by ZEHR Insurance Brokers and under the guidance of Brandon Roberts – one of the promoters of the popular Jalopy Jam-Up – Mayhem's vehicle line-up will include offerings from several car clubs and car owners.

For 2020, Mayhem has been relocated to Hall 4 where it will have even more room for the cars, pinstripers, barbers, tattoo artists, bands, the Miss Motorama Pin-Up Pageant and other features that will once again make it a hive of activity at Motorama.

The fifth edition of Spring Fever: Modified Cars & Lifestyle will again be put together by Kristine Hill, producer of the annual Summer Showdown in Simcoe, Ontario. Passionate about modified and tuner cars and the people who embrace the lifestyle, Hill is excited about SF5, which is moving to Hall 3 for this year. Spring Fever is being presented by Burning Rubber Tire & Speed, of Oakville, Ontario.

According to Hill, word of the $1000.00 first-place prize and the $500.00 runner-up prize has spread, with entries coming in from as far away as Florida and Quebec. A wide variety of modified cars and trucks will once again be on display, showcasing everything from luxurious VIP-style tuners, to championship level drift cars, with an emphasis on new builds and trends.

Some exhibitor space and sponsorship opportunities are still available. Vehicle registration applications are still being accepted and reviewed. NASCAR and Mack Trucks Announce Multi-Year Extension

NASCAR and Mack Trucks Announce Multi-Year Extension
Popular NASCAR Salutes Mack Anthem Fan Vote to Return in 2020;
Iconic American Brand to Remain the "Official Hauler of NASCAR"

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 23, 2020) – As the 2020 season rolls into view and the industry prepares to hit the open roads, NASCAR and Mack Trucks announced today a multi-year extension that continues its designation as the "Official Hauler of NASCAR®."

For nearly five-years, NASCAR has logged approximately 450,000 miles annually with Mack trucks, paving the way for successful races at various tracks across North America. In 2018, NASCAR helped Mack unveil its new Mack Anthem® model – the latest addition to its premium line-up and still hauling the NASCAR fleet today – during NASCAR Fan Appreciation Day.

"Our relationship with Mack Trucks continues to deliver a transportation solution that plays an integral role in our success every weekend," said Elton Sawyer, vice president, officiating and technical inspection, NASCAR. "With their partnership, we have developed a customized fleet of NASCAR trucks that has simplified our transportation logistics and in turn, help us remain focused on our events."

Mack Trucks utilizes the partnership to engage customers across the country with a variety of activations across the sport. Most recently, a Mack Anthem wrapped in a custom-designed, military-themed scheme was front and center during last year's NASCAR Salutes Refreshed by Coca-Cola® – an industry-wide expression of respect, appreciation and reverence for those who have served the nation both past and present.

Four different design concepts for the wrap were shared on social media where fans could vote for their favorite scheme. The winning design, which featured all five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, earned nearly 40 percent of the vote.

"Our partnership with NASCAR has provided unique opportunities to showcase our products, services and technology to a wide array of customers," said John Walsh, vice president, marketing, Mack Trucks. "Through the extension of our relationship, we look forward to doing even more with NASCAR to further demonstrate the value we're delivering to our customers' businesses today through industry-leading total transportation solutions."

The popular NASCAR Salutes Mack Anthem paint scheme will return for its third installment in the 2020 season, and once again, fans will be given the opportunity to choose the design for the NASCAR Cup Series rig. Additionally, Mack Trucks will be the presenting sponsor of NASCAR Digital Media's weekly Power Rankings video franchise this year.

Mack Trucks will also continue to serve on the NASCAR Fuel for Business Council, an award-winning business-to-business program, that brings together an exclusive group of nearly 60 NASCAR Official Partners throughout the year to explore potential joint business opportunities. .

NASCAR and Mack Trucks will embark on their fifth season together in February when the fleet of Mack Anthems departs for Daytona International Speedway for the famed DAYTONA 500. The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series season will commence Thursday, February 13 with the Bluegreen Vacations Duels at DAYTONA airing on FS1, MRN and SiriusXM at 7 p.m.

-THEETGE TO RACE OVAL EVENTS-

(January 2, 2020) Wight Motorsports Inc (WMI) principal David Wight today announced that WMI will compete fulltime in the 2020 NASCAR Pinty's Series.  Preparations have been underway for some time with the first WMI NASCAR Pinty's Series car nearing completion along with the acquisition of pit carts and other track equipment.

Wight has amassed 26 Pinty's Series victories as a Crew Chief along with three series championships.  In the last few years WMI has also become the premier choice of numerous race teams to build, set up and prepare cars for the Pinty's Series and other elite levels of racing.  Now Wight is ready add another component by fielding his own company entry in 2020.

"This is something I've thought about for a while" explained Wight.  "There seem to be a lot of drivers that want to be part of the Pinty's Series and WMI having the ability to field a car for each race can help.  We now have the latest cars and equipment necessary for interested parties to partner with us and be able to compete at a high level" he added.

WMI is also pleased to announce that veteran racer Donald Theetge of Boischatel, Quebec will be the driver for each of the oval races plus the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivieres in the #80 Chevrolet Camaro sponsored by Theetge Chevrolet/Buick/GMC/Cadillac.  "Donald is a talented racer who's won races and had success in a lot of different series and will be a perfect fit for us this season.  I'm really happy he's going to join us; we will be really competitive right from the start of the season" said Wight.

Donald Theetge is eager for this new partnership with WMI to begin.  "I saw what David (Wight) did last year as a crew chief, winning a lot of races and a championship.  I want to win races and compete for the oval championship and was very happy to get the call from David about working together.  I am really looking forward to getting out on the track this season" he stated.

The next few months will be busy ones for Wight and WMI.  "Our racecar business is strong and still growing and we'll be finishing up cars, preparing track equipment and as soon as weather permits, we'll be testing" explained Wight.  "We'll also be confirming our plans for the remaining road course events, we still have some options and partnerships we'd like to explore before making a final decision.  This is a busy but exciting time for us" he added.

The opening round of the 2020 NASCAR Pinty's Series is during the Victoria Day Speedfest at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park May 17th.  All NASCAR Pinty's Series races are streamed live and broadcast on TSN.
