Nick Ledson Sweeps Peterborough Speedway Ontario Legends Series Features…Again

After criss-crossing the province for about a month – including the running of the Canadian Asphalt Legend Car Nationals – teams with the Trailers Plus Ontario Legends Series returned to the venue known as Canada's Toughest 3^rd of a Mile Paved Oval for a pair of feature events Saturday, August 24^th. On the line were valuable tour points toward this year's overall championship, as well as a chance to move-up in the standings for the inaugural Clarke Motorsports Communications Challenge Cup for events at Peterborough Speedway.

Fast-time qualifiers Nicholas Ledson and Parker Traves brought the starting field to the green flag in the opening 25 lapper. Coming from his front row starting spot, Ledson led the opening laps until a lap 5 yellow flag for an incident in the 2nd turn slowed his charge. This year's winner of the Canadian Asphalt Legend Car Nationals started to work through slower traffic, just as another issue brought out the red flag. Current point leader Parker Traves was looking to get around Ledson on the restart, but the #15N ride was too strong. Not even a late race yellow flag could keep him from the win. Dawson Drimmie, Kevin Foisy and Kenny McNicol Jr. followed the leaders across the line to complete the top 5. Andrew Massey, Paul Pierik, Jeff Forsey, Shane Pollock, Wes Cuthbertson, Mark Griffin, Cory Richardson, Jeremy Coulter, Zach Latimer, Thomas Dunn, Glenn Morris, Joe Sherman, Adam Cuthbertson, Rick Eades, Cole McFadden and Miles Tyson rounded-out the finishing positions.

The night's second Ontario Legends Series feature – a holdover from a Saturday, June 1st rainout – had Kenny McNicol Jr. and Jeff Forsey on the front row. McNicol took the lead early but the pace was slowed because of a yellow flag with only a single lap on the scoreboard. Kevin Foisy was looking for a turn at the front of the field and moved into the runner-up spot on the restart. Searching high and low, he wasn't able to take over the top position and faced a challenge from Nick Ledson who slid into 2nd with 6 laps complete and took the lead 9 circuits into the 25 lap affair. Foisy kept trying but could only get close to the leader over the closing stages. Parker Traves, Adam Cuthbertson and Dawson Drimmie completed the top 5 as Ledson once again swept the pair of feature events. McNicol Jr., Andrew Massey, Forsey, Cory Richardson, Jeremy Coulter, Joe Sherman, Mark Griffin, Glenn Morris, Wes Cuthbertson, Paul Pierik, Miles Tyson, Shane Pollock and Zach Latimer rounded-out the running order.

Trailers Plus Ontario Legends Series notebook: Ledson's Peterborough Speedway sweep came hot on the heels of his win at the Canadian Asphalt Legend Car Nationals a week earlier…The weekend started off great for Miles Tyson, who qualified 4^th fastest. He got up 2^nd place in the first feature before breaking a trailing arm. In the 2^nd 'A' main, his #49 was caught-up in a wreck and hit the wall…Things weren't much better for Cole McFadden. During the first feature, he rolled into the infield grass off the backstretch with a small fire under the hood and was finished for the night…Jeremy Coulter made the tow from Smiths Falls, Ontario for his first start of the season. He was 13^th in the first feature and 10^th in the second…The next event on the 2019 schedule is a double header – Saturday, September 7^th and Sunday, September 8^th – at Grand Bend Speedway.

Super DIRTcar Series Stars Aiming to Build Momentum at Utica-Rome

Robert Delormier Conquers DirtCar Sportsman Series Field at Cornwall

In the eleven previous tour races held at the Cornwall Motor Speedway, the DirtCar Sportsman Series has produced a total of eight different winners in track history. With 2018 Martin Pelletier on to the 358 Modified ranks for 2019 it left everyone with a clear shot to claim a checkered flag.

Ryan Stabler would jump into the early race lead at the start of the 50-lap event over Kaven Poliquin, Robert Delormier, Justin Desrosiers and Johnathon Ferguson. Stabler who has only 3 career wins in the DirtCar Sportsman ranks, was looking strong on this night as he pulled away on a slick race track in the early laps as behind him Robert Delormier was making his move forward to the number two spot.

On lap 5 Delormier would make his move and quickly close in on Ryan Stabler who was starting to enter into traffic. By lap 12 the top two had pulled away from the field and were cutting through the traffic perfectly while Brianna Ladouceur was also on the charge from her 8th starting spot. Ladouceur who had previously competed in the 150-lap 358 Modified race earlier in the day, was running on pure adrenaline as she got by Kaven Poliquin on lap 20.

At the halfway point Stabler and Delormier were battling hard for the lead but traffic was making it very difficult for the two of them which allow Ladouceur to close in and make it a 3-car battle. On lap 38 the first yellow flew as Jeffrey Lapalme slowed to a stop in turn 4.

When the green flew Robert Delormier knew it was go-time as he took over the lead and started to drive away. Behind him, Brianna Ladouceur was also on the charge as she battled Ryan Stabler for 2nd over the final 10 laps with Johnathon Ferguson 4th and former series champion and 8-time Cornwall feature winner Shane Pecore completing the top 5.

In the end, Robert Delormier would go unchallenged claiming his 2nd career DirtCar Sportsman Series win and first on the North Region in 2019. Brianna Ladouceur's busy night resulted in a second-place run followed by Ryan Stabler, Johnathon Ferguson, and Shane Pecore.

The North Region takes a couple of weeks away before getting back to action at the Plattsburgh Airborne Speedway and Travis Bruno will look to defend home turf after winning the regional opener on May 4th.

100 laps will decide $7,500-winner on Sunday, Sept. 1 in Vernon, NY

VERNON, NY – Utica-Rome Speedway has developed a reputation for being one of the fastest and most exciting race tracks on the Super DIRTcar Series tour. On Sunday, Sept. 1, the biggest stars in Big Block Modified racing will compete over 100 laps for $7,500-to-win and $500-to-start on the Vernon, NY dirt oval in an event presented by Broedel Fuel Group and Clinton Tractor.

So far in 2019, the Baldwinsville Bandit Jimmy Phelps and his HBR No. 98H have been locked out of Victory Lane despite their strong efforts. Last year Phelps found the winning formula and took the checkered flag at Utica-Rome in July. HBR will be checking their notebook from last year's race to duplicate the success.

In that race, Phelps held off Danny Johnson and Erick Rudolph for 100 laps. This year Danny Johnson has lacked stability, racing for three different race teams. Incredibly he's maintained a top-10 seed in points. Now it seems the operation has settled down and Johnson, a 2019 Hall of Fame inductee, is starting to find his groove. Can The Doctor get the familiar orange No. 27J to the front once again?

Erick Rudolph is this year's DIRTcar 358 Modified Track Champion at Utica-Rome. Don't expect the No. 25R to be far from the front in any of the race sessions on Sunday, Sept. 1. Rudolph took the win in a 358 Modified Series race earlier this year after outdueling rival Mat Williamson.

Billy Dunn and Pat Ward sit second and third in Utica-Rome's weekly points. They are both good bets to take the fight to Series regulars for the $7,500 payday.

Other drivers to be on hand include defending NAPA Super DIRT Week Champion Larry Wight, living legend Billy Decker, rookies Ryan Godown, Jack Lehner and Demetrios Drellos, Buzz Chew Racing's Williamson and more.

Peter Britten and Mike Mahaney are two drivers who have been performing well in their Hoosier Racing Tire Weekly Championship programs but have fallen short of their expectations in Series racing. Both are also with new teams in 2019. Britten is back to his family-owned program while Mahaney has moved to the No. 35 Huttig-owned Big Block Modified.

With a heavy schedule up until November's Can-Am World Finals at The Dirt Track at Charlotte, Mahaney and Britten need to capture some momentum for the final leg of the season to make a push for the top five. Can Utica-Rome produce a new 2019 winner?

Its all come down to this. The curtain is about to drop on an exciting 2019 regular season of action at the tight, tricky bullring on Mount Pleasant Road. Don't miss your chance to experience the Championship Clash, where this year's titles in the hometown Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck, KOD Disposal Super Stock and Late Model divisions; along with the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series will be decided – Saturday, August 31^st – at Peterborough Speedway.

"Some of the championship battles could come down to the final turn on the last lap of the feature event. We've had an amazing season and I can't wait to award all of our drivers for their hard work," said track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse. Lebanon Valley Speedway Hosts $25,000-to-win NAPA Super DIRT Week XLVIII Qualifier Saturday, August 31

WEST LEBANON, NY – August 24, 2019 – One of the biggest and baddest races on the Super DIRTcar Series calendar falls on Saturday, August 31 when 2019's Mr. DIRT Track USA is crowned at Lebanon Valley Speedway. The 100-lap $25,000-to-win NAPA Super DIRT Week Qualifier is presented by Upstate GM Dealers and Abele Tractor.

With added monies to the purse for this year, Saturday will be the richest Mr. DIRT Track USA event in recent memory. Not only will the winner take home the $25,500, the runner-up nets a cool $8,000, $3,000 for third on down to $1,000 for tenth, and $500 just to take the green.

Can a Lebanon Valley ringer like fan-favorite Kenny Tremont hold off the Series drivers like last year or will a streaking Matt Sheppard put leave his mark on the famous speedway.

Erick Rudolph, the third generation driver out of Ransomville, NY is putting together a strong run of wins and top-three finishes in an attempt to reel in eight-time Super DIRTcar Series Champion Matt Sheppard. Sheppard now has a 110 point lead on Rudolph but the No. 25R team is undeterred.

Not far behind Erick Rudolph is Mat Williamson from St. Catherines, Ontario who splits his time in the family-owned No. 6 and the Buzz Chew No. 88. Race fans will see the slick No. 88 at Lebanon Valley action. Williamson has done everything but win so far this year in Series competition However he is coming off the biggest win in his career at Orange County Fair Speedway where he took home $100,000 on their Centennial Weekend celebration.

The Ringoes Rocket Ryan Godown is leading the Rookie of the Year standings and he is riding a wave of momentum from Orange County. The driver of the No. 26 machine is starting to find his groove. His Series best second place in the Battle on the Midway 100 guarantees him a starting position in the Billy Whittaker Cars 200 at NAPA Super DIRT Week XLVIII on Sunday, October 13. Godown is looking to keep the ball rolling at Lebanon Valley Speedway.

The red racers on team Gypsum are running fourth and fifth in points. Billy Decker has eleven top tens in the twelve races so far while Larry Wight is hot on his tail in fifth. Wight secured his Billy Whittaker Cars 200 birth at Plattsburgh earlier this year.

Demetrios Drellos and Jack Lehner are the two other Series rookies in the race. They are running eleventh and twelfth respectively. Lehner won the Last Chance Showdown at Orange County while Drellos has made improvements in Time Trials and Heat Races.

Joining Tremont in defending the high banks' turf is Keith Flach, Andy Bachetti, JR Heffner, LJ Lombardo, and many others.

With so much on the line, race fans can't afford to miss this one. $25,500 is one of the largest winners' share in the business. And that's not all. The winner gets a guaranteed start in the Billy Whittaker Cars 200 at Oswego Speedway on Sunday, October 13.

Alex Tagliani termine deuxième en série de camionnettes NASCAR Gander Outdoors à Mosport

Montréal, 26 août 2019 - Alex Tagliani a réalisé sa meilleure performance dans la série de camionnettes NASCAR Gander Outdoors (NGOTS) en terminant au deuxième rang lors de l'épreuve principale présentée dimanche au Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) situé près de Bowmanville en Ontario. L'équipe Kyle Busch Motorsports de Tagliani a joué la meilleure stratégie lorsqu'elle a décidé de ravitailler très tôt la Tundra numéro 51 du pilote originaire de Lachenaie lors de la première des trois étapes de la course de 64 tours afin de bien le situer pour la fin de l'épreuve. Tagliani, qui avait qualifié sa Tundra CanTorque/Spectra Premium/RONA en quatrième position, a terminé 13e à l'issue de la première étape de 20 tours, puis huitième à la fin de la seconde manche. Cependant, les arrêts obligatoires de plusieurs pilotes qui précédaient Tag à la fin de la seconde manche lui ont permis de se retrouver au deuxième rang à la relance de l'étape finale. Au cours des 24 derniers tours, Tagliani a maintenu sa position, mais il n'a pas été en mesure de rattraper le détenteur de la position de tête et éventuel gagnant Brett Moffitt qui semblait être sur une autre planète dimanche. Ben Rhodes a terminé troisième devant Sheldon Creed et Austin Hill.

Pour la première fois depuis un bon moment, il n'y a pas eu d'incidents majeurs au virage 10 du dernier tour de la course de camionnettes à Mosport, mais on ne peut pas dire la même chose à propos de la dixième étape de la série NASCAR Pinty'sdisputée plus tôt en matinée. Alex Tagliani, qui avait remporté la course automnale l'an dernier, était en mesure de répéter l'exploit au volant de sa Chevrolet numéro 18 EpiPen/RONA/Spectra Premium, mais il a été victime d'un geste sinon vicieux, mais tout de même prémédité lors d'une poussette de l'éventuel vainqueur Kevin Lacroix au virage 10 du dernier tour du temps supplémentaire NASCAR pour se retrouver quatrième à l'arrivée. S'élançant du deuxième rang à côté de Lacroix pour le Total Quartz 200, Tagliani a pris les commandes de la course au 29e des 53 passages de la course et menait l'épreuve devant Marc-Antoine Camirand au 48e tour lorsque le drapeau jaune a été déployé, mettant en péril la victoire de Tagliani. Après la relance au 52e passage, Lacroix a doublé Camirand avant de défoncer Tagliani au dernier virage de la course. Camirand a terminé deuxième devant Jean-François Dumoulin.

« L'équipe 22 Racing m'avait préparé une superbe voiture pour l'épreuve NASCAR Pinty's, mais le résultat final est un peu décevant pour l'équipe, surtout de la façon dont ma course s'est jouée dans le dernier virage, a déclaré Tagliani. J'ai eu l'occasion de visionner le déroulement de l'incident à partir des prises de vue de l'intérieur de la voiture de Kevin (Lacroix) et je peux confirmer qu'il avait amplement l'opportunité de ne pas me frapper. Au lieu de ça, on voit qu'il accélère pour me frapper durement. Pour moi, ce n'est pas une façon de gagner, mais parfois, il est difficile pour certaines personnes de résister à la tentation. En fin de compte, j'ai trouvé très « cheap » sa façon de gagner.

« Lors de la course de camionnettes NASCAR, cette deuxième place a été mon meilleur résultat dans cette série. Par contre, nous étions venus ici pour gagner pour tous les amateurs et surtout pour nos commanditaires canadiens CanTorque, Spectra Premium dont leur radiateur équipait ma Tundra et pour RONA qui a organisé un concours au Toronto Indy et au Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières dont les gagnants venant de ces deux villes se méritaient un weekend VIP avec l'équipe à Mosport. Je crois qu'ils ont grandement apprécié l'expérience.

« En course, nous avons mal évalué la performance des nouveaux pneus de course qui se sont avérés une seconde plus lents au tour. De plus, le devant de la camionnette ne voulait pas tourner dans les virages rapides et je devais ralentir à ces endroits. Nous étions limités, mais l'équipe Kyle Busch Motorsports a fait de l'excellent travail en modifiant la camionnette à chacun de mes arrêts pour me donner une chance de me mesurer avec le meneur et éventuel vainqueur Brett Moffitt. Mais il nous en manquait un peu trop. Tout de même, l'équipe KBM a été satisfaite de mes résultats. J'espère revenir l'an prochain, » a conclu Tagliani.

Vingt-cinq voitures ont pris le départ de la course NASCAR Pinty's et 18 ont croisé l'arrivée, dont 14 sur le tour du vainqueur. L'épreuve de 53 tours a été neutralisée à six reprises pour un total de 27 tours. Le Total Quartz 200 sera diffusé sur RDS2 le vendredi 20 septembre à 22 heures.

Au cours de ses dix courses NASCAR Pinty's à Mosport, Tagliani a remporté une victoire, terminé six fois dans le top cinq et huit fois dans le top 10. En 81 départs NASCAR Pinty's, Tagliani a récolté 10 poles, 9 victoires et 27 podiums. Il a terminé 37 fois dans le Top-5 et 56 dans le Top-10.

Au championnat des pilotes :
Grand bouleversement en tête du classement des pilotes avec la victoire de Lacroix qui rejoint Andrew Ranger qui a terminé neuvième à Mosport. Ils sont maintenant à égalité au premier rang avec 421 points chacun, mais Ranger demeure premier en vertu de ses trois victoires versus les deux de Lacroix. Tagliani a récolté 42 points avec sa quatrième position et pour avoir mené le plus grand nombre de tours pour un total de 394 points. Il se retrouve à seulement cinq points du troisième rang détenu par LP Dumoulin qui en totalise 399. D.J. Kennington est cinquième avec 365 points.

PROCHAINE ÉTAPE : AUTODROME SAINT-EUSTACHE
La série NASCAR Pinty's revient au Québec pour sa dernière visite à l'Autodrome Saint-Eustache le samedi 7 septembre à 20 h 30. Cette visite à l'ovale de 4 dixièmes de mille sera la toute dernière, car l'Autodrome sera démolie à la fin de sa saison de course 2019.

Au volant de la voiture #04 Spectra Premium | Groupe Bellemare | Trois-Rivières Mitsubishi | MIA | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat, Jean-François Dumoulin s'est présenté au Canadian Tire Motorsport Park avec la ferme intention de terminer sur le podium pour sa dernière course de la saison. Mission accomplie ! Dixième sur la grille de départ, Jean-François Dumoulin nous a servi son pilotage exceptionnel de bout en bout, en dépassant stratégiquement avec toute la détermination que nous lui connaissons jusqu'à mener un tour de piste. Toujours à surveiller, ce maître de l'attaque promettait de piloter de façon intelligente et efficace et d'être présent dans le peloton de tête en fin de course. En effet, après une bataille dans les derniers tours, c'est en troisième position que l'aîné des frères Dumoulin a franchi la ligne d'arrivée.

« Je suis plus que satisfait de notre course aujourd'hui. Nous avons effectué plusieurs changements pendant les essais pour améliorer la voiture. En qualification, nous n'avons pas réussi à faire un bon tour de piste avec nos pneus neufs, ralenti par des drapeaux jaunes, toutefois nous étions confiants pour la course. La voiture #04 Spectra Premium | Groupe Bellemare | Trois-Rivières Mitsubishi | MIA | Bernier Crépeau Chrysler Fiat était rapide malgré un léger sous-virage auquel et j'ai pu adapter mon pilotage. Au 47^e tour, en cinquième position près des meneurs, j'ai opté pour gérer mon rythme et me laisser un peu de pneus pour toutes les éventualités dans les derniers tours. Cela a fonctionné puisque la dernière relance m'a ouvert la porte pour terminer sur le podium, » conclut Jean-François Dumoulin, fier de son équipe.

Saison 2019
Si la saison de course se clôture pour Jean-François Dumoulin, celle de Dumoulin Compétition n'est pas terminée et ses fonctions à titre de directeur général se poursuivent. Avec deux podiums, un top-5 et une sixième position, ses performances en piste ont été des plus intéressantes.

BLIZT de défoulement contre le cancer

Le Grand Défoulement Dumoulin Compétition au profit de la Fondation québécoise du cancer se poursuit. Chaque geste est un pas de plus vers le podium. Le 8 mai 2018, c'est avec fierté que les frères Jean-François et Louis-Philippe Dumoulin ont dévoilé « L'Espace Dumoulin » au Musée Gilles-Villeneuve. À l'occasion des « 50 ans sur le volant » de la famille Dumoulin, les amateurs de course qui n'ont pas pu découvrir « L'Espace Dumoulin » l'an dernier, auront la possibilité de le faire cette année, puisque l'exposition se poursuit. Vous aurez l'occasion de voir la création de Luc Pilon qui a inspiré le logo des 50 ans.

Fin de semaine parfaite pour Kevin Lacroix avec sa cinquième victoire au CTMP

Kevin Lacroix a quitté le Riverside International Speedway d'Antigonish (Nouvelle-Écosse) la semaine dernière avec un arrière-goût d'en avoir échappé une. Il avait mené le plus grand nombre de tours en course, jusqu'à l'entrée du virage 1du dernier tour, avant que Jason Hathaway ne le frappe, ce qui provoque une dernière neutralisation, et « vole » la victoire que Lacroix pensait dans le sac en sa faveur à la suite d'une prolongation palpitante de deux tours.

Cette semaine, Lacroix s'est lancé sur une piste qu'il connaît bien - le Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (CTMP) - dans l'espoir de relancer ses espoirs pour le titre 2019. Lacroix a exécuté un week-end « parfait », remportant la pole et le TOTAL Quartz 200 dans la foulée.

« Nous avons été assez secoués après la course [Riverside], ayant marqué moins de points que prévu. Maintenant, nous sommes ici [CTMP] et nous voilà avec un week-end parfait, c'était le plan et c'est ce qui s'est passé. Nous sommes donc vraiment heureux, » de dire le pilote après la course.

Lacroix a mené les 20 premiers tours au volant de sa Bumper to Bumper Dodge No. 74 avant que la catastrophe ne frappe. Lacroix a fait un arrêt au stand imprévu, le repoussant à plus de 10 secondes derrière les meneurs.

Le pilote de Saint-Eustache a alors profité des relances pour se frayer rapidement un chemin vers les meneurs. Un accident de fin de course a mis en place une relance en prolongation NASCAR, dont Lacroix a parfaitement profité. La victoire de Lacroix, jumelée à des problèmes pour Andrew Ranger, le meneur aux points, a maintenant placé les deux protagonistes sur un pied d'égalité pour le titre, à seulement trois courses de l'arrivée.

« Andrew Ranger n'a pas eu de chance, un peu comme nous en début de saison et ça nous lie avant les trois prochaines courses. Ce sera une fin de saison excitante. Nous attendons avec impatience les dernières courses, je suis très confiant, mais je sais qu'Andrew sera bon là-bas aussi, alors nous devons rester à la hauteur, » déclarait Lacroix.

Alex Tagliani domine la partie médiane de l'épreuve et conteste les relances avec Lacroix. Comme des multiples fins de courses depuis des années, d'innombrables camions et voitures négociant le virage 10, le dernier, Lacroix a plongé à l'intérieur de Tagliani dans ce virage à droite, où Tagliani avait laissé une petite ouverture. Lacroix s'est frayé un chemin et doublé la Chevrolet Rona/EpiPen pour remporter sa cinquième victoire au CTMP, balayant les deux épreuves annuelles pour la deuxième fois de sa carrière.

Dans le nuage de poussière qui a suivi la fin de la course, Marc-Antoine Camirand a réussi à se faufiler et à décrocher la deuxième place, son premier podium en 2019. Il égalise ainsi son meilleur résultat au CTMP, datant de mai 2018.

« Je suis heureux d'être de retour sur le podium. C'était une course folle, nous nous sommes battus pour la première place tout au long de la course et à la dernière relance, quand Kevin était troisième, je savais qu'il allait pousser fort pour doubler Alex et je les ai laissés partir, » ajoutait Marc-Antoine Camirand.

Dans un acte d'indignation post-course, Tagliani a frotté la n°74 contre sa no 18, forçant Lacroix à quitter la piste et rouler sur le gazon.

Pour sa deuxième course consécutive sur circuit routier, Jean-François Dumoulin s'est retrouvé sur le podium. En tête d'un tour et en pilotant proprement tout au long de la course, Dumoulin a pu doubler Tagliani en route vers le damier lors de la dernière relance et remporter son quatrième podium en carrière.

Bien que Tagliani ait perdu l'avantage dans le dernier virage, il a réussi à conserver sa quatrième place. Anthony Simone, du CBRT, a obtenu son meilleur résultat de sa saison en cinquième place.

Jason Hathaway et D.J. Kennington ont terminé respectivement sixième et septième.

Simon Dion-Viens a pu reprendre le temps perdu lors d'un dérapage bien contrôlé et termine huitième. Andrew Ranger, le meneur aux points en début de weekend, a crevé le pneu arrière droit après une touchette avec le no 20 de Raymond Guay, laissant Ranger neuvième au final. Julia Landauer a été impliquée dans un incident avec Chandler Smith, dont la voiture était bien amochée. Pour sa part, Landauer a terminé dixième.

Les amateurs pourront voir la course sur TSN, dimanche, le 1er septembre à 13 h 30, et sur RDS2 le vendredi, 20 septembre à 22 h. La série NASCAR Pinty's Series sera de retour en action samedi le 7 septembre pour le Lucas Oil 250, la dernière course NASCAR à l'Autodrome Saint-Eustache.

Kevin Lacroix Caps off Perfect Weekend with Fifth CTMP Win

Kevin Lacroix left Riverside International Speedway last week feeling like he had let one get away. After leading the most laps, including the white flag lap, Lacroix lost to Jason Hathaway in a thrilling overtime finish.

This week, Lacroix came into a track he knows well – Canadian Tire Motorsports Park – looking to jumpstart his title hopes. Lacroix put together a 'perfect' weekend, taking the pole award before winning the TOTAL Quartz 200 in heart pounding fashion.

"We were pretty much shaken after the race [Riverside] for points" Lacroix said. And now we're here [CTMP] and we had the chance to make a perfect weekend, that was the plan, thats what happened so we're really happy."

Lacroix's led the first 20 laps in his No.74 Bumper to Bumper Dodge before calamity struck. Lacroix made an unscheduled pit stop, pushing him down the order and over 10 seconds back from the leaders.

The Saint-Eustache, Quebec driver took advantage of restarts to fight his way up to front. A late race accident set a up a NASCAR Overtime finish, which Lacroix took perfect advantage of. Lacroix's win, coupled with trouble for points leader Andrew Ranger has the pair tied atop the standings with three races to go.

"Andrew Ranger had some bad luck and it ties us heading into the next three races. That's going to be an exciting end of the season" Lacroix added "We're really looking forward to the last few races, I'm really confident but I know Andrew is going be good there too so we have to keep up."

Alex Tagliani had dominated the middle portion of the event leading 24 laps. In NASCAR overtime it was a two-man fight. Like countless Trucks and Pinty's races past, Lacroix made his move in the infamous turn 10. Diving to the inside, Lacroix muscled his way by the Rona/EpiPen Chevrolet to claim his fifth CTMP victory, sweeping both events for the second time in his career.

In a post-race act of displeasure, Tagliani hit the door of the No.74 forcing him into the grass. No further altercations occurred post race.

In the ensuing dust cloud, Marc-Antoine Camirand was able to sneak through and claim his first podium of 2019. Camirand's No. 22 GM Paille Chevrolet equals his best CTMP finish that he scored last May.

"I'm just happy to be back on the podium," Camirand said. "It was a crazy race, we battled for the lead all race long and on the last restart when Kevin was in third place, I knew he was going to push hard to pass Alex and I let them go."

For his second road course race in a row, JF Dumoulin found himself on the podium. Leading a lap and running clean all race long, Dumoulin snuck by Tagliani in the final corner to claim his fourth career podium.

Despite having the lead taken away in the final curve, Tagliani was able to hold on for a fourth-place finish. CBRT's Anthony Simone would score his best finish of the season in fifth.

Jason Hathaway and D.J Kennington were sixth and seventh, respectively.

Simon Dion-Viens rebounded after a mid-race spin to finish eighth. Points leader Andrew Ranger blew a right rear tire after contact with the No.20 of Raymond Guay, Ranger would come home ninth. Julia Landauer was involved in a crash with Chandler Smith, suffering heavy rear-end damage Landauer would complete the top ten on the lead lap.

Fans can catch the race on TSN, Sunday, September. 1 at 1:30 p.m. and on RDS2 – Friday, September. 20 at 10 p.m. The NASCAR Pinty's Series will be back in action Saturday September 7 for the Lucas Oil 250, the final NASCAR race at Autodrome Saint-Eustache.
