PORSCHE CARS CANADA TO PROMOTE THE ULTRA 94 GT3 CUP CHALLENGE CANADA AT THE CANADIAN MOTORSPORTS EXPO

The Canadian Racing Season Begins February 7, 8, & 9, 2014 at Toronto's International Centre

(TORONTO, ON // JANUARY 9, 2014) Since its launch in 2011, theUltra 94 Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin has grown into one of this country's most competitive and entertaining, single-marque racing divisions.

Determined to build on the series' momentum, Porsche Cars Canada is bringing the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada series to the Canadian Motorsports Expo – for the first time ever – with an eye to enticing and educating drivers, teams and spectators about this fast growing Canadian series.

"We're looking forward to showcasing what we believe is a great racing program," said Patrick Saint-Pierre, Public Relations Director for Porsche Cars Canada Ltd. "But the point we'd like to get across about the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge is that we're not talking about pro drivers in this series, it's more about driver development. This series is all about learning and being an ideal place for young drivers to race once they've graduated from karting."

Based on the production, 450 horsepower 911 GT3 RS road car, the Porsche Cup car has become a standard-bearer in worldwide competition, and has enjoyed similar status in Canada.

"I think that there are several things that have contributed to the success of this series," continues Saint-Pierre. "Not only are the drivers  familiar with the Porsche brand and its rich racing heritage, but they also have the benefit of being able to rely on the support of Porsche Motorsport North America at every race. And the appeal goes beyond the race track; many people are surprised at the camaraderie that exists in this series. It's a family-friendly atmosphere that we are very proud to be a part of."

In 2013, the Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge Canada series raced ten times over five race weekends on four of the country's most storied circuits. From May to September, the series made appearances at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, and the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières before concluding the campaign at Calabogie Motorsports Park.

"We have yet to finalize our schedule for 2014, but of course we'd like to return to those venues," says Saint-Pierre. "We're very open to suggestions from the drivers about where they'd like to run. We will try to accommodate them and find an event that will work for everyone, from the drivers and teams to the fans."

Running a 'race within a race' at every event, victories are determined in two distinct divisions (Platinum and Gold), with both classes also declaring a 'Masters' race victor.

In the 2013 championship, Maple, Ontario's David Ostella edged Quebec's Chris Green by six points to claim the Platinum crown. The Gold class championship chase was even tighter, as just four points separated runner-up Tim Sanderson from champion Carlos de Quesada.

"That is a true demonstration of the competitiveness of this series," said Saint-Pierre. "And I expect that we will see more of the same in 2014."

"We don't have a confirmed entry list yet, but our appearance at the Canadian Motorsports Expo will bring further exposure and may draw more interest," he adds. "We have a new vehicle – the 991 – coming to the market, and I know the demand has been high for that car. The 991 is in limited supply for this year, but I think we will see more than a few of them make it onto the track for the 2014 season."

Visitors to the 8th Annual Canadian Motorsports Expo will have the opportunity to see a 2014 Gold Class car courtesy of Woodbridge, Ontario's Pfaff Motors. Showgoers will also be able to meet and chat with several of the Porsche series' competitors.

Concludes Saint-Pierre, "We've enjoyed a lot of local support from the Toronto-based teams and drivers.  Their response, as well as the one from the dedicated fans has been tremendous… We are eager to see what the new season has in store as it promises to be the best yet."

Speaking on behalf of the CME, show co-promoter David Weber said, "We are honoured that Porsche Cars Canada will be coming to the show to promote the Ultra 94 Porsche GT3 Challenge Canada series. The CME attracts a diverse mix of racers and fans – from across the motorsports spectrum – the vast majority of whom will be very interested in learning about what this growing Canadian series has to offer."

VARAC TO PREVIEW THE 2014 CANADIAN HISTORIC GRAND PRIX AT THE CME

VARAC TO PREVIEW THE 2014 CANADIAN HISTORIC GRAND PRIX AT THE CME

The Canadian Racing Season Begins February 7, 8, & 9, 2014 at Toronto's International Centre

VARAC logo(TORONTO, ON // JANUARY 10, 2014) Vintage car racing is widely recognized as the fastest growing motorsports discipline in the world, with a multitude of events attracting entrants and loyal fans in ever increasing numbers. Accordingly, one of the most popular dates on the annual southern Ontario racing calendar is the Canadian Historic Grand Prix, held annually at Canadian Tire Motorsports Park.

Produced and presented by the Vintage Auto Racing Association of Canada (VARAC), and sanctioned by CASC-OR, this three-day celebration of classic automobile competition brings to life the concept of 'Racing Into The Past,' with on-track activities, car cruises and shows, and celebrity forums.

Offering a preview of the 2014 Canadian Historic Grand Prix, VARAC organizers – along with several of their classic cars – will be in attendance at this year's Canadian Motorsports Expo.

The Canadian Motorsports Expo Powered by Inside Track Motorsport News runs from February 7-9, 2014 at Toronto's International Centre, adjacent to Pearson International Airport.

"We run Vintage, Historic and G70+ class races at most Ontario regional events, but the Canadian Historic Grand Prix is the 'big' show of the year; it's our true vintage celebration," explained Bob DeShane, Director of the CHGP. "The Canadian Motorsports Expo is the best place for us to tell our story, and to promote our unique brand of racing to the motorsport community."

The Canadian Historic Grand Prix takes place June 13-15, 2014 at CTMP. The featured event this year will be the 'Triumph versus MG Canadian-American Showdown,' with entries already confirmed from across Canada and the United States. For the fans of German marques, the CHGP will also present the 'Legends of the Autobahn' featuring Mercedes, BMW and Porsche cars.

Meanwhile, the off-track action will be just as entertaining.

"Bob Tullius will be our Grand Marshall this year," continued DeShane. "Most people will remember him for his Group 44 Jaguar Racing team. People will have a chance to exchange memories with him and maybe get a photo or autograph. And on Sunday morning, we will take a couple of hours to host the 'Legends of Mosport, a 'meet and greet' for fans at the banquet tent."

Bringing the local community on board for the Canadian Historic Grand Prix weekend, DeShane and the VARAC team – in conjunction with the Bowmanville (ON) Business Improvement Association – have organized a Friday night, 'Checkered Flag Cruise' which will take over the downtown core of the host town for a automotive street party.

"The CHGP weekend gets bigger every year, we expect to have well over 200 competitors in six different divisions showing up in 2014," states DeShane.

He adds, "There are lots of classic race cars still sitting in barns and garages. If people think they'd like to get them ready and bring them out to the track, we'd be more than happy to have them. They can come out to the Canadian Motorsports Expo and we can give them all the information that they need. And if they just want to do some 'bench racing,' we can do that, too!"

ABOUT THE VINTAGE RACING ASSOCIATION OF CANADA (VARAC): Formed in 1976, the Vintage Auto Racing Association of Canada was created provide a central organizing body through which the vintage racing enthusiast could communicate and organize race meetings for eligible Vintage and Historic racing and sports cars. A regular attendee on Ontario regional racing weekends, the Canadian Historic Grand Prix is VARAC's feature annual event. It's a standalone, three day festival of vintage motorsport held at the 2.459-mile Canadian Tire Motorsport Park facility. Dillon Puts Historic No. 3 Atop Speed Charts At Daytona

Dillon Puts Historic No. 3 Atop Speed Charts At Daytona

Sunoco Rookie of the Year Hopeful Shines in First NASCAR Sprint Cup Test of 2014

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (January 10, 2014) – Austin Dillon knows there will be pressure racing the No. 3 car made famous by the late Dale Earnhardt. Today, he just raised the stakes with his first test in that car at Daytona International Speedway.

The Richard Childress Racing driver planted the historic No. 3 atop the speed charts on the first and only day of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series testing at the World Center of Racing. His 195.109 mph led all drivers in single-car runs during this tune-up for the 56th running of the Daytona 500 (Feb. 23, 1p.m. on FOX).

"I'm honored to be in the 3," said Dillon, who is driving a number that Dale Earnhardt drove to victory 24 times at Daytona. The defending NASCAR Nationwide Series will be a top contender for NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors in 2014. "This is special and walking into this [NASCAR Sprint] Cup garage this weekend is pretty cool. There are so many heroes in this garage for me, and just being in this garage is going to be pressure."

A rainout Thursday raised the pressure on all drivers Friday, as teams made the most of a testing session that was reduced to a single 8-hour window. Two of the sport's biggest stars turned their first Daytona laps with new teams, including past Daytona 500 winners Kevin Harvick and Ryan Newman. Harvick now drives the No. 4 Chevrolet for Stewart-Haas Racing, while Newman is behind the wheel of the No. 31 Chevrolet for Richard Childress Racing.

Forty-one drivers turned laps in Gen-6 Chevrolets, Fords and Toyotas, which are entering their second year of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition. Those cars featured a new 4.5-inch spoiler, designed to add more rear downforce for stability. Results were positive. Thirty-three cars topped 190 mph and the new aero package performed well in traffic, which was tested in the draft during the final hour of testing.

"It's a comfortable zone for the teams to be into, so really this test is all about the teams and those guys working on their set-ups and their engine packages and things of that nature," said Robin Pemberton, NASCAR vice president of competition and racing development.  "So far speeds look to be what we expected."

Pemberton was pleased with what he saw from all of Friday's drivers, including retired NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace. The man who drove Team Penske to NASCAR prominence donned a throwback Miller Lite fire suit and turned laps in Brad Keselowski's No. 2 Ford.

NASCAR Preseason Thunder testing at Daytona continues for four more days, as the NASCAR Nationwide Series' top drivers take to the track Saturday and Sunday. NASCAR Camping World Truck Series drivers will test Monday and Tuesday.  Testing sessions for all four remaining days are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.

The top five speeds from Friday were posted by Dillon, Brian Scott in the No. 33 Chevrolet (194.582 mph), Matt Crafton in the No. 27 Chevrolet (194.342 mph), Aric Almirola in the No. 43 Ford (193.828 mph) and Kyle Larson in the No. 42 Chevrolet (193.411 mph). Six-time and reigning NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson was 11th on the charts, with a fast lap of 193.021 mph.

Champions Highlight Early Entries For Winter Meltdown At New Smyrna

Champions Highlight Early Entries For Winter Meltdown At New Smyrna

-       For Immediate Release

CHARLOTTE, NC (January 10) – Early entries are starting to flow in to the Naples, ME offices of the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) for the upcoming Florida Winter Meltdown on February 7-8 at New Smyrna Speedway.  PASS will help kick off Florida’s annual Speedweeks festivities at New Smyrna Speedway with the Winter Meltdown serving as the season opener for both the PASS South Super Late Models and PASS National Series.

The early entries are highlighted by champions from New England, the Southeast and the Midwest.  Defending PASS North Super Late Model champion Cassius Clark of Farmington, ME was among the first to file an entry for this year’s 125 lap Winter Meltdown at New Smyrna.  In addition to his PASS North title in 2013, Clark was the inaugural champion of the PASS National Series back in 2008.  The Hight Motorsports #77 driven by Clark was not only consistent, but fast, winning two races en route to the championship last year and will no doubt give Northeastern fans something to cheer about in Florida.

4-time PASS North Super Late Model champion Ben Rowe has a long history of making the trek down south from his home in Turner, ME and will do so again for the Winter Meltdown.  PASS’s All-Time Winningest driver swept the 2009 titles in both PASS South and the PASS National Series and hopes to mount another title run at New Smyrna Speedway.  He finished 14th after a late race incident in the first Winter Meltdown at New Smyrna in 2010.  In addition, to his PASS South championship, Rowe has been no stranger to victory lane on the southern tour winning eight times, including two Mason Dixon Meltdown triumphs and a win in last year’s North-South Shootout at Caraway Speedway.

A driver making his PASS Super Late Model debut at the Winter Meltdown will be West Virginia’s Travis Braden.  Following a Super Late Model championship in the Midwest last year, Braden will bring his West Virginia University-sponsored machine to New Smyrna Speedway in his first test against the short track stars of PASS.  Braden hopes a good finish in the Winter Meltdown could lead to more PASS starts in 2014.

Another early entrant and a new addition to the PASS South Super Late Model tour will be rookie Brandon Setzer.  The Newton, NC driver hopes to follow in the footsteps of his dad, Dennis, and make his mark on the short tracks of the South this year.  Brandon Setzer has had success in his own right with Late Model Supertruck wins at Hickory Motor Speedway and captured the Limited Late Model track championship in 2013 at Wake County Speedway.  After a strong PASS South debut last year in the Over The Mountain 150 at Hickory, Setzer will be looking to start his first full PASS South season off right with a good run in his first ever visit to New Smyrna Speedway.

Veteran Brandon Ward has also filed an entry for the Winter Meltdown and hopes to put a frustrating 2013 behind him with a strong showing at the beach.  Although he finished 10th in points, Ward had no wins and no top 5’s to show for his effort.  This after a 2012 season which saw him capture two wins and establish himself as a championship contender.  Ward returns to New Smyrna Speedway where he made one of his first starts with the New Day Motorsports team, finishing 19th in the Inaugural Winter Meltdown back in 2010.

Entries continue to come in daily for what looks to be one of the biggest Super Late Model races of the Winter.  Entry forms the 3rd Running of the Florida Winter Meltdown 125 can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.

Action gets under way on Friday, February 7th at New Smyrna Speedway with practice for all divisions from 1:30-5 PM.  On Saturday, February 8th, pit gates will open at 10 AM, with practice from Noon- 3 PM.  Qualifying will begin at 4 PM and racing will start at 6 PM, featuring 125 laps for the PASS Super Late Models and additional divisions to be determined.

The Pro All Stars Series is recognized as North America’s premier sanctioning body for asphalt Super Late Models and boasts such marquee events as the Florida Winter Meltdown at New Smyrna Speedway, PASS South’s Easter Bunny 150 at the historic Hickory Motor Speedway, the Autobus La Quebecoise Triple Crown at Autodrome Chaudière, and the legendary Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway.  For technical information concerning all PASS divisions please send questions to passracing@roadrunner.com.  For media or marketing questions, please contact Alan Dietz at 704-231-2039 or alandietzpass@live.com.  Please visit ProAllStarsSeries.com for more information.  And, don’t forget to “Like” the Pro All Stars Series on Facebook or follow us on Twitter to keep up with breaking news as it happens.

NAPLES, ME (December 13) – The Pro All Stars Series (PASS), in association with series supporter Northern Race Tire, will be presenting a unique set of awards to the each of the division's Super Late Model Champions.  The 2013 PASS National, PASS North, and PASS South Super Late Model Champions will each be presented with diamond encrusted championship rings in recognition of their hard work during the racing season.  In addition, the PASS Pro Late Model, PASS Modified, and PASS Sportsman champions will also receive championship rings, similar in design, but unique to honor their championship seasons.

The PASS Champions' rings are manufactured and designed by Stylecraft.  From Super Bowl rings to civic awards, Stylecraft has been making fine jewelry handcrafted in the United States for over six decades.  The 2013 PASS Champions' rings will be massive in size and will be emblazoned with the PASS logo and other jewels.  Additionally, each member of the championship winning teams will also be presented with one-of-a-kind PASS Championship belt buckles to commemorate their accomplishments.

Durham, NC's Jay Fogleman and Farmington, ME's Cassius Clark will be the first recipients of racing's newest annual award.  In what he has said was his final season racing for a championship, Fogleman competed for multiple teams on the way to his second straight PASS National Championship and was also able to claim his first PASS South Super Late Model Championship.  Like Fogleman, Clark was finally able to take his first PASS North Super Late Model title after years of trying.

"We are very excited to be giving this opportunity to North America's best Super Late Model racers," said PASS President Tom Mayberry.  "Jay Fogleman and Cassius Clark exemplify everything PASS stands for and no matter where they go, these rings will stand as a symbol of the hard work and dedication it took to achieve one of short track racing's ultimate goals."

In 2014, PASS and Northern Race Tire will once again present each of the series Super Late Model champions with custom rings and belt buckles in recognition of their hard work and sacrifices.  The 2014 season will kick off with the 3rd running of the Florida Winter Meltdown at New Smyrna Speedway February 7-8.  The Florida Winter Meltdown will serve as the first race for both the PASS National and PASS South Super Late Model seasons. The complete 2014 schedules for the PASS North and PASS South Super Late Models can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.  The PASS National Series schedule will be released shortly after the New Year.

ACT 2014 Schedule Released

ACT 2014 Schedule Released

For Immediate Release:                                                           ACT – 120213-74

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) released its 2014 schedule which is highlighted by visits to nine (9) different Northeast tracks. The schedule includes a total of twelve (12) events with nine (9) Championship point counting events and three popular ‘special’ events on the calendar.

The traditional event to open the 2014 campaign on April 12-13 will once again be at the Lee USA Speedway in Lee, New Hampshire. The ACT has been visiting the 1/3 mile oval since Red and Judy MacDonald purchased the speed plant in 1987. “It is just one of those relationships that have endured throughout the past 25 years. We tried to help Red and Judy when they first started, and they have been there for us whenever we needed help over the years. This kind of relationship, in this type of business, is generally very rare, but greatly appreciated” said Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour, which was established in 1986.

The home of the ACT, Thunder Road International Speedbowl will host its only point counting event with the Merchants Bank 150 on opening weekend April 26-27. Next up will be the historic Spring Green 114 to be held at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Fair Haven, VT on Sunday, May 4. This will be the fourth opening day Spring Green event at the super fast ½ mile oval.

The teams will take a couple weeks off before returning to action at what has become a favorite track of many ACT teams, the Airborne Speedway. The first of two point counting events will be held on Saturday, May 17 at the Plattsburgh, NY oval. The final point event of the season, and second at Airborne, will be the Fall Foliage 200 on Saturday, September 27.

The month of June will see two events in the Granite State. Riverside Speedway in Groveton will hold a 150 lap race on Saturday, June 7. In one of the most memorable events of 2013, winner Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. from Hudson, NH said, “This bullring races unbelievably great. We had so much fun racing last year. It was white knuckle and about as close racing as you can have. I am excited about having Riverside on the schedule again.” A regular stop on the ACT Late Model Tour since 1998, the scenic White Mountain Motorsports Park (WMMP) is scheduled for an annual 150 lap event on Saturday, June 21.

One of New England’s premiere race tracks, Beech Ridge Motor Speedway (BRMS), will again present an ACT event on Saturday, August 9. The very competitive 1/3 mile seacoast Speedway has become one of the most exciting events on the annual schedule for both teams and fans. A different winner at every BRMS event for the ACT Late Models is what the record book shows. The summer visit promises to produce one of the best events of the year.

Two weeks to re-group and off to the only US-Canadian event of the year, the 5th annual CAN-AM 200 will take place at the Circuit Riverside Speedway in Ste Croix, QC. The scenic 5/8ths mile speedway sits next to the St Lawrence River and always guarantees a competitive event as the best of the Serie ACT and US teams square off for bragging rights. This event will take place on Saturday, August 23.

The US ACT competitors will also compete throughout the summer race season at three ACT sanctioned ‘special non-point events’. Three popular events will post combined purses of over a quarter million dollars ($250,000.00). The “International” at the Airborne Speedway will take place the weekend of July 20. The best of all ACT teams from both the US and Canada will be invited to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway during the NASCAR Cup Chase weekend in September for the 6th annual Bond Auto ACT Invitational. The 55th run for the Milk Bowl will be held at Thunder Road International Speedbowl in Barre, VT and will close out the 2014 season the weekend of October 4/5.
