Réunion des pilotes NASCAR et ASE  17 janvier 2015

L'Autodrome St-Eustache invite ses pilotes réguliers et tout autres pilotes intéressés à joindre les rangs des catégories NASCAR et ASE du circuit des Basses-Laurentides, ce samedi 17 janvier.

La journée de réunion pré-saison se déroulera en deux volets, alors que la direction accueillera tout d'abord  les équipes de la série NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil à compter de 10h00 au Bistro-bar de l'Autodrome. Les points importants qui seront traités sont notamment le calendrier officiel 2015, les bourses, fond de points, bonis et prix spéciaux. Il sera également question de circuit routier, du GP3R, nouveauté au championnat NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil. Un nouveau format avantageux d'inscription pour la saison complète avec éligibilité à des bonis spéciaux sera aussi présenté aux équipes.

La série NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil, est celle qui connait actuellement le plus important engouement au Québec, notamment avec une moyenne de 21 voitures au départ de chacune des 10 épreuves la saison dernière. La crème des meilleurs pilotes québécois assaisonnée de quelques excellents pilotes ontariens et américains contribuent au succès croissant de la série. De plus, le couronnement du champion 2014, Jean-François Bouvrette,  au NASCAR Hall Of Fame de Charlotte USA en décembre dernier, a fait beaucoup jaser, et plusieurs pilotes rêvent eux aussi de vivre cette expérience unique de se retrouver parmi l'élite mondiale en fin de saison.

À compter de 13h00, ce sera au tour des pilotes des séries NASCAR Sport Compacte, NASCAR Légende Modifiée et Challenge 4 d'être accueillis au Bistro-Bar de l'ASE. Les points importants traités seront notamment le calendrier officiel 2015, le fond de points NASCAR ainsi qu'un survol de la réglementation de chacune des séries.

La direction de l'Autodrome St-Eustache vous attend en grand nombre pour cette réunion en vue de la prochaine saison de course automobile.

ACT Announces Third Race Scheduled at New Smyrna Speedway

Waterbury, VT – Robert Hart, Promoter and Owner of the New Smyrna Speedway (NSS) and Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour (ACT) made a surprise announcement today by scheduling a third event for the ACT Late Model teams. The popular New England and Quebec based touring group have added a Sunday night, February 15, 2015 date to their trip to the Florida track. The American Racer Challenge Cup will take place on Monday and Tuesday, February 16-17, 2015.

"It was a nice surprise today to hear from Kim Brown and Robert Hart from New Smyrna. After consulting all 28 teams, we have been able to put together a field of twenty-six cars to run an additional 100-lap race on Sunday night of the opening weekend at New Smyrna Speedway. The season-opening event of the NASCAR K & N Series will take place on Sunday as well. There was a lot of enthusiasm and support from all the teams, and most told us they would be there watching the K&N race anyway, so being able to race was a bonus they hadn't expected," said Curley.

The qualifying for ACT teams on Sunday night will be at 6:30 and their 100-lap feature event will take place immediately after the K & N feature. The race will not be counted toward the American Racer Challenge Cup, because there were two teams that have entered who will not be in attendance at New Smyrna on Sunday.

"We didn't think it would be fair to make this third race a part of the Challenge Cup because there were a couple of teams that had already made their flight plans. However, it is a great way to help teams offset some of their expenses for the trip with a third purse on Sunday night. It is also what a trip South in February is all about—good old-fashioned racing for three straight days. All the ACT staff and teams are excited about heading to Florida next month," said Darla Hartt, Vice President of ACT.

The American Racer Challenge Cup is still a two-day event with twin 100-lap races held on Monday and Tuesday, February 16-17 2015. The newly announced event will be held as a stand-alone 100-lap event on Sunday, February 15, 2015.

Waterbury, VT – The Laperle Brothers race team from Montreal, Quebec have entered the ACT American Racer Challenge Cup to be contested at the New Smyrna Speedway (NSS) in New Smyrna Beach, Florida on Monday and Tuesday, February 16-17, 2015. That brings the ACT field for the winter showdown at the World Series of Racing to a total of twenty-eight (28) entrants from throughout New England and Quebec.

"Well I guess you could think of this as somewhat of a 'game-changer'. Eric Laperle has been an accomplished crew chief for his brother Patrick ever since they flipped the coin to see which twin would drive their first race at Airborne Speedway back in 1998. Patrick became the driver and Eric began learning his craft as crew chief. The Laperle team will certainly bring some energy to the event next month," said ACT President Tom Curley.

The Laperle team has won eighteen (18) ACT major events. They sit third in all-time wins. Patrick Laperle is a three-time Série ACT (Quebec) Champion, he also won the ACT US title in 2008. He is a three-time winner of the Milk Bowl at Thunder Road.

Many members of the Laperle team, including brother Eric, will be working at the Daytona International Speedway preparing for Quebec driver Mario Gosselin's Xfinity Series (formerly Nationwide) opening event on Saturday, February 21, 2015.

"Boy, this should be a lot of fun next month. There are going to be some very good race teams with Eddie Mac (MacDonald), Labbe, Hebert, Theetge, Parent, and Joey (Polewarczyk, Jr.), just to name a few. Now you add in Laperle and that should make things pretty wild," said newly appointed ACT Race Director Cris Michaud.

Robert Hart, long-time promoter and owner of New Smyrna Speedway said, "It was a goal of ours to get the American Canadian Tour to return to our track after the great show they put on a few years ago. I know many of our fans from both the North and South enjoyed the competition the ACT teams are known for. We are very much looking forward to hosting them again this year. We sure hope we can provide some warm weather for our Northern friends next month."

The American Racer Challenge Cup is a two-day event with twin 100-lap races held on Monday and Tuesday, February, 16-17 2015. Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. is the defending Champion. A full entry list of the ACT teams will be announced in a week.

NAPLES, ME (January 12) – After two seasons of competing in a partial Pro All Stars Series (PASS) Super Late Model schedule, Newmarket, NH driver Bryan Kruczek is ready to make the next step in his racing career.  Kruczek will compete full-time in 2015 and hopes to contend for the new PASS Northeast Super Late Model Challenge.  Unlike the overall PASS North Super Late Model series, the PASS Northeast Super Late Model Challenge will allow drivers to compete for a separate title in the United States events only.  For Kruczek, 2015 presented the perfect opportunity to race for his first PASS title.

"I feel like we are making a huge step in our program this year and look forward to stepping out of the shadows in 2015," said Kruczek of his new opportunity.

Despite only making a limited number of starts over the last two seasons, Kruczek still managed to finish 11th in PASS North points in both 2013 and 2014.  In 16 starts over the last two years, Kruczek has one top five finish and three top 10's during that span of time.

In 2015, Kruczek will once again be joined by crew chief Miles Chapman and will pilot a brand new machine out of the Dale Shaw Race Cars stable.  New to the team this year will be major sponsorship from Ouellette Associates Inc. headquartered in Brunswick, ME.

While the focus for Kruczek will be on the PASS Northeast Super Late Model Challenge, the team is currently planning to compete in the PASS North event at Canada's Autodrome Chaudiere on Saturday, May 16.  Depending on the results there, Kruczek could still possibly make a run at the overall PASS North Super Late Model title in 2015.

The 2015 PASS season will get under way on Saturday, March 7 when the PASS South Super Late Models and PASS Pro Late Models take to Dillon Motor Speedway for the 10th Annual South Carolina Clash.  The PASS North Super Late Model season is slated to start on Saturday, April 18 with the Ripley & Fletcher Ford 150 at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Waterbury, VT – American Canadian Tour staff, officials and teams honored their 2014 ACT Champion Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. from Hudson, NH with the Banquet of Champions at the Doubletree Inn in South Burlington, VT on Saturday, January 10, 2015. The 25-year-old Polewarczyk captured his first career ACT title in his 9th season with the series and pocketed the $10,000 point fund check. He was also honored with the prestigious Don MacTavish Award for his dedication and contribution to stock car racing in the Northeast. Competitors and teams who finished in the top 15 in the 2014 final standings were all recognized, along with several special awards.

Polewarczyk and his father and car owner Joe Polewarczyk, Sr. began competing on the American Canadian Tour in 2006. Considered the youngster of the series, Polewarczyk and his father quickly progressed over the years into big race winners, consistent favorites, and finally veteran Champions. In 2014, they put together arguably the best Championship Season in ACT Late Model history. 

The 2014 ACT Champion was also honored with the Don MacTavish Award, which recognizes individuals for their contributions to stock car racing in the Northeast. Polewarczyk is not only a Champion and respectful driver on the track, but his positive attitude and leadership is felt throughout the pit area at any track he visits. 

Other special awards of the night included the 2014 ACT Crew Chief of the Year Award, which recognizes the hardworking people behind the scenes of ACT teams. Keith Clark, crew chief of the Jimmy Hebert team, received the 2014 honors. Clark has helped develop Hebert and his team from Rookie of the Year in 2012 into race winning and championship contending caliber. Clark led the Hebert team to second place in the 2014 ACT standings.

Brandon Atkins of Au Sable Forks, NY was honored as the 2014 ACT Rookie of the Year and the Dr. Gordon Nielsen Award winner. Atkins battled amongst one of the biggest rookie classes in recent memory on the ACT Tour and claimed the top honors. The 18-year-old earned the respect of his peers, while gaining invaluable experience on the Tour in 2014. He also received the Nielsen Award as the top rookie across all ACT and Thunder Road divisions.

The teams of the American Canadian Tour can now look ahead to the 2015 season, which will kick off early this year with the special American Racer Challenge at New Smyrna Speedway in New Smyrna, FL on Monday and Tuesday, February 16 and 17, 2015. The regular 2015 season will open with the NH Governor's Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway at Lee, NH on Sunday, April 12, 2015. The 2015 ACT season consists of 13 events at 11 tracks across the Northeast and Quebec.

Airborne Park Speedway Unveils Exciting 2015 Schedule

NASCAR, ACT, PASS, MRS organizations highlight 62nd season

PLATTSBURGH, NY – Historic Airborne Park Speedway has released a lineup of 17 action-packed events for its 62nd season of stock car racing season in 2015.  The racy 4/10-mile D-shaped asphalt oval will again host Saturday night NASCAR Whelen All-American Series action, along with special events from some of the most recognizable short track racing organizations in North America.

An innovative approach was taken when building the 2015 schedule, and aims to give fans, families, and racing teams the ability to ease into the spring and summer on a bi-weekly basis before weekly Saturday night racing begins in June.  The calendar was developed while working with other tracks and series in the region including partner track Devil's Bowl Speedway in West Haven, Vermont.

The curtain opens on the four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series championship divisions on Saturday night, May 2 with a 100-lap feature race for the headline J&S Steel Modified class, with Late Models, Renegades, and Mini Modifieds also on the card.

The tradition-filled "Spring Green" event returns to Airborne on Saturday, May 16, as the American-Canadian Tour Late Models make their first of three appearances.  The 115-lap event kicks off a special Triple Crown championship at Airborne for the Quebec-based Série ACT and is expected to see an influx of racers and fans from both sides of the border.

The ground-pounders of the Valenti Modified Racing Series return for a 100-lap throwdown on Saturday, May 30 as the open-wheel aces return to Plattsburgh.  The event also showcases the Renegade and Mini Modified divisions as well as double features for Airborne's own J&S Steel Modifieds.

The weekly Saturday night schedule opens on June 13 with a 100-lap race for the fan favorite Renegades. The annual Egglefield Ford/Unique Cigs "Battle of Plattsburgh" 76-lap Independence Day Modified race and massive fireworks show will be held on Saturday, July 4.

The biggest event of the year will be the third annual "International" weekend event, as it returns with a whole new look on Saturday, July 18 and Sunday, July 19.  The American-Canadian Tour returns for a 200-lap race – the second leg of the Quebec Triple Crown – while the Pro All Stars Series Super Late Models make their Airborne debut with their own 200-lapper.

Saturday night dates through the balance of the summer include double feature events for the Modified and Late Model divisions, a second 100-lap Renegade feature, and special three-segment race for the Mini Modifieds.  The championship season concludes with a two-day event on Labor Day weekend; practice sessions and "Shootout" races for non-winners will be followed by a pit party for fans and racers on Friday, September 4, with championship finales – headlined by a 100-lap Modified special – to be held on Saturday, September 5.

The American-Canadian Tour will crown the champions of its U.S. Tour, the Série ACT, and the Quebec Triple Crown at the annual "Fall Foliage 200" on Saturday, October 3 to wrap up the Airborne season.

Une course automobile extrême qui rapporte!

 

Vingt-deux pilotes ont conduit en état de cécité,  en octobre dernier, dans le cadre de la 3e édition de la Course X-trême non-voyants Pièces d'autos L.F. 2014 qui a eu lieu complexe motorisé de Sanair à St-Pie-de-Bagot.   Cette course organisée par des bénévoles des Laurentides a permis d'amasser près de 22 000 $ pour la cause des aveugles.  C'est avec plaisir que le 6 janvier, les organisateurs ont remis le chèque aux organismes bénéficiaires, commençant à merveille la nouvelle année.


Des conséquences heureuses

 

Quatre-vingt pourcent des profits ont été remis à la Fondation des Aveugles du Québec qui permet aux aveugles et malvoyants de participer à des activités récréatives est sportives tout au long de l'année malgré leur handicap, leur permettant ainsi de briser l'isolement dont ils sont souvent victimes.  L'équipe de Hockey Sonore les Hiboux de Montréal et l'Association régionale de loisirs personnes handicapées des Laurentides ont eux aussi bénéficié de cet événement de financement orginal.

 

« …la cause, le don…..» a déclaré Yves Ladouceur, instigateur de cette course bénéfice qui a tenu à remercier tous les bénévoles, co-organisateurs et commanditaires impliqués dans la réalisation de cette 3e édition de la Course X-trême non-voyants.

Le plein d'émotions

En plus de récolter des fonds pour la cause, la Course X-trême non-voyant Pièce d'auto L.F 2014  représentait pour plusieurs personnes ayant une déficience visuelle de leur unique chance de conduire une voiture.  Guidés par des co-pilotes qui leur donnaient les instructions, plusieurs d'entre-eux sont parvenus à effectuer 12 tours de pistes.  Parmi les copilotes, il y avait entre autres, le maire de Saint-Pie, Mario St-Pierre, l'humoriste et animateur Étienne Dano, l'animateur Frédéric Charpentier et l'humoriste Pascal Babin, ainsi que des pilotes expérimentés en stock-car de la région métropolitaine et autres volontaires.

 

Pilotes et copilotes ont tous vécu beaucoup d'émotions et ont adoré leur expérience.    La pilote Doris Pineault affirmait d'ailleurs à sa sortie : « C'était excitant, extraordinaire, stressant, trippant… »   « J'ai ri autant que j'ai eu peur! » a résumé le co-pilote connu Étienne Dano dont l'auto a cessé de fonctionner après quelques accrochages.

Remise de trophées

 

C'est Allan Walker et Steve Lagacé, supportés en 2014 par la boutique Amandine de Laval, qui ont remporté la course. Pour Walker et Lagacé, c'était une deuxième année consécutive dans le cercle des vainqueurs.  Ils ont d'ailleurs reçu leurs trophées lors de la remise des profits.

WEST HAVEN, VT – Devil's Bowl Speedway has released an exciting new 19-event stock car racing schedule for its 49thseason in 2015, providing something for fans of all types of action.  From May to early October, 14 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series events will be contested on the half-mile asphalt oval with an expanded five-event slate on the new one-third-mile clay surface on The Dirt Track at Devil's Bowl.

The racing calendar was built with the changing schedules and budgets of race fans, families, and teams in mind, and works hand-in-hand with sister track Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY as well as other area raceways.  Devil's Bowl and Airborne will run on alternating Saturday nights in the spring before regular Friday night racing begins after many of the area's high schools conduct graduation ceremonies.

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season opens with a bang on Saturday night, May 9 as the headline Bond Auto Parts Modified division runs a 100-lap race with the Late Model, Renegade, and Mini Stock classes also in action.  The Renegades take their turn at center stage on Saturday, May 23, running their first-ever 100-lap race at Devil's Bowl.

June comes in like a lion with a big weekend on June 6-7.  The American-Canadian Tour Late Models return for their first-ever under-the-lights race at Devil's Bowl on Saturday night, June 6, with the People's United Bank 100.  On Sunday, June 7, The Dirt Track at Devil's Bowl opens for an afternoon special with Sportsman Modifieds, Renegades, and Mini Stocks slinging mud and flying sideways through the turns.

Weekly Friday night asphalt racing fires up on June 19 with twin Modified features and a special appearance by the New England Antique Racers.  Independence Day weekend is jam-packed with the annual Coca-Cola Firecracker special on the asphalt onFriday, July 3 and the Sprint Cars of New England tour invading The Dirt Track on Sunday, July 5. Both events will feature extra-distance racing and holiday fireworks.

The double-points Rutland Herald Mid-Season Championships will be held on the asphalt on Friday, July 10 before the track goes dark for the annual mid-summer break.  Weekly Friday night racing returns on July 24 as the open-wheel Valenti Modified Racing Series makes its first Devil's Bowl appearance with "drivers who live by the grace of God and 600 horsepower."  Late-summer highlights also include C.J. Richards Memorial Weekend events on Friday, August 7 (asphalt) and Sunday, August 9 (dirt), and the annual Sugar & Spice Restaurant "Double Stack" Night on the asphalt on Friday, August 28.

As fall approaches, the annual Vermont 200 Weekend crowns champions in all four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series asphalt divisions, with qualifying and the region's biggest racing party on Saturday, September 12.  Main events include a 100-lap Late Model race and twin 50-lap Modified features along with Renegade and Mini Stock championship finales on Sunday, September 13.  The Dirt Track wraps up the season with back-to-back events on Sunday, September 27 and Sunday, October 4, with the exciting details for both events to be released at a later date.

The auto racing season warms up this weekend with the 27th annual Northeast Motorsports Expo at the Augusta Civic Center and the highlight will be the third Heluva Pit Crew Challenge.

The Benjamin Motorsports crew for Pro All-Stars Series Super Late Model North driver Travis Benjamin from Morrill has won the first two challenges.

"We hit on something with the Pit Crew Challenge. It has grown. I think we'll have 40 teams attempting to qualify," said Steve Perry, who owns and runs the Northeast Motorsports Expo.

There were 30 crews last year.

Each team consists of a jack person, two tire carriers and two tire changers and the teams will begin trying to qualify based on time on at 5:30 p.m. Friday night and at noon and 5:30 p.m. Saturday.

The field will be whittled down to 16 finalists and the final competition will begin at noon Sunday.

The winning crew will earn $750 and a 55-gallon drum of Sunoco Racing Fuel and the second- place team will earn $300. All 16 finalists will receive a variety of prizes, according to Perry, who also hosts the Mainely Motorsports television show.

There will also be three other fun-oriented pit crew challenges on Saturday: one for track and tour officials at noon, another which will include a team comprised of one media member, two women, a driver and a crew member at 5 p.m. and an all-female competition at 7:30 p.m.

There will be over 50 exhibits and vendors and there will be seminars, featuring Shawn Waddell from Waddell Communications and marketing expert Debby Pastrana, mother of Travis Pastrana, who is a 10-time X Games gold medalist, four-time Rally America driver champion and former Xfinity (Nationwide) Series driver.

The Maine Vintage Race Car Association will hold its second annual auction throughout the weekend and a raffle will be held to win a race-ready Super Late Model race car, which has raced only a few times. A Pass Modified car was raffled off last year.

The drawing for the Super Late Model car will he held at the Racin' Preview Show at the Portland Exposition building on Feb. 21.

New Super Late Model cars cost in the vicinity of $50,000, according to Perry.

Show hours will be from 4:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m.-9 p.m. on Saturday and 10-3 on Sunday.

It will cost $9 for adults, $7.50 for seniors, $5 for children from 6-12 and it will be free for children 5 and under. Three-day passes for adults will be available for $20.

Perry said the biggest news in the auto racing industry in the northeast for the upcoming season is the cooperative arrangement between the American Canadian Tour for Late Models and the PASS Super Late Models to hold three doubleheader weekends.

That marks a warming in the relationship between ACT President Tom Curley and PASS founder and president Tom Mayberry.

"This will benefit both of them and the real winner is the fans," Perry said.

The first PASS/ACT combination event will be held at Oxford Plains Speedway on Saturday, April 18. The ACT International for both tours will be held on July 18-19 at Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh, New York, and the final combo will be held at Autodrome Chaudiere in Vallee Jonction, Quebec, on Sept. 12.

PASS adds another championship

The PASS SLM North drivers will have the option to run for one of two championships this coming season: the PASS North overall title in which they will race all 16 races, including the four Canadian races, or the PASS Northeast championship, which will include the 12 races in the U.S. and exclude the four Canadian races.

"Allowing our racers the option to compete for the overall PASS North championship or the new PASS Northeast Super Late Model championship is a big step forward for the series," Mayberry said in a news release. "This will allow racers who don't have the funds or time to compete in the Canadian events a chance to still race for a championship. Likewise, the 2015 PASS North titlist will truly be able to call himself short track racing's international champion."

En route pour une 4e saison pour le #4 Stéphane Fournier

Pour l'équipe #4 Fournier Côté Racing Team, la saison 2014 a été une de ces meilleures au point de vue des résultats. Tout au long de la saison on a pu constater l'assurance prise en piste par Stéphane Fournier et l'expérience acquise par l'équipe de mécaniciens pour mettre en piste une voiture compétitive. De façon paradoxale, la 3e saison de l'équipe en Sportsman Québec en aura été aussi une de remise en question.

Certes, l'équipe est très fière de ces résultats et plus particulièrement de son podium lors de la 2e course au GP3R. Un podium remporté sur une piste que Stéphane Fournier affectionne particulièrement et qui de plus, s'est fait devant quelques commanditaires précieux de l'équipe. Un moment magique et euphorique que l'équipe a eu le bonheur de partager avec le Team 33!

Malgré ces belles réussites, l'équipe a terminé l'année avec le sentiment du devoir non accompli. Les buts fixés en ce qui concerne les résultats étaient pleinement atteints avec sa 8e position au championnat général mais l'équipe avait perdu de vu son objectif premier; vivre sa passion dans le plaisir avant tout.

Un travail d'équipe

Dany Côté et Stéphane Fournier forme un duo depuis plusieurs années alors qu'ils débutaient en Sport Compact Élite. Lorsque la décision est venue de vendre les 3 voitures qui leur appartenaient pour faire leur début en Sportsman Québec en 2012, pour eux le choix était clair; il mettait à profit les forces de chacun et c'est ainsi que Dany Côté a laissé la conduite de côté pour devenir chef d'équipe, signaleur et responsable des commanditaires. Quant à Stéphane Fournier, passionné par la conduite, il est devenu le seul pilote de l'équipe. Pour 2015, quelques changements sont à prévoir entre autre suite au départ de Daniel Gagné. De nouveaux mécaniciens se joindront à l'équipe entre autre Raynald Simard qui cumule plusieurs années d'expérience en Stock Car.

Objectifs 2015

Pour Fournier Côté,  la représentation de leurs commanditaires tant sur la piste qu'à l'extérieur est une priorité. Pouvant compter sur plusieurs commanditaires fidèles depuis leur début,  Stéphane Fournier et Dany Côté comptent bien leur faire honneur. Pour la saison 2015, Stéphane Fournier veut continuer à progresser de course en course et qui sait, permettre à son équipe de monter à nouveau sur les marches du podium!

Waterbury, VT – The first trip to New Smyrna Speedway (NSS) in 2011 ended up with 28 very diverse teams. Half the teams were "regular ACT touring teams", the rest were from various elements of the overall ACT Late Model racing program that covers a wide area of the Northeastern US, and Provinces of Quebec and Ontario.

The 2015 visit to the Daytona Beach area will have a much more experienced and different look when the 2015 American Canadian Tour (ACT) teams visit the New Smyrna Speedway to compete in a two-day double-header event--the American Racer Challenge Cup this February.

"We had some terrific reviews following our first-ever effort at the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing at NSS a few years ago. We have been fortunate to have sustainable growth within the middle of our ACT system over the past few years. We are all very excited about having so many of our talented new young teams heading to Florida on February 16-17," said Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour.

Two eighteen year-old racers, 2014 Rookie of the Year Brandon Atkins of Au Sable Forks, NY, and Emily Packard from East Montpelier, VT proved to any doubters that there is a competitive youth movement which competes at a very high level, and they are ready to challenge the veterans of ACT. Kyle Welch, Newport, NH shocked the veterans with an outstanding 2014 season. Welch was not only competitive, but grabbed a win at Groveton, New Hampshire last July. Two Maine teams will also make the long trip to Florida, Rowland Robinson, Jr., Steuben, and Travis Stearns, Auburn will join a very strong mixed group of veterans and first timers at New Smyrna in February.

The 2014 ACT Champion and defending winner of the first Challenge Cup event at New Smyrna, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. (Pole) said, "I think it is just great that we have so many "regulars" going to NSS. This is a perfect way to shake out the lay-off and get ready for the upcoming season, let alone being in the Daytona area during February speed-weeks. This format of two actual races to win, and then a combined point system for the title with most of the money for the win is really intense and fun. The goal for us is to try and win it all, but ACT is bringing a very strong group of teams, so it will be tough. I can't wait", concluded Pole.

The full field of over 26 entrants will be announced shortly for the American Racer Challenge Cup at New Smyrna Speedway onMonday, Feb. 16, and Tues. Feb. 17, 2015.
