New Tread Pattern, Compound Names, and Siping Rules Await DIRTcar UMP Competitors in 2017

CONCORD, N.C. – Dec. 7, 2016 – DIRTcar Racing, in conjunction with Hoosier Racing Tire, today announced that DIRTcar UMP Modified division drivers will have an improved tread pattern, renamed compounds, and less siping to do in the 2017 season.

After three years of field testing, DIRTcar and Hoosier officials are pleased to release redesigned versions of the current A40S and H40 compounded tires. The new M-30S and M-60 tire will become the only available tires for the DIRTcar UMP Modified division beginning at or near March 1, 2017. The new tires will feature the same construction and compounds as the existing tires, but will utilize an updated Chain Link tread pattern and more logical compound names. No grooving will be allowed on any tire, and siping of the new tires will only be legal with the M-60 tire.

"Throughout our testing, it has been everyone's goal to provide our customers with fewer choices, less work, and a better overall product," said Hoosier Racing Tire Product Manager Shanon Rush. "The new tread design, a more streamlined, logical naming system, and no siping of the softer tire should address many of the concerns the teams had voiced."

As an additional benefit, because the construction and compounds of the tires will not change, DIRTcar UMP can now allow all existing A-40S and H-40 tires to be run out throughout the entire 2017 campaign.

"Hoosier provided us with several options, but in the end, we definitely wanted tires best suited for all of our sanctioned tracks, and to protect all of our customers who have existing inventory," explained DIRTcar UMP Series Director Sam Driggers. "We believe these changes accomplish those goals."

All 2017 DIRTcar UMP Winternationals events will be run under the existing A-40S and H-40 tire rules from 2016. The new M-30S and M-60 tires will be released at or near March 1, once all existing inventory is depleted.

Samples of the New M-30S and M-60 tires will be on display at the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show on December 8-10 in both the DIRTcar UMP and Hoosier Racing Tire booths.

NASCAR Whelen All American Series

Devil's Bowl Speedway Announces Weekly Division Realignment for 2017

Late Models to run special events; Renegades renamed "Super Stocks"

For Immediate Release                                                                                                                                                                                 DBS-120216-1

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil's Bowl Speedway has made some adjustments to its weekly stock car racing divisions for the 2017 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season.  The changes are the latest step in an unending process of improving the quality and entertainment value of events at both the half-mile Asphalt Track and the 3/10-mile Dirt Track at the Vermont facility, with several additional enhancements to be announced soon.

While the open-wheel Sportsman Modifieds will retain their stature as the headline "Division I" class for both surfaces at Devil's Bowl, the spotlight will shine a little brighter on the support divisions.

The Late Model division has been transitioned away from weekly competition at the Asphalt Track and into a special event series.  The move is designed to reduce overall expenses for competitors while ensuring that the fan-favorite class remains an integral part of Devil's Bowl Speedway in 2017.  Current local competitors strongly supported the concept in recent meetings, and several new teams have expressed interest in the series.

The Late Models will have four Saturday night 50-lap races – each paying $800 to win – on June 3, June 24July 22, and August 12.  The class will also be part of the annual "Double Stack Night" on August 26 with twin 25-lap features.  Two previously-announced American-Canadian Tour events on Sunday, May 7, and Sunday, September 10, will round out the seven-race Late Model calendar at Devil's Bowl.

The intermediate Renegade class has been rebranded as the "Super Stock" division for both the Asphalt Track and the Dirt Track.  The Super Stocks have an old-school feel with rumbling V8 engines and a blend of old and new body styles.  Drivers mix it up with fender-banging action, and the same cars race competitively on both the asphalt and dirt surfaces with minimal changes.

The Super Stocks will be elevated locally within the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series to "Division II" designation.  As a result, an extra $1,000 will be added to the post-season Top 10 Super Stock point funds for each track for the 2017 season, and the champions will each win a minimum of $1,000.

In turn, the entry-level Mini Stock division – which features production vehicles with stock four-cylinder engines and only slight, affordable modifications for racing – has been bumped up to "Division III" status.  Each track's Mini Stock champion will win $500 in 2017.

Full season schedules are still under construction and are expected to be released before January 1, with several new features added to both tracks.  Information for the annual Banquet of Champions will also be made available soon.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is located on Route 22A in West Haven, Vt., four miles north of Exit 2 on U.S. Route 4.  For more information, visitwww.DevilsBowlSpeedwayVT.com or call (802) 265-3112.  Devil's Bowl Speedway is on Facebook at facebook.com/DevilsBowlSpeedway and on Twitter and Instagram at @DevilsBowlSpeed; follow the action using the #DevilsBowl hashtag.

Davis Named Managing Director and Chief Security Officer

Veteran FBI Executive Brings Wealth of Experience to Role

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (November 30, 2016) – NASCAR and International Speedway Corporation have named veteran FBI executive and risk management expert Christopher Davis as Managing Director and Chief Security Officer.

Davis will lead strategy development and execution for corporate, facility and event security, working closely with international and federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies on behalf of fans, venues, teams, and infrastructure. Davis will assume leadership of the NASCAR and ISC senior management-directed implementation of their enterprise-wide security strategies. Through his role at NASCAR, Davis also will work closely with other venues that host NASCAR-sanctioned races.

Davis brings a distinguished public and private sector leadership background to the new position, including service as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge and Inspector for the FBI. In addition to his lengthy FBI tenure, Davis held senior executive positions with private firms Contemporary Services Corporation and Sequrus, LLC.

"With his broad experience and proven success as a leader at every level, Chris is exactly the right fit to oversee the very complex security and risk management operations for our sport," said Mike Helton, Vice Chairman, NASCAR. "His involvement with the Olympics, multiple professional and college sports championships and other mass gathering events makes him the ideal choice to evolve and implement full-spectrum security strategies for our events, facilities and business."

"We're pleased that we were able to work with NASCAR to hire a professional of Chris' caliber," said John Saunders, President, ISC. "He will manage our entire portfolio of facilities and events, which are led by NASCAR races but also increasingly include other entertainment events. This hire is reflective of ISC's desire to always put the fans first as we grow and expand our business."

A native of New Jersey, Davis earned his undergraduate degree from San Diego State University and a Master's degree in Criminal Justice from Boston University. Prior to joining the FBI, Davis played briefly in the National Football League (NFL).

Davis oversaw security and emergency preparedness operations for numerous high profile events and venues during his FBI career. Among the highlights are:

·         Supervisory Special Agent, Los Angeles Joint Terrorism Task Force, where he managed interagency coordination;

·         Sector Commander, Salt Lake City Winter Olympics, where Davis was hand-selected to lead and manage assets charged with ensuring venue and operational security for the 2002 Winter Olympic games;

·         Assistant Legal Attaché, United States Embassy, Ottawa, Canada, where he oversaw security and contingency planning for the G-8 Summit as well as Presidential and Secretary of State delegation visits

·         Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Executive Manager, Orlando and Tampa, Florida, where Davis was principally charged with directing the FBI's security effort for Super Bowl XLIII, the 2008 World Series and NBA Finals, the 2012 NBA All-Star Game and Weekend, and the 2012 Republican National Convention.

After completing his FBI career, Davis served as Senior Vice President for Contemporary Services Corporation and Vice President for Sequrus, overseeing those firms' security consulting and business development efforts.

Comcast’s XFINITY Brand “Makes Its Name” As The 2016 NASCAR Marketing Achievement Award Recipient

Comcast's XFINITY Brand "Makes Its Name" As The 2016 NASCAR

Marketing Achievement Award Recipient

XFINITY X1 Technology Brings Fans Closer to NASCAR than Ever Before

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 1, 2016) – Comcast will be honored with the 2016 NASCAR Marketing Achievement Award for its support of the NASCAR XFINITY Series, known as the series "Where Names Are Made." The company, which also serves as the Official Entertainment Provider of NASCAR®, will be recognized at the NASCAR NMPA Myers Brothers Awards today.

Entering the sport with a historic 10-year entitlement agreement last year, XFINITY is changing the way fans experience NASCAR by introducing live race stats and data directly to the TV through their XFINITY X1 platform. XFINITY X1 provides an insider's look at the action taking place across NASCAR's three national series each race weekend, along with custom video content, weekly exclusive VOD content, live leaderboards, up-to-the-second race stats, interactive championship point standings, and much more.

At the track, Comcast engaged fans, the industry and media at its state-of-the-art activation space, the XFINITY Zone. The award-winning fan zone allowed thousands of fans to interact with drivers and utilize the technology that is changing the live sports TV experience. Off the track, Comcast is working to recognize charitable efforts of NASCAR team members through the Comcast Community Champion of the Year Award, which was created in 2015.

"The innovation that Comcast delivers through its XFINITY brand drives deeper engagement and is transforming the way fans consume our sport," said Brent Dewar, NASCAR Chief Operating Officer. "Our partnership with Comcast is one of the most unique and powerful in all of sports, and our work together this year has helped elevate the NASCAR XFNITY Series to new heights."

In year two of the partnership, NASCAR and XFINITY collaborated on changes that differentiated the series and further integrated the XFINITY brand into the sport. The introduction of an elimination-style Chase and a new Dash 4 Cash format enhanced competition, spiked fan interest, and generated even more drama around the series. The competition changes were accompanied by a new visual identity, providing the NASCAR XFINITY Series with its own distinct look across digital, social, at-track and on broadcast.

"We are honored and excited to accept this year's NASCAR Marketing Achievement Award, as it is a direct reflection of the successful and progressive partnership we've had with NASCAR since entering the sport in 2015," said Matt Lederer, Executive Director of Sports Marketing at Comcast. "All of us at Comcast are committed to continuing to find new and innovative ways to bring fans closer to the sport they love through XFINITY products and services."

Comcast's integrated marketing strategy was expansive:

  • NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers captured more than 70 unique, first-person social videos that were shared as part of Comcast's "My Chase" program

·         Produced original television creative promoting the series throughout the season

  • Created the XFINITY Zone, an 85-foot-by-85-foot display area that showed off X1 technology, and hosted fans across 14 NASCAR events

·         Hosted the first-ever "off-campus" NASCAR Fuel For Business Council meeting in Philadelphia, welcoming nearly 50 Official Partners to facilitate business to business opportunities

·         Comcast and Pocono Raceway hosted NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers around the Road 2 Pocono, which included a City Hall proclamation and a parade lap down the streets of Philadelphia

Other previous winners of the NASCAR Marketing Achievement Award include Sunoco; Coca-Cola; Mars, Incorporated; Nationwide Insurance; Sprint; and Toyota.

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion's Week will culminate with the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards. NBCSN presents complete coverage of the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Awards on Friday, Dec. 2 beginning at 7 p.m. ET with "NASCAR America," followed by the red carpet at 8 p.m. ET and the awards broadcast at 9 p.m. ET. Motor Racing Network and SiriusXM NASCAR Radio will also begin coverage at 8 p.m. ET.
