Brandt Graham Sweeps the Sportsman Cup Series Double-Dip at Flamboro Speedway

As home to 4 events on this year's schedule, teams with the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series will have a wide variety of options available to them where race day set-ups are concerned. After recording a second-place finish during the first tour stop – Saturday, May 13^th and taking a pair of 50 lap features a month and a half later, no one could blame Brandt Graham for looking forward to his return to venerable Hamilton, Ontario raceway for a Saturday, August 19^th event.

"Any time you see a lot of a particular track and have some success there, you enjoy going back there," Brandt Graham said. "Our team makes some amazing notes everywhere we go, so I'm always confident that our equipment will be the best it can be whenever the green flag waves."

The 19 year-old from Orono, Ontario is the reigning series champion and current point leader. Fresh from the most recent win on his resume, where he led all 100 laps at Peterborough Speedway, the second-generation speedster – who recently graduated from Durham College – time-trailed in the runner-up position during qualifying.

At the drop of the green flag, Graham started 3^rd as result of the Fast 5 post qualifying re-draw. Originally scheduled to be run as a 100 lapper, the race distance was switched to a pair of 50 lap segments. Tour and track officials then made the decision to change things to a couple of 30 lap features after another competitor had an engine expire and clean-up was deemed to take too much time. The first session saw its checkered flag with the #14 car at the head of the field. For the second stanza, the top 5 opening round finishers were inverted for the next green flag of the night.

Coming from 5^th place to start round 2, Brandt Graham began planning his strategy to get to the front of the field. Knowing there wasn't much time to work with, he took at patiently aggressive approach in search of the win. Knowing that the team had given him a good piece, the driver quickly found his rhythm and swept both event segments for the second time this season.

"It was almost like a regular Saturday night main event," Brandt Graham said. "The weekly division features at most tracks are 20 or 25 laps, so these ones were just a bit longer. Even as early as the practice sessions, the car felt great all night and it was good to be able to come away with another win."

The 2017 Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series finale is scheduled for Saturday, September 16^th at Flamboro Speedway.

ASE 19 aout, Victoire de Jo Bouvrette, 2 podiums pour Côté.

Dame nature aura choyé les nombreux amateurs à avoir rempli les gradins de l'Autodrome St-Eustache samedi dernier lors de la présentation d'un 100 tours de la série ACT, jumelée à la huitième manche de nos séries locales.

Série ACT:

Éclatante victoire de l'enfant chéri de l'ASE, Jonathan Bouvrette #41, ce dernier aura dominé lors de la présentation de la cinquième manche de la série ACT Québec. Une épreuve de 100 passages où le pilote de Blainville se sera imposé après une relance avec à peine une vingtaine de tours complétés. Patrick Laperle #91, aura bien tenté de déstabiliser Bouvrette lors des quelques relances suivantes en lui "soulevant la jupe" délicatement dans les virages 1 et 2, mais rien à faire, après quelques tours, le pilote de la #41 se forgeait à chaque occasion une confortable avance. Laperle se contentera d'une deuxième position au final. Steve Côté #1, annonçait possiblement ses intentions pour la saison 2018 en participant à la fête lui aussi. Prenant le départ de la 11em place d'une intéressante grille de 19 voitures, le meneur de tout ce qui est championnat Sportsman / LMS Nascar au Québec aura arrêté sa progression à la troisième marche du podium, et ce, même si la deuxième place aurait été à sa porté... On ne voulait probablement pas foutre le bordel dans un championnat aussi âprement disputé. Patrick Cliche #5, ainsi que "L'homme de Fer" Claude Leclerc #11 complète quant à eux le "Top-5". Les trois vagues de qualifications furent remportées respectivement par, Leclerc #11, Dany Trépanier #19, ainsi que Bouvrette #41.

NB: Les résultats de l'épreuve ACT sont à titre provisoire, des pièces de suspension ont été saisies sur les voitures afin d'en valider la conformité. Les résultats définitifs seront confirmés, ou rectifiés plus tard cette semaine par les officiels de la série.

Série Nascar Sportsman Lucas Oil:

Septièmes victoires en huit départs pour Steve Côtè #1... Mais ô combien mérité. Alors que l'ont fait la présentation des pilotes devant les gradins, Côté et ses coéquipiers soupçonnent une possible crevaison lente sur l'un des pneumatiques de la voiture. Les soupçons se confirmeront dès les premiers tours de l'épreuve, si bien qu'au profit d'un ralentissement au 3em passages, le pilote de la Toyota #1 doit retraiter aux puits pour remédier à la situation. À la relance, Côté se retrouve à la queue des 20 voitures qui s'affrontaient lors de cette finale de 75 passages. Qu'à cela ne tienne, le pilote de l'Ile-Bizard mettra moins d'une vingtaine de tours avant de se hisser dans le "Top-5", puis une quinzaine d'autre à négocier avec le coriace Sylvain Lacombe #3Jr pour la deuxième place, et finalement, au profit d'une relance, ravir la position de tête au #18 de Jo Mayer. Malgré trois autres relances, jumelées à la pression du 3Jr pour tenter de le pousser à l'erreur, rien n'empêchera Côté de récolter un septième gain cette saison. Sylvain Lacombe #3Jr termine deuxième, alors que Maxime Gauvreau #7, monte sur la dernière marche d'un podium pour la première fois en 2017. Jean-François Bouvrette #38, ainsi qu'Alexandre Jeannotte #23, complète quant à eux... Encore le "Top-5". Plus tôt en journée, Côté #1, Gauvreau #7 ainsi que Bouvrette #38, l'avaient emporté lors des qualifications.

Série Nascar Légende Modifiée / Thérien Performance:

Après un intermède d'un programme, Stéphane Caron #99, était de retour sur la plus haute marche du podium. Le champion en titre n'aura eu besoin que de deux tours avant de confortablement s'installer devant les 24 compétiteurs ayant pris le départ de cette finale de 40 passages. Sébastien Lapolice #11, ainsi que François Verville #56, l'ont accompagné sur le podium, alors que les Mick Fong #23, et Yannick Thibeault #73 ont quant à eux complété le "Top-5". À noter une décevante 17em position, suite à des déboires en piste, pour Jessy Lambert #64 qui, avant le début des hostilités, trônait au sommet du classement de la série. Caron #99, Lambert #64, tout comme Joanie Lambert #48 (la soeur de l'autre) et seule dame en séries Nascar de l'ASE, l'avaient emporté plus tôt en journée lors des préliminaires.

Série Nascar Sport-Compacte / MRQ Présenté par ZSB Distribution:

Olivier Labbé-Pelletier #110, un régulier de la série Sport-Compacte Élite du circuit de Vallée-Jonction en Beauce, cause une certaine surprise en dominant, et ce, de façon non équivoque, tant en préliminaires, qu'en course, tout le plateau de la division 3 de nos séries Nascar. Victorieux en qualifications, le pilote de la Honda #110 ne mettra que 4 tours avant de s'emparer des commandes d'une l'épreuve prévu de 30 passages et ainsi venir donner une "leçon de pilotage" à nos pilotes locaux. Après les inspections d'usages, ce fut Yannick Miron #90, ainsi Robin Harrisson #3, qui l'auront finalement accompagné sur le podium. Jessy Lee Desravines #31, tout comme Jean-Philippe Laberge #24, complètent quant à eux le "Top-5". Laberge #24, Labbé-Pelletier #110, ainsi que Desravines #31, l'avaient aussi emporté lors en vagues de préliminaires.

Série Challenge-4 / Perry Performance:

Huitièmes épreuves de la saison pour ces pilotes de la série de développement de l'ASE, et encore une fois, pratiquement un copier-coller des sept précédentes. Keven Huet #05, débute sa journée de travail par une victoire en qualification, et la conclut avec un gain de plus à son palmarès de la saison 2017. Louis-Alexandre Dupuis #100, (vainqueur de l'autre qualification) ainsi que Patrick Mayo #51 l'ont suivi sous le drapeau à damier, alors que les Jason Morand #59, ainsi que Jeffrey Laporte #00, complètent le "Top-5".

Les amateurs de courses sur piste ovale n'auront pas à patienter longtemps, puisque dès le weekend prochain, nos trois séries Nascar, ainsi que la série de développement de l'Autodrome St-Eustache seront de retour pour une autre soirée d'actions et d'émotions sous les réflecteurs. Tremont Keeps LaDuc at Bay for Fifth Devil's Bowl Win

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Kenny Tremont Jr. and Tim LaDuc are making sure that the Devil's Bowl Speedway Dirt Track championship goes down to the wire between them, but Tremont inched ahead on Sunday, August 20. The veteran from West Sand Lake, N.Y., scored his fifth NASCAR Whelen All-American Series win of the year in a tight battle, topping a list of winners that included Bill Duprey, Andrew FitzGerald, and Aaron Mulready.

Tremont's win in the 54-lap Charlie LaDuc Memorial – a race honoring the late father of his rival – was never a sure thing until the checkered flag flew over the Central Vermont Motorcycles Sportsman Modified field. Tremont and Tim LaDuc have been seemingly inseparable of late: They entered the night tied for the championship lead, and started and finished next to each other in both their qualifying heat and the main event.

Tremont lead the feature race for the final 45 laps, but never had more than four car-lengths of breathing room – and usually much less than that – over LaDuc, who made several serious bids to take the lead away.

"I remember Charlie LaDuc racing here at Devil's Bowl when I was a kid, and he was always a good man, so it means a lot to win this race," Tremont said. "I know how bad Tim wanted to win this one, and he raced me clean the whole time. It was a lot of fun."

LaDuc was just as complimentary of Tremont: "My hat's off to Ken – that was a heck of race," he said. "I threw everything I had at him, but he had the right line tonight. If I can't win this one, I'm glad Kenny did because he knew my dad and raced against him."

Behind the lead pair, 16 year-old rookie Tanner Siemons made a big impression by finishing a strong third in only his second Devil's Bowl start. The Orford, N.H., youngster has been learning in the Modified ranks at Legion Speedway in 2017 and made his first trip to Vermont a week ago; he held off Jimmy Ryan at the finish for the spot. Randy Howe recovered from an early spin to take fifth place, followed by Justin Severance, Justin Comes, Billy Lussier, Mike Fisher, and Chris Clark.

Tremont's win breaks the tie with LaDuc in the championship standings, but he has only a miniscule two-point edge with two point-counting races remaining (614-612) – the difference of one position in a feature race.

Bill Duprey of Hydeville, Vt., won a well-driven 20-lap feature race for the Rosen & Berger Auto Recyclers Super Stock division, taking his fourth win of the season and the 48^th of his Devil's Bowl career. Duprey surrendered the lead to five-time winner Chris Murray with seven laps left, but snatched it back two circuits later and held Murray off in heavy lapped traffic for the victory. Garrett Given held off a race-long bid from Randy Alger for third place with Alger fourth and Mike Bradley fifth.

Unofficially, Murray holds a 13-point lead on Josh Bussino (545-532) in the point standings, with Duprey only four more points back at 528.

West Rutland, Vt.'s Andrew FitzGerald scored a long-awaited career-first win in the 15-lap feature for the Portland Glass Mini Stock division. A regular on The Asphalt Track at Devil's Bowl Speedway, FitzGerald has been trying out the dirt in recent weeks to prepare for the 2018 season; he ran to a convincing win, holding off his younger brother Brendan "Roo" Forrest for the victory. Rookie Dakota Desabrais finished third after a wild last-lap scramble, with Johnny Bruno fourth and Chris Charbonneau fifth. With his finish, Charbonneau has mathematically clinched his first championship in the Mini Stock division.

Aaron Mulready of Buskirk, N.Y., made it three wins in his first five starts with the Catamount Mini Sprint club, taking that division's 15-lap feature race. Point leader Austin Chaves came from eighth place at the start to make a late rally but settled for the runner-up position. Colby Beinhaur held off his father, Sean, for third place, and Robert Griffin held off his son, Josh, for fifth.

Devil's Bowl Speedway is back in action on Wednesday, August 23 at 7:30 p.m. with the final Wednesday Night Drag Racing Series program of the season. The 1/2-mile oval Asphalt Track races on Saturday, August 26 at 7:00 p.m. with the annual Sugar & Spice "Double Stack Night" of double features in all divisions, along with the sixth annual "Great North American Pancake Eating Championship" at intermission. The 3/10-mile Dirt Track cranks back up on Sunday, August 27 at 6:00 p.m.

The Rusty Wallace Racing Experience and the Kenny Wallace Dirt Racing Experience will also be on hand during the weekend of August 26-27, offering ride-along and driving experiences on both surfaces at Devil's Bowl. John Baker Jr. Returns to Ontario Modifieds Racing Series Victory Lane

His 2017 season had been plagued by bad luck and mechanical gremlins, but Saturday, August 19^thJohn Baker Jr. made the transition to race winner, when he claimed his first Ontario Modifieds Racing Series victory of the year at Peterborough Speedway.

Starting on the front row, alongside another former champion Rob Warnes, Baker took the lead from the drop of the green flag, but his charge was short-lived when a multi-car incident coming off the 4^thturn produced a red flag. No one was injured in the wreck, but the machines of Duane Cinnamon and Willow Barberstock were sidelined for the rest of the event.

Baker had a strong car, but 2-time feature winner Brad Stevenson – who had started from 6^th spot – was moving through the field. The 25-lap feature had a number of yellow flags that slowed the pace, but there was no keeping the crowd favourite from earning a trip the winner's circle. Stevenson held-on for second spot, with Mark Gordon, Brendan Adams and Stu Robinson Jr. completed the top 5. Josh Gruntz, Rob Warnes, Chris Burrows, Randy Hollingsworth, Craig Stevenson, Cinnamon and Barberstock rounded-up the finishing order.

Ontario Modifieds Racing Series notebook: Brad Stevenson, Stu Robinson Jr., Brendan Adams and Duane Cinnamon won qualifying heats earlier in the event…OMRS – in association with the #77 team of Brad Stevenson – gave away a pair of children's bikes in random chance Fan Appreciation Night draws…The series proudly welcomed a new marketing partner – Gen 3 Electrical Contractors – who attended the Peterborough Speedway show…Brendan Adams was wheeling the #4 machine, in place of Connor James who was running with the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series…Next on the schedule for the popular open-wheeled tour is a Saturday, August 26^th date at Canada's Toughest 3^rd of a Mile Paved Oval.

22 RACING RESULTS RIVERSIDE INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY

Antigonish, NS, August 20, 2017: The 22 Racing Team were back on track this weekend at Riverside International Speedway for the Bumper to Bumper 300 and while the day wasn't perfect both cars finished in the top ten. This was race number 10 in the thirteen race NASCAR Pinty's Series.

Under cloudy skies the team took to the track for an hour and forty minute practice session. When it was complete Donald Theetge in the #22 Circuit Acura/Le Soliet/L'Antidote Media Dodge was scored in 6^th position. The #18 EpiPen/Lowes Canada/St-Huberts Dodge of Alex Tagliani was show tenth quickest. Both teams went to work on the race cars making changes in hopes of making better qualifying runs.

It wasn't long after practice that the anticipated rain showers started and it was determined that qualifying would be cancelled and the cars would start the Bumper to Bumper 300 based on their practice positions. It was then a waiting game for the re-scheduled 7:30 p.m.start time but the rains continued to fall and the race was rescheduled until Sunday at 1 p.m.

During the first half of the event, the #22 of Theetge would run just outside of the top 5 and while running similar speeds to the leaders was not able to challenge. The #18 of Tagliani would find himself in the same situation while running just inside the top 10. During the mid way point competition caution session both teams would make adjustments on their cars trying to make them better for their drivers. Over the next 150 laps Theetge would find himself involved in a minor on track incident and would end up down 2 laps to the leaders while Tagliani continued to work his way up to the top 5. When the checkered flag waved the #18 EpiPen/Lowes Dodge was in sixth and while the #22 of Theetge was able to make back one of his laps he was still scored down one lap in 10^th position.

The Bumper to Bumper 300 will air on TSN on TSN on Sunday Aug. 27^th at 1:30 p.m. and on RDS on Fri. Sept. 15^th at 7:30 p.m.

The next race for 22 Racing will be the Total 200 from Canadian Tire Motorsport Park which will take place on Sept. 2^nd & 3rd in conjunction with the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. For more information on tickets and schedule please visitcanadiantiremotorsportpark.com

Spectacle à couper le souffle, pour la soirée des dames

C'était la Soirée consacrée aux dons pour la "Fondation du cancer du sein", les femmes étaient admises gratuitement et pas mois de plus 1300 dames étaient des nôtres. Pour l'occasion les voitures Modifiés et Sportsman étaient dépourvus de leurs toîts, soirée "top less" oblige, clin d'œil coquin au thème de la soirée.

L'Autodrome Drummond est impliqué dans la collecte de fonds pour la fondation du cancer du sein depuis plus de 6 ans. Pas moins de 30 000 $ fut récolté depuis. Le promoteur Yan Bussière et l'équipe de L'Autodrome Drummond remercie les fans pour votre grande générosité pour une bonne cause.

75 tours Modifés

Une finale qui a tardé à prendre le rythme, avec les nombreux drapeaux jaunes en début de course. Mais par la suite, qu'elle finale incroyable! Les spectateurs en ont eu plein les yeux! Les échanges et luttes, sur la piste, étaient superbes. Mathieu Desjardins commence en force, il est intouchable. Une fois le rythme installé, Steve Bernard suit Desjardins comme son ombre. Par la suite les autres remontent vers la tête du peloton. Et le spectacle sera incroyable, David Hébert et Steve Bernard multiplieront les attaques sur Dejardins, s'échangeant les positions à grands coups de "slide job", spectaculaire! Sébastien Gougeon, parti de l'arrière suite à un passage aux puits, en profite pour ajuster son bolide et ainsi remonter jusqu'à la 3 place. Une finale mémorable.

32 tours Sportsman

Les pilotes Sportsman sont en feu, malgré les bonnes intentions, un carambolage survient au premier tour, ce qui calmera les ardeurs. Martin Pelletier poussait fort et il se fit prendre aux jeux. Par contre Dany Gagné, meneur au championnat donne toute une démonstration de pilotage en fin de course lors d'une relance, il profite de l'occasion pour exécuter un magnifique dépassement. Notons que le 49 de Kaven Poliquin a dominé en première place en début de course. Mais la fin de course, la dernière relance met en vedette Sébastien Bourque, ce dernier

fait ce qu'il faut pour surprendre ses adversaires avec une superbe manœuvre et monte sur la première marche du podium. Mention honorable à Manuel Piette qui termine 6e, toujours en lutte dans le peloton de tête.

20 tous Ligntning Sprint

Plusieurs drapeaux rouges viennent couper le rythme de cette finale, heureusement sans gros malheurs, juste de la tôle froissée. Stéphane St-Laurent domine cette course avant de se faire surprendre par Éric Sundborg en fin de course. Yannick Poirier et Pascal Lévesque complèteront le podium. Faut souligner la belle performance de Kathy Caissy, qui a remportée son épreuve de qualification.

Slingshot JR/SR

En Slingshot Junior, les honneurs de la victoire revient à une demoiselle habituée des podiums, Claudie Lizotte. Et pour poursuivre le succès de la famille Clair, il ne manquait qu'une victoire du fiston, Gorden Clair, ce fut chose faite lors de la finale de la catégorie Senior.
