NASCAR Announces Start Times and Networks for 2021 Season

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 10, 2020) – NASCAR, in collaboration with FOX Sports and NBC Sports, today announced 2021 race start times and networks for the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series seasons.

Twenty-three total races will air on FOX and NBC this year, a two-race increase over 2020. Eleven of those will air on FOX, including the first seven NASCAR Cup Series races of the season beginning with the DAYTONA 500 (Sunday, Feb. 14, 2:30 p.m. ET). The first premier series race on dirt since 1970 will also air live on FOX when the Cup Series rolls into Bristol Motor Speedway (Sunday, March 28, 3:30 p.m. ET).

Another 12 races will air on NBC, including the debut of the NASCAR Cup Series at Road America (Sunday, July 4, 2:30 p.m. ET). The NASCAR Cup Series Championship from Phoenix Raceway (Sunday, Nov. 7, 3 p.m. ET) highlights five NASCAR Cup Series playoff races airing on NBC.

Five NASCAR Xfinity Series tilts will air live on broadcast television in 2021, highlighted by the series' first visit of the season to Talladega Superspeedway (Saturday, Apr. 24, 4 p.m. ET, FOX) and three consecutive playoff races: the Charlotte Roval (Saturday, Oct. 9, 3 p.m. ET, NBC), Texas Motor Speedway (Saturday, Oct. 16, 3 p.m. ET, NBC) and Kansas Speedway (Saturday, Oct. 23, 3 p.m. ET, NBC).

Martinsville Speedway will host a pair of primetime events in the spring with both the NASCAR Xfinity Series (Apr. 9, 8 p.m. ET, FS1) and NASCAR Cup Series (Apr. 10, 7:30 p.m. ET, FS1) taking the green flag under the lights on consecutive evenings.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will be primetime viewing 13 times in 2021, highlighted by the first-ever NASCAR race on the dirt at Knoxville Raceway on Friday, July 9 (9 p.m. ET, FS1).

Additionally, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series will take part in six Saturday day-night twin bills, including Atlanta Motor Speedway (March 20, 2:30 and 5 p.m. ET, FS1), COTA (May 22, 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. ET, FS1) and the penultimate playoff races in both series at Martinsville (Oct. 30, 1 p.m. ET on FS1 and 6 p.m. ET on NBCSN, respectively). A Saturday Camping World Truck Series and Xfinity Series double dip in Texas (June 12, 1 and 4 p.m. ET, FS1) will set the stage for FOX Sports' NASCAR Cup Series finale, which will be the debut of All-Star festivities under the lights at Texas Motor Speedway (Sunday, June 13, 6 p.m. ET, FS1).

Finally, CNBC will be home to the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Watkins Glen International (Saturday, Aug. 7, 4 p.m. ET) as NBC Sports wraps up its coverage of the 2021 Olympics.

NASCAR Adjusts Two 2021 Race Weekends in February

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Dec. 8, 2020) – Due to challenges resulting from the ongoing pandemic and the need for significant advance planning, NASCAR will adjust two race weekends immediately following the 63^rd running of the DAYTONA 500 on Sunday, Feb. 14. All three NASCAR national series will now remain in Daytona to run a tripleheader at the storied road course Feb. 19-21 before the NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series head down to Homestead-Miami Speedway on Feb. 27-28.

The NASCAR Cup Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series races on the Daytona road course will replace the events originally scheduled to take place at Auto Club Speedway on Feb. 27-28. The Camping World Truck Series race is realigned from the event originally scheduled to take place at Homestead-Maimi Speedway on Friday, Feb. 19.

After consecutive race weekends in Daytona, the Cup and Xfinity Series will make the trek to Homestead-Miami Speedway one week later than originally scheduled, rounding out the Florida swing Feb. 27-28.

Following the events at Homestead-Miami Speedway, the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR Xfinity Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series will all head to Las Vegas Motor Speedway as originally planned March 5-7.

FOX Sports platforms will carry coverage of all aforementioned race weekends, including annual coverage of the DAYTONA 500 on FOX. A complete schedule of start times and networks for all three series will be announced soon.

Pandémie de la COVID-19 - Le premier ministre François Legault dévoile les consignes à suivre pour que nos petits monstres puissent passer l'Halloween de manière sécuritaire

QUÉBEC, le 15 oct. 2020 /CNW Telbec/ - Le premier ministre du Québec, François Legault, le ministre de la Santé et des Services sociaux, Christian Dubé, et le directeur national de santé publique, D^r Horacio Arruda, ont annoncé aujourd'hui que nos petits monstres aux quatre coins du Québec pourront célébrer la fête de l'Halloween, le 31 octobre prochain, de façon toutefois différente des années précédentes en raison de la pandémie qui sévit actuellement.

Sur recommandation de la Santé publique, les activités de collecte de bonbons de maison en maison seront autorisées, à condition de respecter quelques consignes pour réduire les risques de transmission de la COVID-19.

M. Legault a évoqué trois conditions :

Les enfants - et leurs parents, pour les plus jeunes - devront circuler uniquement en compagnie des membres de leur maisonnée ;
Dans la mesure du possible, les enfants devront récolter les bonbons et friandises placés à un endroit situé à 2 mètres des occupants de la maison visitée ;
En aucun cas les enfants ne devront entrer dans des maisons.

Ces trois conditions sont les principales, mais d'autres devront être suivies lors de la collecte. Notons que :

les personnes qui présentent des symptômes de la COVID-19 ou qui sont en isolement ne doivent pas participer ;
le circuit de collecte de bonbons devra se limiter au quartier entourant le domicile des participants. Les municipalités sont invitées à assurer la fluidité de la circulation sur les trottoirs, par exemple en indiquant le sens de la circulation ;
les personnes devront toujours respecter la distance de 2 mètres avec les autres, porter un couvre-visage et s'abstenir de chanter ou de crier devant les personnes chez qui elles se rendent ;
le lavage des mains est recommandé avant le départ et au retour à la maison.

Aucun « party » ni rassemblement privé ne sera toléré

Le premier ministre a été catégorique : il n'est pas question de faire des « partys » ou des rassemblements privés d'Halloween. Cette année, l'Halloween est réservée aux enfants qui vont de porte en porte.

Le D^r Horacio Arruda a indiqué que les risques associés à l'Halloween sont considérés comme faibles, en raison du fait que les enfants circulent à l'extérieur, et ce, pendant une période relativement courte, allant d'une à trois heures. Il est à noter que le risque le plus important quant à l'Halloween demeure la déclinaison de cette fête pour les adultes, dans le cadre de rassemblements souvent privés et impliquant la consommation d'alcool.

Le D^r Arruda a rappelé que les rassemblements font déjà l'objet d'une interdiction dans les régions au niveau d'alerte maximale (rouge), alors qu'ils doivent se limiter à 6 personnes dans les régions au palier d'alerte orange et à 10 personnes dans les régions en préalerte (jaune).

Encore des mois à tenir bon

Le premier ministre a précisé qu'un certain plateau semble avoir été atteint. Cela dit, il devient très probable que certaines mesures annoncées au cours des dernières semaines soient prolongées au-delà du 28 octobre, selon l'évolution de la situation épidémiologique au Québec. M. Legault a toutefois dit qu'il entend tout faire, avec la Santé publique, pour que nos jeunes puissent reprendre des activités sportives. « Ce qu'on veut protéger aussi, c'est Noël. Je souhaite qu'on puisse voir nos familles et nos amis durant le temps des Fêtes ! ».

M. Legault a rappelé qu'on fait face à une pandémie qui est mondiale. Plusieurs pays sont forcés d'adopter des mesures strictes pour ralentir la propagation du virus, et celles-ci sont à peu près les mêmes que celles adoptées ici au Québec. « On est tous dans le même bateau. Le monde entier va se souvenir longtemps de l'année 2020 », a mentionné François Legault.

Safety Guidelines Set for Drydene World Short Track Championship, Oct. 29-31

CONCORD, NC – Oct. 14, 2020 – As the 2020 racing season winds down, short track competitors from across the country turn their eyes to The Dirt Track at Charlotte for the fifth annual Drydene World Short Track Championship.

In order to ensure compliance with Concord, Cabarrus County and North Carolina CDC guidelines for preventing the spread of COVID-19, DIRTcar Racing has implemented new rules and regulations.

In keeping with DIRTcar Racing's already established procedures, these event-specific guidelines serve as a framework to help ensure the safety of competitors and officials over the course of the three-day event.

The Guidelines and Procedures have been developed with the support of motorsports experts Agajanian & Anthony, P.C., Mr. Jeff Ladd at Sports Insurance Specialists, LLC, and Dr. Jack Faircloth, MD. Dr. Faircloth is a Coordinating Panelist for the North Mecklenburg (NC) COVID-19 Response Team and has been a strong advocate of the Clean-Cover-Confine strategy included in these guidelines.

The fifth annual Drydene World Short Track Championship is a three-day event featuring the best weekly racers in the country. The event, hosted at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, NC, Thursday, Oct. 29 to Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, will put nine divisions center stage in pursuit of a purse in excess of $120,000.

Drydene World Short Track Championship COVID Guidelines & Precautions

If a Participant is sick or displays symptoms of COVID-19, STAY HOME
ALL Attendees MUST follow CDC Guidelines throughout the entire event from entry onto the facility until exit.
Participants are required to wear a face cover at ALL times when outside of their designated pit area. We strongly encourage participants to wear a cloth face cover in their respective pit area if they cannot properly social distance.
Upon entering the facility, participants will be subjected to a temperature screening. Anyone with a temperature over 100.4 degrees will not be admitted.
Social distancing (min. 6-feet) should be practiced at all times.
Participants should professionally clean and disinfect all equipment prior to arrival to the Facility.
The Friday night Pit Party and bonfire has been canceled for this year.
No teams are allowed to park in the pit area until instructed by an official.
All motorized vehicles must be operated by someone with a valid driver's license. All ATVs, Golf Carts, UTVs, Bikes, etc. must be grounded 30 minutes after the final checkered flag and may not leave the pit area.
No riding on the top or side of a race car.

MORE IMPORTANT INFORMATION

NEW Load in Time: Early registration will be at the Dragway Pavilion Wednesday from 5-8pm. Staging on the West side of the Dragway. Hauler load into the pit area will begin from 6-8pm Wednesday.
Registration will resume Thursday at the Dragway pavilion starting at 9 am.
Limited Grandstand seating in the front stretch will be sold for Friday and Saturday Night and can be purchased at the Gate.

NASCAR Hall of Fame to Postpone Class of 2021 Induction Ceremony

Inductees Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Red Farmer, the late Mike Stefanik and Landmark Award recipient Ralph Seagraves to be honored in ceremony slated for 2022

The Induction Ceremony, which was set to take place on Friday, February 5, 2021, is now anticipated for early 2022. The Class of 2021 consists of Dale Earnhardt, Jr., Red Farmer, the late Mike Stefanik and Landmark Award recipient Ralph Seagraves.

"Without question, the safety of our inductees, our guests and our staff is the highest priority for us," said Winston Kelley, NASCAR Hall of Fame Executive Director. "The ongoing public health crisis prohibits our ability to plan for and celebrate these honorees' landmark achievements as originally scheduled to the fullest extent – with their families, friends and fans present – and in a manner that's representative of their incredible accomplishments in NASCAR and their contributions to the sport."

The celebration annually draws fans, members and visitors from across the country to a variety of special events throughout the week at the NASCAR Hall of Fame, leading up to the official Induction Dinner and Ceremony. In addition to class Inductees and the Landmark Award recipient, the Squier-Hall Award for NASCAR Media Excellence is also recognized during the week's events.

It is anticipated that the new date for the Class of 2021 Induction Ceremony and Induction Week events will be announced sometime in summer 2021. In addition, events celebrating both the class of 2020 and 2021 are hopeful for later in 2021.

The Class of 2020 exhibit in the museum's Hall of Honor will remain on display until the Class of 2021 is enshrined in 2022. The NASCAR Hall of Fame recently reopened its doors to the public with enhanced safety measures following six months of closure due to COVID-19 restrictions.

NASCAR Pinty's Series Fan Cave Challenge to Air on MAVTV

Marks first time the Pinty's Series will air on broadcast TV in the United States

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Oct. 2, 2020) – For the first time, race fans in the United States can watch the NASCAR Pinty's Series on broadcast television. All six races of this season's Pinty's Series Fan Cave Challenge will air on MAVTV beginning Sunday, Oct. 4.

Due to restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the 13-race race Pinty's Series schedule was replaced by a special six-race Pinty's Series Man Cave Challenge. Jason Hathaway won three of the six races to emerge as the Fan Cave Challenge Champion.

While fans in the United States were previously able to watch Pinty's Series action via stream, this will mark the first time the series airs on broadcast TV. All races air on TSN (English) and RDS (French) in Canada.

Justin Comes Officially Named 2020 King of Dirt Racing Champion

Schedule cut short by pandemic-related cancellations

RUTLAND, Vt. – There is a new King of Dirt Racing: Justin Comes. The Middlebury, Vt., driver has officially been named the champion for the 2020 King of Dirt Racing (KOD) Crate Modified Series, following a season that saw the tour's schedule drastically abbreviated by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The original KOD schedule contained five dates, though only two events at Devil's Bowl Speedway were completed. Albany-Saratoga Speedway in Malta, N.Y., has announced that it will not be holding its event planned for September 25 due to ongoing pandemic restrictions in New York State; that event was scheduled to be the final KOD race. Other events planned for The Flat Track at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and New York's Fonda Speedway had previously been cancelled.

Comes finished fourth in both races that were completed at his home track, Devil's Bowl Speedway in West Haven, Vermont. In each case, he was the second-highest finishing driver who was eligible to earn KOD championship points; drivers who also compete regularly in Big Block or Small Block Modified events do not earn points.

Proving his strength, Comes was one of only two drivers to finish inside the top five in both events, joining Demetrios Drellos, who is ineligible for points. Comes ran from sixth starting position to finish fourth in the first KOD event, the "Leon Gonyo Memorial" 40-lap race on August 9, finishing just behind Kevin Root, Drellos, and Kenny Tremont Jr., and ahead of Jack Speshock.

In the second event, the 11^th Annual "Northeast Crate Nationals" 50-lapper on September 12 – which was originally planned for Fonda Speedway – Comes started seventh and made his way into a thrilling battle for the win with Drellos, Adam Pierson, and Tanner Siemons, leading 15 laps in the process. He was shuffled back on some late restarts, finishing behind Drellos, Pierson, and Siemons, with David Schilling behind him in fifth place.

Comes is the first Vermonter to win a King of Dirt Racing championship, joining New York racers Rocky Warner, Connor Cleveland, and Bobby Hackel as a KOD Crate Modified Series titlist. Known as "The Highside Hustler" for his tendency to use the far outside lane on the racetrack, Comes has competed occasionally with KOD since 2015 and has seven career wins in weekly Sportsman Modified competition at Devil's Bowl and Bear Ridge Speedway.

"We are proud to call Justin Comes the King of Dirt Racing champion for 2020," KOD president Mike Bruno said. "We obviously wish that the schedule had played out differently, but Justin Comes earned his title and he raced hard for the win at the Northeast Crate Nationals last week. He is an outstanding racer with a small, family team, and that is what KOD was built on. It's good to have a driver like Justin Comes on the list of KOD champions."

Bristol, Vt., rookie Josh Masterson is the runner-up in the KOD standings for 2020, and he will also take home "Newcomer of the Year" honors. Masterson was strong in his first season on dirt, with finishes of 11^th and 8^th in the two KOD races. Johnstown, N.Y.'s Brian Calabrese finished third in KOD points for the second straight year, followed by Tim LaDuc and Siemons. Even with only two events run, 54 different drivers competed with KOD.

King of Dirt Racing features the popular Sportsman-type dirt Modified stock car and the economical General Motors "602" crate engine package. KOD events offer some of the best-paying Sportsman-level purses in the Northeast, and the schedule is kept short by design to offer an affordable touring alternative for grassroots racers.
