Montréal, le 13 avril 2011 - La seule manche canadienne d'une des séries majeures de NASCAR, le NAPA Pièces d'auto 200 présenté par Dodge, aura un ambassadeur de qualité à compter du prochain week-end sur le circuit de Lee au New Hampshire. C'est en effet lors de cette première épreuve du championnat ACT que la voiture no 80 du vétéran québécois Donald Theetge affichera sur son capot le logo officiel de l'événement NASCAR Nationwide des 19 et 20 août prochain, au circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Au New Hampshire, comme à neuf autres reprises par la suite, jusqu'à la mi-août, le populaire coureur de Boischatel sera alors au volant de son bolide LMS. Mais il y a plus : puisque Theetge disputera pour la première fois cet été les manches trifluvienne et montréalaise de la série canadienne de NASCAR, il affichera aussi sur son autre voiture, le logo distinctif de l'événement dans cet autre championnat.

Veteran Donald Theetge Named Ambassador Of The NAPA Auto Parts 200 Presented by Dodge On the Quebec and Northeastern United States Race Tracks Scene

Montréal, April 13, 2011 - The NAPA Auto Parts 200 presented by Dodge, the only Canadian stop on the NASCAR series major tours, will have an ambassador starting next weekend at Lee USA Speedway in New Hampshire for the opening round of the 2011 American-Canadian Tour (ACT). The event will mark the introduction of the new livery on the hood of the number 80 racecar of veteran Quebec driver Donald Theetge, promoting the August 19-20 NASCAR Nationwide event on Circuit Gilles Villeneuve. In New Hampshire and for nine other ACT race events until the middle of August, the famous driver from Boischatel will be competing with his LMS car displaying the official logo of the Montréal race. Additionally, Theetge will, for the first time ever, be competing this summer in the NASCAR Canada rounds in Trois-Rivières and Montréal displaying the same livery.

Donald Theetge poursuit cette année une carrière entreprise au début des années 90. Dès 1998, il était vice-champion de la Super Série Prolab, un exploit répété en 2003 en série Suprême ADL. En 2004, il était champion de la série LMS et à nouveau vice-champion en 2005. Lui qui revendique 14 victoires depuis 2006 en série ACT Castrol, a aussi été couronné champion en 2006 et en 2009. Il revendique deux victoires dans la série ACT américaine et a aussi pris part à quatorze épreuves de série CASCAR au début des années 2000, signant une 4e place à Toronto en 2003. On l'a aussi vu en série Grand-Am continental, notamment à Daytona et à Trois-Rivières.

« Je suis bien heureux d'avoir conclu cette entente avec les organisateurs du NAPA Pièces d'auto 200 présenté par Dodge, a expliqué le nouvel ambassadeur. Cette année, j'ai une excellente raison de collaborer à la promotion de l'événement auprès des amateurs de stock-car du Québec et du Nord-Est américain. Pour la première fois, je vais participer à la course de la série canadienne de NASCAR au circuit Gilles-Villeneuve. Donald Theetge began competing in the early 1990s. He was champion runner-up in the 1998 Quebec-based Prolab Super Series and in the 2003 ADL Supreme Series. The following year, he captured the LMS Championship crown and finished second in the driver's standings in 2005. Theetge has collected 14 wins in the Québec ACT Series since 2006, winning the championship title in 2006 and 2009. He has claimed two victories in the American ACT Series and competed in 14 CASCAR Series races in the early 2000s, with a best fourth-place finish in Toronto in 2003. Theetge also ran in the Grand-Am Continental Challenge Series at Daytona and Trois-Rivières.

Prior to his first race in Montréal, Donald Theetge's fans can see him in action this weekend in the American ACT season opener at Lee USA Speedway in New Hampshire. Theetge will then take part in the ACT Castrol Edge season opener at Autodrome Montmagny on May 28 and on July 2. His season includes two races in Valley Junction's Autodrome Chaudière on May 21 and August 6, two at Autodrome Saint-Eustache on June 4 and July 16 and at Riverside Speedway in Sainte-Croix on June 18 and July 9. He will be back in New Hampshire for the Loudon race on August 12-13. The Boischatel driver will also compete at the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières on August 7.

Waterbury, VT – Everybody likes opening days in any sport. The American Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model teams are no different. It doesn’t matter if you are running for points or not, new teams and veteran teams all look forward to opening a new race season.

The list of entrants for the ACT opening event at the Lee USA Speedway New Hampshire Governor’s Cup 150 is long and impressive. Upwards of fifteen new teams will experience their first opening day race with ACT in 2011. The returning corps of veteran championship teams is deep and come from a diverse section of northern weekly and touring facilities.

“Things have certainly changed since we all started this Late Model thing back in the mid-nineties. It was really an off-shoot of Thunder Road and Airborne teams with an occasional ‘outsider’ joining us in the beginning,” said 7-time ACT Champion Brian Hoar from Williston, VT. “Today, we have teams from nearly every state in New England and a couple provinces of Canada, many of whom have won various championships in their careers. What is really neat is the quality of the new teams that seem to join us each year. Seeing so many new faces at this past February’s New Smyrna Speedway races was an indication that there is a lot of interest in ACT Late Model racing. It is an exciting thing to be a part of,” concluded Hoar.

Over forty (40) teams are expected to attempt to qualify for the annual lid-lifter for the American Canadian Tour at the Lee USA Speedway on Sunday, April 17, 2011. In the eight previous events held at Lee, there have been no repeat winners. Miles Chipman who raced Lee on a regular basis in 2010 is the defending champion of the New Hampshire Governor’s Cup event.

The hottest driver in ACT competition, Joey Pole (2008 winner) said, “I really want to be the first repeat winner and keep my momentum up from the end of last year.” [Pole won the New Hampshire ACT Invitational, the People’s Bank Milk Bowl, the finale at Waterford Speedbowl last October, and the Goodyear Cup at the New Smyrna Speedway during Speedweeks at Daytona this past February.]

“When Miles (Chipman) won last year it really sent a message that weekly guys from all the tracks we visit have become very competitive against those of us that only get to race at tracks once or twice a year. Also, this year there are a lot of very good new teams that have joined the tour. Once they get used to tour-type racing, the competition is going to get tougher and tougher. A win at Lee will really help our team get focused on our primary goal which is to win the ACT title this year. It would be a dream come true to beat guys like Brian (Hoar) and Jean (Cyr), but really there should be at least six or eight teams that will be in the hunt for the championship this year. I can’t wait to get started and I know how important an opening day win can be toward our goal of winning the ACT title,” concluded Pole.

The opening of the 2011 season will take place on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at the Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH. Gates open at 10:00pm and post time is scheduled for 1:00.

ACT PR: ACT OPENER AT LEE TO HAVE PLENTY OF NEW NAMES

NEW HAMPSHIRE’S MILES CHIPMAN TO DEFEND TITLE

Waterbury, VT – The officials at the American Canadian Tour (ACT) based in Waterbury, VT have seen the largest influx of new teams to begin the 2011 season in its history.

“This is a good sign that things are improving in spite of the recessionary issues we have been facing over the past couple years. Also, just as in 2008, the spike in the price of fuel apparently does not seem to be having much effect with the enthusiasm to get the season open. We actually think we might have benefitted during the 2008 fuel increase, as many fans attended the regional and weekly short tracks, rather than taking expensive, long distance vacation trips,” said Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour.

Over 40 race teams have entered the opening New Hampshire Governor’s Cup event on Sunday, April 17, 2011, including defending Governor’s Cup winner Miles Chipman, from Epping, NH. Chipman stunned the ACT regulars with an impressive win at his home track a year ago. Along with the familiar stars of the ACT, there are many new teams that will be racing the popular Late Model cars during the 2011 campaign.

“We have had entries from a couple of former NASCAR Busch East drivers, Mike Bruno, from Rutland, VT and Tom Carey Jr., from New Salem, MA. Former Lee regulars JR Baril, Jeffrey Labreque Jr., and Katrina Canney have all filed entries for the Governor’s Cup event. Rookie drivers Kyle DeSouza from Fairhaven, MA, the 2010 Devil’s Bowl Speedway champion Hunter Bates from Pittsford, VT, and Daniel Khilall, a youngster, but seasoned quarter midget driver from Jersey City, NJ will race his first ACT event at Lee USA,” said Nick Bigelow, Media Director and statistician for ACT.

The state of Maine will send two successful veteran teams to Lee. Dennis Spencer Jr. from Oxford and Shane Green from neighboring South Paris both plan to run the full ACT US schedule beginning at Lee USA.

Ray Parent from Tiverton, RI, a former Pro Stock racer at the Seekonk Speedway, and Peter Yetman, former Thompson, CT Late Model racer from Peru, MA will each make their second ACT appearances at the opening event. Parent and Yetman were two of the twenty-eight teams to travel to New Smyrna Speedway during Daytona Speedweeks to compete in the first ever Florida visit by the ACT Late Models last February. Quebec City veterans Donald Theetge and Yvon ‘The Bullet’ Bedard will also make Lee their first official event of 2011, having competed in the Goodyear Cup race at New Smyrna along with Parent. Aaron Fellows from Croydon, NH will join half the Florida field of racers to get his northern racing underway for 2011.

“This just might be the largest opening day field of cars we have had at Lee. It certainly is the most diverse mix of racers from throughout the region we have ever seen at an opening event. The number of new teams that will compete in weekly and touring events this season is a gratifying tribute to the teams, promoters, and officials who have helped develop ACT Late Model racing in the region over the past decade. If the results at Lee are anything close to how exciting the racing was in Florida it will be a great way to start the 2011 season,” said Curley.

The winner of the Governor’s Cup will also win the first coveted spot for the ACT Invitational at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway, which will take place during the NASCAR ‘Chase’ weekend September 16-18, 2011. The gates open for the Lee USA Governor’s Cup at 10:00 and post time for 150 green flag laps is 1:00 pm.

Chris Eggleston Wins PASS South “THE RACE” and $75,000.00 at North Wilkesboro Speedway

Colorado native takes home the big payday in North Carolina

With 77 drivers making their way to North Wilkesboro Speedway (NC) April 7^th – 10^th to try and win the “THE RACE” Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South presented by JE Pistons and Roush Yates Performance Parts, only one driver could go home with the $75,000.00 winner’s purse. At the end of 300 laps of competition, Colorado’s Chris Eggleston crossed under the checkered flag first to win the historic event.

“Holy cow! That is my initial thought,” said a happy Eggleston in victory lane. “This deal didn’t come together until two weeks ago. Crew chief Butch Miller gave me a call, said he got a sponsor, and decided to let me come on out and drive. He has never steered me wrong. I am so happy!”

Johnny Clark and Jay Fogleman led the 44-car field down to take the green flag in the historic 300-lap event. Clark was able to clear Fogleman, leading the monumental first lap of the race. Meanwhile, positions shuffled all through the field as drivers worked their way around the track.

At lap four, Andy Loden decided it was time to lead as he drove on the outside of Clark, taking the top spot. Augie Grill followed him to the front, working his way to the second position, putting Clark back to third. Pat Kelly rode fourth with Ryan Moore fifth. Just before lap 15, Grill decided it was his turn to lead as he drove around Loden for the first position.

At lap 24, the first car off the pace was the #40 of Sterling Marlin, who ducked onto pit road for service. A couple laps later, the #112 of Grill caught the back of the pack to start lapping cars. Through the lapping of traffic, Loden went back to the lead around Grill with Kelly, Bubba Pollard and Patrick Laperle running in the top-five positions just before lap 40. At lap 48, through heavy lapped traffic, Grill went back to the front, putting Loden back to second.

The first yellow of the afternoon flew at lap 52 as Joey Doiron had trouble in turns three and four, receiving damage to his right front. The top five at the yellow were Grill, Loden, Pollard, Eggleston and Kelly.

All restarts in the PASS Series are double file, putting Grill and Loden side by side as the field headed back to turn one at speed. Loden came around the lead the next lap with Pollard and Kelly dropping in second and third. At lap 55, Pollard drove his #18 to the front to take the lead while many of the racers back in the pack went side by side for position.

As Brian Ickler ducked onto pit road, the yellow flew for the second time as drivers stacked up in turn four. Mike Rowe received some damage, but was able to continue.

The green flag flew with Pollard and Grill driving down towards turn one, but the field started stacking up behind them. After contact between a couple cars, Rebecca Kasten’s #51 machine hit the turn-one wall. Kenzie Ruston was also collected up in the incident, but was able to drive away while Kasten’s car had to be hauled off on the hook.

The field headed back to turn one under speed with Pollard leading Grill, but Jody Lavender, who started 21^st, was on the move, working his way to second.

The caution flew again at lap 68 as Patrick Laperle went around in turn two. The entire field dove left and right, avoiding a major incident as Laperle was able to right his car and tag the end of the field.

Lavender took his turn at the point on the restart, taking the lead from Pollard.

The caution flew at lap 84 as John Batten and Scott Mulkern made contact down the back stretch, sending Batten into the pit entrance water barrels. Despite the heavy damage to his car, Batten was able to exit his car and was OK.

Pollard got the run on the high side to take the lead as the field went back to green. Lavender and Loden fell in behind, second and third. While the field jockeyed for position behind them, the top-three drivers stayed in their positions until the lap 100 mark, ending the first segment of the race. During the eight-minute break, the teams worked on their cars and were allowed to change four tires to prep them for the second segment.

At lap 100 the top-10 drivers were Pollard, Lavender, Loden, Jeff Choquette, Grill, Ross Kenseth, TJ Reaid, Ryan Blaney, Eggleston and Eric Darnell. 28 of the 44 drivers that started the race were still on the lead lap.

Pollard and Lavender brought the field down to the green flag to begin the second segment. Pollard held the top spot, but Lavender dropped back putting Loden in second followed by Choquette, Grill and Reaid.

As the leaders caught lapped traffic around lap 130, Grill, who had worked his way up to second, dropped back to third as Loden moved his way forward, trying to reel in Pollard. At the lap 150 halfway mark, Pollard still led the field with Loden second, Eggleson third, Choquette fourth and Grill fifth. Two laps later, Eggleston worked his way around Loden to take the second position.

The yellow flag flew for the first time in the second segment at lap 164 for a spin on the backstretch by Justin Wakefield, who had been off the pace for several laps.

Pollard and Eggleston ran first and second after the restart with Choquette dropping into the third position.

A lot of contact throughout the field ended up biting a few drivers as contact between a couple cars on the front stretch at lap 180 had cars swerving to try and miss a mess. Sanborn, Garrett Evans and Laperle were just a few cars that received damage from the incident, the eighth caution of the race.

On the restart, Pollard stayed on point, but Choquette worked his way into the second position around Eggleston. That position was short lived though as Eggleston took the runner-up spot back a few laps later.

Just before the lap 200 end-of-segment break, while negotiating lapped traffic, Eggleston was able to work his way to the lead around Pollard. Right at the lap 200 segment break, Alex Fleming looped his car in turn two.

The top 10 drivers at the break, where teams could once again bolt on four brand-new tires and make adjustments, were Eggleston, Pollard, Reaid, Choquette, Loden, Kenseth, Blaney, Ben Rowe, Fogleman and Clark. 19 drivers were on the lead lap at lap 200.

The third and final segment kicked off with Eggleston and Pollard side as the field got up to speed. Pollard didn’t waste any time as he jumped out to the lead. Eggleston settled in second with Choquette, Reaid and Loden rounding out the top five.

With 50 laps remaining in “THE RACE,” Pollard still led Eggleston by a couple car lengths as the two negotiated around lapped traffic. Choquette, Reaid and Loden ran in the third through fifth positions.

For the next 25 laps, Pollard and Eggleston weaved in and out of lapped traffic, nose to tail. As they came up on some hard racing by a few drivers, Pollard appeared to try to turn under Clark off turn four and got sideways, allowing Eggleston to drive to the high side and take the lead at lap 276.

Over the final laps in the caution-free third and final segment, Eggleston was able to pull away from Pollard, taking THE RACE win, earning himself a cool $75,000.00.

“This is just so exciting,” said Eggleston. “The first segment I thought we were really good. We used it to get a feel for the car and see how it was on short runs and long runs. The restarts were killing us with the crate motor. Every time a yellow came out, all I could do is cover my shield and yell “here we go again.” In the middle session we were a tick loose on late exit and a little bit on late entry, so I dialed some front brake to help that.

“I told Butch we needed to close up the stagger a little bit and hopefully nothing would change. It got a little bit tight; too tight. We probably should have left it alone with the sun going down. I felt like the track really tightened up.”

With the bobble in traffic Eggleston was able to take the lead late in the race from Pollard but if the lapped traffic wasn’t a factor, he wasn’t sure he would be standing in victory lane.

“I don’t know if we had enough to get around the #18. We just caught him at the right time in lapped traffic, and that is all it took.”

If the race was 30 laps shorter, Pollard would have been celebrating in victory lane. However, a combination of his car’s handling and the lapped traffic cost him the victory.

“We just got tight in the center of the corner,” said Pollard. “I put too much wheel in it, making me loose off. The #54 (Clark) kind of messed me up right there. He (Eggleston) was able to get by me with lapped cars. We had a pretty good race car and he did too. Congratulations to him.”

Choquette started 19^th in the field, and survived to take home a podium finish.

“I didn’t think it would go green that whole way, that was surprising,” said Choquette. “I can’t say enough about my guys. They did an awesome job.”

Reaid and Ben Rowe rounded out the top five.

The PASS South presented by JE Pistons and Roush Yates Performance Products will be back in action at Hickory Motor Speedway (NC) on Saturday, April 23^rd, for “The Easter Bunny 150” event, which is also a PASS National Championship race.

Pro All Stars Series News-IMPoRTANT NOTICE - Rain forces THE RACE to Sunday April 10 - Sunday schedule

For immediate release

North Wilkesboro NC ( 4/9) Rain moved in over North Wilkesboro Speedway immediately after the field was set for the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) presented by JE Pistons and Roush Yates Performance Products THE RACE, forcing a one day postponement of the $75,000.00 to win short track spectacular until Sunday April 10.

On Sunday the pit area will open at 10:00 AM and the spectator grandstands at 11:00 AM. Tickets are available at the gate for tomorrow's rescheduled event.

The green flag will drop on the Modified feature at 2:00 PM, followed by THE RACE, 300 laps for a 44 car field of PASS super late models.

Field Set for the PASS South “THE RACE” at North Wilkesboro Speedway

44 Drivers Set to Take the Green Flag for $75,000.00 Sunday Afternoon

A total of 77 drivers entered the gates at North Wilkesboro Speedway (NC) this weekend to partake in the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South presented by JE Pistons and Roush Yates Performance Products “THE RACE,” which is scheduled to take place Sunday afternoon, April 10^th. After qualifying, heat races and a couple last chance events, the 44-car field is set to take the green flag at the historic North Carolina track, where the winner will take home $75,000.00, along with five drivers eligible for the additional $25,000.00 bonus.

On Friday, Stephen Nasse etched his name in the record books, earning the McGunegill Engine Performance Fast Time Award with a new track record of 18.700 seconds. Justin Wakefield, Ryan Moore, Brian Ickler, Bubba Pollard, Augie Grill, Pat Kelly, Andy Loden, Johnny Clark, Jay Fogleman, Cale Gale, Kenzie Ruston, Trevor Sanborn, TJ Reaid and Chris Eggleston all locked themselves into the field as the fastest 15 during qualifying. The top-10 drivers redrew for their starting positions, with Clark and Fogleman starting THE RACE on the front row followed by Kelly, Loden, Grill, Pollard, Wakefield, Moore, Ickler and Nasse.

Friday evening, five 25-lap heat races were run with the top-three drivers in each race transferring into THE RACE. Winners of the heat races were Patrick Laperle, Ross Kenseth, Ryan Blaney, Jeff Choquette and Preston Peltier. Others that transferred in during the heat races were Jody Lavender, Rebecca Kasten, Mario Gosslin, Brandon Ward, Erik Darnell, Heath Hindman, Corey Williams, Mike Rowe, Garrett Evans and Scott Mulkern.

Saturday, the balance of the non-qualified drivers raced in two 40-lap last chance races with just the winners transferring into THE RACE. Taking the victories in the two races were Trey Mitchell and Alex Fleming.

Provisionals to complete the 44-car field went to Ben Rowe, Joey Doiron, Steve Legendre, Cassius Clark, Gary Smith, John Batten, Jimmy Weller, Scott Alexander, Randy Turner and Gray Gaulding. Geoff Bodine and Sterling Marlin were added to the back of the field as North Wilkesboro Speedway track provisionals.

In addition to the $75,000.00 that will go to the winner, five drivers have a chance at an additional $25,000.00 bonus. Clark, Fogleman, Peltier, Legendre and Rowe competed full time in either the PASS North or PASS South season in 2010, as well as the four National events, making them eligible for the extra cash if they win THE RACE.
