GRANBY, Que. – June 10, 2016 –

GRANBY, Que. – June 10, 2016 – Autodrome Granby kicked off the 2016 DIRTcar Northeast Pro Stock Series schedule as local standout Stephane Lemire was a man on a mission as he led most of the race capturing the first event of the season in the series.

Francois Adam and Stephane Lemire were on the front row of the 33-car starting grid for the 47-lap event, Lemire was the early leader as Adam was on his back bumper with Jocelyn Roy in third. A good battle for the lead was occurring as Guy Viens took third spot as PJ Peters caused the first caution on lap 6 with a left rear flat tire.

Lemire remained in the lead for three more laps as Bruno Cyr slowed in the backstretch slowing the field down. On the start, Adam took the lead away from Lemire as defending series champion Dave Bissonnette was now in the mix. The Cornwall, Ontario-resident used the outside lane and was challenging Lemire for second with 15 laps in the books.

Lemire was strong on the inside and caught up to the leader as both cars ran side-by-side with Lemire back in the front spot just before Jeffrey Lapalme spun out in turn 4 with 27 laps to go.

Lemire drove his No. 115 car to the lead with Adam, Bissonnette, Rock Aubin and Stephane Lebrun behind him at the halfway point. Bissonnette was comfortable using the high lane and was running side-by-side with Adam for second as Lapalme slowed the field with 28 laps in the record book.

Lemire kept the first position as the battle continued for second between Adam and Bissonnette. A restart saw contender Alain Brochu hit the inside wall with only a dozen laps to go.

Bissonnette used the outside groove to take second from Adam on lap 39 while Bruno Cyr spun out in turn four with 6 laps to go.

Lemire led the final laps and captured the feature over Francois Adam and Dave Bissonnette on the podium.

''My car stuck to inside for the whole race'' Lemire said in the winner circle. ''I almost opted for the outside of the final restart but I saw Bissonnette and decided to stay in and it paid off!''

The DIRTcar Pro Stock series returns to action in Western New York for a doubleheader at Albany Saratoga and Lebanon Valley Speedway on July 22 and 23.

Airborne 2016-06-11

The 358 Modifieds made their return to Airborne Park Speedway with 26 machines taking the green flag for the 75 lap main event.

A lap-62 restart saw Mooers driver, Chris Cayea, in the top spot, having to hold off Sportsman Modified challenger, Nick Heywood. Cayea was able to lead the final 26 laps, en route to victory. Heywood pulled to wheels of Cayea three times, but couldn't get enough power to drive around.

St. Albans driver, Aaron Bartemy took the early lead and led until a caution on lap-48. That lap-48 caution was for Bartemy, as his left rear wheel snapped off the B3 machine and spun him around off the top of turn two. 
The top five was completed by Bloomingdale's Matt Woodruff, Saranac Lake's George Foley and Jake Branham of Plattsburgh. St. Remi Quebec's Roger Labreche, Woodruff and Foley were all heat race winners.
The Jeffords Steel Renegade division ran it's longest distance race of the season to this point. A lap-47 restart had Milton's Robert Gordon in the lead with Essex driver Josh Terry in second. Gordon restarted on the inside with Terry on the top, and Terry drove to the lead for good on the outside. Gordon, Richie Turner, Zach Rabtoy and Jon Boutin rounded out the top five.
The Busch Beer Mini Mod feature saw Mooers driver, Dale O'Neil take the lead early and never look back. Peru's Josh LaPorte worked around Keeseville's Tim LaFountain with two laps to go for the second spot. LaFountain, Robert Foley and Eddie Bresette completed the top five.

Persistent Rain Forces Postponement of Thunder Road Harvest Equipment Event

 

Persistent rain showers have forced the postponement of the Harvest Equipment event at Barre, VT's Thunder Road scheduled for Sunday, June 12. A make-up date is to be determined.

 

Despite multiple efforts to dry the racing surface for the event, which was originally scheduled for May 22, the rains returned each time. All grandstand admission tickets and pit passes purchased for the event will be honored at Casella Waste Management Night, on Thursday, June 16.

 

Casella Night will kick off Thunder Road's 57th season of Thursday night racing. The event features a full card of action for the Thunder Road Late Models, Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen, and Allen Lumber Street Stocks. Post time is 7:00pm. Admission is $12 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-12, and $25 for a family of four (2 adults, 2 kids).

Toujours meneur au championnat des pilotes de la série CARS TOUR, le Québécois de Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce, Raphaël Lessard, qui a signé sa toute première victoire de la série au Hickory Motor Speedway le 7 mai dernier, retourne en Caroline du Nord pour participer à la quatrième des dix épreuves du CARS SUPER LATE MODEL TOUR, qui se disputera ce week-end au Tri-County Motor Speedway de Hudson, NC.

 

De nouveau au volant de la 99 FRL Express/Team Coach Imaging/Toyota/JBL Auto de l'écurie David Gilliland Racing, Raphaël Lessard sera en piste le vendredi 10 juin pour la journée d'essais libres, en prévision de la course SUPER LATE MODEL qui commencera vers 19 h 30 le samedi 11 juin, juste avant la course de Late Models.

 

Circuit désigné de la série NASCAR, le Tri-County Motor Speedway est une piste d'asphalte inclinée d'une longueur de 4/10 de mille. CRS Express 300 Postponed

NASCAR Pinty's Series Race At Chaudiere Moved To June 24

                                                                    

Daytona Beach, Fla. (June 9) – Due to the forecast for rain throughout the weekend, Autodrome Chaudière has postponed the CRS Express 300 originally scheduled for Saturday. The race will be run Friday, June 24.

 

The NASCAR Pinty's Series will return to action on Saturday, June 18, at Ontario's Sunset Speedway for the running of the Leland Industries 300 presented by Dickies.

 

A revised race-day schedule for the CRS Express 300 will be released at a later date.

$10,000 358 Modified Shootout, Take Two



 

PLATTSBURGH- This weekend at Airborne Park Speedway, the Ernie's Discount Tools 358 Mod Shootout plus Sunoco Race Fuels Renegade 50 presented by Riley Ford.

 

The 358 Modifieds will make their return to the Airborne half-mile. After rain forced postponement of the event back on May 29, we are set to go with 75 laps of racing action for the Modifieds. Some of the Ernie's Discount Tools Sportsman Modified drivers will challenge the 358 Mods in the event. The top five from the Sportsman event back on May 28 will be guaranteed starters for this Saturday's race. Bucko Branham, Codie Aubin, Nick Heywood, Mike Wells and Danny Sullivan are the five guaranteed starters that will challenge Patrick Dupree, George Foley, Jessey Mueller, Pierre Berthiaume, Richard Tisseur and the rest of the 358 field.

 

In addition, the Jeffords Steel Renegades will run a 50 lap feature. Robert Gordon has been tough in the division, already picking up three wins on the season. Keep an eye out for some of the extra distance specialists in the race this weekend, Shawn Duquette, Richie Turner and Josh Terry as they all look for their first win of the season.

 

The Busch Beer Mini Mods will also be in action for their regular distance action. Josh LaPorte and Dale O'Neil have been the class of the field to this point with LaPorte picking up three wins and O'Neil picking up two.

 

Ticket prices for the weekend will be $15 for adults, $5 for kids ages 6-12 and $30 for a family of 2 adults and 2 kids. Post time for the event will be 6pm with the main gates opening at 3pm.

Spectacle décevant en Sportsman Qc

C'est ce samedi 4 juin que s'est tenu le 2e programme de la saison de la Série Sportsman Qc au Riverside Speedway Ste-Croix. Un programme présenté par Métalico qui devait être 4 x 25 tours en positions inversées. Pour l'occasion, 24 pilotes étaient en piste.

Si la forme du programme donnait effectivement place à beaucoup de luttes au niveau des pilotes, plusieurs pilotes auront oublié le sens d'une saine compétition lors de ce programme.

Les séances de qualification qui se sont quant à eux bien déroulées ont été remportées par le #89 Marc Bertrand, le #17 Jimmy Nadeau ainsi que par le #81 Dave Trevors.

Nombreux ont été les amateurs déçus du programme qu'ils ont vu ce samedi. Avec une indiscipline incontrôlable, les neutralisations se sont enchainées d'épreuve en épreuve laissant place à un spectacle de tôles froissées. On aurait cru qu'après un premier 25 tours aussi intenses, le retour en piste des pilotes aurait été plus discipliné, mais il n'en fût pas le cas. Malheureusement, les 100 tours n'ont pu être complétés faute de temps ayant un couvre-feu à respecter.

Terminant avec un cumulatif de 16 points au combiné des 3 épreuves, c'est le #40 Sylvain Labbé commandité par IGA Veilleux qui est sortie gagnant de cette épreuve suivi en deuxième position avec 17 points du #41 Samuel Charland commandité par Charest International de Victoriaville. Après vérification de tous les tours de la 2e étape, le #33 Philippe Poulin avec sa voiture aux couleurs de Beauce Technologie, a bel et bien réussi à revenir en piste en réparant un bris mécanique sur un drapeau jaune. Au moment où il est entré aux puits, une neutralisation amenant les remorques à sortir les voitures #77 Mickael Isabelle ainsi que les #97 Jacques Poulin a forcé les pilotes à faire plusieurs tours sur le jaune. Aidés par l'équipe #22 Louis-Philippe Labrecque, les mécaniciens ont travaillé d'arrache-pied pour ramener la voiture en piste. Au moment même où le vert a été donné, le #33 Philippe Poulin est revenu sur la piste ne manquant donc aucun tour.

Le prix de la meilleure recrue Méchoui International revient au #48 Dave Caron commandité par JLM Métal qui a su démontrer son expérience de pilotage dans un programme loin d'être évident pour une recrue. C'est en 11e position sur 24 qu'il termine le programme.

Étant commanditaire principal de la soirée, M. Réjean Pichette a pris la décision de ne remettre aucune performance de la semaine pour ce programme et de reporter le montant au programme de Montmagny étant très déçu de l'attitude négative de certains pilotes autant en piste que hors piste, M. Pichette a préféré retirer sa mention d'honneur pour ce programme.

Suite à ce programme, le promoteur et président de la Série Sportsman Qc ainsi que ses officiels sont actuellement en grande réflexion. Se voulant transparent comme toujours, un suivi vous sera fait dans les prochains jours suite aux décisions prises.

Mini Sportsman; un exemple à suivre
Les pilotes de la série Mini Sportsman qui se présentaient pour la grande majorité pour une première fois sur le Riverside Speedway Ste-Croix ont donné un excellent spectacle. Prenant le temps de s'acclimater à la piste, nous avons pu voir 2 x 8 tours avec position inversée avec une seule neutralisation. Le #81 Jérémy Bergeron commandité par DMCC Drift est sorti vainqueur de cette 2e course. Menant une course brillante et usant de patience lors de ses dépassements, la #8 Victoria Bélanger aux couleurs de Posimage, a terminé en 2e position. Effectuant un retour pour ce programme, la #36 Sabina Bundic commandité par VR Victoriaville qui est partie à l'arrière lors des deux finales a su remonter les positions une à une avant d'être victime d'un accrochage.

Avec son excellent résultat lors de la 1ere épreuve, au combiné, elle est montée sur la 3e marche du podium. L'étoile du programme est revenue à notre pilote recrue le #77 Cédrik Grenier qui a démontré une très grande amélioration lors de ce programme. Une belle complicité s'est dégagée de cette course parmi les pilotes qui se félicitaient un et l'autre de leur performance. Félicitation à l'ensemble des pilotes Mini Sportsman.
