WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil's Bowl Speedway has made some adjustments to its weekly stock car racing divisions for the 2017 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series season. The changes are the latest step in an unending process of improving the quality and entertainment value of events at both the half-mile Asphalt Track and the 3/10-mile Dirt Track at the Vermont facility, with several additional enhancements to be announced soon.

While the open-wheel Sportsman Modifieds will retain their stature as the headline "Division I" class for both surfaces at Devil's Bowl, the spotlight will shine a little brighter on the support divisions.

The Late Model division has been transitioned away from weekly competition at the Asphalt Track and into a special event series. The move is designed to reduce overall expenses for competitors while ensuring that the fan-favorite class remains an integral part of Devil's Bowl Speedway in 2017. Current local competitors strongly supported the concept in recent meetings, and several new teams have expressed interest in the series.

The Late Models will have four Saturday night 50-lap races – each paying $800 to win – on June 3, June 24, July 22, and August 12. The class will also be part of the annual "Double Stack Night" on August 26 with twin 25-lap features. Two previously-announced American-Canadian Tour events on Sunday, May 7, and Sunday, September 10, will round out the seven-race Late Model calendar at Devil's Bowl.

The intermediate Renegade class has been rebranded as the "Super Stock" division for both the Asphalt Track and the Dirt Track. The Super Stocks have an old-school feel with rumbling V8 engines and a blend of old and new body styles. Drivers mix it up with fender-banging action, and the same cars race competitively on both the asphalt and dirt surfaces with minimal changes.

The Super Stocks will be elevated locally within the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series to "Division II" designation. As a result, an extra $1,000 will be added to the post-season Top 10 Super Stock point funds for each track for the 2017 season, and the champions will each win a minimum of $1,000.

In turn, the entry-level Mini Stock division – which features production vehicles with stock four-cylinder engines and only slight, affordable modifications for racing – has been bumped up to "Division III" status. Each track's Mini Stock champion will win $500 in 2017.

Full season schedules are still under construction and are expected to be released before January 1, with several new features added to both tracks. Information for the annual Banquet of Champions will also be made available soon.

Veteran FBI Executive Brings Wealth of Experience to Role

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (November 30, 2016) – NASCAR and International Speedway Corporation have named veteran FBI executive and risk management expert Christopher Davis as Managing Director and Chief Security Officer.

Davis will lead strategy development and execution for corporate, facility and event security, working closely with international and federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies on behalf of fans, venues, teams, and infrastructure. Davis will assume leadership of the NASCAR and ISC senior management-directed implementation of their enterprise-wide security strategies. Through his role at NASCAR, Davis also will work closely with other venues that host NASCAR-sanctioned races.

Davis brings a distinguished public and private sector leadership background to the new position, including service as an Assistant Special Agent in Charge and Inspector for the FBI. In addition to his lengthy FBI tenure, Davis held senior executive positions with private firms Contemporary Services Corporation and Sequrus, LLC.

"With his broad experience and proven success as a leader at every level, Chris is exactly the right fit to oversee the very complex security and risk management operations for our sport," said Mike Helton, Vice Chairman, NASCAR. · Supervisory Special Agent, Los Angeles Joint Terrorism Task Force, where he managed interagency coordination;

· Assistant Legal Attaché, United States Embassy, Ottawa, Canada, where he oversaw security and contingency planning for the G-8 Summit as well as Presidential and Secretary of State delegation visits

· Assistant Special Agent in Charge, Executive Manager, Orlando and Tampa, Florida, where Davis was principally charged with directing the FBI's security effort for Super Bowl XLIII, the 2008 World Series and NBA Finals, the 2012 NBA All-Star Game and Weekend, and the 2012 Republican National Convention.

After completing his FBI career, Davis served as Senior Vice President for Contemporary Services Corporation and Vice President for Sequrus, overseeing those firms' security consulting and business development efforts.

NAPLES, ME (November 29) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials have released the six dates and locations that will make up the 10^th Annual PASS National Championship Series. The schedule is comprised of six premier Super Late Model events in both PASS North and PASS South that will determine an overall PASS National Champion. The PASS National Championship Series will see the champion crowned for the first time ever at the prestigious 44^th Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway in August. And, the PASS National Championship Series will return to North Carolina's Orange County Speedway next March for the first time since 2014.

Since 2008, some of the best short track racers in North America have captured the PASS National Championship including Cassius Clark, Ben Rowe, Preston Peltier, Jay Fogleman, and Joey Doiron. While awards are currently still being finalized, the champion will once again receive a one-of-a-kind championship trophy featuring the American Bald Eagle. Additional awards will be announced at a later date.

"Ten years ago, with our presence across the Eastern Seaboard and Canada, we felt the time was right to crown Super Late Model racing's true National champion," said PASS President Tom Mayberry. "We're very happy to be able to announce the PASS National Championship schedule for 2017 at such an early date. These events exemplify what's great about short track racing and we feel each of them will attract the best Super Late Model drivers from across the continent. We're also very happy to crown the 2017 PASS National Champion at the 44^th Annual Oxford 250 for the first time in history. It's just another layer added to make this great race even better."

The PASS National Championship Series, along with the 2017 PASS South championship season, gets underway in just over two months with the Winter Meltdown at the South Carolina Clash at Dillon Motor Speedway in South Carolina on February 4. Fittingly on Super Bowl weekend, fans will get to see drivers from across the spectrum of short track racing as the PASS Super Late Models will race for 200 laps and $6,000 to win, plus a major event for the Dillon Motor Speedway Late Models as part of the Winter Meltdown at the South Carolina Clash.

From Dillon Motor Speedway in February, it is back to one of the most traditional stops in the south as PASS returns to Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, NC for the first time since 2014. The 10^th Running of the Orange Blossom Special on March 25 will see the PASS tour tackle the high banks for 150 laps. Orange County Speedway has been made famous for featuring three wide racing on its ultra-high banks.

Race three of the 2017 PASS National Championship Series will be the first of the year in New England and will be contested at one of the fastest tracks in the country. The PASS Super Late Models will compete for 75 laps at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Connecticut as part of the annual Icebreaker weekend April 1-2, along with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour. PASS made a success return to Thompson Speedway last year in an event won by Garrett Hall. The Icebreaker will also once again double as the PASS North Super Late Model championship season opener.

The PASS National Championship Series will then head back south to the legendary Hickory Motor Speedway in North Carolina onApril 15. The 12^th Annual Easter Bunny 150 will continue in 2017 as one of short track racing's biggest events of the Spring. Since veteran Mike Rowe won the first Easter Bunny 150 back in 2006 to Ben Rowe winning the most recent edition last year, Hickory Motor Speedway's hallowed victory lane has been cherished by every Super Late Model driver that has followed in his their tire tracks.

Next up, the PASS National Championship Series will conclude a busy month of April at the Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, ME. The Beech Ridge 300 on April 29 is always a favorite for both fans and competitors and this year's contest will be no different.

The final race on the 2017 PASS National Championship Series will be at perhaps the most legendary of all short track races. The 44^th Annual Oxford 250 at Maine's Oxford Plains Speedway on August 27 will continue a tradition that started in 1974 and has seen such winners as Butch Lindley, Geoff Bodine, Junior Hanley, Ricky Craven, Kevin Harvick, and Kyle Busch. And, with one of the richest purses in all of Super Late Model racing, the Oxford 250 should once again attract North America's best drivers, all competing for the $25,000 winner's share. This year winner, Pelham, NH's Wayne Helliwell, Jr., bested over 60 other drivers to claim nearly $30,000 for his first win in the prestigious race.

The 2017 PASS North Super Late Model schedule will be announced in the next 7-10 days awaiting the confirmation of dates from two tracks. The final date for the PASS South Super Late Model schedule will also be announced in the coming days.

WALPOLE, N.H. – Even though the 2016 Granite State Pro Stock Series season finished just a few weeks ago at New London-Waterford Speedbowl, the GSPSS is already looking ahead to the 2017 campaign.

And with that, the series is proud to announce the first scheduled race for next season at Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, Mass. The inaugural Seekonk 100 will take place on Saturday night June 24, 2017.

"We are extremely happy to be able to work with Seekonk Speedway to bring the GSPSS there for the 2017 season," GSPSS president Mike Parks said. "Seekonk is the home of weekly Super Late Model racing in Southern New England. By adding the GSPSS to the schedule, it has the making of a super event. We have been talking to them for two years and we feel the timing is correct for 2017."

The stop at Seekonk will see a mix of the top talent of the GSPSS along with the weekly drivers of the Seekonk NASCAR Division I Pro Stock class. Although the race will not be a Seekonk points championship race, multiple drivers will be expected to come out and challenge those regulars of the GSPSS.

"I think the GSPSS is a good series with plenty of competition. I think this will give fans a good race with some Seekonk regulars and maybe some other stars of the PASS and GSPSS," four-time Seekonk Pro Stock champion David Darling said. 

"We ran the New London-Waterford race this season and all the officials and the whole series are very nice and very accommodating. With the GSPSS running the same tire we do and being more of a budget conscious tour, it allows us Seekonk regulars to be competitive without having a huge learning curve of a different tire," Darling said. 

Seekonk will be entering their 72nd season of racing in 2017 and they are also excited to welcome the GSPSS into town in June. The GSPSS joins the Modified Touring Series as outside divisions invading the track in that month.

"Seekonk Speedway is excited to bring in a tour that enjoys building supporting relationships with the tracks that they run at," Ed St. Germain of Seekonk Speedway said. "The GSPSS drivers have been great every time they have raced at any of the Seekonk races and we look forward to seeing our drivers competing with them on their home track."

Much like Darling does, Seekonk believes their weekly competitors will be able to give the GSPSS stars a run for their money.

"We have many drivers who match up well with any Pro Stock tour. The management of the GSPSS made it an easy call to book a date with them this year and hopefully with its success we can be an annual stop on the GSPSS tour," St. Germain said. 

This date is just the first of many that will be announced for the 2017 season during the winter months. It should be noted that the 2016 GSPSS season banquet will take place on Saturday Feb. 4 at the Best Western Executive Court Banquet Facility in Manchester, N.H.

"Spring Green" returns; all-new event coming on Vermont 200 Weekend

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – The traveling stock car stars of the American-Canadian Tour (ACT) will return to the Asphalt Track at Devil's Bowl Speedway twice in 2017. Having just completed its 25^th season, one of the premier Late Model racing series in North America will battle in a pair of exciting events at the fast Vermont half-mile that has become a favorite of drivers and fans alike.

With ACT recently releasing its 2017 championship schedule, the Rutland County facility finds itself as the third and ninth stops on the series' diverse 10-race calendar.

Fresh off its 50^th season in 2016, Devil's Bowl will welcome the return of ACT's historic "Spring Green" event on the afternoon of Sunday, May 7. In keeping with a tradition spanning 43 years that started at the former Catamount Stadium, the race distance will correspond with the year: 117 laps for the year 2017. The Spring Green was previously held at Devil's Bowl in 2011-14, won twice each by former ACT Late Model Tour champions Brian Hoar and Wayne Helliwell Jr.

An all-new ACT race will be held at Devil's Bowl Speedway on Sunday, September 10 during the traditional "Vermont 200 Weekend" event. While details for the race's format are still in the planning stages, the event is certain to provide a new flavor of excitement for the must-see year-end show. Specifics will be announced soon.

Devil's Bowl Speedway has hosted a total of seven ACT Late Model Tour events since 2011 and has proven to be pivotal in the championship battle. The winner of every ACT race at the track has gone on to win the Tour's championship later that year: Hoar in 2011; Helliwell in 2012, 2013 (twice), and 2015; Joey Polewarczyk Jr. in 2014; and Nick Sweet in 2016.

"We're thrilled to have ACT back at Devil's Bowl twice in 2017, and it has been great working with Tom Curley this fall," Devil's Bowl promoter Mike Bruno said. "Our fans have really supported the ACT Late Models, so we're looking forward to bringing back some old traditions for them with the Spring Green 117 in May and starting new some new traditions in September."

In addition to Devil's Bowl, the ACT Late Model Tour will also visit Thunder Road in Barre, Vt., Lee USA Speedway and White Mountain Motorsports Park in New Hampshire, Seekonk Speedway on the Massachusetts seacoast, Maine's Beech Ridge Motor Speedway, and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park in Connecticut.

Six Drivers Earn NASCAR Touring Series Most Popular Driver Awards

Nearly 47,000 Votes Cast World-Wide For Fan Favorites

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Nov. 23, 2016) — The fans have spoken.

More than 47,000 votes were cast world-wide for the 2016 NASCAR touring series' Most Popular Driver Awards and six drivers have earned the honor of fan favorite.

The 2016 Most Popular Driver Award winners are:

• Austin Theriault (Fort Kent, Maine), NASCAR K&N Pro Series East
• Salvatore Iovino (Los Angeles), NASCAR K&N Pro Series West
• Melissa Fifield (Wakefield, N.H.), NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour
• Trey Hutchens (Lexington, N.C.), NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour
• Jason Hathaway (St. Thomas, Ont.), NASCAR Pinty's Series
• Alon Day (Ashdod, Israel), NASCAR Whelen Euro Series

The list includes four repeat winners – Melissa Fifield, Trey Hutchens, Jason Hathaway and Alon Day.

There was also nearly an historic first: Hutchens, who competed in both the K&N Pro Series East and Whelen Southern Modified Tour this year, finished a close second to Theriault in the K&N Pro East voting while taking the top honors in the Whelen Southern Modified Tour for the second straight year.

Fifield won the award for the third straight season in the Whelen Modified Tour.

Iovino emerged in front in a close three-way battle in the K&N Pro West with Jesse Iwuji and series champion Todd Gilliland.

Hathaway, who announced he was retiring from full-time competition after racing in all 121 events in series history, ran away with the award in the Pinty's Series.

Day, who was selected to the NASCAR Next program as one of the sport's rising stars, won the award for the second consecutive season.

The award was open to any driver who competed in at last half of the races in their respective series.

Monday, Elliott Sadler (NASCAR XFINITY Series) and Tyler Reddick (NASCAR Camping World Truck Series) received the Most Popular Driver Award for their respective series in their awards gala at the Loews Miami Beach Hotel.

The NASCAR touring series Most Popular Drivers will be recognized on stage as part of the NASCAR Touring Series Night of Champions on Saturday, Dec. 10 at the Charlotte (North Carolina) Convention Center at the NASCAR Hall of Fame.

Une 9e présence à l'Autodrome St-Félicien

Après la confirmation de la présence de l'Autodrome Montmagny Speedway dans la programmation 2017 de la Série Sportsman Québec, il me fait plaisir de vous annoncer qu'une entente est aussi conclue avec l'Autodrome St-Félicien.

Dans les 10 dernières années, les pilotes de la Série Sportsman Qc se sont produits sur le triovale de ½ mille à 8 reprises. C'est donc pour une neuvième saison que la Série sera présente au complexe de sports motorisés de Saint-Félicien.

Avec une programmation diversifiée, les propriétaires Chantales Desrosiers, Yves Pelchat et Éric Bouchard désiraient poursuivre l'entente avec la Série Sportsman Qcau grand plaisir de son président, André Poulin.

La prochaine étape demeure la finalité du calendrier. M. André Poulin, promoteur est présentement en négociation ou à l'écoute de 3 promoteurs de pistes différents intéressés à produire une ou plusieurs courses afin de compléter le calendrier de la saison 2017 de la Série Sportsman Québec et Mini Sportsman. Une ou plusieurs de ces autodromes s'ajouteront dans le but de compléter le calendrier incluant les programmes prévus à l'Autodrome Montmagny et l'Autodrome St-Félicien. Nous sommes confiants que ce calendrier sera répondre à vos attentes.
