After the first couple of attempts to kick-off the new season fell victim to Mother Nature, Peterborough Speedway was finally able to launch its 2018 schedule – Saturday, June 2nd – with the year's first Summer Toonie Night, presented by Pepsi.

 

The hometown Late Models were first to hit the track for feature race action, with Steve Powell and Mark Gordon pacing the field for the 50 lapper. Gordon – who has raced provincially in a number of different divisions throughout his career – took an early lead from his outside front row starting spot, while as many as 5 challengers looked to wrestle the 2nd spot away from Powell. Former track champions Derek Lynch and Dan McHattie – along with previous Autumn Colours Classic victor Chris Mitchell – used the inside line to get around the #72 machine and set-off in pursuit of the leader. Another Late Model championship alumni – Amanda Balson – took over the 5th spot with 7 laps complete. The race's only yellow flag waved just past halfway but even after the pack was re-racked, no one had anything for Gordon. Balson claimed the runner-up position with Lynch, McHattie and James Horner rounding out the top 5.

 

Qualifying heats went to Lynch, Mitchell, McHattie and Mike Wallace.

 

Kent Missons and Tiffany Vandebelt brought the Jiffy Lube Mini Stocks from the staging area for their 20 lap headline dance. Missons – wheeling his bright yellow #10K – took control and held a dominating advantage as he worked through some of the slower cars with a little more than a handful of laps complete. Ember Junkin moved into the runner-up spot was looking to catch the leader when the yellow flag waved for an issue on the back stretch with fewer than 5 laps remaining. Ryan Oosterholt used the restart to challenge the leader, but another yellow flag created a green, white, checkered finish that gave Missons the opening night victory over Oosterholt, Ryan DiBello, Gil Brooks and Ember Junkin in positions 2nd through 5th.

 

Junkin, Oosterholt, DiBello and newcomer Josh Bullen scored heat race wins.

 

Bill O'Hara and Ryan Oosterholt lead the way as the Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Trucks came to the line for their first main event of the year. A yellow flag on the initial start brought the pack back together. At the controls of the machine that captured the 2017 track championship, Oosterholt took the lead on lap 6 and was the class of the field on the way to the checkered flag. Newcomer Jeff Dolley earned the runner-up spot, with Stephen Bierworth, O'Hara and another first-timer – Terri-Anne Whittern – taking 5th.

 

O'Hara and Oosterholt also picked-up preliminary round checkered flags.

 

The Trailers Plus Ontario Legends Series came to the line 26 cars strong, with Miles Tyson and Dave Riopelle showing the way for their 25 lap feature. Tyson took an early lead, with some excellent racing throughout the pack. Invader Alex McCollum – of Phillipsburg, New Jersey – claimed the top spot with 4 laps complete and caught the tail-end of the field a lap later. Peterborough's tricky turn 2 proved to be a problem spot, as yellow flags for single car issues slowed the pace on lap 10 and 13. Another caution flew with just over a handful of circuits remaining, but McCollum was able to hold-off a late race charge by Riopelle in the tune-up for July's Canadian Legends Asphalt Nationals. Matt Haufe, Kevin Foisy and Wes Cuthbertson completed the top 5.

 

Haufe, Foisy, McCollum and Riopelle won the Ontario Legends qualifiers.

 

With 20 laps to settle the score, John Lavalle and reigning track champion Jeremy Kelly introduced the crowd to Bone Stock racing at Peterborough Speedway. Kelly took control of the field early, with his brother Jake moving into 2nd spot. There was action all around Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval, with the leaders catching slower traffic with 6 circuits on the scoreboard. As the backmarkers battled for their own position, the front runners encountered cars running 2 or 3 wide in search for the opening night win. Just as they finished last year's point standings, Jeremy Kelly held-off Sean Kennedy for the checkered flag. Ryan Oosterholt, Chris Tubman and Shawn Solomon rounded-out the fast 5.

 

Bone Stock heat wins went to Tubman, Malcolm 'Pops' MacDonald, Solomon, Oosterholt, Lavalle and Kennedy.

 

All race results are unofficial and subject to scoring review, as well as post-race technical and safety inspection.

 

Bullring Bullet Points: Ryan Oosterholt was a busy driver, seeing action in 3 of the 4 Peterborough Speedway regular racing divisions. The former Mini Stock and 4Fun track champion had a main event win to go along with 2nd and 3rd place feature finishes…Opening night car counts were strong in every division, with over 30 Bone Stock machines in the pits making it necessary to run a last-chance qualifier…The night's 50/50 draw ticket 510825 for $1290 was unclaimed. The person holding that ticket has until midnight Friday, June 8th to contact the track at 705.743.5880 or the amount will be added to the prize awarded Saturday, June 9th.

 

Action at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval continues Saturday, June 9th with the home track Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Late Model and a Super Stock qualifier for the upcoming Canadian Short Track Nationals at Jukasa Motor Speedway. Also on the docket will be the 2018 debut for the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, along with Kid's Rides at intermission. Pit gates open at 2:30, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 5:00 and the first green flag at 6:00.

PLATTSBURGH – Saturday's Unique eCigs Sportsman Modified Series event had top competitors from across the northeastern United States and the provinces of Ottawa and Quebec in Canada battling for the $1,000 first place payout. The winner, however, didn't have to travel that far.
Plattsburgh racing veteran, Bucko Branham collected his second Sportsman Modified win of the season at Airborne Park Speedway on board his After Hours Imaging, Bud Light number 20 machine.
Justin Severance and Jamy Begor brought the field to the first green flag of the 50-lap main event. Begor got the advantage from the outside and would lead until a lap-11 caution for debris. 
Severance would retake the lead on the following restart, but not for long as another yellow flag slowed the pace on lap-16. Branham, who started seventh, would restart next to Severance and drive around to take the lead.
The two traded the lead seven times between lap-16 and lap-44, where Branham would pass Severance for the final time.
The restart on lap-40 provided the greatest action of the race. Branham and Severance would have an addition to their battle, when Nick Heywood looked three-wide on three different occasions between lap-40 and lap-43. Heywood looked to split through the middle of the two drivers, but couldn't get enough grip to sneak through. His car went away in the final laps.
Branham ended up winning by a margin of half a second. Shane Pecore rallied late to get Severance on the final lap for the second spot.
"Justin had the better car tonight, but I drove the wheels off of the car," Branham said. "I'm not too old yet, huh?"
Heywood and Robert Delormier finished in the top five. Positions six through ten went to Patrick Picotin, Chris Cayea, Jerimy Roy, Andrew Buff and Mike Stacey.
Steve Bernier picked up his second victory of the season in the Egglefield Ford 358-Modified feature. Bernier took the lead on lap four and never looked back in the green to checkered feature. 
George Foley, Todd Stone, Matt Woodruff and Chris Raabe completed the top five.
Tylor Terry scored his first win of the season in the Ernie's Discount Tools Super Stock feature. Jim McKiernan and Brent Jarvis completed the podium.
Josh LaPorte became a first-time winner in 2018, as he crossed the line ahead of Zach Wood and Cam Gadue in the Mini-Mod feature.
Shawn Walker remained perfect in the Strictly Stock division with his third consecutive victory. Michael Daniels and Matt Lapan finished in the top three.

WEST HAVEN, Vt. – Devil's Bowl Speedway management is saddened to confirm the passing of stock car racing drivers, Terry Stevenson.

Mr. Stevenson, 62, of Whitehall, N.Y., was competing in a NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Super Stock race at Devil's Bowl Speedway in West Haven, Vt., on the evening of Sunday, May 27, 2018, when he was stricken by cardiac arrest.

With five of 20 laps complete at approximately 8:05 p.m., Mr. Stevenson was driving car slowly around the race track during a yellow flag caution period when his car drifted slowly to the left and lightly brushed the inside retaining wall as it came to a stop.  No other people or vehicles were involved.

First responders from Vergennes Area Rescue Squad and the Devil's Bowl Speedway Safety Team were on site and at the scene promptly.  Mr. Stevenson was unresponsive and was quickly and carefully extricated from his car and transported by ambulance to Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland, Vt., where he was officially pronounced deceased upon arrival.

Terry Stevenson was competing in his first race after more than 20 years away from the sport.  He was previously a top driver at Devil's Bowl Speedway and other area tracks, winning a championship at Devil's Bowl in 1993 in the GT 4-Cylinder division.  He and his family were enthusiastic about coming back "home" to Devil's Bowl, and speedway officials were proud to have him on the driver roster for the 2018 season.

Devil's Bowl Speedway thanks Vergennes Area Rescue Squad and the Devil's Bowl Speedway Safety Team for their professionalism and expedient care for Terry Stevenson. Devil's Bowl Speedway also thanks its dedicated fan base and for its support, and requests that the same continues to be extended to Terry Stevenson's family members and friends.

Unique eCigs Sportsman Series: Take II

 

PLATTSBURGH – The Unique eCigs Sportsman Series is set to take the green flag this weekend at Airborne Park Speedway, after rains forced cancellation of last weekend's event. With back to back rainouts, drivers are eager to get back on the track and it should provide some exciting racing action.

                This series will put the Sportsman Modified drivers on the pedestal and allow the show to be about them. Each series race will be 50-laps in distance and payout $1,000 to the winner. In addition, drivers and teams will be racing for a $6,000 point fund, with $2,000 going to the overall winner at the end of the five events.

                Mohawk International Raceway has a number of top Sportsman Modified competitors that will be looking to challenge the Poirier's True Value Sportsman Modified regulars this coming Saturday. Adding more top runners to what is already a stellar Airborne Sportsman Modified division will surely provide exciting close quarters racing.

                Teams will be drawing for their starting spot upon entering the speedway. The number they draw will determine the heat race starting lineups.

                The event will be a "show up" points event for the Airborne regulars in attendance. Any points accumulated during the event will count towards the final standings after the series finale at Mohawk on September 14. In total, there will be two events run at Airborne and three at Mohawk.

                Saturday will be Volunteer Fire & EMS night presented by Haun Welding and Huntley Trucking. In addition to the Sportsman event, the card will include regular distance events for the Egglefield Ford 358-Modifieds, Ernie's Discount Tools Super Stocks, Mini-Mods and Strictly Stocks.

                Post time for the event is scheduled for 6 p.m. with grandstands opening at 4 p.m. Grandstand admission will be $12 for adults with kids ages 12 and under free of charge.

In baseball, the rule is 3 strikes and you're out. When it came to the 2018 season opening event at Peterborough Speedway, Mother Nature was called out after only a couple of strikes. Following rainouts Saturday, May 19th and Saturday, May 26th, track officials have decided to move to the next event on the calendar and will host the year's first Summer Toonie Night – presented by Pepsi – with $2.00 spectator grandstand admission Saturday, June 2nd. Track owner/promoter J.P. Josiasse says they gave the annual lid-lifter their best shot, but the weather forecast just wouldn't cooperate.

 

"We tried everything we could to give the fans a special night to kick-off the year, but things just didn't work out," Josiasse said. "On the first attempt, we knew early-on that it wasn't going to work out, but for the second try we were a bit more optimistic. There was a chance of showers, but signs pointed to a large window of opportunity to get the show in the books. Teams got a chance to get on the track and run some practice laps before the skies opened-up. It was very disappointing for everyone."

 

Action returns to the venue known as Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval Saturday, June 2nd with the year's first Summer Toonie Night, presented by Pepsi. Spectator grandstand admission will be just $2.00, with the home track Battlefield Equipment Rental Bone Stock, Jiffy Lube Mini Stock, Trent Lakes Complete Plumbing Renegade Truck divisions and a 50 lap main event for the Late Model teams. Also on the show will be the Trailers Plus Ontario Legends and a fan appreciation autograph session at intermission. Pit gates open at 1:30, with the spectator grandstands unlocked at 4:00 and the night's first green flag at 5:00.

 

Looking ahead on the schedule to Saturday, June 9th finds a Super Stock qualifier for the $5,000 to win Canadian Short Track Nationals – Sunday, September 2nd – at Jukasa Motor Speedway. Action will also the Bone Stock, Mini Stock and Late Model classes, along with the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series. Pit gates will open at 2:30, with spectator admission at 5:00 and racing starting at 6:00.

 

Bullring bullet points: A pair of the season's biggest special events are coming up fast. The 100 lap APC Pro Late Model tour stop is scheduled for a Saturday, June 16th green flag, while the Canadian Legends Asphalt Nationals finale checks in Saturday, July 14th. Oxford/Richmond Qualifier Up Next For PASS North At Petty

(RIVER GLADE, NB - April 13th, 2018) - Management at Petty International Raceway is thrilled to announce a partnership with Atlantic Fleet Completion Centre. Atlantic Fleet Completion Centre will be the presenting sponsor for the 150-lap Pro All Stars Series (PASS) event at Petty International Raceway on Saturday, June 2nd. The Petty Raceway Late Model, Westwood Estates Street Stock, Mister Transmission Mini Stock and Leisure Days/CRC RV Bandolero divisions will play support to the Pro All Stars Series.

The Atlantic Fleet Completion Centre 150 for the Pro All Stars Series North Super Late Models marks the first time the Series will visit ¼-mile oval. The race is the seventh event on the North schedule for 2018 and the second of four "Roads to Oxford and Richmond" races on the year. The top five drivers in the Atlantic Fleet Completion Centre 150 will receive a guaranteed starting position at either the 45th Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway (ME) on August 26th or the inaugural Commonwealth Classic at Richmond Raceway (VA) on October 20th.

The Atlantic Fleet Completion Centre 150 also serves as the second of five Bumper to Bumper Petty $5k Pro Stock Challenge (PPSC) races. Announced last week, house points will be kept over the five Pro Stock/Super Late Model events at Petty International Raceway in 2018 and competitors will be able to count their best four events towards the PPSC championship standings.

Allan Curry, General Manager of Atlantic Fleet Completion Centre, has been actively involved in the Maritime motorsports community for decades. Curry is looking forward to the return to Atlantic Canada of the largest sanctioning body of Super Late Model racing in North America.

"Atlantic Fleet Completion Centre is excited to be able to help bring PASS racing to Petty International Raceway," said Curry. "Racing has always been a passion of mine so it was an easy decision when I got the call from Craig McFetridge. Craig, Wayne Smith and all the people involved with Petty International Raceway do so much for this sport and the improvements can be seen in the facility every time you go there.  Atlantic Canada is where we do business, so it makes sense to get involved in events held in all provinces. PASS racing was always checked off on my calendar when it came to Nova Scotia, so this will be a great event no doubt. It is one you will not want to miss!"

From the initial announcement of the event on the 2018 Pro All Stars Series schedule to the addition of the "Roads to Oxford and Richmond" program, race fans and track management have been alike have been counting the days until Saturday, June 2nd.

"Wayne and I have been working to bring PASS to Petty International Raceway for many years and to see this come to fruition is going be big for the greater Moncton and Maritime fan base," said Craig McFetridge, co-owner of the track. Petty International Raceway opens their 2018 season with a double header on the Victoria Day Long Weekend. Friday, May 18th will see the green flag fly on the Atlantic Canadian stock car racing season with action in the Westwood Estates Street Stock, Mister Transmission Mini Stock, Leisure Days/CRC RV Bandolero and Beginner Four Cylinder divisions. The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour will headline the Saturday, May 19th card with the Lucas Oil 150. The MJS and Prime Lift East Coast Mini Stock Tour, Atlantic Modified Tour and Petty Raceway Late Models will play support on the Saturday card.

S & S Racing Launches a Double-Barrelled Open Wheeled Track Attack for 2018

With the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series championship added to his resume after the 2017 campaign, it would be easy to understand why Brad Stevenson is looking forward to another year of action. When the green flag flies to open the 2018 season, the 37-year-old racer from Courtice, Ontario will have a teammate, as Chad Strawn makes his return to the provincial racing wars.

 

After spending the past few seasons helping-out in the team's shop, the former Thunder Car and Open Wheeled Modified speedster will steer an immaculately prepared and nearly identical looking machine along with Stevenson on the Ontario Modifieds Racing Series, with selected OSCAAR Mod starts. Both cars will carry the familiar S & S Racing #77, with Strawn's piece designated as #77C. The pair will make a formidable combination as they head out on the road in search of the next checkered flag. Chad Strawn says he's looking forward to getting back behind the wheel.

 

"Brad and I have always worked well together and I can't wait to put this new car through its paces," said the 32-year-old father of 2 from Newcastle, Ontario. "I'm sure we'll have a bit of a friendly rivalry on the track, but racing as a team will help us focus on the big picture and that's what is most important as we go through the season."

 

Stevenson and Strawn will handle the powerful equipment on raceday, but another talented duo was responsible for getting the cars ready to race. Graham Annis of GTA Race Designs and Graham Flett took each car down to its bare bones and massaged the chassis, before putting the pieces back together. Veteran racer Dan McHattie shared some of his vast chassis knowledge with the team and Mark VanLuven of AVL Signs & Designs put the finishing touch on the vinyl wrap design for each car. Brad Stevenson says it'll be an exciting year and he can't wait to get back to the track.

 

"Just like in our OMRS championship season, these things look fast even sitting still and I'm sure they'll be a favourite with the fans," Brad Stevenson said. "An off-season of hard work by everyone associated with this team has created some top-notch equipment that we're really proud of."

 

In addition to a pair of championship calibre Open Wheeled Modifieds, S & S Racing will also field the #77 Mini Cooper Bone Stock machine – shared by Corey Strawn and his wife Rhonda – in weekly action at Peterborough Speedway and special events at Kawartha Downs & Speedway.

NAPLES, ME (May 25) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry announced today an additional qualifying event for the "Roads To Oxford And Richmond" program.  Now in its fifth year, the groundbreaking "Roads To Oxford And Richmond" concept further expands to give racers another opportunity to get locked into short track asphalt racing's biggest events.  Joining the previously announced events in Maine and Canada, will be the PASS South Super Late Model event at North Carolina's Orange County Speedway on Saturday night, July 21.  The 12th Annual Orange Blossom Special will reward the top five finishers a guaranteed starting spot for either the 45th Annual Oxford 250 in August or the inaugural PASS Commonwealth Classic at Richmond Raceway in October.

The 2017 Oxford 250 saw droves of race fans from across North America and over 60 Super Late Models make the trek to Oxford Plains Speedway in Maine for the chance to win over $25,000.  And beginning this year, racers across several short track disciplines will have the opportunity to race at the Richmond Raceway in Virginia as part of the inaugural PASS Commonwealth Classic, one of the most talked about and anticipated events in years.

This year's program will see the race winners get a guaranteed starting position at full start money for the Oxford 250 or at Richmond.  The remaining top five finishers in each of these PASS events will be guaranteed a starting position for either the Oxford 250 or Richmond at half start money. 

The first event to be featured in the program was the Easter Bunny 150 at North Carolina's Hickory Motor Speedway, a race won by Preston Peltier. The "Roads" continue to an international event next weekend in the Canadian province of New Brunswick, with the series' first trip to Petty International Raceway on June 2.  Then, a special Tuesday night 200 lapper paying $5,000 to win on July 3, will be held at Spud Speedway in Caribou, ME, followed by the newly added event at Orange County Speedway on July 21.  The final race as part of the "Roads To Oxford And Richmond" will be on Sunday, July 29 at Oxford Plains Speedway. 

            Additionally, the top licensed drivers in points from PASS North, PASS South, and the PASS National Championship Series, will have provisionals available, if needed, as long as they have attempted to qualify for every race in their chosen series.  All drivers that receive guaranteed spots through the "Roads To Oxford And Richmond" or via championship points provisionals have to compete in their heat races, qualifying, or in their consolation races, but will not have to compete in the last chances race if they have not already advanced.

Maxime Gauvreau termine 5e en NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil le 20 mai 2018

 

 



Le pilote de la série NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil, Maxime Gauvreau, prenait le départ pour une première participation cette saison au volant de sa voiture Bumper to Bumper, Total, Lacroix Tuning et Carrossier ProColor Beloeil dimanche dernier à l'Autodrome St-Eustache. Avec comme but, rien de moins que la victoire, le jeune pilote de Terrebonne s'était ajouté un peu de pression  pour le programme d'ouverture.

 

Après trois séances d'essai libre, la voiture se comporte relativement bien malgré qu'elle soit très sous-vireuse. L'équipe tente quelques réglages supplémentaires mais la voiture ne semble pas vouloir collaborer. Maxime parvient tout de même à améliorer considérablement les chronos, en signant le 6e meilleur temps dans la 3e séance alors qu'il occupait le 15e rang lors de la première.

Malgré l'acharnement de ses membres d'équipe à améliorer le comportement de la voiture Bumper to Bumper, Total, Lacroix Tuning et Carrossier ProColor Beloeil, rien n'y fait. La stabilité n'est guère mieux. Le pilote ne parviendra pas à terminer parmi les 3 premières position et rallie le fil d'arrivée au 4e rang de sa qualification.

Pour la finale de 50 tours, Maxime prend le départ de la 12e position. Il conduit la voiture avec patience et minutie lors de cette finale afin de ne pas hypothéquer les pneumatiques prématurément. Maxime profite de quelques relances pour éviter de se détacher du reste du peloton et tente à chacune de prendre quelques positions a ses adversaires. Il est impossible pour lui d'attaquer comme il le voudrait mais profites des petites erreurs des autres et réussi à remonter les positions sur la piste.  << La voiture a été sous-vireuse toute la journée. Mon équipe a travaillé très fort pour me donner une voiture compétitive mais malheureusement ce ne fût pas le cas >> de dire le pilote Maxime Gauvreau. << Je suis satisfait quand même de ma position finale et je tiens à remercier mon équipe qui n'ont jamais lâché de la journée.>> d'ajouter Maxime. C'est donc avec une très satisfaisante 5e position que termine la voiture Bumper to Bumper, Total, Lacroix Tuning et Carrossier ProColor Beloeil.

St-Eustache: Mayer et Trépanier avec les gros trophées

L'hiver aura été long, et comme à chaque début de saison, ils auront été nombreux à remplir les gradins de l'Autodrome St-Eustache afin d'assister au premier programme de "Stock-Car" 2018. Si les spectateurs présents furent sans aucun doute ravis du spectacle, il en fut tout autant des Joe Mayer #18 et Dany Trépanier #19, qui y auront signé leurs premières victoires de la saison, respectivement en Nascar Sportsman Lucas Oil, ainsi que dans la "nouvelle" série LMS, CCSC (Championnat Canadien de Stock-Car), anciennement connu sous le nom de, ACT.

Série Nascar Sportsman Lucas Oil:

Joe Mayer, celui qui aura pratiquement été le paratonnerre de la série au cours des dernières saisons, victime de plus d'une malchance et trop souvent trahie par sa mécanique aura en ce début de saison, montré à tous de quel bois il a l'intention de chauffer la fournaise de la présente campagne. En remportant sa vague de qualification, ainsi que la finale de la série reine de l'ASE, le pilote de Blainville marque ce début de saison avec une journée de travail sans failles.

Partant de l'extérieur de la première ligne d'un plateau regroupant 18 voitures, le pilote de la Cadillac CTS #18 n'aura laissé aucune opportunité à ses divers poursuivants, et ce, tout au long des 50 tours de cette épreuve inaugurale de la saison 2018. Résistant d'entré de jeux aux attaques de Patrick Boucher #96, puis survivant à cinq relances, où le pugnace Stéphane Aubin #26 aura à son tour, sans succès, tenté de lui ravir les commandes, c'est au final un autre travailleur acharné en Martin Fauteux #10, qui l'aura suivi au fil d'arrivé. Le "jeune vétéran" Dave Coursol #51, qui fait un retour à la compétition sur le tracé de l'ASE, sera monté sur la dernière marche du podium.

Stéphane Aubin #26, aussi vainqueur de sa qualification, ainsi que Maxime Gauvreau #7, complètent le "Top-5", alors que Steve Lagacé #99, avait quant à lui remporté la troisième préliminaire.

 

Série CCSC: 

Malgré l'absence de trois des principaux ténors de la série, c'est un plus que respectable plateau de 17 pilotes et leurs montures qui lançaient, avec une épreuve de 125 tours, cette toute nouvelle série LMS maintenant connu sous l'appellation CCSC. Si Dany Trépanier #19 impose rapidement le rythme, et domine la première portion de la course, Jonathan Bouvrette #41, au grand plaisir de la foule, pousse la machine, si bien qu'à la mi-course il s'empare des commandes. Le prix d'avoir trop taxé ses pneumatiques à poursuivre le #19 en début d'épreuve aura cependant de lourde conséquence pour le champion en titre. Avec moins de cinq tours à compléter, et face à un retardataire, Bouvrette hésite, ouvre légèrement la porte, et Trépanier reprend la position de tête pour remporter la première épreuve de cette toute nouvelle série. Journée de travail parfaite pour le pilote de Lotbinière qui avait au préalable, aussi remporté sa vague de qualification. Steve Côté #1, qui, malgré de nombreux problèmes avec sa monture tout au long de la journée, termine avec une respectable troisième position, en plus de gagner sa préliminaire. Patrick Cliche #5, ainsi que Pierre-Luc Ouellette #48, complète quant à eux le "Top-5", alors que J.P. Ouimet #59, avait remporté plus tôt les honneurs de la deuxième qualification.

 

Série Nascar Légende Modifiée / Thérien Performance: 

Stéphane Caron #99, double champion en titre, aura montré à tous, et ce, dès le début des hostilités, qu'il n'a aucunement l'intention de facilement laisser aller son titre. Prenant les commandes de son épreuve de 30 passages au premier tour, le pilote de Laval aura mené de bout en bout sur les 24 participants pour finalement l'emporter sous un drapeau jaune. Sébastien Lapolice #11, ainsi que François Verville #56, auront accompagné le champion sur le podium, alors que les Michael Grandmont #77, ainsi que Yannick Thibeault #73, auront quant à eux complété le "Top-5". Plus tôt en journée, Lucien Jr. Campeau #90, Mathieu Gauthier #52, tout comme Lapolice #11, l'avaient emporté lors des qualifications.

 

Série Nascar Sport-Compacte / MRQ:

Mathieu Latreille #34, celui là même qui avait remporté les grands honneurs de l'enduro du mois d'avril, inscrit à sa façon une marque dans le livre des statistiques de l'Autodrome St-Eustache. Deux victoires à son actif en 2018, après un seul programme. Rien de facile pour le pilote de la Honda #34, puisqu'à trois reprises il aura échanger la position de tête avec le #80 de Faucher avant de compléter les 30 passages et coiffer au final, les 17 participants y ayant pris le départ. Simon Lafrance #44, et le champion en titre de la série, Yannick Miron #90, l'ont accompagné sur le podium. La recrue, Frédérick Miron #22, le frère de l'autre, et qui semble avoir tout un coup de volant, ainsi que Gabriel "La Grosse Poule" Faucher #80, qui avait si bien bataillé pour la victoire, doivent se satisfaire d'un respectable "Top-5". Lafrance #44, ainsi que Gabriel Jeannotte #49, l'avaient au préalable emporté lors des qualifications. 

 

Série Mini-Stock / Perry Performance:

Alors que tous les efforts son mis de l'avant afin de réanimer cette série de développement, plusieurs compétiteurs ne semblaient, de toute évidence, pas en mesure de participer à la première épreuve de leur championnat, puisque seulement 8 pilotes et leurs montures se seront présenté sur la ligne de départ de leur course de 25 tours. Dany Pilon #48, lui toutefois était prêt, seul concurent à tourner sous les 21sec en course, victorieux en qualification et ayant mené de bout en bout l'épreuve de sa série, ce dernier annonce déjà ses intentions pour la saison 2018. Patrick Mayo #51, ainsi que Jeffrey Laporte #00 l'ont accompagné sur le podium, alors que les Jason Labrosse #3 et Antony Maillé #25 complètent quant à eux le "Top-5".

 

Prochain rendez-vous "Stock-Car" de l'Autodrome St-Eustache se déroulera le samedi 2 juin, alors que nos trois séries Nascar seront en pistes, tout comme la série de développement "Mini-Stock". PLATTSBURGH – Nick Heywood aced two late race restarts to collect his first win in the Poirier's True Value Sportsman Modified feature at Airborne Park Speedway.

                Heywood, who started in position twelve, made the pass for the lead on the outside of Patrick Picotin on a lap-21 restart. Heywood would drive to a 5 car length lead before a yellow flag slowed the pace on lap-23. With lane choice for the green-white-checkered finish, Heywood selected the outside and worked the cushion to a victory.

                "I was glad to have lane choice," Heywood said. "It was slick down low in the middle of the turns, so I was hoping to get him (Picotin) to spin the tires."

                Picotin held on to the second spot at the finish line. Jamy Begor, Bucko Branham finished in the third and fourth positions.

                Apparent fifth place finisher, Justin Severance failed post-race technical inspection and Lonnie Rivers was placed fifth.

                Steve Bernier collected his first win of the 2018 racing season on board his number 25 machine in the Egglefield Ford 358- Modified division.

                Bernier started second on the grid with the heads-up lineup. Chris Raabe started on point and dropped to the second spot. Todd Stone, Matt Woodruff and Danny Bilodeau completed the top five.

                Shawn Duquette won the Ernie's Discount Tools Super Stock feature event in his first start of the season. Tony Salerno and Metal Man completed the podium, with Michael Wright and Jim McKiernan finishing fourth and fifth, respectively.

                Zach Wood made it back to back victories in the Mini-Mod division. Wood took advantage of his lucky draw at the pit gate and led all the way. Cam Gadue and Josh LaPorte completed the top three.

                Shawn Walker was the only other driver to remain two for two on the season with his win in the Strictly Stock feature. Caleb Tourville and Matthew Lapan finished in the second and third spots.

Après une saison hivernale interminable, le temps est maintenant venu de faire rugir les moteurs sur le circuit ovale de l'Autodrome St-Eustache. Enfin, l'ouverture de la saison NASCAR 2018 est arrivée, et c'est le 20 mai prochain qu'on pourra de nouveau encourager la pléiade de pilotes qui sont fin prêts pour une saison exceptionnelle. Les séries NASCAR locales de l'ASE, Sport Compactes MRQ, Légendes Modifiées Thérien Performance et Sportsman Lucas Oil seront en action pour l'occasion. La nouvelle division de développement, Mini Stock Perry Performance, en sera à ses premiers balbutiements, elle qui remplace la défunte série Challenge 4. Nous aurons également le privilège de recevoir la nouvelle série élite CSCC. Les pilotes du Championnat de Stock Car Canadien pour voitures LMS seront présents à trois reprises cette saison.

NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil

Définitivement la série à suivre cette année pour les amateurs de stock car québécois. Tout d'abord, le départ du dominant champion en titre Steve Côté vers la série CSCC, donne un second souffle aux excellents pilotes qui l'ont pourchassé toute la saison passée. Bien qu'il est été presque invincible l'an dernier, les autres pilotes ne ce sont jamais décourager et en ont profité pour s'améliorer grandement. Si l'été dernier un nom revenait toujours comme gagnant lors des prédictions, cette saison, même Jojo Savard ne se mouillerait pas à parier sur le vainqueur. Une finale de 50 tours est prévue dimanche.

NASCAR Légendes Modifiées Thérien Performance

Beaucoup d'action à prévoir dans cette division toujours spectaculaire. Avec un son unique et une allure particulière, ces voitures de course se démarquent à chacune de leur présence en piste. Figurant parmi les bolides les plus rapides sur le circuit ovale, les voitures NASCAR Légendes Modifiées, capte l'attention des petits comme des grands. Plus d'une vingtaine de pilotes sont attendus pour la finale de 30 tours dimanche.

NASCAR Sport Compacte MRQ

Que nous réservent les pilotes de cette division pour la saison à venir? De nouveaux venus sont attendus tandis que nous pourrions également revoir des visages familiers après quelques années d'absence. Parmi les nouveaux venus, soulignons l'arrivée de Frédérik Ladouceur, fils du multiple champion Steve Ladouceur et petit-fils d'Yves Ladouceur de l'ANCA. Beaucoup d'action et surtout beaucoup d'émotion à prévoir cette saison chez les ''SC''. Une finale de 30 tours est à l'horaire dimanche.

Mini Stock ASE Perry Performance

Retour à la base pour la défunte division Challenge 4 avec une réglementation simplifié et la possibilité de voitures allant jusqu'à 140hp. Intéressé par la série mais pas le temps d'être là pour toutes les courses? Pas de problème, cette série à petit budget vous permet de partager le volant avec un ami car les points amassés sont comptabilisés au numéro de la voiture et non au pilote. Gérant d'estrade, à vos garages, venez nous montrer ce que vous avez dans le ventre! Une première de 25 tours est au programme.

CSCC LMS

Retour en force de l'élite du stock car touring québécois sur la piste de l'ASE à trois reprises en 2018. Le champion Jonathan Bouvrette de Blainville remet son titre en jeu avec la ferme intention de le conserver une autre année. Le champion de la série ACT-Québec 2017 espère également pouvoir repartir avec la première victoire officielle de la nouvelle entité CSCC.
