Hometown heroes night at Airborne

          South Plattsburgh – Airborne Speedway will admit all police, fire, rescue and military personnel with a valid id for free this Saturday, June 26 on “Hometown Heroes” Night presented by Loreman’s, Unifirst, Rent-A-Wreck and Riverside Lanes in Ausable Forks.

 

       Airborne has consistently benefitted from one of largest car counts of any short track in the Northeast. More than 115 race cars comprising five weekly divisions are expected Saturday.

          Nine drivers had top-10 finishes that were their best showing of the season last week including Versatile Trailer Sales Renegade 50 winner Cody Benoit of Milton, VT, Keeseville NAPA Mini-Modified winner CJ LaVair of Gabriels, and Ernies Discount Tools runner-up Matt Woodruff of Bloomingdale.

          July will be a busy month at Airborne. Saturday, July 3 is the not-to-be-missed North Country Fireworks event. The following week, July 10, the American Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Models travel to Plattsburgh for the Spring Green 100 that was rained out in May. On Saturday, July 17, the International SuperModified Association (ISMA) 850 HP winged “Supers” will make their first-ever Airborne appearance.

          Grandstands open Saturday at 4 p.m. Qualifying heats begin at 6 p.m. Admission is $10/adults. Kids (ages 12 and under) admitted free.

          Airborne Speedway located on Broderick Rd just off Rte. 22 one mile south of I-87 exit 36.
