South Plattsburgh – Airborne Speedway promoter Mike Perrotte has posted a $250 reward for the J&S Steel Sportsman driver that can end Robin Wood’s 2011 win streak.

The defending track champion from Plattsburgh has swept all three events this season. Wood’s win last week, aided by a late race restart, came despite the implementation of the track’s handicapping system, which assigned him a starting position deep in the field.

Wood is now tied with his uncle, Bucko Branham, for most Sportsman feature wins from 2002-present (25). His No. 61 is sponsored by Ganienkeh Territorial Bingo, Loreman’s, Daniels Signs and Leland’s Barber Shop. He’s been assured that if he voluntarily starts on the rear this Saturday and wins, he can pocket the bounty money himself.

Branham says he’s planning to assume the racing version of the role of “Dog the Bounty Hunter”. “Robin’s the class of the field right now, but I’m working on it,” he said. “We’ve been experimenting with stuff that hasn’t worked out and we’re going back to the old set-up.”

George Foley of Saranac Lake will try to become the first repeat winner in the Ernie’s Discount Tools Modified division. The Renegades, Mini Modifieds and Bombers will also be in action.

Post time is 6 p.m. Grandstands open at 4 p.m.
