Airborne plans 6 hour Endurance Race

South Plattsburgh, NY – Airborne Speedway will conduct a 6 hour Endurance Race for properly equipped four-cylinder and six-cylinder cars Sunday, September 18 from 12-6 p.m. Teams must consist of a minimum of three drivers and a maximum of six drivers.

 

The car that completes the most laps wins and earns $1,500. Second-place pays $750. There is no minimum or maximum pit stop requirement.

 

Airborne promoter Mike Perrotte stressed that the event is not an Enduro. “It will be run as a race,” Perrotte said. “No unsafe or reckless driving will be tolerated.”

 

Rules are posted on the Airborne web site – www.airborneparkspeedway.com. Entry forms are available through the race track office on Broderick Road in South Plattsburgh, NY – 518-561-3208. Only the first 50 eligible entries will be allowed. Mike Criss of Plattsburgh filed the first entry.

 

All cars must be pre-approved. Inspection hours are Saturday, September 17 12-4 p.m. and Sunday, September 18, 9-11 a.m. A well-fabricated 4 point roll cage is required. DOT –approved street tires only. All glass other than windshield is to be removed. All driver restraint systems shall meet SFI specifications. A five-point harness is considered a minimum restraint system. Six or seven-point systems are highly recommended.

 

Airborne may elect to purchase any vehicle, minus the safety equipment, for $500.
