8 québécois dans le groupe de 28 pilotes.
8 Quebec drivers in the field of 28 drivers.

In the other 50-lap feature, 8 Quebec drivers showed up to battle it up with the American drivers. Quite a show they put up as they sliced thru the field of Americans who were handicapped with 7 inch tires vs 8 inch tires for the Quebec drivers. Local Airborne driver, Bucko Branham, also drove quite a race, also on the 8 inch tires, to win the feature. Stéphane Aubin, Max Pelletier, Jean-Françcois Bouvrette, Martin Goulet, Steve Lagacé, Jocelyn Gagnon, Marc-Antoine Demers and Sébastien Joseph all started at the rear of the 28 car field. It was impressive to see the Quebec racers slice thru to get to the front. Pelletier, Aubin, Bouvrette and Goulet did slightly better. With six laps to go, 5 Quebec drivers were in the top 6. Unfortunately, with two laps to go, under a restart Aubin got together with a lap car... only for Bouvrette to ram him. Night was over for both of them after being so close... They were 3rd and 4th on the track. Max Pelletier gave it all he had to get around leader Bucko Branham, but the later was just too fast for Pelletier. "On the last restart, I had hoped to get up to him, but the carb bogged as we came for the green. I would have done anything to destabilize him for the lead." said Pelletier who finished second. "I loved running on 8 inch tires. It was alot more fun to run on. I gave up a second place in the Championship to go for the win tonight when I adopted the 8 inch tires. I can't wait to do it again" said Branham. Aubin finished the race with a perforated radiator and a broken cenerlink. Bouvrette had right front suspension damage. Lagacé who was running second appears to have ran out of gaz. Demers was involved in an accident. Quebec drivers finished in the following order: Pelletier (2nd), Gagnon (3rd), Joseph (4th), Aubin (-2 laps), Bouvrette (-2 laps), Lagacé, Goulet and Demers. |
