Bonnett headed to Airborne for USA/Canada Limited Late Model Series

For immediate release – Airborne Speedway – March 23, 2012
SOUTH PLATTSBURGH, NY – Jason Bonnett of St. Albans, VT, a past Airborne Speedway Tiger Sportsman champion and the 2010 Bond Auto/WIX Tiger Sportsman Tour champion, will compete in the 2012 USA/Canada Limited Late Model Series.

Bonnett began his career in a Strictly Stock at Airborne in 1997. He most recently raced on the Plattsburgh half-mile last October in a Tiger Sportsman Tour event, which he led for most of the way.

“I love running the new track,” Bonnett said. “I love the feel of it. You can run a line at the top and get in a rhythm. I’ve always considered Airborne my home track. Between my business (Bonnett Welding) and raising a family, weekly racing isn’t an option. The six-race format and the chance to go racing at St-Eustache is a good fit. I’m excited to get back to Airborne and I’m going to try and give the guys a little run for their money.”

The combined purses/point fund of the six-race series exceeds $40,000. Airborne and Autodrome St-Eustache will each host three events. The Series opens at Airborne Saturday, May 12 (50 laps) and culminates with a 125-lap “Shootout” at the 0.4 mile Quebec oval Saturday, Sept 1st.

Bonnett’s No.79 is sponsored by Peoples Trust Company of St. Albans, VT, KBS Accounting, DeSorcie Emegency Products, Gosselin’s Construction, Heald funeral Home and Yipes Auto Accessories. Crew members include Bonnett’s father Ron, Wayne Jaycox, Dan DeSorcie and John Lafayette.

The second event of the USA/Canada Limited Late Model Series is at Autodrome St-Eustache Saturday, May 19.

Airborne’s 59th season opener is set for Sunday, April 29 – 2 p.m.
