Discount Tickets on Sale Friday at Six Toledo-Area Menards Stores

(TOLEDO, Ohio) - Officials from the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) and Menards, Inc. have announced that the Wisconsin-based home improvement retailer has renewed its sponsorship of Toledo Speedway's Menards 200 for the 2012 season.

The Menards 200, scheduled for Sunday, May 20, will be the only ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards event on the series' home track this season.

The race, which will have presenting sponsorship from Federated Car Care, will highlight the eighth annual ARCA Fan Fest weekend at Toledo Speedway, a two-day racing spectacular which will also include the ARCA Truck Series Grogan's Towne 50 on Saturday, May 19. A fan-interactive festival - featuring numerous interactive displays and options for race fans of all ages - will be held on the speedway property both days.

Fans can "Save Big Money at Menards," as six Ohio Menards locations will offer advance sale tickets for the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at a 40 percent discount off of the at-track race day price. Starting tomorrow - Friday, April 6 - customers at three Menards stores in Toledo - Alexis Rd., Airport Hwy., and Oregon - and stores in Defiance, Findlay, and Sandusky can purchase race tickets for $15 each, a $10 savings from the May 20 at-track price.

"Menards remains a very important strategic marketing partner, not only for Toledo Speedway, but for the entire ARCA Racing Series," said Mark Gundrum, vice president of business development and corporate partnerships for ARCA. "We're excited to begin another season of big savings at Menards stores with the Menards 200 presented by Federated Car Care at ARCA's home track on May 20."

SPEED will televise the race, which is scheduled to take the green flag at 2 p.m. All practice and Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell activity will take place the day before, with practices starting at 11:45 a.m. and 1 p.m., and qualifying at 3:30 p.m.

On race day, every ARCA Racing Series driver in the starting field will sign autographs on the track from noon-1 p.m.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 28 states since its inception. The series has tested the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, visiting tracks ranging from 0.4 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course in its most recent season. This year, the series visited Alabama's Mobile International Speedway for the first time. In June, the first event at Minnesota's Elko Speedway will give ARCA a race in a 29th state.

Founded by John and Mildred Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Closing in on completing its sixth decade after hundreds of thousands of miles of racing, ARCA administers over 100 race events each season in three professional touring series and local weekly events.
