Avenger and the "Higher Education" headed to Airborne

The Monster Truck line-up is headlined by the Avenger, a two-time Monster Jam Freestyle World Champion. Driven by Jim Koehler, Avenger features a 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air body, stands 10 feet tall, weighs 9,500 lbs and is powered by a blown 575 Chevrolet Big Block engine that puts out 1,800 HP. The “Higher Education” Monster Truck has been a favorite of kids of all ages since its creation by Mike Vaters, a seven-time United States Hot Rod Association (USHRA) Thunder Nationals champion, a six-time Canadian Monster Spectacular champion and the 2010 and 2011 Monster Truck Promoter of the Year. “Everybody has experienced a school bus one way or another,” Vaters said. “The Cool Bus is handcrafted at 3/4 scale. It has a Ford Big Block 540 C.I. engine and a flat nose. You wouldn’t think it would fly, but it sure can.” Other confirmed entries for the Monster Truck competition, presented by Precision Auto Collision, Pepsi, Della Auto Group and ETS Staffing Inc. are the Black Stallion, Iron Warrior and Brutus. The Monster Truck event includes an Extreme FMX rider jumping 60-foot gaps in the air from steel ramp to ramp, Supercross Motorcycle jumps and a Jet 4-Wheeler powered by a GE T-58-3 jet propulsion engine that produces 25-foot flames. The powerful jet thrust engine will burn a junk car to the ground. Admission is adults/$17, kids ages 6-12/$5, ages five and under admitted free. Fans with ticket stubs from Saturday night’s stock car races receive a $2 off per ticket. No advance ticket sales.
