MICKS POSTS DISAPPOINTNG 21ST PLACE FINISH AT CIRCUIT ICAR

   For Immediate Release

Montreal, Quebec, Sunday June 3, 2012:  Kerry Micks driver of the Leland Industries/Beyond Digital Imaging Ford Fusion lined up for the Lucas Oil Grand Prix in fourth and finished a disappointing 21st today at Circuit ICAR in Mirabel, Quebec.

In practice on Saturday, Micks took to the 16 turn, 2.113 mile Circuit ICAR track in the rain and after two sessions was posted third quickest.  Five of the 29 registered cars elected not to go on track for practice and elected to wait for qualifying later in the day.

Due to the continuing rain showers NASCAR elected to cancel qualifying and start the race based on the 2011 point standings.  Micks would line up for the 30 lap main event in the fourth starting position as a result of his fourth place finish in the 2011 standings.

Micks would quickly put the #02 Leland Industries/Beyond Digital Imaging Ford Fusion into the second spot.  On a restart at lap 7 Micks got tagged from behind and the ensuing spin would have several other cars piling into his #02 Ford Fusion.  Micks then had to bring his Ford to pit road for repairs.  Superficial damage was detected and after making several pit stops Micks was back on track and making passes to get him back to the front.  A lap 27 caution would give Micks the free pass moving him back onto the lead lap but it was too late to avoid a 21st place finish.

“We had one of the cars to beat today,” said Micks.  “We were definitely good enough to be on the podium.  I don’t know why we got tagged in the rear on the restart but it put an end to what could have been a great day for this Leland/BDI team.”

The ICAR Lucas Oil Grand Prix presented by Budweiser will be aired on TSN on Sat. June 16 at 12:30 p.m.

The next event for the Micks Motorsports team will be at the Speedway at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park on Sat. June 16th where Mark Dilley will take over the reigns of the #02 Ford Fusion for the first of seven oval events.
