A Weekend of Fun at Delaware Speedway

June 14, 2012

There is lots going on at Delaware Speedway this weekend including free camping, toonie hotdog deals, family fun passes, and of course the best racing around!

Friday Night (June 15): A special travelling series, the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup will be on hand for the Tirecraft 100 sponsored by Auto Trim Design of London.  The series carries a lot of history at Delaware Speedway as many of the vehicles are similar to the CASCAR Sportsman-type cars of season’s past.  A number of Delaware regulars have rides for the race including FT Garage Late Model driver Jay Doerr (#43) of London, who won the series opener at Varney Speedway.  There will also be an unveiling of a new tribute vehicle by the Canadian Heroes Race Team.

The Chase for the Championship moves into round two for our hometown Coca-Cola Super Stocks and Demar Aggregates Trucks.  Gary Adriaensen (#55) of London won the truck feature race last week and Steve Smith (#84) of Arkona took the win in the Super Stocks.

Saturday Night (June 16): 7:00 pm is when the action hits the track on Saturday.  David McCullough (#39) of Glencoe may have dominated the first GAW Recycling Enduro race of the year back on May 26, but struggled in last Friday’s Enduro Challenge (though it was not all bad news for the McCullough family with David’s brother taking the win in the event).  David is the defending winner coming into the event but will face stiff competition from drivers hungry to get themselves to the top of the standings.  The Bone Stock Chaos Cars will also be on track.  The first race was won by Jordan Morris (#73) of London in his Bone Stock cavalier which was put together for less than $1,000.  His car will be on display on Friday night at the track.

Family Fun Passes:  the best value in local family fun is available at all events this weekend, Friday night at 8:00 pm with the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup and Saturday with the GAW Recycling Enduro & Bone Stocks at 7:00 pm.  Family passes can be purchased for $32 for two adults and up to four kids age 16 and under, or $16 for one adult and up to two kids age 16 and under.

Toonie Hot Dogs: Toonie hotdogs will be available at the track on Friday night from 6-7 pm.  Get here early, catch practice and enjoy the best hotdogs around!

Camping: is free of charge behind the back straight this weekend.
