Déry, Laperle Faceoff For the Title

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                                            ACT-091412-78

Waterbury, VT - When the checkered flag drops this Sunday, September 16 at Autodrome St-Eustache, a Champion of the Série ACT Castrol Series will be crowned. The epic championship battle has morphed into a two-car war between defending Champion Patrick Laperle and top talent Jean-Francois Déry who will put everything on the line in hopes of a title this weekend.

Déry started the year off in style with a pair of third place finishes in the first two events, but a stray rock at Riverside Speedway left him with a 24th place finish, and dropped him from the point lead down to sixth. Laperle suffered transmission problems in the second event of the year, leaving both teams behind the eight ball in the early going.

But Déry and Laperle refused to be pushed aside. Laperle finished outside of the podium only twice for the rest of the season after his hard luck – Déry only once. With three wins apiece, and top fives in nearly every event, it all comes down to a 30-point lead for Laperle heading into Autodrome St Eustache’s Série ACT Castrol Finale this Sunday, September 16.

Laperle is a two-time Série ACT Castrol Champion, as well as an American Canadian Tour Champion. For Déry, it would be his first championship.

“I think we’ve got a good chance if we can get some luck,” said Laperle, referring to mechanical failures in the first half of the season. “Déry is very good, and you just never know what can happen in a race. If the car stays together, we have a good shot,” he finished.

Dery is hungry to say the least.

“Laperle is very strong. I cannot decide where he will finish, but I will do my job to win the race. I am ready to fight for this championship,” said Dery. When asked about his relationship with Laperle, his answer was simple: “He is not my best friend.”

The Série ACT Castrol finale at St Eustache (QC) starts this Sunday, September 16. Post time is 1:00pm.
