Shelby Mills Finds a Saturday Night Full Fendered Fight the Perfect Prescription

Whether she's fighting the flu, battling a bug, combating a cold or feeling fit as a fiddle, Shelby Mills says the best medicine in the world is climbing in behind the controls of her Comp 4/Mini Stock machine and heading into weekly battle at Brighton Speedway.
The 22 year old from Rossmore, Ontario – who works as an RPN at Lennox and Addington County General Hospital – has been spending a lot of time in the garage, fine-tuning the car that finished 6th in the 2013 point chase and then 4th in last year's hunt. Even though she races for the fun of it, Mills says she's always looking for a little more.
"We've had a great couple of seasons, but every racer out there wants to be better," admitted the driver. "Whether that means picking-up another qualifying heat win or finishing higher in the main event running order, the team of Justin Ramsay, Tyler French and Adam Chapman is working with me toward the same goal and it's worth every bit of effort and hard work that it'll take to get me there. I want people to take notice of what we're doing every time we take to the track."
After getting her start in the Stinger division, Shelby Mills – who enjoys 4 wheeling, snowmobiling, watersports and attending music festivals in her time away from the track – is looking forward to the possibility of running a Canadian Modified on a limited basis once Brighton's 2015 schedule gets rolling on May 2nd. She sees the opportunity to try the different class as a chance to get some additional experience behind the wheel.
Mills – whose equipment carries #78 as a permanent reminder of her first speeding ticket – has raced at Brighton and Brockville Speedways and speaks of a tow to Cornwall Motor Speedway as an event on her competition 'bucket list'. As a fan, she'd like to travel to Charlotte, North Carolina for a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series event and is excited that her favourite driver – World of Outlaws Late Model standout Tim McCreadie – will be racing at the local 3rd of a mile oval again this summer.
"I think you can learn a lot from watching a more experienced driver race a track you're familiar with," said the driver who turned the fastest Comp 4/Mini Stock lap in 2012 and 2014, along with being named winner of the Best Appearing Car award in 2013 and 2014 voting. "I like seeing some of the other divisions on the track and paying attention to the lines they're using. I can make some mental notes and try it out when it's my turn."
