Linc Brown Faces a Busy Stretch on the APC Pro Late Model Series Tour

Every once in a while, a driver will face the challenge of adjusting to a track where they've never raced before. Friday, June 26th that was the task set out before Colborne, Ontario's Linc Brown as the APC Pro Late Model Series visited Delaware Speedway as part of their inaugural tour. The veteran runner knew it would take some time to adjust to the legendary Southwestern Ontario speedplant.

Arriving at the track late, Brown missed the first practice session and that put the team behind schedule for nearly the entire day. Needing a provisional to crack the starting field, the #99 Dodge Charger was working its way through the field when the car slipped in some oil and made contact with the wall, damaging a rocker panel. The crew also received a penalty for working on the car during the red flag period.

"It was a tough outing all around, but that will happen from time-to-time," said the driver. "There were 39 drivers looking for a spot in a race that would only start 32 teams. It wasn't our best effort, but we were able to race while some others loaded-up and went home. I've always tried to see the glass as being half-full and coming away with an 18th place finish on a difficult day is something to build-on."

With the Canada Day Invitational on the schedule for Wednesday, July 1st at Flamboro Speedway, Linc Brown and his crew were faced with some late hours in the shop to get the car ready for the next race. Unlike the Delaware event less than a week earlier, 27 were on hand and everyone made the show. Brown had a solid qualifying effort and was running well when a flat tire changed his day.

"I could tell the tire was going down, but there had been a number of caution flags early in the going," admitted Brown. "I stayed on the track as long as I could, hoping for another yellow but we had to pit and would-up losing a handful of laps getting it changed. The car was running great and we managed to get the lucky dog free pass on a few subsequent yellow flags, but we were never able to get back with the leaders."

After running toward the front of the pack and challenging some of the top names on the tour during the opening 5th of the show, Brown could only muster an 16thplace finish when the checkered flag fell. Not the run the team was looking for, but they'll look to rebound at the next event on the schedule.

"We're racing well at every event and seem to have the speed once the green flag waves," said Brown. "We've often gained spots on the restarts and run well. All that's missing is a bit of racing luck to turn things around."

Currently 17th in the standings, next on the agenda for the #99 Kawartha Metals Corporation, Don Butt Auto Body, Belleville Transmission & Auto Service, Mayhew Graphics, Rousseau Publications, Milner Financial Planners & Insurance Brokers and Clarke Motorsports Communications Late Model team is Saturday, July 18th at Peterborough Speedway.
