The 2016 season opener at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval isn't scheduled to take the green flag until Saturday, May 21st but a team of staff and officials is working hard behind the scenes as Peterborough Speedway plans for a series of promotional events.

An early look at the calendar of events has been posted online for a couple of months, but these upcoming displays – starting with the annual Motorama Custom Car and Motorsports Expo, March 11th to 13th at the International Centre in Toronto – are a chance for fans to pick-up their own copy and to talk with speedway reps about the new schedule. Track owner and promoter J.P. Josiasse says that everyone loves the opportunity to do a little bench racing.

"We've been putting in some long hours since the final checkered flag of the Autumn Colours Classic and everyone is looking forward to getting the new season underway," said Josiasse. "Motorama is a continuation of the show that began as the Canadian Motorsports Expo and Peterborough Speedway is proud to have been a participant since the very first year."

Fans can also meet the track promotional team at the 38th annual Peterborough Home, Cottage and Country Show April 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the Evinrude Centre and April 17th through 24th at the Lindsay Square Mall, on Kent Street West in Lindsay. Riding the momentum of several strong seasons, the 2016 campaign at Canada's Toughest 3rd of a Mile Paved Oval has the potential to be one of the best in years.

"Our car counts are stronger than ever and we have new drivers and updated equipment in nearly every class," said Josiasse. "On track, fans are seeing some exciting action every week and providing quality family entertainment is what Peterborough Speedway is all about. We're committed to giving everyone the best value for their money every time they walk through the gate."

Peterborough Speedway's 2016 calendar gets underway with the annual season opener – featuring free spectator grandstand admission – Saturday, May 21st.
