DONALD THEETGE TO RACE IN THE NASCAR PINTY'S SERIES IN 2017

Theetge to Drive a 22 Racing Entry in Seven Oval Events

March 15, 2017, Milverton, ON:  Scott Steckly and 22 Racing are pleased to announce today that Quebec racing veteran Donald Theetge has formed a new association with their team for the 2017 NASCAR Pintys Series season. Together they will participate in the series championship. Theetge will take over the wheel for seven races on the oval tracks. They will reveal later this month the driver that will compete for the team in the road course events.

"Donald is not new to stock car racing in Canada. He is a champion and a fierce competitor and we are thrilled to have him drive cars out of our 22 Racing stable," said team owner Scott Steckly.  "Donald brings a lot to our program and we look forward to adding more wins to our team resume with him."

This is not Theetges first partnership with Scott Steckly and 22 Racing. Last year they teamed up for the Vallée-Jonction, Autodrome Chaudiere race where he qualified 5th in his first NASCAR Pinty's Series race. Theetge went on to finish 4th after starting at the rear of the field due to a pre-race unapproved technical infraction.

They continued their association for the second time at the season ending event at Kawartha Speedway. This time, Theetge achieved a personal record in NASCAR, qualifying in first place. Prior to an unexpected trip to the pits for repairs he led the field for the first 60 laps and recovered to finish the race. His pole qualifying position made him the second oldest driver in the series to qualify at the front of a NASCAR Pintys Series field.

In 2017, at the age of 50 years old, Theetge wishes to be the oldest driver who wins a race in the NASCR Pinty's Series before retiring from his career as a driver.  Don Thomson is the record holder, winning at the age of 48 year, 9 months. With Steckly's 22 Racing Team, who also field cars for Alex Tagliani, Theetge is confident he can achieve his goal of climbing to the top step of the podium. His trust in the 22 Racing Team is the only reason why he decided to compete this year in this highly competitive championship.

"Scott Steckly and his team are professional and have a lot of experience in this domain. With his cousin and crew chief, Randy Steckly, they won 4 championships in 8 years. it is an honor for me to race next to them", says Donald Theetge.  "I am thankful of this chance to be part of Scott Steckly's 22 Racing team".

The NASCAR Pintys Series is made up of 13 events across Canada from Edmonton, AB to Antigonish, NS. It is a mix of ovals, road and street course circuits with television coverage on TSN and RDS in Quebec.
