DIRTcar Racing Penalty:

CONCORD, N.C. — June 30, 2017 — World Racing Group has announced penalties in DIRTcar Racing. Per the Series rulebooks and the integrity of the sport, such infractions shall be announced. Members in good standing have the right to appeal the decision to the World Racing Group Appeals Commission as provided in Section 12 of the General Rules and Specifications.

On June 10, 2017 a protest was filed for an engine inspection on the Sportsman car of Joey Scarborough. The engine was pulled from the car and brought to Hunt's Machine in Schenectady NY at which time authorized DIRTcar technical inspector Ed Brassmeister proceeded to inspect the engine. Upon taking the intake off the motor he found that the intake gasket was not the correct gasket indicating that the motor had been tampered with.

Scarborough has been suspended one year from all DIRTcar tracks and/or events effective 6/10/2017 (Competitor may apply for re instatement 6/10/2017.), Loss of points and Earnings from 6/10/2017 event and issued a $3,500.00 fine or loss of motor to be paid before reinstatement to DIRTcar.

Scarborough, a DIRTcar Racing member in good standing filed an appeal with the World Racing Group appeal panel. The appeal was heard on June 23.
