CONSTANCE NUNES FROM THE NETFLIX
SHOW CAR MASTERS: RUST TO RICHES
TO APPEAR AT MOTORAMA

March 13, 14 & 15, 2020 at Toronto's International Centre

TORONTO, ON // MARCH 9, 2020 • Constance Nunes, one of the stars of the Netflix TV show CAR MASTERS: Rust to Riches will be at the Motorama Custom Car & Motorsports Expo Saturday and Sunday (March 14 & 15). An engine specialist who grew up hanging around and working at her father's garage in southern California, Nunes also has a passion for racing which she acquired at racetracks in the area, while cheering on her dad.

With more than 15 years experience in the automotive industry, Nunes is the lead mechanic at Gotham Garagewhere they build unique, specialty cars for the Netflix original series, which recently completed shooting its second season. It begins airing in Canada on March 27.

In addition to her TV show, Nunes also has a long resume working for some of the biggest companies in the automotive industry, in commercials and at trade shows like SEMA (Las Vegas) and the Performance Racing Industry show (Indianapolis). Last year, she made history by being the first woman to be featured in one of Edelbrock's national television commercials.

Like her father, Ernie, Constance has a passion for racing and she's competed in several high-profile events including Targa Trophy and The Gumball 3000 Rally.

"My dad had a car shop when I was little – and he still has it to this day. He grew up building cars and drag racing, so I basically spent my childhood around cars and at the dragstrip. So, I always pictured myself doing what he did. Although I thought I'd be more 'behind the wheel' than it ended up being. But while I focussed on building, early on, I've recently had an opportunity to do more racing. I've always loved driving fast cars and technical driving. And lately, I've gotten into off-road racing a bit more."

Nunes is known for specializing in classic and hot rod restorations. And she has a special place in her heart for classic Mustangs. Her personal favourite is a 1964.5 she calls 'Babystang.' She's owned and worked on the car for 15 years. Babystang is regularly featured on Constance's Instagram feed (constance_nunes), which has over 405,000 followers.

One of her motivations is encouraging and inspiring young builders and automotive enthusiasts – especially female ones – to follow their passion as far as it takes them, whether that's a lifelong hobby or a career. She also hopes to serve as an example that people don't have to limit themselves to 'one lane' within the industry. Similarly, Constance enjoys breaking the mold in terms of being a hard-working mechanic who is also ultra-feminine.

"I'm really looking forward to coming to Toronto for Motorama," said Nunes. "CAR MASTERS: Rust to Riches is on Netflix in Canada so I know a lot of people are familiar with the show. I was in Canada once a long time ago, but I've never been to Toronto."

At Motorama, Constance will be participating in a number of different activities. She'll be meeting with car enthusiasts and fans at various booth locations around the show, on Saturday and Sunday. She'll also be taking part in on-stage discussions and awards presentations and participating in the VIP Meet & Greet Sessions on Saturday and Sunday, in Room #102 in Hall 1, along with Chip Foose, JF Launier, Grant Schwartz and artist Ron Gibbs.
