INDIANAPOLIS (June 21, 2011) – In reference to no specific IZOD IndyCar Series driver, Alex Tagliani is looking to change the crowd he hangs with during the Iowa Corn Indy 250 Saturday night at Iowa Speedway in Newton.

Last weekend, Tagliani didn’t like the company he was keeping in Milwaukee. He wasn’t running with the cool crowd, so to speak, and he didn’t like that. In practice, in qualifying and in the race, Tagliani didn’t fit in. He loves the fast crowd.

Sitting in the top-10 in the IndyCar Series points chase and having won two poles this year, including the prestigious Indy 500 pole, Tagliani is used to hanging with the fast crowd in 2011.

The driver knows that the best way to fit in with the fast crowd is to bring a hot rod to the party, and that’s what the Sam Schmidt Motorsports (SSM) crew will be taking to Iowa Speedway for Tagliani. The No. 77 Bowers & Wilkins Dallara/Honda/Firestone racecar “Tag” will drive in Sunday’s Iowa Corn Indy 250 is the same car he put on the pole of the 2011 Indy 500 with an average speed of 227.472 mph. He led 20 laps of the 500 with the car.

The Iowa car is also the same one with which Tagliani blistered the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway with a lap of 215.186 mph to claim the pole for the Firestone Twin 275s.

Though the Iowa Speedway .875-mile oval is the shortest on the 2011 schedule, it is a fast track. Its 12- to 14-degree banking in the corners allows for speeds in excess of 180 mph by the IndyCar Series cars.

When the green flag falls Saturday night for the Iowa Corn Indy 250, expect to see Tagliani hanging with the cool kids because he’ll be driving his hot rod to the party.

You’ve raced at Iowa Speedway just once. What are your thoughts on the track?

“Iowa is a track I like very much. We were competitive there last year. We are very excited about going back there this week. I can’t wait because I’ll be back in my normal oval car. I think we have all the chance in the world to be really strong.”

Admittedly, you had a poor performance at Milwaukee last weekend, but you’ve said you are looking forward to going to Iowa. The track there is another short oval like Milwaukee, so why are you looking forward to Iowa so much?

“They’re both short ovals, but the comparison really ends there. Iowa is more banked, so you need more speed out of the car, which is what our normal oval car has. I can’t tell you how much I’m ready to get back to Iowa, especially after the weekend we had at Milwaukee. You just can’t wait to get back on the track when you know something is going to be fast and you can put a bad weekend behind you. It’s a track that demands a lot of speed, and we have it with this car we’ll be using this weekend. It’s going to be a race that will allow us to put Milwaukee behind us.”

Iowa and Milwaukee both fall in the category of short ovals, but they are very different. How do you prepare for Iowa compared to Milwaukee?

“In our particular case, being a new team in 2010, we hadn’t been to Milwaukee as a team before this year, so we were starting with ‘new team syndrome’ there. But going back to Iowa, we had a good car there last year. We qualified well. We missed a couple of things in the race, but we know what we missed, so we’ve got a good handle there. Nick Snyder, who joined us now to engineer the car, was on the winning car last year at Iowa. We feel pretty good going to Iowa. Obviously, don’t count you chickens before they hatch, but we’re looking forward to getting back on the track and back up toward the front in Iowa this weekend.”

Super Séries. étape # 3. c'est au tour du...RPM Speedway !

Samedi soir prochain, sur la piste du RPM Speedway, se tiendra la troisième étape de la Super Séries 2011 chez les Modifiés. Déjà certains pilotes se pointent admirablement au fameux Top-5 et la course au meilleur pilote Modifié ne vient que de débuter. Samedi soir dernier, Gino Clair # 22J a su mener l'épreuve de 100 tours jusqu'à la victoire et ainsi récolter de précieux points menant à la sixième et ultime étape.

Maintenant place au RPM Speedway où certains pilotes s'y sont déjà très bien illustrés; mentionnons les David Hébert, Mario Clair, Claude Brouillard et Pierre Dagenais. Sur ce circuit aux dimensions différentes tous peuvent avoir espoir de remporter la victoire aussi bien les deux voitures # 39 et 39A de Clément et Alan Therrien que celle de Chris Rabe # 01 qui a établi un nouveau record de piste il y a deux semaines au RPM Speedway ainsi que la recrue Luke Whittaker qui ne cesse d'impressionner depuis le début de la présente saison.

Cette troisième étape est cruciale pour les pilotes déjà en tête de liste au classement et certains en profiteront pour augmenter leur avance sur les compétiteurs. Les amateurs sont impatients de voir ce que feront les Kayle Robidoux, Alain Boisvert, Jean Boissonneault, François Bernier, Yan Bussière et Steve Bernard ce samedi 25 juin. Un natif du coin, plus précisément de Yamaska, Jasmin Léveillé # 4K sera t'il en mesure de démontrer tous ses talents à ses amis ?

Un maximum de 24 bolides pourront être en piste pour la finale de 100 tours et certainement que les qualifications auront toute leur importance tout comme la consolation que servira à éliminer les pilotes en trop du chiffre magique de 24.

Jasmin Péloquin promoteur et commanditaire de la série de par son commerce JPS Sports est déjà aux préparatifs de cette soirée qui offrira à tous les amateurs de courses sur terre battue un spectacle des plus impressionnants.

Notons que les cinq premiers au classement cumulatif ont des positions assurées en grande finale ce samedi 25 juin prochain. Pour les amateurs qui n’auraient jamais fréquenté le RPM Speedway, c’est une occasion en OR de découvrir ce site.

*Si disqualification lors de l'inspection, la bourse du pilote ira dans le fond de points de la Super Séries, le montant total du fond de points sera déterminé à la fin de la 6e épreuve à l'Autodrome Granby, le 2 septembre prochain.

Ce samedi au RPM Speedway...3e étape de la Super Séries 2011 !

C’est ce samedi que les amateurs pourront assister à la 3^e étape de la Super Séries 2011 pour la classe Modifiée sur le tracé du RPM Speedway. Au même programme, les Lightning Sprints, les Mini Modifiés et les deux groupes de VTT.

LIGHTNING SPRINTS

Ces bolides nous ont déjà fournis bien des sensations sur le circuit de St-Marcel et des courses folles pour le damier sont monnaie courante. Très bien dirigés par Pierre-Yves Joyal et Stéphane St-Laurent, ces pilotes ont pour mission d’être à la hauteur des attentes partout où ils évoluent et rarement les amateurs sont déçus. Notons les superbes performances de Éric Sundborg dernièrement jumelées à celles des Yves Girard, Normand Hamel ou encore René Couture recrue 2010.

LES MINI MODIFIÉS

Toujours très passionnant de voir ces bolides « scale » poursuivre le leader de la course dans les tournants; ils foncent au meilleur de leur performances et espèrent trouver la place pour se mettre en évidence et ainsi récolter le fruit de leurs efforts sur un podium.

LES VTT…en deux groupes

Eux aussi veulent vous impressionner mais quelques fois au détriment des conséquences encourues. La série Amateur et la série Pro se côtoient toujours et même si le nombre de bolides en piste n’est pas énorme, les sensations elles le sont. C’est à voir !

Suite de la finale MODIFIÉS….le 2 juillet prochain!

C’est le samedi 2 juillet que sera complétée la finale 40 tours déjà débutée le 11 juin dernier qui avait malheureusement été arrêtée par la pluie; seuls les bolides inscrits pour ce départ lors de cette épreuve pourront reprendre là où ils avaient laissé avant que la pluie ne fasse des siennes.

Par la même occasion, le promoteur Jasmin Péloquin avise les amateurs et principalement les coureurs de la classe Modifiée qu’il y aura finale de 100 tours au lieu des deux finales 40 tours prévus afin d’accélérer le déroulement du programme déjà très chargé.

2 FINALES SPORTSMAN le 9 juillet prochain !

Suite à l’interruption dû au mauvais temps le 2 juillet dernier, les Sportsman auront la chance de participer à 2 finales; il y aura donc la première en reprise et la seconde qui était déjà prévue…. Beaucoup d’action…messieurs préparez vos bolides!

Airborne Plans "Unforgettable" Fireworks Event

South Plattsburgh – Airborne Speedway will celebrate the 4th of July holiday on Saturday, July 2, with five divisions of stock car races and one of New York state’s largest fireworks displays, promoter Mike Perrotte announced today.

The pyrotechnics will be produced and directed by Plattsburgh chiropractor Joseph “Dr. Joe” Clauss and Sons. “We’ve arranged for some extra bulldozing to prepare the launch sites as an added safety precaution because this year’s display will be much bigger and longer than last year’s show, which was very well-received,” he said.

“We are going to fire the most gunpowder over the skies of Plattsburgh since we defeated the British ships in 1814,” Clauss promised. “I lost my Dad over the winter and I have never done a show without him. In part, this year’s display will be in hopes of having him looking down on Airborne and saying – nice job!”

“We have some specialty shells in transit from China ordered specifically for this night as we honor Plattsburgh and our country,” Clauss added.

The July 2nd event is sponsored by High Peaks Dental, Pepsi and Trim’s Mobile Home Service. All five Airborne divisions – DIRTcar Modifeds, Sportsman, Renegades, Mini Modifieds and Bombers - will be in action.

Grandstands open at 4 p.m. Racing begins at 6 p.m. Admission is $15/adults, kids 12 and under admitted free of charge. After 8:30 p.m., carloads will be admitted onto the grounds for a $7/parking fee.

Airborne Speedway is located on Broderick Road in South Plattsburgh, just off Rte 22, one mile south of I-87 exit 36. Airborne’s new Fun Karts on-site track will also be open.

MOSPORT SPEEDWAY RACE RECAP FOR JUNE 18, 2011

(Bowmanville, ON – June 20, 2011) There were smiles all around on June

18 as the weather finally cooperated and Mosport Speedway was able to present a full card of racing action from the homegrown Pure Stock division as well as the visiting OSCAAR Outlaw Super Late Models presented by Daymak Ajax and the CRS Ontario Legends.

As part of this night’s feature race, Daymak Ajax awarded Christopher Delmaire of Scarborough with an Eco Star bike valued at approximately $1,300.

PURE STOCK

The battle for the evening’s Pure Stock bragging rights was resolved only after a hard-fought, 20 lap scrap between a pair of past champions and a host of potential future title holders.

Sophomore driver Kyle Hope was the first out of the gate, snagging the early lead from the outside of the front row. Demoted to second place on lap three by two-time champion Jeff Scott (#96 Sunbird), Hope found himself further displaced when Kevin Hinds (#57) and the hard charging Nick Mulders (#89) pushed through to challenge Scott for the overall lead.

Hinds and Mulders were eventually able to wrestle top spot away from Scott and each took their turn on the point until the motor expired in Mulder’s Cavalier, the Turn Two, lap 10 tangle handed the lead back to Scott.

Defending series champion Kevin Pickford (#19 Buick Skyhawk), having been involved in an early race incident, hade been charging forward, picking off his rivals one at a time. With five-to-go Pickford moved onto Scott’s back bumper, applying the pressure for three full tours before taking the long, outside route through Turn Two, Pickford edging clear of Scott as the pair streamed down the backstraight and taking the lead, a position that he would not relinquish.

“You have no idea how much competition we have here,” exclaimed Pickford. “Once I finally caught up to Jeff, he was protecting the inside line so I knew the only way to get past him was to try going wide coming off of the turns.”

To add insult to injury, Duane Jeffery was also able to get around Scott to claim second place, the two drivers crossing the stripe nose-to-tail.

The ONTARIO LEGENDS

The Ontario Legends made their first of three appearances scheduled for Mosport on June 18 for Round Four of their 2011 calendar.

In the first three events of the year, the feature race wins have been split between defending series champion Adam Cuthbertson (2 wins) and former Mosport and Legends champion Andy Warbutton. And Saturday night’s race proved again to be a two-man tussle between the longtime rivals.

In the evening’s two, 8 lap heat dashes, Warbutton was able to edge out Cuthbertson to claim the preliminary sprint victories.

The 20 lap feature contest however would be a Cuthbertson versus Cuthbertson duel, as younger brother Wes (#12) led the first half-dozen laps from the pole position, with Adam Cuthbertson, Bill Mason (#4) and Warbutton tucked in closely behind.

Proving that he still had a few tricks that he had not shown his sibling, Adam took and held the high outside line as the pair rounded the Turn 3/ 4 combination to wrestle away the race lead. At the same time, Warbutton pipped Mason for third place, a position he would hold to the end of the 20 lap, “Clean and Green” contest.

Once clear of the pack, Adam Cuthbertson settled into a comfortable rhythm, pulling away to an eight car length lead over his brother at the checkered flag.

“This is very much a driver’s track; you really need how to handle the bumps and the different pavement. I thought I had Wes pretty well covered, but he was running an awesome race and I really wasn’t sure if I could get him,” laughed the race winner.

The OSCAAR OUTLAW SUPER LATE MODELS

Three time, and defending OSCAAR champion Glenn Watson maintained his perfect record for 2011, claiming his third feature victory of the season on Saturday night.

Not completely willing to show his hand in the heat sprints with a pair of third place results (behind Drew Spicer and Oakwood’s Dave Taylor), Watson was ready to charge in the 50 lap feature, moving up from his third row starting spot to take the point from Drew Spicer coming to the stripe in lap four.

Once in the lead, Watson had a good seat to watch the scramble developing for the runner-up position in his rearview mirrors.

Spicer (#89) running in his first event of the year, refused to gently concede the victory to Watson, maintaining a constant pressure while defending his position from the #62 of Lloyd Ritchie, Wayne Isaacs in the ex-Jeff Hanley #00 and the #9 of 18 year-old Brandon Watson.

Running in a nose-to-tail four car train behind the race leader, second place was eventually decided on a lap 35 caution period restart when Brandon Watson outbraked Spicer as the pair entered Turn One. Although he was able to mount a late race charge, the younger Watson fell two car lengths shy of the victory with Spicer edging out Isaacs for the final step of the podium.

“I spent a lot of time watching my mirrors, but the car was really fast tonight,” explained Glenn Watson. “I would have had to mess up pretty bad for them to beat me.”

Ritchie eventually faded to a fifth place result, with Dave Taylor, who had battled an evil-handling car all evening, crossing the stripe in a closing, sixth place.

“We missed the setup by a ton tonight. We were lucky to finish in sixth,” admitted Taylor.

Autodrome Chaudière - LA SÉRIE PASS NORTH US!

Du jamais vu à l'Autodrome Chaudière : Pro All Stars Series…

Samedi 25 JUIN 18H00, dans la continuité des fêtes de son 20^ième anniversaire, une première à l'Autodrome Chaudière de Vallée-Jonction : Les voitures de la Série PASS NORTH US, mieux connues sous l'appellation PRO STOCK, visitent l'ovale beauceron dans le cadre du «HABITATIONS DANY LAGACÉ PASS 150».

Ces gros cylindrés au profil bas développant une puissance de près de 500 chevaux, avec des freins très performants, des pneus lisses (slick) de 10 pouces, en font des bolides plus rapides que les LMS, soit environ une seconde de moins au tour. Leur présence à l'Autodrome Chaudière suscite un intérêt marqué de la part des amateurs de stock car de haut calibre, qui dépassera tout ce qu'ils ont vu auparavant sur la piste la plus inclinée au Québec.

Les Américains : les Rowe, Clark et Cie

Vingt-deux voitures inscrites à date pour cette finale de 150 tours, dont les treize premiers au championnat. Parmi ceux-ci mentionnons la présence des Américains Benji Rowe, meneur au classement, Johnny Clarck, champion 2010, Trevis Benjamin et le vétéran Mike Rowe, notre Jean-Paul Cabana US. Le Canadien Lonnie Sommerville du Nouveau-Brunswick fait partie des pilotes inscrits. Le jeune Austin Brehio, 13 ans, sera également de la course.

Les Québécois : les Gringras, Gosselin, Laperle, Latulippe et Cie

Six québécois dont Alexandre Gringras, 7^ième au classement PASS NORTH feront la lutte aux gros canons de cette Série. Les Mario Gosselin et Patrick Laperle qui ont terminé respectivement 8^ième et 10^ième à North Wilkesboro en avril dernier, Martin Latulippe Champion et Kevin Roberge 2^ième du Crate Late Model aux Wold Series of Asphalt de New Smirna en janvier dernier, mettront tout en œuvre pour gravir l'une des marches du podium. Quant à Jean-François Déry, il pilotera la deuxième voiture de Gingras.

L'ouverture pour les spectateurs est prévue pour 12h30. Arrivez tôt pour voir les pratiques des voitures PASS à 13h00, 14h00 et 15h00.

Les classes locales : Coupe BESYBUY Pièces d'Autos

Première tranche de quatre courses de la Coupe Sport Compacte Bestbuy : finale de 100 tours avec 30 voitures en piste. Avec le nombre record d'inscriptions, les qualifications seront d'une importance capitale. Que feront les champions 2009 Mario Roy et 2010 Marc-Antoine Demers contre les meilleurs pilotes des autodromes de St-Eustache, Ste-Croix, Montmagny et Vallée-Jonction?

PASS North will make first Autodrome Chaudiere appearance Saturday

Naples ME (6/20) The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North super late models will once again make their way across the Canadian border for their first ever stop at Autodrome Chaudiere in Lavallee Jonction Quebec this Saturday, June 25. The PASS Habitations Dany Lagace 150 is the first Quebec visit for the series since 2004.

Autodrome Chaudiere has 18 degrees of banking in the top groove, more than any other speedway in Quebec. They call the place a “Mini Bristol” and 150 green flag laps around this high speed soup bowl is guaranteed to satisfy the most knowledgeable Canadian race fan.

There's several local hot shoes ready to challenge the PASS touring regulars. Alexander Gingras has made all three PASS North events that have been contested to date, leading at New Brunswick Canada's Speedway 660 and scoring a season best sixth at the Beech Ridge opener. Gingras currently sits seventh in the PASS North super late model point standings.Local racers Jean Francis Dery and Martin Latulippe have both filed early entries for the series' first trip to their home territory.

They'll have a host of American invaders to contend with, including point leader Ben Rowe, defending series champion Johnny Clark, Maritime star Lonnie Sommerville, Travis Benjamin, Scott Chubbuck and 2010 PASS Rookie of the Year Joey Doiron. Richie Dearborn, Mike Rowe, 2011 Rookie of the Year contenders Kyle DeSouza and Matt Matheson, John Dabrowski, Gary Smith and Kirk Thibeau are all ready to make the trip and you can bet that a new track record for full fender race cars will be set when the super stars in the super cars tackle the high banked quarter mile.

Sport Compacts, Kamakazis and Limiteds complete the four division card. Race day is Saturday June 25^th, and the grandstand gates swing open at noon. Home track divisions get their night started at 5:55 PM and the first PASS qualifying race is set to roll off at 6:45 PM. RPM Speedway... C'était places aux « classes légères »

À quelques occasions, le RPM Speedway présente des programmes où la classe prestige « Modifié » ou leurs presque jumeaux, les Sportsman ne sont pas à l’horaire et dimanche dernier, le 19 juin jour de la Fête des Pères, ce fut le cas. Les classes Semi-Pro, Midget, Slingshot, Mini Modifiés et les Mod Lite étaient en piste. Un incident malheureux est venu ternir quelque peu la soirée; en effet, Sébastien Benoit au volant d’un bolide Midget a eu une malchance et a dû être transporté par ambulance ce qui a occasionné un retard de plus de 45 minutes au déroulement de la soirée

LES SEMI-PRO

Les Semi-Pro ont gagné sur la cédule 2011 du RPM Speedway; en effet, ils sont à sept reprises en action sur le tracé de St-Marcel sur Richelieu et ce soir, un bon nombre de bolides était en piste pour rivaliser en ce soir de « Soirée Familiale.

Au terme des 30 tours, Stéphane Messier # 63 s’est mérité le podium d’honneur après les 40 tours de la finale. Il fut suivi de Claude Piette # 14x et par Patrick L’héreault # 666.

LES MOD LITE

Nouvelle association qui en est à ses premiers pas et ils étaient du programme de dimanche avec toute la fougue qu’on leur reconnaît. Les bolides sont vraiment attrayants pour les spectateurs et donnent un très bon spectacle.

Au podium nous retrouvions Jacques Pelletier # 85, Stéphane Raymond # 57 et enfin le # 30 de Réjean Lemieux président de l’association.

LES MINI MODIFIÉS

Depuis plusieurs années les Mini Modifiés regroupent un bassin de pilotes de tous âges qui aiment la compétition….ils étaient nombreux en piste ce soir mais aucun n’est parvenu à devancer les « Désilets ». Junior # 20 a remporté les grands honneurs suivi de Éric # 28 et Jean-François Leblanc # 22. Ils seront en piste la semaine prochaine lors de la Super Séries 2010 de 100 tours chez les Modifiés.

LES MIDGET

Pour ceux qui ne les connaîtraient pas, les Midget sont identiques aux bolides des Lightning Sprint mais aucun aileron ne leur est permis. Ils offrent eux aussi un spectacle très intéressant pour les amateurs. Suite à une belle tenue en piste, c’est le vétéran Léon Mathieu qui a remporté cette finale suivi du sympathique André Bardier et Marc Chapdelaine.

LES Slingshot

Nouvelle catégorie faisant son apparition cette saison sur les circuits au Québec et particulièrement au RPM Speedway car ils se produisent sur le même tracé que toutes les autres classes; Carl Labonté était très fier de voir cette relève étant lui-même instigateur de la série. C’est un jeune pilote de 11 ans qui a finalement remporté les honneurs de la finale Kevin Hébert arborant le # 71 suivi de Patrick Manny # 32 et de Isabelle Manny # 31.

La Super Séries 2011, composée de 6 épreuves distinctes de 100 tours chacun chez les Modifiés, comporte 2 segments disputés au RPM Speedway la deuxième tranche se tiendra le samedi 20 août prochain…mettez ce spectacle à votre horaire.

Airborne recap June 18, 2011 - Bartemy scales light, Dupree wins

South Plattsburgh, NY – Aaron Bartemy and Patrick Dupree treated Airborne fans to an exciting close-quarters duel in the final 15 laps of the DIRTcar Modified main event Saturday. Bartemy was first to the finish line, but the Sheldon, VT racer’s No. B3 weighed in too light during post-race inspection. Apparent third-place finisher Martin Hebert was also disqualified for illegal cylinder heads.

The rules violations bumped Max Viens of Ste. Cesaire, QC into the runner-up spot and moved Andy Heywood into third. Positions 4-5-6 went to George Foley, Craig Reyell and Kris Vernold.

Bartemy took an early lead and survived every move Dupree could muster once the defending track champion moved into second place from his ninth starting spot. Bartemy kept the bottom groove protected in turns three and four and took a wider, higher, line in turns one and two to keep Dupree pinched down underneath him - by inches – as the laps wound down.

Dupree became the first two-time Ernie’s Discount Tools Modified feature winner this season. Bartemy was trying for his fourth career win. Viens and Heywood were seldom more than a car-length apart for what turned out to be a battle for second.

Craig Reyell’s 5th place finish was a seasonal best. Richard Tisseur of Chateauguay, QC, healthy and racing for the first time this season, started 26th and got home 7th. Kris Vernold was sixth. Dupree is the new Modified point leader.

Robin Wood drove the Rent-A-Wreck No. 61 to his fourth straight J&S Steel Sportsman win, denying all competitors the chance to collect the $250 bonus offered to whoever could break his winning streak. Wood took advantage of numerous early cautions to move into striking distance and took the lead for keeps on lap 17. Bucko Branham, Nick Heywood and Jamy Begor raced three-wide for a 2-3-4 finish. Danny Sullivan finished fifth.

“That was a tough race,” Wood said. “The inside was a little slick and the car was not as good as it’s been, but we were able to pull through.”

Jason McClatchie of Plattsburgh won a hard-fought five-car battle for his first Renegade win. McClatchie and runner-up Joe Warren spent the final ten laps at each other’s door, while Josh Terry and Lance Rabtoy swapped the third spot back and forth only a few feet behind the leaders. Robbie Favreau was a nearby fifth.

Chris Lavair won the extra-distance Mini-Modified event, besting Speedy Bresette and Billy Jenkins, who passed Scott Richner and Josh LaPorte for third on the white-flag lap. Josh Durivage won the first of two Busch Bomber features. Curtis Lagrave Jr snapped Durivage’s 4-race win streak in the nightcap.

Autodrome St-Eustache - la patience a vaincu à témérité

Soirée de pleine lune à l’ASE

Les amateurs de brasse-camarade en ont eu pour leur argent au cours de la finale Sportsman, samedi soir, à l’Autodrome St-Eustache, finale qui a dû être écourtée à 60 tours en raison du couvre-feu et de divers incidents, dont un carambolage monstre qui a mis plus de six voitures hors d’usage, dont deux des favoris, Maxime Pelletier et Stéphane Aubin au 18^e passage.

L’excellent JEAN-FRANÇOIS BOUVRETTE, policier de St-Jérôme, est sorti vainqueur de cette course. MARTIN GOULET et BENOÎT JUTEAU qui effectuait sa rentrée en 2011, ont également pris place sur le podium, respectivement en deuxième et troisième. Pour sa part, MATHIEU FRANCOEUR a connu son meilleur résultat en Sportsman avec une quatrième positon et MARIO CARRIER a complété son deuxième « top 5 » d’affilée. Mentionnons également la prestation du jeune Marc-Antoine Demers (422) qui a mené les 32 premiers tours de la course et a terminé en sixième position. STEVE LAGACÉ et le jeune MARC-ANTOINE DEMERS ont été les gagnants des préliminaires.

Le pilote Sébastien Joseph devra, quant à lui rencontrer les autorités au cours de la semaine pour répondre aux gestes antisportifs de lui et son équipe survenus pendant un drapeau jaune au 19^e tour.

Les 28 partants de la finale Sport Compactes Lucas Oil ont donné le meilleur spectacle de la soirée lors de leur finale de 30 tours. STEVE LADOUCEUR (31) de Mirabel a connu la victoire devant son rival du début des années 2000, STÉPHANE LANGEVIN (08) qui effectue un retour à la compétition en 2011, et CLAUDE SALOIS (03) qui a complété le podium. La recrue MAXIME LATENDRESSE (47) a connu une excellente quatrième position devant le champion de Vallée-Jonction, DOMINIQUE JACQUES (7) qui a complété le peloton des cinq premiers.

Deux jeunes pilotes, MAXIME GAUVREAU et JASON MORAND ont été moins chanceux et ont dû retraiter en début de courses faisant suite à des accidents.

Les gagnant des préliminaires Sport Compactes ont été Steve Ladouceur (31), Paul Jean (02) et Stéphane Langevin (08).

En Challenge 4 Meilleur Ramoneur, le champion défendant ALAIN TARDIF (42) a eu le dessus sur les 30 autres participants, tandis qu’en Production Remorquage SN, PATRICK LEPORÉ a connu une soirée parfaite en remportant la préliminaire et la finale devant Steve Ladouceur de Ste-Agathe et Hani Chiniara de Montréal. Leporé devra cependant attendre plus tard cette semaine pour célébrer son exploit puisqu’un protêt a été logé contre lui par Chiniara et que les résultats des vérifications des pièces saisies seront connus au plus tard mercredi soir.

MARDIS CRINQUÉS

D’ici la prochaine course du samedi soir qui sera tenue le 2 juillet, La première édition des « Mardis crinqués » aura lieu, ce mardi, 21 juin, alors que les Sport Compactes, Légendes Modifiées et Challenge 4 participeront à des courses amicales et que la soirée sera complétée par la première épreuve du championnat « voitures de rues ». Pour l’occasion, les puits ouvriront dès 18h et le tout se terminera à 21h30. Le prix d’admission partout sur le site a été fixé à 10 $ et les enfants de 12 ans et moins seront admis gratuitement.

John Donahue Earns Fourth Career ACT Win at White Mountain Motorsports Park

North Woodstock, NH – Graniteville, VT’s John Donahue took his fourth career ACT Late Model Tour win at White Mountain Motorsports Park in North Woodstock, NH on Saturday, June 18. Donahue, in his Ford, came from the sixth starting position for his second career win at the ¼ mile speedway.

Donahue held off ACT Tour Champion Brian Hoar and White Mountain Motorsports Park Champion Quinny Welch on several restarts, before outrunning a hard charging Randy Potter who came from 21^st. Welch led the early stages of the event before Donahue took over just before the halfway mark. The battle of the night belonged to Potter, Hoar and Wayne Helliwell for second. Potter would win the battle and was running down Donahue when the checkers flew.

Potter would take second followed by Helliwell, Hoar and Jamie Fisher in the top five. Second year driver Austin Theriault earned sixth with Glen Luce, Eric Chase, Ben Ashline and Dennis Spencer completing the top ten. Title contenders Brent Dragon and Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. were both involved in accidents and had to settle for finishes well outside the top ten.

Donahue had already earned an invitation to the ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, NH on Saturday, September 24. The invite list includes Brian Hoar, Nick Sweet, Patrick Laperle, Donahue, Jeff White, Daniel Descoste and Patrick Hamel.

The ACT Late Model Tour will be back in action next Saturday, June 25 with their second trip to Oxford Plains Speedway in Oxford, ME for a 150 lap event. It will be the last tune-up for many of the ACT teams who will return for the Oxford 250 on Sunday, July 24.
