Brian Hoar Collects 3rd Career Milk Bowl Win

BARRE, Vt. – Brian Hoar put the finishing touches on a record-setting 2011 season Sunday by winning the 49 annual People's United Bank Milk Bowl at Thunder Road International Speedbowl.

Hoar won his fifth career Milk Bowl pole in the event and won the first and third segments Sunday for his third career Milk Bowl championship. With the two segment wins, Hoar moved into sole possession of third-place for all-time segment wins.

“This is unbelievable,” Hoar said. “Man, that was awesome. I thought I lost it. It was wicked. I mean, unbelievable. It had been so many years since I won a race here, and I've always said the Milk Bowls that I won back in the '90s were just awesome.”

Hoar finished with a three-segment total of 14 points, including two wins and a 12th-place finish in the second segment. Hoar also won the event in 1998 and 1999.

Hoar and the No. 37 GossCars.com Dodge took the lead from Randy Potter on Lap 62 and then held off part-time RPM Motorsports teammate Nick Sweet over the final 13 laps.

The win capped off a stellar season for both Hoar and RPM Motorsports, who each won a record eighth ACT Late Model Tour championship. Hoar won six points races during the campaign and now has 33 career Tour victories, which is also a record.

In addition, Hoar won the ACT Goodyear Speedweeks Cup – a non-points event in Florida in February.

Hoar put the finishing touches on the ACT regular season on Saturday, finishing sixth in the Rent-A-Wreck Fall Foliage 200 at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, N.Y. In 13 starts this season, Hoar posted only one finish of worse than sixth.

Brian Hoar Claims 49th Annual People's United Bank Win

O’Donnell, Adams and Woodard Lock Up Thunder Road Championships

Barre, VT – Eight-time ACT Late Model Tour Champion Brian Hoar of Williston, VT claimed his third career People’s United Bank Milk Bowl win at Thunder Road in Barre, VT on Sunday, October 9. Hoar claimed the 49^th running of the Milk Bowl by winning two segments, while holding off a hard charging Nick Sweet over the final 15 laps of the third and final segment. Hoar and his Rick Paya Motorsports team will cash a check of over $10,000 including lap money.

Hoar claimed the Booth Bros./H.P. Hood pole award, setting the fast time in time trials. He cruised to an easy first segment win while leading all 50 laps. Sweet was on his back bumper to take second. The two then worked their way through the field during the 75-lap second segment with Hoar taking twelfth and Sweet in tenth.

The two trailed Scott Payea going into the third segment of 75 laps. Payea held the lead with ten points (4^th and 6^th), while Sweet had twelve points and Hoar had thirteen.

Sweet, the 2010 Thunder Road “King of the Road,” followed Hoar through the field during the third and final segment including a three wide move to stick to Hoar’s rear bumper. The duo took the first and second spots with under fifteen laps remaining to setup the final duel. Sweet made a charge on the outside, but didn’t have enough to get by. The pair both finished with a combined 14 points with Hoar winning the tie breaker with a better third segment finish.

Payea worked his way up to a twelfth place finish in the third segment to take third overall with 22 points. Lt. Governor Phil Scott (23 pts.) and Jean-Paul Cyr (24 pts.) completed the top five. 2011 “King of the Road” Dave Pembroke (24pts.) took sixth followed by 2010 Milk Bowl Champion Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. (25 pts.) in seventh. Mike Bailey claimed the second segment win for eighth with 33 points. Austin Theriault (36 pts.) and Craig Bushey (40 points) rounded out the top ten.

Derrick O’Donnell of Bradford, VT picked up his third win of the season and took the 2011 Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen Championship. O’Donnell out ran Jason Allen, Shawn Fleury, Eric Badore and Jason Corliss to cap off his championship season. Brendan Moodie, Mike Ziter, Alex Ferno, Kyle Pembroke and Christopher Pelkey completed the top ten.

Hardwick, VT’s Greg Adams, Jr. claimed the Allen Lumber Street Stock Championship by just three points after finishing sixth in the final feature. Troy Kingsbury claimed the feature win with Thomas Placey in second. Nick Pilotte took third, which was just three points behind Adams in the title hunt. Keith Fortier and Kyle Streeter completed the top five.

Jason Woodard of Waterbury, VT capped off his Junkyard Warrior championship with his ninth win of the season. Danny Brassard and Tommy Elwood completed the podium.

The 49^th Annual People’s United Bank Milk Bowl was the final event of the 52nd Thunder Road International Speedbowl season.

PASS North Banquet of Champions November 4

Naples ME (10/10) The Pro All Stars Series (PASS) North season still has one event to go but we do know when the series will celebrate the 2011 season. The annual PASS Banquet of Champions is set for November 4 2011 at the Howard Johnson's Convention Center, 155 Riverside Street in Portland Maine.

The evening gets under way with a 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM social hour followed by dinner from 7:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Then its time for the awards ceremony, followed by dancing to DJ Jesse Butler until 11:30.

Max ¨La Menace¨ sort vainqueur de du CHALLENGE 200

Devant 133 concurrents à l’Autodrome St-Eustache

Sous un soleil radieux et une température de près de 25 degrés, exceptionnel pour un 9 octobre, 133 voitures se sont élancées sur la piste pour la première de deux courses d’endurance de fin de saison.

De multiples carambolages, collisions et deux capotages ont tenu en haleine les amateurs entassés dans les estrades bondées durant près de trois heures.

Plusieurs belles luttes en tête du peloton ont eu lieu durant le déroulement de cette course infernale. Pendant le longs moments, Daniel Bélanger (67) était aux trousses de Maxime Pelletier (66) avant d’être contraint à un arrêt aux puits qui lui a fait perdre huit tours. Stéphane Langevin (3) qui a mené la course, a subi le même sort.

C’est finalement Maxime Pelletier (66) qui a eu raison de tout le monde en remportant l’épreuve, à plus de deux tours devant Martin Labonville (76).

38 voitures sur les 133 ayant pris le départ ont finalement franchi la ligne d’arrivée, certaines avec plusieurs tours de retard.

Le gagnant de l’épreuve, également champion Sportsman ANCA 2011, était tout ravi de son exploit. « J’ai gagné plusieurs épreuves en Sportsman et Légendes modifiées en carrière, mais après plusieurs tentatives, c’est ma première victoire dans une course d’Endurance…. » de dire Pelletier, qui a empoché la bourse de 1 000 $ et le trophée du gagnant, tout en félicitant les autres concurrents qui ont participé à l’épreuve.

Deux pilotes sur les dix premières voitures qui ont dû passer l’inspection de fin de course ont été exclues des résultats, il s’agit de la voiture de Jacques Tassé (181), qui avait terminé en troisième position et qui ne s’est pas présenté à l’inspection, et Daniel Duval (153) pour l’utilisation d’un pneu non conforme.

En attendant le compte-rendu complet des positions de fin de course qui paraîtra sur les site Web officiels de l’ASE et de l’ANCA mardi, voici le « top ten » de l’épreuve :

Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Award Humbles Buescher;News & Notes from ARCA Racing Series at Kansas Speedway

(TOLEDO, Ohio) - Chris Buescher had watched Ty Dillon score four wins in speedway races this season, making his own lead in the Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge dissolve and disappear.

After winning the Challenge Friday night, though, Buescher said that accepting one of ARCA's top honors is humbling for him and his team.

Buescher (No. 17 Reliance Tool/David Ragan Ford Ford) opened the season and his speedway campaign with a second-place finish to Bobby Gerhart (No. 5 Lucas Oil Chevrolet) at Daytona, and followed with a fifth-place run at Talladega. Runner-up results at Chicagoland and Pocono in June moved him to a 30-point lead in the special standings over Ty Dillon (No. 41 Hemelgarn/CTECH/CIPT Chevrolet), despite Dillon's wins at Talladega and Chicagoland.

But Dillon's pass of Max Gresham (No. 25 Gresham & Associates/World Crown 300 Toyota) on the final lap at Michigan two weeks later served notice to Buescher that taking the Hoosier award would not be so simple. Buescher's new advantage was just 10 points, following a fifth-place run that day.

A steady diet of short track racing in July kept the Challenge standings and Buescher's narrow lead the same until August 6, when Dillon won again at Pocono. Buescher finished third, 10 points behind Dillon, meaning the two drivers would be tied going to the Challenge's final race at Kansas.

Dillon, who will clinch the overall series championship by merely starting Sunday at Toledo Speedway, led 76 of the first 81 laps in the Kansas Lottery 98.9 and appeared to be well on his way to accepting another championship honor at the ARCA Racing Series banquet in December. Contact from a lapped car, though, removed him from contention, and Buescher took advantage.

He drove to the front of the field by passing Gresham on a late restart, and could have taken the Challenge with a victory if not for Alex Bowman's (No. 55 St. Jude Children's Research Hospital Toyota) dash from fourth place with two laps to go. Still, Buescher's second-place finish against Dillon's result five positions behind gave Buescher a final 25-point advantage.

"It's a really humbling award for all of us, really," said the winner, wearing a Hoosier hat and trademark neck band while speaking to gathered press in the Kansas Speedway media center Friday night. "I'm happy to get it, and I'm thankful. I think we had a little luck finally go our way this race, as far as getting this championship. It's one of those deals that you'll take them how you can get them. It's obviously a lot of effort in finishing in the top five in every one of them. We're real happy to get (the award)."

Though Buescher won the Challenge without winning once in the seven races on paved ovals one mile or longer - a feat last accomplished by Erin Crocker in 2007 - his consistency proved worthwhile.

"We're always close," said Buescher, whose Roulo Brothers Racing work is part of his role as a Roush Fenway Racing development driver. "It's a matter of, 'Will things fall our way?' or guys not blowing by us like we're tied to a stump. It's been a really good year for us. I wish we could have gotten the Four Crown too, but we had a little bad luck on the road course (New Jersey), unfortunately.

"We at the Roulo Brothers and I feel like we really deserve this Superspeedway Challenge. We worked really hard for it, and it's something that we're not really known for. It's huge."

With the Challenge behind him, Sunday's season finale at Toledo Speedway gives the 18-year-old Texan a final shot at this third win of the season, following victories in DuQuoin, Ill. and Salem, Ind. in recent weeks.

"(Toledo) is a place where we struggled in my first year, but we've really come into," Buescher said. "It's started to grow on me, that's for sure. We'll have the same car that we won both races (in 2010) with. It's a really good car and works really well at that particular track. I have a lot of history with it, as well, going back to the days when (Ricky) Stenhouse ran it.

"It's a track that's been really good to us. It suits my driving style pretty well. It suits that particular car we have very well. We're hoping to make some improvements to it, and hope to get out there and start testing."

Championship One Start Away: Late contact from a lapped car forced Ty Dillon into the wall late in the Kansas Lottery 98.9, erasing his chance at contention after his dominant performance early in the race. Though Dillon lost his shot at the Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Award, he tightened his grip on a greater prize: the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards championship.

Dillon now leads Buescher by 335 points, meaning that merely entering and starting Sunday's Toledo ARCA 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway - the season finale - will make him the 29th champion in ARCA Racing Series history.

"It was a great race," said Dillon. "I'm really happy for my guys. It's a good day for Chevy and my whole team. Our guys dominated all night: restarts, during the race, pit stops, just the whole race.

"I'm just really disappointed that a car that's getting lapped every three laps can't get out of your way, so that's as far as I'm going to go on that incident."

Dillon won the Aaron's Lap Leader Award for leading 76 of 99 laps, and won the Messina Halfway Leader Award for holding the race lead at the halfway point.

He won at Toledo Speedway in May, and will go there with a chance to secure his series-leading eighth victory of 2011. A win would make him only the 33rd driver in series history with 10 or more wins.

Every driver in the top 10 kept their position. Frank Kimmel (No. 44 Ansell/Menards Ford), Grant Enfinger (No. 36 BeasleyAllen.com/Hoosier Tire Midwest Dodge), and Chad McCumbee (No. 1 ModSpace Ford) follow the two leaders.

Tim George Jr. (No. 31 Applebee's/Potomac Family Dining Group Chevrolet), Tom Hessert (No. 52 Federated Auto Parts Chevrolet), Chad Hackenbracht (No. 58 Tastee Caramel Apples Chevrolet), Sean Corr (No. 82 Empire Racing Ford), and Darrell Basham (No. 34 Darrell Basham Racing Chevrolet) hold the sixth through 10th positions.

Currently, the closest margin between any two top-10 drivers is 70 points, George's deficit to McCumbee for fifth. Hessert trails George for sixth by 80, and Corr trails Hackenbracht for eighth by 90.

The full and official ARCA Racing Series point standings will be released Tuesday.

Bowman Hopeful for More Races: Alex Bowman has only made two starts in the ARCA Racing Series, and his success in both has him wanting more.

"I hope we can make it to Toledo or Daytona," he said. "I'd love to run more races, but as we all know, a lot of it's about funding. It's something we're looking for to run more races."

Chris Buescher, who finished second, is another driver hoping Bowman gets another chance.

"I was in a little bit of shock," he said about Bowman's Lap 97 pass after driving from fourth place. "I had no clue there was anybody that fast coming up. I really did not have any warning. When we got by (Gresham) on the restart, I really thought we could hold him off. Next thing I know, I had this guy blowing by me. It was discouraging, but at the same time, we're happy to finish second."

Buescher then turned to Bowman, who was seated next to him in the Kansas Speedway interview room.

"Congratulations to Alex. I believe I've finished second to him twice now. I hope if you go to Toledo we can get you there."

Bowman's move from USAC midgets to stock cars may look like a breeze for the 18-year-old Tucson, Ariz. driver, but he insists that it's not.

"It's not easy," he said. "I have to attribute a lot of this to Venturini Motorsports. You look at them, and everyone who's gotten in their cars has won. Toward the middle part of the race when we were going backward, that was the only time I ever complained about a really bad car in the time I've been testing and driving for Venturini. It's always spot on, and I just can't thank them enough. They make my job a heck of a lot easier."

Friday Night Pleases Enfinger: Grant Enfinger drove Allgaier Motorsports to third place in the Kansas Lottery 98.9, and said after the race that he enjoyed the chance to race in prime time under Kansas Speedway's new lights.

"Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't be too thrilled about third place, but we've had such bad luck the last few weeks and we've really struggled on the bigger tracks this season," he said. "We've made a lot of gains with this Allgaier Motorsports car. It's a car we haven't raced this year; it's been a long time since they ran it. Overall, it was a pretty good day for us."

Enfinger said that racing on a Friday night instead of a Thursday, as in 2010, "made for a better show" despite the minor logistical and scheduling challenges associated with racing in conjunction with the NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series.

Gresham, Gale Shine at Kansas: Max Gresham's fourth-place finish completed a day in which he won the Menards Pole Award presented by Ansell, his second this year and his third in 12 career starts. Venturini Motorsports has now won seven poles this season, equaling seven from Richard Childress Racing.

Cale Gale (No. 33 Rheem Chevrolet) drove his Kevin Harvick, Inc. car to fifth place, his sixth top-five finish in nine career ARCA Racing Series starts.

Dufault Wins CGS Hard Charger Award: Maryeve Dufault (No. 12 Race Engines Plus/Dodge Motorsports Dodge) participated in an ARCA Racing Series event for the first time since the August 6 race at Pocono, and yet again won the CGS Imaging Hard Charger of the Race Award.

Dufault improved 14 spots from a starting position of 32nd to finish 18th. Her rise was greater than that of any other driver who did not use a provisional to start the Kansas Lottery 98.9.

Lofton Rebounds for Career High: Matt Lofton (No. 16 Strutmasters.com Chevrolet) finished sixth in the Kansas Lottery 98.9, a career high in five starts between 2010 and 2011. Lofton had to rebound after spinning in Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell earlier in the day and starting with a provisional from the 36th position in a 38-car field.

Drivers Meet Fans at Kansas City Cabela's: Activity for the race weekend started Thursday with setup and inspection in the ARCA Racing Series garage, which was followed by a driver autograph session at a Cabela's store near Kansas Speedway.

19 drivers participated in the session and met fans for one hour: Alex Bowman, Colin Braun, Sean Corr, George Cushman, Maryeve Dufault, Milka Duno, Grant Enfinger, Charles Evans Jr., Spencer Gallagher, Buster Graham, Max Gresham, Chad Hackenbracht, James Hylton, Scott Lagasse Jr., Michael Leavine, Matt Lofton, Jared Marks, Chad McCumbee, and Ryan Wilson.

Season Finale at ARCA's Home Track Up Next: The Toledo ARCA 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway will close the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season, completing a schedule of 19 races over speedways, short tracks, dirt tracks, and a road course.

Grant Enfinger, who finished second to Ty Dillon there in May, is looking forward to the finale at the track located just six miles and over a state border from ARCA's home office in Temperance, Mich.

"Toledo's one of my favorite tracks," he said. "It's where I really started my racing career in the ARCA Racing Series, and it's the first place I had (sponsor) Beasley Allen on my car in ARCA. I hope we have a good car. We'll have the same car we ran there earlier in the year, so hopefully we'll have another good run and be in contention to win."

Toledo Speedway will host two practices on Saturday, October 15, with one from noon to 12:45 p.m., and the second from 1:40 to 2:25. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell will decide the final ARCA pole winner of 2011 at 4 p.m., preceding a USAC Midget feature and a USAC Silver Crown feature to close the first day of the track's championship weekend.

On Sunday, October 16, an on-track autograph session for all fans from noon to 1 p.m. will precede the 200-lap, 100-mile Toledo ARCA 200, which will start at 2 p.m.

Advance discount tickets for the Menards 200 are available at Toledo-area Menards stores, including locations in Sandusky, Findlay, and Defiance. Race fans can save on ticket prices through October 14.

Toledo Speedway is located at 5639 Benore Road in northeast Toledo, just off I-75 and Alexis Road near the Michigan/Ohio border. More information is available by calling (419) 727-1100 or by visiting ARCARacing.com.

The ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards features 19 events at 16 tracks on its 2011 schedule. The series has crowned an ARCA national champion each year since its inaugural season in 1953, and has toured over 200 race tracks in 28 states since its inception. The series tests the abilities of drivers and race teams over the most diverse schedule of stock car racing events in the world, annually visiting tracks ranging from 0.4 mile to 2.66 miles in length, on both paved and dirt surfaces as well as a left- and right-turn road course.

Founded by John Marcum in 1953 in Toledo, Ohio, the Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is recognized among the leading sanctioning bodies in the country. Closing in on completing its sixth decade after hundreds of thousands of miles of racing, ARCA administers over 100 race events each season in two professional touring series and local weekly events.

Alex Bowman Wins at Kansas Speedway, Takes Second Victory in Two ARCA Racing Series Starts

(KANSAS CITY, Kan.) - Charging with the will to maintain his perfect record in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, Alex Bowman passed Chris Buescher with two laps remaining in the Kansas Lottery 98.9 and drove away to his second victory in as many starts.

Bowman defeated Buescher, Grant Enfinger, Max Gresham, and Cale Gale. Points leader Ty Dillon finished seventh after a late incident with a lapped car, but kept a 335-point lead over Buescher and will clinch the ARCA Racing Series title next week by entering and starting at Toledo Speedway.

Bowman also won at Madison International Speedway in August, his first career start.

Buescher's second-place finish was his seventh top-five run in seven starts on paved ovals over one mile in distance, giving him the Hoosier Tire Superspeedway Challenge Award over Dillon by 25 points.

More information on the 99-lap, 148.5-mile Kansas Lottery 98.9 at Kansas Speedway - the track's first race under the lights - will be available shortly.

Next weekend's Toledo ARCA 200 presented by Federated Car Care at Toledo Speedway will close the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards season, completing a schedule of 19 races over speedways, short tracks, dirt tracks, and a road course.

On Sunday, October 16, an on-track autograph session for all fans from noon to 1 p.m. will precede the 200-lap, 100-mile Toledo ARCA 200, which will start at 2 p.m.

NASCAR TRUCK CHAMP JACK SPRAGUE ENTERS TOLEDO ARCA FINALE'

Toledo, Ohio-October 7, 2011: Former NASCAR Truck Series champion Jack Sprague will wheel a car owned by Mark Beard in next Sunday's ARCA Racing Series (ARS) presented by Menards Federated Car Care 200 at Toledo Speedway. The entry was confirmed today while the Beard Oil team prepares for a race tonight at the Kansas Speedway. The Toledo race is part of National Championship Weekend, set for Saturday and Sunday, October 15-16.

The Toledo event is the final race for the ARS Series for the 2011 season. Sprague, a native of Spring Lake, MI will drive a car for fellow Wolverine resident Mark Beard of Mt. Pleasant, MI. Beard is no stranger to Toledo Speedway, having competed many times at the fast, ½ mile paved oval in an ARCA Late Model in the 1970's. The Beard Oil team has Clay Rogers in the driver's seat for the Kansas race tonight. Sprague was scheduled to also compete at Kansas, but tagged the wall in testing at the track last week.

The race is part of National Championship Weekend at Toledo, perhaps one of the biggest season-ending events at a short track in the country. Pre-registration will take place Friday, October 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Toledo Speedway Bar/Grille, located on the grounds of the track. The NASCAR Nationwide race will be shown on big-screen TV's at the bar, courtesy of Aaron's.

Saturday, October 15 the USAC Silver Crown Cars will pay a visit to the Glass City oval for their championship event, the Rollie Beale 150. The open-wheel cars will be making just their 2^nd appearance at Toledo for the 2011 championship event. The USAC Regional Midgets and practice and qualifying for the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards is also on the Saturday schedule of events. Saturday's practice begins at 11 a.m. and racing begins at 3:30, with the 150 lap feature slated to roll off at approximately 5:15 p.m.

Aaron's will host another big-screen party at the Bar/Grille Saturday night, featuring the NASCAR Sprint Cup event from Charlotte. Admission is free and open to the public.

The annual ARCA FanFest will be held in the track parking lot both Saturday and Sunday, with games, displays, race cars and more. Admission is free to the FanFest.

The Sunday, October 16 schedule has the front gates opening at 10 a.m., with an on-track autograph session with the ARCA drivers at Noon. The Federated Car Care 200 gets the green flag at 2 p.m.

Autodrome St-Eustache - Reprise du Challenge 200..sous le soleil

Dimanche, le 9 octobre

Si on se fie aux prévisions météorologiques, c’est par un dimanche ensoleillé et une température de 20 degrés et plus que sera reprise la course CHALLENGE 200 OXYGÈNE 640 contremandée la semaine dernière à cause d’une température tout à fait différente de 10 degrés, accompagnée d’une froide pluie.

Lorsque la nouvelle de la remise a été annoncée, sur le coup de midi dimanche passé, près de cent voitures avaient été inspectées et avaient pigé leurs positions de départ pour la finale de 200 tours. Au moment d’écrire ces lignes, plus d’une cinquantaine de participants s’étaient ajoutés. Les organisateurs s’attendent donc à un nombre record pour une course enduro composée exclusivement de voitures 4 cylindres.

C’est à 10 h 00 dimanche matin, le 9 octobre, que les puits seront ouverts. Les voitures non inspectées, dimanche dernier, devront obligatoirement subir le test de freins et l’inspection requise avant d’accéder à la piste pour les pratiques. Les voitures munies des autocollants d’inspection déjà émis pourront, quant à elles, accéder à la piste pour les essais de 10 h 15 à midi.

Les amateurs présents auront, quant à eux, droit à toute une enlevante épreuve de 200 tours dont le signal du départ sera donné à 14 h 00 précises.

Le prix d’admission sera de 20 $ pour les adultes, 10 $ pour les 13 à 17 ans et tout à fait gratuitement pour les enfants de 12 ans et moins. L’admission dans les puits est de 25 $ pour tous.

Prendre note que la course ENDURANCE 250 pour les 4, 6 et 8 cylindres et le SMASHFEST ont été décalés d’une semaine (les 16 et 23 octobre respectivement) en raison de cette reprise du CHALLENGE 200, ce dimanche.

MacDonald, Branham, Bruno Surprise Entries to ACT Fall Foliage

Waterbury, VT – The American Canadian Tour (ACT) Rent-A-Wreck Fall Foliage 200 at Airborne Speedway this Saturday, October 8, 2011 will have some surprise entries.

Perhaps the most surprising entry came from the star of the ACT Invitational at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) two weeks ago: Eddie MacDonald, from Rowley, MA who has entered the 200-lap event following his second ACT Invitational win. “I have heard how great Airborne’s half mile races have been, and since our season on the NASCAR K&N Series will be over (MacDonald finished 5^th at Dover Downs International Speedway last weekend) this should be a lot of fun. I really enjoy racing with the ACT guys and just maybe Nick (Sweet) and I can have another battle….that would be pretty special,” said MacDonald. Sweet, from Barre, VT, has now finished second to MacDonald in two of the three Invitational events at NHMS. He will be driving the #57 RPM Ford for the Rick and Michelle Paya team to finish out the 2011 ACT points season.

Hometown favorite, Brian “Bucko” Branham has entered the 200-lap finale. Branham, the former ACT Late Model racer, has spent over twenty-five years racing at Airborne. “I have recently been racing in the Sportsman division, but really wanted to try a Late Model at the new Airborne. Mike Thompson from Vermont has given me the opportunity to drive his car, and I can’t wait,” Branham said. Branham has been a fan favorite for many years with his ‘no-holds-barred’ racing.

“I think it’s great that Bucko has a ride for this event. He was a great supporter of ACT and certainly one of the favorite drivers at Airborne when we ran the track from 1990 through 2004. He continues to be a top runner with the Sportsman division, and having him in the Fall Foliage will definitely give the local fans someone to cheer for, and no doubt will have me on the edge of my seat,” said Tom Curley, President of the American Canadian Tour.

Yet another surprise entry will be that of 2006 asphalt dirt Modified Champ Mike Bruno from Rutland, VT. Bruno, the former dirt racer, turned to ACT Late Models and NASCAR North before heading back to dirt and asphalt dirt racing. In 2011 Bruno ran both ACT events and asphalt dirt Modifieds. “I just had to enter this race. I was there when ACT opened the asphalt half mile back in the ‘90s, and I returned with a dirt Modified a few years ago. Going back with our ACT car for the Fall Foliage will be a lot different, but the new Airborne track is just one of those tracks that all racers want to race on”, said Bruno.

The Fall Foliage 300 will consist of a 200-lap combination point event for the ACT US and ACT Castrol Series competitors. Teams from both sides of the border, including US and Castrol Champions Brian Hoar and Patrick Laperle, will head the list of ACT Late Model entrants. Over 40 teams are expected to compete in the final point event of the year for both series.

The Bond/Wix Tiger Tour will complete their season with a 100-lap event at Airborne. Bradford, Vermont’s Derrick O’Donnell leads the Tiger Sportsman group to Airborne, but will be trying to capture his first Tiger Tour title with limited experience at the half mile. Several Vermont drivers will attempt to add their name to the trophy, including Joe Steffen from Essex Jct., defending Tiger Tour champion Jason Bonnett from St. Albans, and Joey Roberts from Georgia. All have lots of experience at Airborne. “I don’t know if we have enough to catch Derrick, but the battle from second to seventh in the standings should be pretty intense. Airborne is one of our favorite places to race, so we are really looking forward to it”, said Smith McKay, owner of the #00 that former Tiger Sportsman Champion Joe Steffen drives.

Gates will open at 10am Saturday, October 8, 2011. Post time is 1pm. Admission is just $18 for adults and kids 12 and under are free.
