Waterbury, VT – The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) and Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park have announced the ACT World Series 100 at Thompson Speedway on Saturday, October 17 will be broadcast live on FansChoice.TV. Viewers around the world now have the opportunity to view the ACT Late Model Tour season finale held as part of Thompson's annual Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing presented by XtraMart.

 

FansChoice will provide live online single-camera streaming coverage paired with live public address audio of select touring and weekly series events at the 5/8-mile speedway. The service previously broadcast the ACT American Racer Challenge Cup at Florida's New Smyrna Speedway in February.

 

"Over the years, the Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing, presented by XtraMart has become one of the nation's premier events," Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park General Manager Josh Vanada said. "We are glad to partner with FansChoice to bring the event worldwide."

 

The World Series 100 is the inaugural event at Thompson Speedway for the ACT Late Model Tour. The former ACT Pro Stock Tour visited the track seven times, most recently in 1992 for a 100-lap event won by Junior Hanley.

 

The event will also decide the 2015 ACT Tour championship. Two-time ACT Champion Wayne Helliwell Jr. of Dover, NH enters with a 42-point lead over defending Champion Joey Polewarczyk Jr. of Hudson, NH.

 

Windham, ME's Brad Babb sits third in the standings, while Jeff White, Emily Packard, and Brandon Atkins are locked in a tight battle for the fourth-through-sixth spots. They will take on Thompson Speedway regulars such as Jeff Rocco, Jared Materas, and Larry Gelinas.

Barre, VT – Thunder Road rivals Derrick O'Donnell of N. Haverhill, NH and Barre's Nick Sweet will lead the field to the green flag in Segment 1 of the 53rd Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl on Sunday, October 11.

 

Three-time defending "King of the Road" O'Donnell topped a field of 47 challengers in Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Time Trials with a fast lap of 13.229 seconds to take the pole. 2013 Milk Bowl Champion Sweet was right on his heels with a lap of 13.249 seconds and will start outside the front row.

 

 

Barre's Cody Blake was third-fastest, completing a sweep of the top-three starting positions by the three top drivers in the final 2015 Thunder Road Late Model standings. The top 27 cars were separated by just 3/10 of a second.

 

Multi-time Thunder Road winner Jason Corliss won the first "Triple 50" qualifier after coming out on top of a thrilling three-way battle with Brian Hoar and Eddie MacDonald. American-Canadian Tour (ACT) point leader Wayne Helliwell Jr. took the second Triple 50 and Merchants Bank 150 winner Brad Babb captured the third qualifier.

 

The Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen and Allen Lumber Street Stocks held Segment 1 of their Mini Milk Bowls. Middlesex's Shawn Fleury won the pole in Tiger Sportsman time trials and held off a race-long challenge from Craftsbury Cmn.'s Mike Martin to triumph in Segment 1. Doug Crowningshield finished third with 2015 Tiger Champion Brendan Moodie and Cameron Ouellette completing the top-five.

 

Whitefield, NH's Ben Belanger emerged on top of a rough-and-tumble Street Stock Segment 1. Belanger fended off West Burke's Mike Smith and Essex Jct.'s Matthew Smith for the win. Marcel J. Gravel and Jennifer Getty finished fourth and fifth.

 

The Last Chance "B" Feature for the 53rdNorthfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl rolls to the grid at 12:15pm on Sunday, October 11 with just the top-two finishers guaranteed a Milk Bowl starting spot. Opening ceremonies will follow at 1:00pm. Single-day admission is $25 for adults and free for kids age 12 and under.

Communiqué fin de saison PASS North - Raphael Lessard

C'est ce dimanche 04 octobre 2015, que ce tenait le dernier programme de la Série Pass North à Oxford Plains Speedway Me.

À bord de la voiture #71 aux couleurs de FRL Express et supporté par l'équipe David Gilliland Racing, Raphaël était prêt pour ces 150 tours.



Après une journée de test en Ohio sur la piste de Columbus Motor Speedway, l'équipe est arrivée confiante pour le programme. Les pratiques du samedi se sont bien déroulées; les temps étaient satisfaisants.

La journée du dimanche fut plus difficile. La voiture se dégradait rapidement même en pratique. Partie en 6e position lors de la séance de qualification et se battant avec une voiture instable, c'est en 10e position que Raphaël a terminé la qualification ce qui l'amena à devoir participer à la finale consolation.

Les résultats de cette finale ne furent pas meilleurs. La voiture ne répondait pas bien et les efforts de Raphaël pour performer n'auront pu être récompensés.

Heureusement, grâce à sa participation assidue au programme PASS North, Raphaël a pris le départ en 31e position en ayant accès à la course par la place provisionnelle.

En début de programme, suite à des ajustements faits, la voiture #71 était plus stable et rapide ce qui a permis à notre pilote de monter jusqu'à la 13e position évitant deux incidents de course. Malheureusement, la voiture s'est dégradée en cours de programme et c'est en 20e position que Raphaël termine la finale.

 

Bilan de saison

Pour sa première saison 2015, c'est en 7e position au championnat PASS North que Raphaël Lessard termine la saison. Nous pouvons être fiers de plusieurs belles réalisations. À sa première course de la saison en avril, sur le tracé d'Oxford Plains Speedway Me, Raphaël est parvenu à se qualifier, et ce devant plusieurs autres pilotes d'expérience.

Il a réalisé deux 6e position à l'Autodrome Chaudière de Vallée-Jonction dont une qui restera à jamais gravé dans nos mémoires alors qu'il a livré une chaude lutte à la vedette Nascar le # 11 Denny Hamlin.

En 15 programmes avec la série PASS North, Raphaël a réalisé 3 top 10 et aura su gagner le respect des autres pilotes de la classe.

Nous tenons à remercier sincèrement chacune des personnes qui se sont impliquées auprès de l'équipe tout au long de la saison. Une saison d'apprentissage qui aura confirmé la capacité d'adaptation exceptionnelle de Raphaël ainsi que son talent de pilotage.

Même s'il a tenu la première place du classement pendant une bonne partie de la saison c'est seulement samedi dernier que le pilote de St-Édouard a officialisé son titre de champion de la série ACT propulsée par Carbopoxy de Techniseal.

 

Être constant, être toujours aux avants postes et éviter les ennuis ont été la clé de son succès.

 

Selon ses dires : le haut fait d'armes a été le début de la saison. Six podiums consécutifs lui ont donné l'élan nécessaire pour garder la tête du classement''

 



Il y a de grands noms du stock car québécois et américain dans la liste des champions ACT. Samedi passé, Dany Trépanier est passé à l'histoire : ''Je tiens à remercier tous les commanditaires qui m'ont supporté au fil des années et surtout ceux qui sont présents avec moi cette saison. Sans vous, ce championnat n'aurait pas été possible''

Pour Crazy Horse Racing, constructeur de la voiture, il s'agit d'un premier championnat ACT depuis 2009.

Le niveau de compétition dans la série ACT Carbopoxy a été TRES élevé cette saison. Plus de 40 pilotes québécois ont participé à la série et plus de 15 américains sont venus ''north of the border'' pour compétitionner avec l'élite du stock car québécois.

 

Jean-Francois Déry et Jonathan Bouvrette ont terminé deuxième et troisième au classement. Nous reviendrons sur leur saison lors d'un prochain communiqué mais pour l'instant, à tout Seigneur, tout honneur :

PASS Announces 2016 Dates For East Carolina, Concord, And Caraway

CHARLOTTE, NC (October 9) – Pro All Stars Series (PASS) President Tom Mayberry announced the addition of four more dates to the 2016 PASS South Super Late Model schedule today.  Caraway Speedway returns to the PASS South schedule and will host a major event there on Saturday, April 16, 2016.  The following week, East Carolina Motor Speedway in Robersonville, NC will host the series for the first time ever on Saturday night, April 23, 2016.  And, after ending a nearly 2 ½ year hiatus this year, Concord Speedway will once again kickoff a huge Memorial Day weekend of action by hosting the PASS South Super Late Models on Friday night, May 27, 2016.   Additionally, North-South Shootout promoters Darren and Renee Hackett are pleased to announce that it will be back at Concord Speedway on Friday and Saturday, November 4-5, 2016 and that the PASS South Super Late Models will join the Tour-type Modifieds in headlining the event.

The dates at Caraway, East Carolina, and Concord will join previously announced PASS South events on the 2016 schedule, including the South Carolina Clash at Dillon Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 5, 2016 and the 11th Annual Easter Bunny 150 at Hickory Motor Speedway on Saturday, March 26, 2016.

"We're very excited to announce four more great events for 2016 at Caraway, East Carolina, and Concord," said PASS President Tom Mayberry.  "We believe East Carolina will be a perfect addition to the PASS family of tracks for 2016 and can build on the momentum of a strong race at Caraway the week prior.  Our return to Concord this year for the Memorial Day race was a great success.  We are equally as excited to be a part of the North-South Shootout's homecoming at Concord this November and beyond.  Our races there next year will insure more great short racing action for the foreseeable future at the Concord Speedway half-mile."

Concord Speedway was known throughout the country for hosting the legendary Big 10 Series, which featured what eventually became known as the Super Late Model division.  PASS competed at Concord Speedway from 2007-2012 and returned this year for the Old Glory 125 in May, which was won by Zane Smith.  This year's winner of the North-South Shootout at Concord in November will be awarded a guaranteed starting spot for the most prestigious Super Late Model event in the county, the 43rd Annual Oxford 250 at Oxford Plains Speedway.  With their return to Concord Speedway on Memorial Day Weekend 2016, PASS once again will be a part of the biggest racing weekend of the year, not only in the Charlotte area, but in the entire United States.

Caraway Speedway first hosted the PASS South Super Late Models back in 2008.  Since then, PASS has raced there 6 more times, including a thriller this year won by Jared Fryar.  In 2012, Darren and Renee Hackett invited PASS to be a part of the prestigious North-South Shootout at Caraway Speedway and it has seen an impressive list of winners which includes Jay Fogleman, Ben Rowe, and Ryan Moore.  Over the next two years, PASS will continue their involvement with the Hackett family as the event moves back to Concord Speedway.

"We are very glad to continue our relationship with what we believe is the premier Super Late Model series in the nation," said North-South Shootout promoter, Renee Hackett.  "Tom [Mayberry] and his staff have always been great to work with and we are so glad that we can build on what we have done together at Caraway and, at the same time, tackle a new adventure together at Concord."

Under the leadership of the Perry family, East Carolina Motor Speedway has become one of the premier facilities in eastern North Carolina.  While the tricky 3/8 mile, D-shaped speedway will be hosting PASS for the first time in 2016, it will not be the first time Super Late Models have raced there.  Throughout the 1980's and 1990's, East Carolina was well known for featuring what was then known as the Late Model Sportsman division.

"East Carolina Motor Speedway is excited to welcome the PASS South Super Late Models to our track in 2016," said East Carolina Motor Speedway promoter, John Vick.  "Our fans have been asking for these guys to come to our track and we can't wait to have them here next April."

Barre, VT – The 53rd Annual Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl at Barre's Thunder Road on Sunday, October 11 will once again present the toughest challenge of the season for American-Canadian Tour (ACT)-type Late Model teams. Drivers from throughout the Northeast United States and Canada will converge at the ¼-mile speedway this weekend vying for the $10,000 guaranteed top prize in the Thunder Road season finale.

 

The Milk Bowl historically attracts a "melting pot" of Late Model competitors. This year one of the most diverse fields in recent memory will take on the unique three-segment event, including former winners and track champions from around the region.

 

"Recent Milk Bowls have been very high scoring events because of the tremendous parity we have in Late Model racing," ACT President Tom Curley said. "This means lots of potential winners. When you have arguably the best weekly division going against the deepest and most talented touring division on what is probably the toughest short track with the toughest format for stock car racing – what's not to like?!

 

"$10,000 to win, lap money, kissing a cow, and getting your name forever in a granite monument is just part of what makes the Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl a do-not-miss race for fans and competitors."

 

Defending Milk Bowl Champion Eddie "The Outlaw" MacDonald leads the field of challengers. MacDonald is fresh off a victory in the Bond Auto ACT Invitational at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and will try to become the fifth driver to win back-to-back Milk Bowls.

 

A number of other former Milk Bowl winners will try and add another entry to the record books. Three-time Milk Bowl Champion Brian Hoar of Williston; Hudson, NH's Joey Polewarczyk Jr.; Barre's Nick Sweet; and Graniteville's John Donahue are all expected.

 

Meanwhile a host of drivers will try to become the 36th different winner of "the toughest short-track stock car race in North America." Top ACT racers such as Windham, ME's Brad Babb and Blainville, QC's Jonathan Bouvrette have entered the Milk Bowl, while multi-time Thunder Road weekly winners including Trampas Demers, Mike Bailey, and Matt White look to put their home-track advantage to good use.

 

Invaders such as former Beech Ridge Motor Speedway Champion Dave Farrington Jr. and newly crowned Devil's Bowl Speedway Champion Josh Masterson will try to upset the status quo. Even top Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen drivers Jason Woodard and Stephen Donahue have joined the fray and will make their first Thunder Road Late Model attempts.

 

The Milk Bowl is known for its format which promotes no-holds-barred racing from the first green flag. The event consists of three 50-lap segments, with the starting grid for the second and third segments set by inverting the finish from the previous segment. Drivers receive one point for first, two points for second, and so forth in each segment. The driver with the lowest combined score is the winner.

 

The two-day event kicks off at 1:30pm on Saturday, October 10 with Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Qualifying Day. Time trials and "Triple 50" qualifying races will help set the 30-car Milk Bowl starting field. The Bond Auto Tiger Sportsmen and Allen Lumber Street Stocks will also hold time trials and the first segments of their Mini Milk Bowls.

 

The Last Chance "B" Feature rolls onto the track at 12:15pm on Sunday, October 11. Opening ceremonies for the 53rd Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl will follow.

CHARLOTTE, NC (October 7) – Due to the recent historic floods in South Carolina and this weekend's impending forecast for the area, Pro All Stars Series (PASS) officials have cancelled this Saturday night's Bash At The Beach II at Myrtle Beach Speedway for the PASS South Super Late Models.  Officials have been monitoring the recent flooding in the area around Myrtle Beach Speedway and, due to the high probability of rain currently forecasted for Saturday, have decided that its in everyone's best interest to cancel the event at this point.  Furthermore, conditions are expected to deteriorate in Horry County, especially in nearby Conway, due to the flooding of the Waccamaw River.  An estimated 11 trillion gallons of water have fallen in the state of South Carolina over the last week.

"The events in South Carolina over the last week have really been hard to watch and are thoughts are with everyone down there," said PASS President Tom Mayberry.  "Despite our best efforts to try and make this race happen, the weather doesn't look like it will cooperate.  As the flooding continues and with many roads either closed are washed out, we feel like its best in the interest of safety to cancel this weekend's activities."

Next up for PASS will be return of "The Howler" to Greenville-Pickens Speedway on Saturday, October 24.  This will be the final event of the PASS National Championship series for the Super Late Models, while the PASS Pro Late Models, Renegades and Front Wheel Drive divisions will fill out the remainder of the racing card.  Entry forms and the complete weekend schedule will soon be posted at ProAllStarsSeries.com

Samantha Shaw Secures a Seat for the Autumn Colours Classic Young Guns Showcase

Short track racing has always been about catching a break. Being in the right spot at the right time to gain a position in the running order, or landing a ride instead of watching the action from the sidelines.

 

With Peterborough Speedway's 23rdAnnual Autumn Colours Classic – presented by Lucas Oil Products – on the horizon, Samantha Shaw will make the starting line-up in the Mini Stock edition APC Auto Parts Young Guns Showcase. The 20 year-old – who is attending the University of Waterloo and studying to be a veterinarian – will wheel Danny Benedict's #54 Mustang in the inaugural spotlight event for drivers 21 or younger. Car owner and crew chief Doug Benedict says putting the former Sunset Speedway regular is a win-win situation for the team.

 

"While he's eligible to run the event himself, Danny will be making the trek from Ottawa – where he's attending classes at Algonquin College – late Friday afternoon and wouldn't get much seat time," said Benedict. "Sam has been one of the team's biggest cheerleaders throughout the year and although she ran a limited schedule this season, she had a main event win in 2014 so we're confident that she can get the job done."

 

Benedict says Shaw will practice the car and provide feedback on whatever changes need to be made prior to the first round of qualifying for the Mini Stock division. In many ways, the chance to run the Young Guns Showcase will be a way to say 'thanks' for helping the team through a tight spot while their regular driver is in transit from the Nation's Capital. 

 

"Danny had a great season, finishing just outside of the top 5 in the final standings at Sunset, but it all started with an opening night feature win at Peterborough," said Doug Benedict. "This has long been one of our favourite events on the schedule, so we're hoping for a strong run and are happy to have Samantha's help to get the car ready."

Waterbury, VT – The American Racer Three Star program is designed to recognize three teams in no particular order of performance that had outstanding races at American-Canadian Tour (ACT) U.S. Tour events. There are no specific criteria for deciding who might receive the award of a free American Racer Tire (value $125.00), but a special effort by a team, exceptional race, just plain old hard luck, or any other accepted reason is used to decide the award recipients.

 

The Three Stars are chosen by ACT officials and will receive certificates for use of a free American Racer tire at a race of their choosing during the 2015 season.

 

AIRBORNE PARK SPEEDWAY

FALL FOLIAGE 200

 

The 41st Annual Fall Foliage 200 at Plattsburgh, NY's Airborne Park Speedway is perennially a grueling affair that nonetheless is seldom decided until the final laps. The 2015 edition was no exception. The drama began just 34 laps into the event when Hudson, NH's Joey Polewarczyk Jr. suffered a broken shock mount while leading, dealing a crushing blow to his bid to repeat as ACT U.S. Champion. Meanwhile, Quebers Dany Trépanier and Jean-François Déry were duking it out from the get-go for the Série ACT Q.C. Championship in their season finale.

 

After the top dogs positioned themselves in the first ¾ of the event, the final 50 laps were some of the hardest-fought of the 2015 ACT season. Alex Labbé, Patrick Laperle, Nick Sweet, and Brian Hoar all took turns at the front, with the leaders running side-by-side for numerous circuits. Hoar eventually inherited the win after Laperle was found to be in violation of ACT's shock rule, but memories of the thrilling duel will remain. Behind the lead quartet, a number of other drivers had outstanding efforts in their own right, and there were several deserving candidates for the American Racer Three Star Awards. The winners for the Fall Foliage 200 are:

 

*Dany Trépanier, St-Edouard, QC – #19QC –The 2015 season was one to remember for Dany Trépanier and his Construction JC-7 team. Trépanier finished second in the 2014 Série ACT point standings, and entered his sixth season with the Tour with a new car from Crazy Horse Racing and the determination to win his first title. Entering the Série ACT season finale at Airborne he held a 30-point lead over 2013 Champion Jean-François Déry on the strength of one win and eight top-5 finishes.

 

Trépanier knew entering the event he had to look at the big picture; one wrong move could cost him the prize he had worked all season for. After starting 18th, Trépanier drove a clean, smart race. He worked his way into the top-10 by lap 60 and ran there most of the event, eventually finishing ninth. Coupled with Déry's eighth-place result, it was more than enough to secure the Série ACT crown. ACT congratulates Trépanier and his team, and they receive a Star Award for knowing the situation and doing exactly what they needed to clinch their title.

 

*Brandon Atkins, Au Sable Forks, NY – #4NY – The Fall Foliage 200 was the first event at Airborne since the death of Leon Gonyo, a veteran of racing for more than 40 years and a staple of Airborne for the past decade. In tribute to his fallen idol, Brandon Atkins carried yellow #4's on his car at Airborne just as he did the previous week at New Hampshire Motor Speedway.

 

Atkins started last in his heat and was moving forward when an incident with Gaetan Gaudreault left him with heavy right-side damage. After making repairs Atkins again started last in the main event – and again rocketed to the front. The Northline Utilities Dodge entered the top-10 on lap 84 and cracked the top-5 on lap 151. Although the drive didn't leave Atkins with enough car to challenge the leaders, his fifth-place finish was his best of 2015 and positioned him to potentially finish as high as fourth in the final standings. Atkins receives his ACT-high fourth Star Award of the season for a stellar day that continues his late-season push.

 

*Brad Babb, Windham, ME – #15NH – Over the course of the 2015 season, seeing Brad Babb in contention at an ACT event has gone from a pleasant surprise to an expectation. It's now a shock when they struggle – which is how his day began at Airborne. Babb was unable to break out of the pack in qualifying and was relegated to the 20th starting position for the Fall Foliage 200. To compound matters, an "accordion effect" a dozen laps into the event resulted in a puckered nose on his Joey Laquerre–owned Ford.

 

But Babb has faced adversity before this season, and he's always bounced back. He did so again on Saturday, staying on the lead lap through a pair of long green-flag runs and readying for the final sprint. Babb then took advantage of three late restarts and sliced to a final sixth-place finish. He is now all but assured of finishing third in the final ACT Tour standings, which surpasses almost everyone's expectations entering the season. The team receives its third Star Award of 2015 and is already on the short list of title contenders for 2016.

 

The cars and stars of ACT now head to Thunder Road Speedbowl for the 53rd Annual Northfield Savings Bank Milk Bowl. Booth Bros./H.P. Hood Qualifying Day on Saturday, October 10 at 1:30pm will feature time trials and "Triple 50" qualifying races to help set the 30-car starting field. The first segment of the historic event rolls to the grid at 1:00pm on Sunday, October 11.

Montréal, le 5 octobre – Rapide lors de sa course de qualification, Alex Labbé partait de la quatrième place sur la grille à bord de sa Ford no48 VR Victoriaville/Larue Motorsport pour les 200 tours du Airborne Speedway, un beau circuit de 0,8 km avec ses virages relevés. Après une fin de course serrée au possible, Alex s'est mérité la troisième place derrière deux pilotes américains.

Alex Labbé aime courir à Airborne : « La piste est bien relevée dans les virages, ce qui permet de rouler à deux de large sans perdre de vitesse. On peut alors tirer avantage d'une meilleure tenue de route de sa voiture ou d'une petite erreur de l'autre pour le doubler à l'intérieur ou à l'extérieur. » Avec 29 pilotes au départ, la course promettait beaucoup d'action dans le peloton comme lorsque les meneurs prenaient un tour aux pilotes plus lents.

Parti 4e, le pilote de Saint-Albert se maintenait en 3e place puis en 2e place du 34e au 151e tour. À la relance, les quatre premiers ont roulé côte à côte pendant au moins 20 tours, avec Labbé en deuxième ligne, à l'extérieur puis à l'intérieur, toujours dans la roue des deux premiers qui occupaient toute la largeur de la piste. Malheureusement, la voiture devint alors de plus en plus sous-vireuse. « J'ai alors ajouté du freinage aux roues arrière pour réduire la charge de travail des pneus avant en entrée de virage. Et à environ dix tours de la fin, j'avais trop envoyé de freinage à l'arrière et j'ai fait un petit travers, juste assez pour que le pilote à ma droite passe devant moi, me laissant 4e à l'arrivée. » L'exclusion du vainqueur lors de l'inspection officielle d'après-course a ensuite donné la 3e place à Alex au final.

Labbé et l'équipe VR Victoriaville/Larue Motorsport sera en piste samedi et dimanche prochain, le 10 octobre pour les essais et la qualification, et dimanche 11 octobre pour la course en trois tranches de 100 tours du Thunder Road Milk Bowl, sur le petit ovale avec bol relevé de Barre (Vermont). Les qualifications du samedi comprennent des tours chronométrés et trois courses de 50 tours pour déterminer la grille de départ du premier 100 tours du dimanche. Le dimanche, on inverse l'ordre d'arrivée du premier 100 tours pour déterminer la grille pour le second, et les résultats du second pour déterminer la grille du troisième 100 tours. Le pilote qui a accumulé le plus petit total de positions aux trois arrivées est déclaré vainqueur, et la position à l'arrivée du troisième 100 tours brise toute égalité au final d'une course toujours spectaculaire.

Jason Morand remporte le Challenge 200

Alors que septembre sonne le glas de la saison du "Stock-Car" à l'Autodrome St-Eustache, octobre quant à lui, représente la fête des "Chauffeurs du dimanche". En ce 4 octobre ensoleillé, ce fut toutefois deux "Chauffeurs du samedi" qui auront occupé les premières marches du podium de ce premier de deux "Enduro" qui concluront la saison de courses 2015 de l'ASE.

Tout près de 70 voitures de 4 cylindres auront pris le départ du "Challenge 200", de ce nombre, 25 auront survécu à l'épreuve, ainsi qu'à la médecine imposée par leurs maitres. Si tout au long de la journée plusieurs semblaient prétendre aux grands honneurs, c'est toutefois Jason Morand #59, qui sera parvenu à ménager suffisamment mécanique et pneus, pour se mériter une troisième victoire en carrière dans ce type d'épreuve.

Keven Huet Ouellet #05, un régulier de l'ASE en série "Challenge-4", aura croisé le fil d'arrivée en deuxième position, alors que Mario Brunet #90 s'empare de la dernière marche du podium. Yannick Miron #94, vice champion 2015 en série "Nascar Sport-Compacte MRQ", ainsi que Maxime Taillefer #144 complète quant à eux le "Top-5".

Airborne Park Speedway Ownership Group Places Plattsburgh Track for Sale

PLATTSBURGH, NY – Airborne Park Speedway's ownership group has announced that the Plattsburgh, NY facility is available for sale or lease. The move comes following a mutual agreement between owners Steve Fuller, Jamie Atkins, and Mike Bruno.

Bruno, the managing partner, will step down from his position effective November 15, 2015; media director Justin St. Louis and marketing director Dick Therrien will do the same. Airborne Park Speedway recently completed its 62nd season and operated under sanction from the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series in 2015. Plans for a weekly competition format and schedule in 2016 are not presently known, though stock car special events and competition go-kart racing plans are under development.

An automotive and racing equipment swap meet and car show on Sunday, October 25 will continue as planned. The Airborne Park Speedway 2015 Banquet of Champions will also go on as scheduled, to be held on Saturday, November 14, at the Rainbow Wedding and Banquet Hall in Altona, NY.

For the ownership parties, increasing commitments to family and other business interests factored into the decision; all three members also own and manage separate businesses. Fuller owns and operates Fuller Excavating in Keeseville, NY and the Harmony Golf Club in Port Kent, NY; Atkins owns and operates Northline Utilities in Au Sable Forks, NY and manages an American-Canadian Tour Late Model racing team for his son and driver, Brandon Atkins; and Bruno owns and operates three Bruno's Towing & Auto Repair facilities in Rutland County, VT and Devil's Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT.

Fuller purchased Airborne Park Speedway in 2007 and made major facility improvements including the construction of two VIP suite towers and a new track surface. "I'm encouraged by the progress that the track made in 2015 and I want to see it continue to thrive as a race track in the future," Fuller said. "Mike Bruno and the team that ran the track this year proved to me that racing will absolutely still work as a business, and they have left Airborne in a much better place than it has been in for many years."

Atkins, a former racer, became part of the Airborne Park Speedway ownership group in 2009. "We met or exceeded every goal that we set together this year and we saw many positive indicators for the future of racing at Airborne," he said. "This decision has more to do with time than anything else. Airborne turned a big corner in 2015 and became financially viable for the first time in many years, and that is due to the efforts of Mike Bruno and the staff that he put in place this past year. Now it is important that we select the right person or group to come into Airborne and keep the racing tradition alive and bring the venue to the next level."

Bruno, a former champion driver at Airborne, joined the ownership group and was named the track's general manager in November 2014. "We all love Airborne and this decision has been hard on all of us, but there came a point when reality set in," Bruno said. "I am very proud of what we accomplished in 2015, but at the same time none of us want to sacrifice time with our families or turn our attention away from our own separate businesses. Our internal conversations about this started a while ago, but I think that the recent passing of racer Leon Gonyo only strengthened our desire to spend more time closer to home."

The current ownership group agrees that it is important for a new prospective owner or leaseholder to operate Airborne Park Speedway as a stock car racing facility with a local focus. The facility is available for sale, lease, or event-ready rental.

"Plattsburgh loves racing, and the people of the North Country have been devoted to Airborne for more than 60 years," Fuller said. "The race teams, sponsors, and fans have been our biggest supporters, and we did not want to leave any of them guessing about our roles at Airborne for the future. It was important for us to be honest with them about this decision as early in the off-season as possible."
