En 2011, Dumoulin a participé aux trois dernières courses sur circuit ovale (Barrie, Ont – Antigonish, N.-S. – Kawartha, Ont.) au volant d'une voiture modifiée et très peu adaptée pour ce genre d'épreuve. Avec un début de saison prometteur, deux top-5 en deux courses sur circuit routier (CTMP et ICAR), le Québécois souligne que « la préparation spécifique de la voiture d'ovale n°47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare sera l'opportunité d'optimiser la technique propre à ce type de piste ». Le surfaçage des pistes étant différent d'un circuit à l'autre, la surface en asphalte du Mosport Speedway est reconnue comme étant un des circuits les plus rapides au Canada. L'inclinaison dans les virages permet de conserver une vitesse élevée en courbe, nécessitant des qualités de pilotage différentes de celles sur circuit routier et les dépassements sont beaucoup plus fréquents. De plus, l'épreuve se déroule en début de soirée nécessitant ajustements et stratégie adaptés. « Il faut constamment gérer l'inclinaison de la piste, la vitesse élevée et nous freinons moins souvent. Une erreur peut nous être fatale et provoquer un accident. Je suis excité et j'ai vraiment hâte d'être en piste au volant de la voiture d'ovale de haut calibre n°47 WeatherTech Canada / Bellemare », mentionne la Recrue de l'année 2011 en série NASCAR Canadian Tire. Vingt-deux pilotes ont confirmé leur participation au Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Mosport Speedway – 200 tours ̴ 160 km). Louis-Philippe Dumoulin prendra le départ à bord de la voiture WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare nº47 (Qualifications : 17h10 à 17h30 – Course : 19h). The beginning of a promising season with two top-5 on two road course circuits (CTMP and ICAR), the Quebecer underlines that « the specific preparation of the n°47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare oval car will be the optimal opportunity to learn the techniques required for this type of circuit ». The track surfaces vary from one to another, the Mosport Speedway asphalt has a reputation for being one of the fastest tracks in Canada. The inclination in the corners allows cars to reach higher speeds resulting in a lot more position changes, requiring a driving technique different than that on road circuits. Furthermore, the event will take place in the evening requiring adjustments and strategic adaptations. « We constantly have to manage the tracks' inclination, higher speeds and less braking. A single mistake can provoke an accident and can be fatal. Twenty-two drivers confirmed their participation at the Canadian Tire Motorsports Park (Mosport Speedway – 200 laps ̴ 160 km). Louis-Philippe Dumoulin is scheduled to start the race in the WeatherTech Canada/Bellemare car nº47 (Qualifications : 5:10 to 5:30 pm – Race : 7pm).
