MCCULLOUGH BROTHERS STILL UNSTOPPABLE
July 14, 2012 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Delaware, ON) - Derek McCullough (#38) of Glencoe took the win in the 150-lap GAW Recycling Enduro race Saturday evening at Delaware Speedway. Derek's brother, David McCullough (#39) of Glencoe had been a strong contender in the event first taking the lead on lap 74 from Barry Watson (#45) of West Lorne. Watson rallied back to retake the lead on lap 77 only to have it snatched away again by McCullough on lap 90. Watson retook the lead on lap 109 when David was involved in a turn one crash which also claimed top-runner Steve Lovie (#141) of Dutton who had been running third. From there, Shawn Fucile (#32) of London and David's brother Derek fought it out for the finish with Derek taking the lead for the final time on lap 117. The race contained four red flags. The McCullough Brothers have earned the nickname "unstoppable" since between the duo has won every GAW Recycling Enduro event this season. |
The evening, sponsored by GAW Recycling in support of Teen Challenge Farm Canada opened with a special ladies only Bone Stock Chaos Car Race. The idea for the event came from the racers of the division who wanted to hand the keys over to the important women in their lives. Tania Moesker (#51) of Beachville won the 10-lap race, starting from the back after nearly missing the initial start of the race. Jordan Morris (#73) won the Bonestock Chaos Car 25-Lap feature, his second win of the season. Shane Thomas (#8), winner of the previous event on June 16 took second place and Kris Lawrence (#15x) was third. The event was hard fought at the beginning and had one red flag for a crash in turn one in the opening laps. This Wednesday at 8:00 pm is the APC Summer Showdown, featuring NASCAR Superstars Travis Pastrana, Clint Bowyer and Michael Waltrip. They will be going head to head with local drivers in the FT Garage Late Model series. This race is one of the most anticipated racing events of the year. Fans are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets online in advance. While tickets will be available at the door, the only way to guarantee entry is to have a ticket in hand.
