WHAT THEY ARE SAYING

EMILY PACKARD, Driver of the No. 9x Northstar Fireworks/Berlin Optical Expressions Chevrolet, On heading to Devil's Bowl Speedway this weekend: “I'm super-excited. The corners are so tight there, that it really is a driver's track. Some of it is the car, obviously, but some what makes you good there you have to work on yourself as a driver. It's a fast track, and I really, really like the fast tracks.

“I think the difference in traffic is a big thing at these faster tracks – you have a lot more time to complete a pass. At a track like Thunder Road, you almost need two laps to complete a pass just because of the way the place races. At a place like Devil's Bowl, with more speed and and more room, you can complete the same pass in half a lap. Definitely my driving style works really well with the track.”

On the confidence her Top-10 run in an ACT Late Model Tour race at Devil's Bowl gave her: “It was really good. We worked the wheels off that car in the race, picking cars off one by one coming up through the field. We were Top-10 in practice all day, and we got up to as high as fifth, I think. That was great. It was a real confidence-booster.”

On being at one of her favorite tracks: “I'm super-excited. We definitely gained a lot of confidence running with these guys earlier this year. Going to Devil's Bowl, given how we've been able to be strong there in some of the races we ran last year, too, I really feel like we have a chance to be good at the finish again.”
