Mathieu, Rémy... et François Audette en action cette saison !

 

Blainville (Québec), le 4 mai 2015.– Après avoir remporté neuf des quatorze courses de la saison 2014 dans le Championnat Touring Car canadien (CTCC), l'équipe Audette racing sera de retour dans la série cette saison, avec la présence pour un programme partiel de Mathieu Audette, aux commandes de l'Acura RSX Portes Dimensions/Novatech, son frère Rémy avec sa Honda Civic Si et un petit nouveau : leur père, François Audette, qui effectue ainsi son grand retour à la compétition et sera aux commandes d'une Porsche Cayman S flambant neuve !

 

N'ayant plus couru en circuit routier depuis 1993, François Audette avait repris le volant, pour le plaisir, l'an dernier au Circuit Mont-Tremblant lors de la Classique d'automne. Aux commandes de la RSX de son fils aîné Mathieu, il s'était qualifié deuxième de sa catégorie, de quoi lui redonner goût à la compétition. « J'ai à nouveau eu la piqûre l'an dernier et l'idée de préparer une Porsche Cayman S pour disputer le CTCC a fait son chemin depuis » explique François Audette qui, à 68 ans, est fin prêt pour débuter la saison, le 16 mai prochain en Ontario. « Je vais y aller course par course. J'ai testé la voiture récemment au Circuit ICAR à Mirabel et j'ai eu besoin de prendre mes marques, trouver l'adhérence, etc. Bref, faire fusion avec l'auto, qui est totalement nouvelle mais est très performante » confie François Audette. « J'ai bien hâte d'être à Mosport, un circuit que j'adore, pour disputer ma première course officielle en plus de vingt ans ! » ajoute-t-il.

 

La Porsche Cayman S de l'équipe Audette Racing portera le numéro 37. Elle dispose d'un moteur de 3,4 litres de cylindrée développant environ 300 CV et qui portera, tout comme les voitures de Mathieu et Rémy Audette, les couleurs de Portes Dimensions et des partenaires associés à la compagnie québécoise et à son programme de course.

 

Pour François Audette, les objectifs sont multiples à l'aube de cette nouvelle saison : « Je veux d'abord terminer mes courses, idéalement dans le "Top 10" en classe Super Touring. J'ai l'ambition de finir entre la cinquième et la dixième place au championnat, mais surtout éviter de me mettre dans le trouble, je veux disputer des courses sans incident. C'est ainsi qu'on prend du plaisir et qu'on récolte de bons résultats ! » indique-t-il.

 

L'équipe Audette Racing engagera deux voitures pour les deux premières courses de la saison, sur le circuit de Mosport (Canadian Tire Motorsport Park) situé à l'est de Toronto, , les 16 et 17 mai prochains. Outre la Porsche Cayman S pilotée par François Audette, Mathieu sera aux commandes de son Acura RSX portant le numéro 12. Rémy Audette fera quant à lui l'impasse sur ce premier rendez-vous. 

 

« La dernière fois que j'ai débuté la saison à Mosport, c'était en 2013 et j'avais connu un week-end parfait, remportant les deux courses » indique Mathieu Audette, qui affiche sa confiance pour démarrer la saison 2015 : « notre Acura RSX Portes Dimensions/Novatech a toujours été rapide sur ce tracé. Je vise à nouveau la victoire, bien que j'ai seulement repris en main la voiture ces jours-ci, pour une petite séance d'essais au Circuit ICAR » précise Mathieu Audette, qui disputera une saison partielle en CTCC (classe Super Touring également).

 

Sept programmes doubles composent la saison 2015 de CTCC, quatre en Ontario en trois au Québec. 

 

L'équipe Audette Racing bénéficie de l'appui de Portes Dimensions, Novatech, Soniplastics,  Verre Select, OPM, Omnitech, Extrucan, Robover, Milette Portes, Mec-Inov, Boulanger et Amusements Spectaculaires.

3 filles et 3 nouvelles recrues en STR en 2015 !!

La course automobile a souvent été considérée comme un sport de gars, mais il faut avouer que dans les dernières années on a clairement vu une vague de changement qui nous a démontré que les filles peuvent tirer leur épingle du jeu. La série REVSTAR n'en fait pas exception, alors que l'an dernier on a vu Josianne Plante aller chercher 2 victoires. Maintenant que Josianne a fait le saut en Sportsman, qui sera en mesure de la remplacer? Pas moins de 3 prétendantes en 2015 chez les STR, du jamais vue ! 2 des ces filles seront en liste pour le titre de recrue de l'année en compagnie d'un jeune pilote de 14 ans qui sera sans aucun doute à surveiller. Les voici :

 


Isabelle Manny

Isabelle vient d'une vrai famille de course, alors que son père André et son frère Patrick sont des réguliers en STR depuis quelques années maintenant. Elle a déjà effectué quelques courses abord d'une voiture STR, mais 2015 sera sa première saison à temps plein, donc elle sera une des candidates pour le titre de recrue de l'année. Isabelle a connu beaucoup de succès en Slingshot avec 3 championnats à son actif, mais voilà que maintenant elle suit les traces de la famille en STR. Ce sera bien intéressant des les voir à l'œuvre en 2015.

 


Sabrina Blanchet

Sabrina Blanchet en sera à sa deuxième saison complète en STR et elle semble gonflée à bloc afin de prendre sa place parmi les meneurs de la série. Multiple championne de Motoneige, Sabrina est une fille qui adore la vitesse et qui n'a définitivement pas froid aux yeux. Il ne faudrait pas la sous-estimée en 2015, elle est une habituée du cercle des vainqueurs.

 


Stéphanie Ratté

La 3e fille cette année en STR est nul autre que Stéphanie Ratté, une autre candidate pour le titre de recrue de l'année en 2015. Stéphanie ne possède que quelques tours de pistes d'expérience au volant d'un STR, mais elle se dit prête à relever le défi qui l'attend. Provenant du Karting, Stéphanie n'est pas étrangère à la vitesse et donc elle viendra rendre la lutte au titre de recrue des plus intéressantes.

 

Antoine Parent

Il ne faudrait également pas passer sous silence le 3e prétendant au titre de recrue de l'année, Antoine Parent. Âgé de 14 ans seulement, Antoine ne cesse de surprendre, lui qui a remporté une victoire l'an dernier en catégorie Slingshot. Il est voué à un très bel avenir en course automobile et ce sera un privilège de le voir à l'œuvre abord d'un STR en 2015.

PLATTSBURGH, NY – Airborne Park Speedway played before a huge grandstand crowd to open its 62nd annual season of stock car racing on FedEx Ground Night on Saturday, May 2, and the hometown fans cheered their champion, Nick Heywood, to the biggest victory of his career. The three-time defending champ in the J&S Steel Modified division of the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series presented by Yandow Sales & Service and John Deere led every circuit of the 100-lap race, but his win was never guaranteed.

Heywood started on the pole position for the 21-car main event by virtue of a random draw of the top 12 qualifiers. He and Greg Atkins stretched their legs in the first half of the race as the balance of the top 10 dazzled the crowd with constant passing. Bucko Branham, Jason Durgan, and Codie Aubin each put on a show coming from the back of the field as veterans Leon Gonyo, Mike Wells, and Vince Quenneville Jr. mixed it up with rookies Danny Sullivan and Timex Morgan in a clean but physical battle. Bids for Gonyo and Wells ended in mechanical failures and a flat tire eventually put an end to Sullivan's notable debut.

Atkins was consistent, but Branham was Heywood's biggest threat. Branham gave up his ninth starting spot and nearly missed the start of the FedEx Ground 100 after changing a water pump at the last minute, and was forced to start last and thread his way through traffic. Branham was running in second place and was virtually dead even with Heywood with a handful of laps remaining, but was bitten his own pre-race prophesy that fuel mileage would be a factor as his tank ran dry.

A green-white-checker restart on lap 98 gave Clintonville, NY driver Atkins one final chance and made the leader sweat it out, but Heywood pulled into victory lane. His win earned him the $150 Lenny's Shoe & Apparel "Hot Shoe Challenge" bonus, a tool kit from Ingersoll Rand Power Tools, and the early lead in the seven-race Yandow Sales & Service/John Deere "Spring Championship Series" which moves to Devil's Bowl Speedway in West Haven, VT on Saturday, May 9.

Atkins took the runner-up spot, while Morrisonville, NY's Durgan – who made a pit stop during a caution period near the halfway point – came out on top of hot battle for third with Brandon, VT driver Quenneville. Aubin overcame fuel pressure issues and a 14th-place starting position to take fifth. Morgan was a solid sixth ahead of Jayson Criss and Chris Frennier. Branham was penalized to ninth place as the final car on the lead lap after jumping the final restart. Quebec's Eric Lauziere finished rounded out the top 10.

Bobby Therrien of Hinesburg, VT picked up where he left off last year in the Ground Round Late Models, winning that division's 25-lap feature race. A short field still produced good racing as Therrien, Jamie Fisher, Josh Masterson, and Todd Stone diced for the lead. Therrien eventually cleared Masterson after a side-by-side fight to take the win. Masterson, Stone, Fisher, and Kevin Boutin Jr. were the top five.

Richie Turner of Fairfax, VT buried the field to win the 25-lap opener for the Key R-D Trailer Sales Renegade division in his first start for Randy Howard's Premier Paving team. Defending champion Robert Gordon, also a Premier Paving-sponsored driver was forced to settle for second. Shawn Duquette came from 11thstarting position to take third, followed by Jim McKiernan and Jimmy Bushey.

Tyler Irwin of Peru, NY started his sophomore season with a popular career-first victory in the 15-lap Busch Beer Mini Modified feature. Irwin saw his sizeable lead erased by a late caution flag, and then was forced to hold off the field at the finish. Pete Blaney, Dale O'Neil, and Tim LaFountain grabbed positions 2-4, while Eddie Bresette was a career-best fifth.

Airborne Park Speedway returns to action on Saturday, May 16 as Bill McBride Chevrolet and Interstate Batteries bring the American-Canadian Tour's famed "Spring Green" event home to Plattsburgh. The event kicks off the ACT Late Model Québec Triple Crown Series and is expected to draw an invasion of racers and fans from La Belle Province. The Québec-based ProCam Super Trucks will also be in action, along with Airborne's regular Modified, Renegade, and Mini Modified classes. Racing will begin at 6:00 p.m.

Barre, VT—Brad Babb came into the season looking for his first career American-Canadian Tour victory. He and his Joey Laquerre–owned team earned it in perhaps the most dramatic way possible on Sunday, May 3.

Babb took the lead from Scott Dragon with 18 laps to go and went on to win the Merchants Bank 150 at Barre, VT's Thunder Road. The win came following a pre-race tribute to Laquerre's late grandson Joey M. Laquerre, leading to an emotional celebration in Victory Lane.

"I just can't believe we won at Thunder Road," Windham, ME's Babb said. "It means the world to me. I can't even describe it. This is 100% for Lil Joey. I couldn't do it without Big Joey."

"It's beyond words," the elder Laquerre added. "We're so excited about it. It's duly needed. If Lil Joey was here, he'd be very proud."

Two-time defending "King of the Road" Derrick O'Donnell starting on the pole and lead 25 of the first 26 laps, with ACT Tour point Leader Wayne Helliwell Jr. nosing ahead for a single circuit following a lap 5 restart. However, O'Donnell fell off the pace following the race's second and final restart on lap 26 with an apparent suspension problem and retired soon after.

Milton, VT's Dragon came to life on the same restart and swung around Helliwell's outside to take the lead on lap 33, only to see Graniteville, VT's Chip Grenier perform the same move on him seven laps later. Grenier darted out to a big lead, but lapped traffic helped to make it a four car race between Grenier, Dragon, Helliwell, and Babb.

Grenier, who had been rim-riding the outside, slipped up in turns 1 and 2 on lap 108 and allowed Dragon to retake the lead. Babb followed through soon after and methodically tracked down Dragon, eventually getting underneath him for the win. Babb also became the first driver to claim the Bond Auto Parts New Champions "Breakout Award" for winning an event and unofficially took the lead in the New Champions point standings.

Helliwell caught Dragon in the final laps for second, while Dragon settled for third. Joey Polewarczyk Jr., Grenier, Emily Packard, Brandon Atkins, Travis Stearns, Tyler Cahoon, and Cody Blake rounded out the top-10.

Christopher Pelkey scored a dominating victory in the Bond Auto Tiger Sportsman feature. The S. Barre, VT driver started on the pole and was never seriously challenged in the 35-lap event en route to his fifth career Tiger win.

Former Champion "Double-O" Joe Steffen finished second, with Mike Martin in third. Doug Crownshield inherited the fourth spot after Camoron Ouellette was disqualified for a suspension violation. Caleb Nelson, Dylan Payea, Eric Johnson, Jason Woodard, Stephen Donahue, and Jeffrey Bousquet completed the top-10.

Tyler Austin scored his second career victory in the 25-lap Allen Lumber Street Stock feature. Austin, sporting a paint scheme in tribute to Joey M. Laquerre, took the lead early and drove away to the win. Patrick Tibbetts finished second, followed by Gary Mullen, Jamon Perry, Brandon Gray, Jaden Perry, Donny Yates, David Whitcomb, Chris LaForest, and Alan Maynard.

The ACT Tour has a week off before heading to Airborne Park Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY on Saturday, May 16 for the Spring Green 115. Post time is 5:00pm. Thunder Road returns to action on Sunday, May 24 for the 53rd Annual Mekkelsen RV Memorial Day Classic, featuring a 100-lap event for the Thunder Road Late Models and a 150-lap event for the Pro All Star Series Super Late Models. Post time that day will be 1:30pm.

C'est le dimanche 3 mai dernier, sans contredit la plus belle journée depuis le début de l'année, que se déroulait le traditionnel Enduro 200, événement qui marque le début de la saison du circuit ovale de l'Autodrome St-Eustache.

Près d'une soixantaine de pilotes prenaient le départ de l'épreuve d'endurance de 200 tours qui avait lieu devant les yeux de nombreux amateurs réunis sous un soleil radieux.

Jean-François Bouvrette, champion NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil du Québec 2014 et spécialiste de ce genre d'épreuve avec plusieurs victoires à son actif, s'élançait de la 12e position pour le départ de l'Enduro 200. Dès le 12e passage, Bouvrette #20 s'empare de la position de commande aux dépens de Vincent Fournier #120 qui la détenait depuis le 2e tour.

Au 86e tour, les officiels déploient un drapeau rouge suite à un incident sur la piste et le vétéran pilote de St-Jérôme décide de sortir de piste pour ravitailler sa Camaro #20. Alors que son plus proche poursuivant, Michel Brunet #91, n'a pas encore franchi la ligne départ/arrivée, Bouvrette profite de l'avantage de sa position sur la piste et déploie sa stratégie d'arrêt aux puits. Il revient en piste lors de la relance et graduellement, tour après tour, remonte le peloton et parvient à rejoindre le meneur au 152e tour. C'est à ce moment que JF Bouvrette récupère la position de commande des mains de Michel Brunet, position qu'il lui avait concédée au 86e passage. Jean-François Bouvrette demeurera en tête jusqu'au déploiement du drapeau quadrillé de fin d'épreuve.

C'est ainsi que le policier de St-Jérôme récolte la victoire devant Michel Brunet #91 de Blainville et Mathieu Gauthier #55 de Lac Carré. Kevin Huet #05 de Ste-Sophie et Maxime Pelletier #66 de Mascouche complètent le top-5.

Les nombreux spectateurs présents ont eu droit à un Enduro 200 qui s'est déroulé sans incident majeur et à un rythme endiablé avec un temps de course inférieur à 1h45.

Prochain rendez-vous, le samedi 23 mai prochain, pour l'ouverture de la saison NASCAR 2015 de l'Autodrome St-Eustache. Plus de 6 divisions seront en piste lors de cette soirée, notamment la Série ACT et la division NASCAR Sportsman Lucas Oil.

Nous sommes à quelques jours du début de saison à l'Autodrome Drummond puisque les premiers tours de piste auront lieu le 9 mai prochain en soirée. Ce sera le temps pour certains d'apprivoiser leur nouvelle monture.

 

Débutons par la catégorie reine c'est-à-dire en modifié, le champion de l'Autodrome Drummond en 2015, Steve Bernard a bien l'intention de défendre son titre avec succès. Ce dernier est revenu satisfait de son expérience en Floride en février dernier. En plus du champion de l'an dernier, on se doit de surveiller le champion 2013 David Hébert qui sera avec une nouvelle équipe du côté de Drummond en 2015. Mario Clair et Gino Clair qui ont connu une excellente saison l'an dernier sur le tracé de l'Autodrome Drummond sont également de sérieux candidats. Les pilotes originaires de Drummondville Sébastien Gougeon et Yan Bussière seront également à prendre au sérieux. On doit y ajouter, Claude Brouillard Dominic Dufault, Alan et Clément Therrien, Dany Bilodeau qui peut également se sauver avec les honneurs. Avec un calendrier condensé de 12 programmes comptant pour les points, on se doit d'être constant en évitant les embuches afin de récolter un maximum de points à chacun des programmes.

 

Du côté de la classe sportsman, le champion 2014, Mathieu Desjardins sera de retour pour défendre son titre. En ce début de saison, il demeure le favori, mais tout comme en modifié plusieurs peuvent le surprendre et lui ravir son titre. On peut penser à Guy Ouellette, Martin Pelletier ainsi que la recrue2014, Etienne Cournoyer pour ne nommer que ceux-ci!

 

Comme on peut voir, il y a plusieurs aspirants pour le titre de champion 2015 autant en modifié que du côté de la catégorie sportsman. Bien qu'il y ait des pratiques le 9 mai, on passera aux choses sérieuses le samedi 23 mai prochain pour la soirée découverte alors que chacun va vouloir connaitre un excellent début de saison 2015 à l'Autodrome Drummond.

Barre, VT—The American-Canadian Tour (ACT) will help Barre, VT's Thunder Road open its 56thseason of competition on Sunday, May 3 with the 17th Annual Merchants Bank 150. Wayne Helliwell Jr. will be going for his second straight win in the event, but a host of ACT Tour and local Thunder Road Late Model drivers are looking to take the trophy home.

 

 

 

Dover, NH's Helliwell picked up his first Thunder Road win in last year's Merchants Bank 150, taking the lead using a crossover move on Jimmy Hebert with 16 laps remaining. The two-time ACT Tour Champion became the 11thdifferent winner in 16 editions of the event. Helliwell and his Bruce Bernhardt–owned team come into this year's event with the ACT Tour point lead after their victory in last Sunday's New Hampshire Governor's Cup 150 at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, NH.

 

 

 

"I think it was more luck than anything last year, but we're definitely proud of that win," Helliwell said. "That race is always tough...restarts are really critical. If we can get the car working on the bottom like it was last time, I think we'll have something."

 

 

 

Helliwell will have to contend with New Hamphire rival and defending ACT Tour Champion Joey Polewarczyk Jr. "Joey Pole" sits second in the standings, nine points behind Helliwell, after rallying from a late-race spin at Lee USA. Top Tour runners Jimmy Hebert, Jeff White, Emily Packard, and Brad Babb will also be on hand. Nick Sweet, who ran the first two Tour events for Eric Chase's #40VT team, will be back behind the wheel of his weekly #88VT mount.

 

 

 

Many of the weekly Thunder Road Late Model competitors will be racing as well. Multi-time Champions Derrick O'Donnell, David Pembroke, and Phil Scott all attended an open practice session on Tuesday, April 28 to get their cars dialed in. Local Barre driver Jason Corliss was the first Thunder Road competitor to enter the event, while Brooks Clark, Josh Demers, and Chip Grenier have also filed entries.

 

 

 

The Merchants Bank 150 offers a chance for local racers to take on the stars of the ACT Tour while getting an early start to their season. 2014 Rookie of the Year Eric Badore hopes to use the event as a springboard for a top-five finish in the 2015 point standings.

 

 

 

"I think it's pretty cool to run against Joey Pole, Wayne Helliwell, and all those top runners that are winning on a weekly basis," Badore said. "It's fun to race against them. You can learn a little something different from those guys, because we don't run 150 laps every week."

 

 

 

"It just makes it that much tougher, because the locals run there weekly or have run there for years," Helliwell added. "We come in maybe once or twice a year, so it's definitely tough."

 

 

 

Thunder Road's 56th season-opening weekend begins on Saturday, May 2 with the annual Thunder Road Car Show on Main Street in Barre from 9:00am to 12:00pm, followed by the race car parade up Quarry Hill to the track featuring the Catamount Pipe Band, the "Warpipes of Thunder Road." An open practice session for all divisions will follow and is open to the public. Post time for the Merchants Bank 150 on Sunday, May 3 is 1:00pm. Admission is $25 for adults with kids 12 and under admitted free.

The calendar shows the opening dates are coming up fast, so the father and son race team of Craig and Brandt Graham is quickly working their way through their pre-season checklists.

 

On one side of the Orono, Ontario shop sits the bright orange Dodge Charger that 16 year old Brandt Graham will campaign on the Lucas Oil Sportsman Cup Series. The Clarke High School student will contend for Rookie of the Year Honours on a 7 event schedule that begins Saturday, May 9th at Full Throttle Motor Speedway. Its stable-mate is the red Chevrolet Impala SS Late Model machine that 2013 Peterborough Speedway track champion will campaign in selected starts on the APC Pro Late Model Tour, getting underway Saturday, May 23rd at Sunset Speedway. Craig Graham says it's an exciting time for the team, as each driver begins the 2015 season with a new racing agenda.

 

"It's almost like counting down the days to Christmas morning," explained Graham. "Each of us raced at one track or another throughout our career, but if everything goes according to plan, we'll spend much of the summer months touring throughout the province. As a father and coach, I want to support Brandt as much as possible. There are a couple of conflicting dates on the schedules, so we'll have to see how things play out."

 

Graham says his father in-law Marten Rottine and the crew have been working hard to get both cars ready to make their 2015 debut. Each machine had the bodywork removed so the frame, chassis and suspension components could be checked over. Engines have been freshened and now, everything is being put back together. It's almost like building model cars; just on a much larger scale.

 

"There's a lot going on pretty much any time of the day or night," admitted Graham, who works as Fixed Vehicle Operations Manager at Clarington Hyundai in Bowmanville. "Everything is on pace and we're working smart, not hard. You can't rush through any aspect of a project this detailed. Marten has always been a stickler for making sure things are done a certain way. Our names are over the doors, but he's the one running the show. Neither team would be in a position to even attempt a program like this without an experienced hand taking charge, so we're letting him call the shots."

 

Marketing plans for the new campaign are coming into place, with Oshawa, Ontario's Arcade Pools on board and complimenting returning sponsors Full Circle Automation Inc., J&M Restoration and Collision, Autocare, Hot Rod Swag and Squirrel Head Music. Paint scheme and design work for Craig and Brandt Graham's 2015 efforts are by Mayhew Graphics, with team media and public relations being handled by Clarke Motorsports Communications.

Spencer Davis Eyes PASS South And KOMA Modified Double At Kingsport

CHARLOTTE, NC (April 30) – Tennessee's Kingsport Speedway will see its share of firsts next Friday night as the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models and Pro Late Models make their return to the Volunteer State for the first time since 2012. The Daniel Boone Classic will be the first time PASS has ever raced at the 3/8 mile Kingsport Speedway.  It will also be the first time the PASS South Super Late Models have ever been paired with the KOMA Unwind Modified Madness Series.  PASS South and the KOMA Modifieds will compete in Twin 125's in an event no short track fan will want to miss.

One driver especially looking forward to next Friday night at Kingsport Speedway will be Dawsonville, GA's, Spencer Davis. Davis is a former PASS Pro Late Model winner and had a stellar rookie season in the PASS South Super Late Model division in 2013, finishing second to Jay Fogleman in the final standings.  At Kingsport, Davis will attempt the double, driving his family-owned #129 in the PASS South Super Late Model 125 lapper and piloting the #79 Hillbilly Racing entry in the KOMA Unwind Modified Madness portion of the Daniel Boone Classic.

"I'm very excited to pull the double at Kingsport Speedway with PASS and the KOMA Modified Series," says Davis.  "I've never been to Kingsport, but I have received a lot of information for the upcoming race.  I'm excited to be racing on the concrete surface too."

Kingsport Speedway has a reputation for being equally as tough on drivers as it is on equipment.  For Davis, 250 green flag laps in two of short track racing's most competitive divisions could prove to be a daunting task.  But, it's a challenge the 16-year-old driver welcomes as he looks forward to next Friday night.

"I honestly have no concerns for competing for 250 green flag laps, I'm actually excited too," said a confident Davis.  "I love the longer races and how much strategy goes into them.  And going from one race to another, it will give me enough time to adapt back to the car I am racing."

The PASS South Super Late Models and KOMA Unwind Modifieds provide some of the fastest, most action-packed competition in all of short track racing.  Each car is relatively light weight, with a lot of power and maneuverability for the drivers.  And, while they do share some similarities, Davis says they also have a lot of differences he will have to decipher through at Kingsport.

"From a driver's standpoint, the biggest similarity between the two cars is how they steer, but other than that, they are totally different," say Davis.  "You run different lines with the cars considering the dramatic change in tire size and the power between the Modified and the PASS Super.  The actual interiors of the cars are really different too and also how much lower to the ground you sit with the Modified."

Davis will have his fair share of competition from the PASS South regulars when he races the Super Late Model, including current points leader, Zane Smith, and fellow championship contenders Tate Fogleman, Jody Measamer, and Jimmy Doyle.  Kingsport Speedway veterans Lee Tissot and Wade Day will also present another variable to the PASS regulars as they try to protect their home turf.

Action begins on Friday, May 8  with pit gates opening at Kingsport Speedway at Noon, rotating practice for the PASS South Super Late Models, KOMA Unwind Modifieds, PASS Pro Late Models, Legends, and Flathead Fords starting at 2 PM, followed by qualifying at 5 PM, and feature racing at 7:45 PM.  PASS South Super Late Model and PASS Pro Late Model entry forms for the Daniel Boone Classic can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.
