Maxime Labrie et Anik Barrette premiers triples vainqueurs du Rallye de Charlevoix !

 

 

Clermont (Québec), le 25 octobre 2015.– Le pilote québécois Maxime Labrie, co-piloté par Anik Barrette sur Subaru WRX STI de l'équipe Swap Shop, a remporté ce week-end le Rallye de Charlevoix, édition spéciale Casino de Charlevoix. Déjà lauréats en 2013 et 2014, Labrie et Barrette sont ainsi devenu le premier équipage a remporter trois fois de suite l'événement au terme d'une édition qui a été très spectaculaire et a connu un franc succès populaire et sportif.

 

Trente-six équipages (un de plus que l'an dernier) étaient au départ samedi matin à Clermont, pour les deux premiers parcours de cette édition 2015. Comme toujours, une foule nombreuse avait envahi la ville pour l'occasion, et au terme des deux étapes chronométrées à cet endroit, trois équipages se retrouvaient ex-aequo au premier rang. Du jamais vu à l'événement ! Labrie/Barrette partageaient en effet la commande avec les deux prétendants au titre de champion du Québec en classe 4 roues motrices, soit Jean-Sébastien Besner/Yvan Joyal (Mitsubishi Lancer Évo.9 / Jon Nichols Motorsport) et le duo fils/père composé de Karel et Bruno Carré, sur la seconde Subaru WRX STI de l'équipe Swap Shop.

 

Les chances de victoire, et de titre, des Carré s'évanouissaient toutefois dès la spéciale suivante, présentée dans la ZEC Lac-aux-Sables, lors d'une sortie de route. Dès lors, Labrie/Barrette voyaient leur avance augmenter rapidement, Besner/Joyal étant de plus ralentis par des ennuis mécaniques. Ils termineront l'épreuve au onzième rang, avec un moteur laissant échapper un nuage de fumée significatif qu'il était à bout de souffle. Mais cette position est tout de même suffisante pour offrir au duo le titre de champions du Québec 2015.

 

Constant aux avant-postes et pour une fois épargné par les ennuis mécaniques qui l'ont souvent contraints à l'abandon les années précédentes au Rallye de Charlevoix, Steeve Hobbs, co-piloté par Philippe Poirier sur la Subaru WRX STI de l'équipe Foresco, termine deuxième, à 1'08" des vainqueurs.

 

L'un des exploits de cette édition 2015 revient au pilote américain Chris Greenhouse et son co-pilote Ryan Scott qui amènent leur Dodge SRT-4 à la troisième place toutes-catégories. Ils remportent de plus la Coupe Jon Nichols, catégorie du Championnat du Québec réservée aux voitures 2 roues motrices modifiées.

 

Aux commandes d'une toute nouvelle Mitsubishi Lancer Évo.9, Simon Losier, co-piloté par son cousin Éric Losier, a complété le "Top 4", devant Simon Dubé/Éric Lachance (Volkswagen Golf GTI).

 

Un autre exploit est celui du jeune Mikael Arsenault et sa co-pilote Amélie Bélanger. Recrues en compétition cette année, ils amènent leur Subaru WRX STI au sixième rang toutes-catégories au terme d'une belle lutte avec un autre équipage recrue très prometteur, composé de Sébastien Clark et Yannick Marin (Subaru également).

 

Les Charlevoisiens Pierre-Luc Poisson et Pierre-Luc Chouinard (Subaru WRX STI de l'équipe Test Racing) terminent huitièmes. Ils sont les seuls concurrents locaux à avoir réussi à compléter l'épreuve, Richard Bouchard/Marie Duhamel, sur une autre Subaru de l'équipe Test Racing, ont pour leur part dû abandonner suite à une sortie de route.

 

Vingt-six des trente-six équipages au départ ont complété l'épreuve, disputée majoritairement sous le soleil et par temps sec jusqu'à la toute fin, célébrée par deux nouvelles étapes chronométrées dans la ville de La Malbaie (secteur Pointe-au-Pic). Un parcours qui a ravi les spectateurs et les concurrents. Si certains ont voulu ne retenir de cette étape que la sortie de route des champions de Rallye X Simon Dickner et Pierre-Luc Lagacé (Subaru), une sortie impressionnante mais sans gravité, les vrais amateurs ont unanimement apprécié le tracé partant du Musée de Charlevoix, longeant ensuite le fleuve pour se clôturer au Casino de Charlevoix. 

 

Après le succès de cette édition 2015, les organisateurs vont travailler dès cet automne aux préparatifs de la prochaine édition du Rallye de Charlevoix, qui aura lieu fin octobre 2016.

Merritt, C.-B., 25 octobre 2015 – Antoine L'Estage (St-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Qc.) et Alan Ockwell (Toronto, Ont.) ont dominé le Pacific Forest Rally 2015, constituant la huitième victoire de L'Estage à cet évènement. La WRX STI de l'équipe Subaru Canada s'est imposée dès le premier jour en se construisant une grande avance et la maintenant tout au long de la course.

"Nous avons connu un bel évènement avec la voiture et l'équipe qui ont fait un excellent travail", a dit L'Estage. "Nous avons avons frappé un enfoncement dans la spéciale Clearwater, ce qui a endommagé un bras de suspension et, par conséquent, d'autres pièces se sont brisées également, mais nous avons pu réparer et nous rendre au service."

"L'équipe de service de Rocket Rally a réparé la voiture et elle était parfaite pour la dernière spéciale du rallye."

Hardy Schmidtke (Red Deer, Alb.) et John Hall (Sherwood Park, AB) ont fait preuve de constance du début à la fin. L'équipe a fait plus de 30 rallyes ensemble et ont rapidement montré leur confiance en eux par rapport à leur rivaux, se classant au deuxième rang tôt dans la course et maintenant cette position jusqu'à la fin.

"Nous avons été rapides, mais nous avons tenté d'éviter de prendre de gros risques", a expliqué Schmidtke. "Ce rallye a tendance à être piégeux, donc l'objectif était de se tenir loin du danger et ça a bien fonctionné, avec une deuxième place."

Josh Shewchuck (Kelowna, C.-B.) and Adam Vokes (Edmonton, Alb.) ont eu des ennuis au premier jour de l'événement et ont abordé le jour 2 remplis d'espoir. Ils ont offert une excellente performance lors des spéciales de cette journée. Alors que les autres équipes se démenaient avec les conditions difficiles, Shewchuck et Vokes ont réussi à se tenir loin des problèmes et ont été récompensés par une troisième place, meilleur résultat en carrière pour Shewchuck.

"Je suis vraiment content du déroulement de la journée", a dit Shewchuck. "Hier c'était un très mauvais départ, mais aujourd'hui nous avons fait de réels beaux progrès. De terminer troisième est une belle façon de boucler cet évènement."

Dave Clark (Naches, É.-U.) et Billy Irvin (Puyallup, É.-U.) ont dominé la catégorie deux roues motrices dans leur Merkur XR4Ti. Clark avait installé un nouveau moteur turbocompressé dans sa voiture avant la course et cette nouvelle puissance a vraiment joué en sa faveur. Malgré une compétition féroce, le duo américain n'a connu aucune menace réelle jusqu'à la fin du rallye.

"Nous avons tiré profit de la puissance additionnelle dans les spéciales en montée du vendredi", a expliqué Clark. "Nous avons eu un petit problème de suspension samedi, mais nous avons pu réparer et retrouver notre pleine vitesse."

Le Pacific Forest Rally est le premier évènement de l'Ouest Canadien du calendrier 2015 du Championnat des Rallyes Canadiens. Sillonnant les routes techniques dans les collines entourant la vallée Nicola, l'évènement est tenu sur deux jours et inclut une portion substantielle de spéciales de nuit. Un ciel dégagé et des routes sèches ont créé des conditions idéales pour la compétition.

Le Championnat des Rallyes canadiens comprend six évènements, tenus à la grandeur du Canada, et qui se déroulent de février à novembre. La série est présentée par Subaru Canada. La Canadian Association of Rallysport (CARS) est l'organisme qui sanctionne le rallye au Canada.

Le rallye est souvent décrit simplement comme "de vraies voitures, sur de vraies route, vraiment rapides." Ce sport motorisé toute saison voit des pilotes et leur copilote conduire des voitures de rue modifiées jusqu'à la limite. Ils conduisent à de très grandes vitesses sur des routes fermées qui sont en général constituées de 150 kilomètres de gravier, de terre battue, ou de neige. Les spectateurs peuvent s'approcher des voitures dans les aires de service et aussi suivre l'action dans des aires spécialement désignées pour les spectateurs qui offrent les meilleurs points de vue des routes.

Merritt, B.C., October 25, 2015 – Antoine L'Estage (St-Jean-sur-Richelieu,QC) and Alan Ockwell (Toronto, ON) dominated the 2015 Pacific Forest Rally, L'Estage's eighth victory at the event. The Subaru Rally Team Canada WRX STI carved out a big lead on the first day of competition and managed their lead through the rest of the event, despite a mechanical failure partway through the second day.

"We had a great event with the team and car all doing a really good job," said L'Estage. "We hit a compression on the Clearwater stage which broke a control arm and then other parts broke, but we were able to make a repair and limp back to service.

"The Rocket Rally guys fixed the car in service and it was perfect for the final stage of the rally."

Driving steady from start to finish were Hardy Schmidtke (Red Deer, AB) and John Hall (Sherwood Park, AB). The team has run over 30 rallies together and quickly showed their confidence over the rest of the field, moving into second place early in the event and holding position to the finish. 

"We drove quickly, but tried to avoid any big risks," said Schmidtke. "This rally has a way of forcing teams out, so the goal was to try to keep things clean and it worked out well, with a second place finish."     

Josh Shewchuck (Kelowna, BC) and Adam Vokes (Edmonton, AB) struggled with problems on the first day of the event and started day two with strong hopes for changed fortunes. They were rewarded with excellent performances on the day's stages. As other teams dropped out because of the rough conditions, Shewchuck and Vokes managed to avoid trouble and were rewarded with a third place finish, a career-best for Shewchuck. 

"I'm really happy with how today went," said Shewchuck. "Yesterday was a really bad start, but today we really made some good progress. To finish third is a really great way to close out our event. I'm really stoked!"

Dave Clark (Naches, USA) and Billy Irvin (Puyallup, USA) dominated the two-wheel-drive competition in their Merkur XR4Ti. Clark had fitted a new turbocharged engine before the event and found the power really worked to their advantage early in the rally. Despite a strong field of two-wheel-drive entries, the American pair went unchallenged to the finish. 

"We took advantage of the new power on the uphill stages on Friday," said Clark. "We did have a small suspension problem on Saturday, but we were able to fix the car and get back to full speed."  

The Pacific Forest Rally is the first western event on the 2015 Canadian Rally Championship calendar. Snaking along technical roads in the hills surrounding the Nicola Valley, the event takes place over two days and includes significant nighttime portions of competition. Clear skies and dry roads provided ideal conditions for competition. 

The Canadian Rally Championship is comprised of six events held nationwide in a season that extends from February to November. The series is presented by Subaru Canada, supported by Yokohama Tire Canada and features a contingency program from Subaru Canada. The Canadian Association of Rallysport (CARS) is the official sanctioning body for rallying in Canada.

Rally car racing is often described simply as "real cars, real roads, real fast." The all-season
motorsport sees drivers and their co-drivers take modified road cars to the limit as they achieve blistering speeds over closed-road courses that typically cover more than 150 kilometers of gravel, dirt or snow-covered roads. Fans can get up close to the cars in the service areas and catch all the action from  designated spectator points located at the best spots on the route.

PASS South And "The Howler" Return To Greenville-Pickens This Weekend

CHARLOTTE, NC (October 21) – After two months off due to rainouts at Southern National Motorsports Park and Myrtle Beach Speedway, the Pro All Stars Series (PASS) South Super Late Models and Pro Late Models will be back on the track this weekend at the historic Greenville-Pickens Speedway.  And it is also fitting that as PASS celebrates 10 years of being the South's longest running and most prestigious Super Late Model sanctioning body, that it would bring back one of the most popular events of the series early days.  From 2007-2009, "The Howler" at Greenville-Pickens Speedway saw some of the biggest names in short track racing compete for the win at the legendary South Carolina speedway.  Maine's Cassius Clark took the win in the inaugural "Howler" and followed that up by capturing the first PASS National Championship at Greenville in 2008, a race won by Nevada driver Alex Haase.  6-time PASS North Super Late Model champion Johnny Clark won the most recent "Howler" in 2009.  This weekend, "The Howler" will be back at Greenville-Pickens Speedway as the PASS South Super Late Models get set to tackle the flat half-mile for 125 green flag laps.  Three drivers, Joey Doiron, Ben Rowe, and Tate Fogleman, are only separated by 22 points as they prepare to vie for the 2015 PASS National Championship at Greenville-Pickens Speedway.

While the battle for the national title will be settled this weekend at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, the PASS South Super Late Model championship still has three more races to go.  Following "The Howler," the Southern title fight will go to Concord Speedway for the 13th Annual North-South Shootout on November 7 and will then come down to the 10th Annual Mason-Dixon Meltdown 200 at Hickory Motor Speedway on November 21.

So far this season, Huntington Beach, CA driver Zane Smith has been the man to beat in the PASS South championship battle.  The 16-year-old driver, who is in his second year racing PASS South Super Late Models, has gone to victory lane three times, with wins at Kingsport Speedway and Concord Speedway in May and most recently at South Boston Speedway in August.  Those wins have propelled Smith to an advantage of more than 100 points over his nearest competitors, Fogleman, Jody Measamer, and Matt Craig, as they look to Greenville this weekend.  But, while the focus for many might be the championship, that's not the case for Smith.

"I'm beyond pleased with my year so far, knowing we have three wins in PASS South and looking for another this weekend at Greenville," says Smith, driver of the Pro Am Racing Products #77 Chevrolet.  "I don't really want to think about points.  I just want to go out there and win races!"

For Smith and the Gary Crooks led team, Greenville-Pickens Speedway could be another opportunity to flex their muscle in 2015.  Competing in a partial schedule last year with another team, Smith completed every lap at Greenville-Pickens in the Firecracker 125 and finished 9th.  Smith hopes his experience last year, albeit at a different time of the season, will help him to another victory in "The Howler" this Saturday night.

"I'm looking forward to Greenville-Pickens because it's a super racy track and tire saving will be a huge factor there," says Smith.  "We have a new car for Greenville so I'm definitely looking forward to giving it a shot."

While a lot of eyes will be focused on the title battles in PASS National, PASS South, and PASS Pro Late Model, many drivers will be looking for their first series wins this season at Greenville.  All the championship contenders have filed early entries along with PASS South veterans Jeff Batten and Jimmy Doyle.  Vinnie Miller will be driving a team car to that of Smith out of the Crooks Racing stable, while CJ Greaves will make his first start for Kyle Busch Motorsports.  Lee Hansard, who led the most laps at Anderson Motor Speedway in March, will return, while Gus Dean makes his first start of 2015.  Quebec racer and PASS North regular Raphael Lessard also plans to make his first PASS South start at Greenville-Pickens this weekend.

Action begins on Friday, October 23 at Greenville-Pickens Speedway with rotating practice from 3-6 PM.  On Saturday, October 24 pit gates open at 11:30 AM, followed by rotating practice from 1:30-4 PM, and qualifying at 4:30 PM.  Main event racing goes green at 6 PM for the PASS Pro Late Models, Front Wheel Drives, Renegades, and 125 laps in "The Howler" for the PASS Super Late Models.  PASS South Super Late Model entry forms and the complete schedules for the events at Greenville-Pickens Speedway, Concord Speedway, and Hickory Motor Speedway can be found at ProAllStarsSeries.com.

Waterbury, VT – The American Racer Three Star program is designed to recognize three non-podium teams in no particular order of performance that had outstanding races at American-Canadian Tour (ACT) U.S. Tour and select ACT-sanctioned events. There are no specific criteria for deciding who might receive the award of a free American Racer tire (value $125.00), but a special effort by a team, exceptional race, just plain old hard luck, or any other accepted reason is used to decide the award recipients.

 

The Three Stars are chosen by ACT officials and will receive certificates for use of a free American Racer tire at a future ACT event.

 

THOMPSON MOTOR SPEEDWAY

WORLD SERIES 100

 

ACT made its first visit to Connecticut's Thompson Speedway in 23 years – and the inaugural trip under the ACT Late Model Tour banner – this past Saturday, October 17 for its 2015 season finale as part of the Sunoco World Series of Speedway Racing presented by XtraMart. A field of 35 cars participated in qualifying with 33 starting the World Series 100, and the event saw numerous twists and turns. Rowley, MA's Eddie MacDonald and Waterford, CT's Dillon Moltz both appeared to have the race in hand at various stages. But the engine in MacDonald's Hancock Electric Chevy expired with 25 laps remaining, and an incident on a lap-92 restart eliminated Moltz along with Joey Polewarczyk Jr. – taking "Joey Pole's" slim championship hopes with them.

 

The mantle was thus passed to Williston, VT's Brian Hoar, who easily held off the field for an emotional 42nd career ACT victory in what turned out to be his final race. Behind him, Dover, NH's Wayne Helliwell Jr. did exactly what he needed to do to clinch his third ACT Late Model Tour Championship. But there were numerous stories to follow throughout the field, with ACT newcomers and established racers alike fighting for points and pride to close out 2015. The American Racer Stars of the Race are:

 

*William Wall, Shewsbury, MA – #4MA – William Wall made the jump to ACT-type Late Models in 2015 after a 15-year racing career which has included Microsprints, NEMA Midgets, and the Thompson Limited Sportsmen. Wall finished a respectable 7th in points in weekly Thompson competition and made his ACT debut on Saturday. He made an impression right away in the Wall Trucking Chevy, driving from fifth to second in his heat and earning the 6th starting spot in the main event.

 

Wall then drove a quiet but stellar feature, remaining on the lead lap through a long green-flag run while holding his own against drivers such as newly-crowned ACT Champion Wayne Helliwell Jr. and top-5 point driver Brandon Atkins. After avoiding a pair of late incidents, Wall took home an 8th-place finish – the highest of any Thompson regular. The #4MA team receives a Star Award for a strong ACT debut which showed they'll be ones to watch in future Late Model competition.

 

*Emily Packard, E. Montpelier, VT – #9ME – Packard arrived at Thompson with a prime opportunity to finish fourth in ACT Tour points for the second consecutive year – but the opportunity was nearly dashed before high noon. Allan King lost control in turn one inSaturday morning's final practice and Packard had nowhere to go, punching out the radiator and significantly damaging the nose on the Northstar Fireworks Ford.

 

The team thrashed to make repairs for qualifying and eventually earned the 13th starting position. From there, Packard did what she's done so often in the past two years: adapt quickly to a new track. Packard fought tooth-and-nail the whole race, eventually coming home 10th and securing that overall fourth spot. Although the #9ME team was unable to finally break into ACT Victory Lane this year, finishing fourth in points twice before your 19th birthday is no small feat. Packard receives a Star Award for showing her breakout 2014 campaign was no fluke.

 

*Mark Jenison, Warwick, RI – #22RI – Mark Jenison made his second career ACT Tour appearance at Thompson after failing to qualify at Beech Ridge in August. The weekend began inauspiciously on Friday as Jenison got into the turn 2 wall on his third lap of practice. Then on Saturday, he climbed up Jeff Smith's door coming down the frontstretch in his heat race, with the incident sweeping up Jimmy Linardy as well.

 

But then something clicked for the Monro Service Center team. Jenison charged back to finish fifth in the qualifier – which, after starting 10th, was enough to give him the outside pole in the feature. The #22RI then backed up his performance in the main event, picking up a few donuts but otherwise staying competitive and out of trouble. When the checkered flag flew, Jenison had earned a wholly unexpected 9th-place finish. Jenison receives his first Star Award for turning his weekend around and making positive strides for his racing future.

 

*Special Award: Brian Hoar, Williston, VT – #37VT – There's no question that Brian Hoar is the most accomplished driver in ACT Late Model Tour history. No driver has more championships (8), wins (42), or laps led (2,677) – and few others are even close. But Brian Hoar the racer pales in comparison to Brian Hoar the person. He has always deflected credit when he wins, been graceful in defeat, made time for every interview, and remained loyal to those who have helped him along the way. Simply put, ACT could not have asked for a better representative.

 

Hoar announced following the World Series 100 that he is stepping away from the driver's seat to spend more time with his family and pursue interests outside of racing. The announcement surprised many people, but it was only fitting he made it in Victory Lane – "The King" was abdicating the throne while at the top of his game. We would like to give a special "Lifetime Star" Award to Brian Hoar for everything he has contributed towards ACT's success in the past 23 years, and we wish him the best with his future endeavors.

 

The 2015 ACT Late Model Tour and Série ACT seasons have both reached their conclusion. Banquet dates and times will be announced.

Une première en PASS South SLM pour Raphaël Lessard

Après avoir complété le championnat de la série PASS North le 4 octobre dernier, voilà que le pilote de la voiture #71 Raphaël Lessard se dirige vers la piste de Greenville Pickens Speedway, Easley, Caroline du Sud.


Raphaël prendra le départ pour Charlotte ce mercredi, 21 octobre, pour rencontrer les membres de l'équipe David Gilliland Racing. D'autres rencontres sont au programme en prévision de la saison 2016.


Une première avec PASS South


Pour une première fois en carrière, Raphaël prendra part à un programme de la série PASS South SLM. Une autre étape de son apprentissage devant composer avec une piste jamais visitée et participant à l'épreuve avec des pilotes différents.


À bord de la voiture #71 de FRL Express, la journée du 23 octobre sera consacrée à des essais libres sur le circuit de Greenville Pickens Speedway.

Cette course qui se veut la dernière planifiée avec l'équipe David Gilliland Racing pour la saison 2015 aura lieu le samedi 24 octobre.

Desjardins Repeats as DIRTcar NE Sportsman Modified Series Champion



Mathieu Desjardins of Sorel-Tracy Quebec earned the 2015 DIRTcar NE Sportsman Modified Series championship with a 4th-place finish in the 50-lap Fall Nationals finale at Brockville Ontario Speedway.

Desjardins, driving the St. Martin Motorsports/Jean Preville Excavation Bicknell chassis No. 1m, was fourth to the line behind race winner Dylan Evoy of Brockville, Shane Pecore and Corey Wheeler.

It was the sixth top-5 in eight starts in the series for the 2015 Autodrome Drummond track champion. He won series events at Drummond and Cornwall.

Dylan Evoy of Brockville won the Sportsman 50 from the pole. He was passed by Kyle Wilson on lap 14 after four early cautions, but he regained the lead for keeps on lap 19.

Shane Pecore moved into the runner-up spot on a lap-27 restart and held second the rest of the way despite constant pressure from Wheeler and Desjardins. Brad Rouse completed the top five.

Du mouvement en Sportsman Québec


Le banquet à peine terminé, la série Sportsman Québec passe en mode 2016. Toujours soucieux de vous tenir informé, nous vous ferons part des nouveautés de la prochaine saison au fur et à mesure.


Le promoteur de la série est à préparer son équipe de travail pour la prochaine saison. Certains des officiels en poste en 2015 prendront des chemins différents.


Il me revient donc de vous annoncer le départ du directeur de course M. Sylvain Doyon ainsi que de la responsable des « spotteurs » Ginette Carbonneau. M. Doyon et Mme Carbonneau ont décidé de quitter leur fonction respective ayant envie de se consacrer à d'autres activités personnelles.

On ne pourrait passer sous silence l'implication dont ils ont fait preuve lors des 3 saisons parmi nous. M. Doyon a donné beaucoup de son temps pour la révision des règlements techniques ainsi que pour le bon fonctionnement de la série lors des programmes de courses. Toujours sur place, ils auront donné beaucoup de leur temps afin de s'assurer du bon fonctionnement de chacun des programmes.

 

De plus, Maxime Bibeau, officiel de puits, sera absent pour la prochaine saison, et ce, pour des raisons personnelles. Lui qui s'est rapidement acclimaté à la série et qui a fourni une aide précieuse tant au niveau technique que dans les puits sera possiblement de retour pour  2017.

 

Finalement, notre photographe tant apprécié, M. Marco Bédard se doit de  prendre du repos pour des raisons de santé. Il ne sera donc pas de retour en 2016 en tant que photographe officiel. Par contre, il restera responsable du site internet.

 

Sylvain, Maxime, Marco et Ginette, merci pour le temps et la passion que vous avez mis dans votre travail. Votre passage parmi nous, chacun à votre façon, aura permis de faire progresser la série.

La série Sportsman Qc célèbre ses champions

La série Sportsman Qc célèbre ses champions

C'est ce samedi, 17 octobre 2015 au Méchoui International de Lévis que ce tenait le 9e banquet de la Série Sportsman Qc ainsi que le 2e banquet de la série Mini Sportsman.


C'est plus de 180 personnes qui se sont réunies pour souligner le travail accompli par les équipes et pilotes.


Dominic Jacques remporte les honneurs



En plus du titre de Champion 2015, le #67 Dominic Jacques a aussi remporté le prix de M Autodrome Chaudière, le Hard Charger Pierrette Cimon ainsi que celui de M. Qualification SAAS Race Wear. Ayant battu les records de piste à l'Autodrome St-Félicien et sur le circuit du GP3R, Jacques a aussi établi un nouveau record comptabilisant 10 tops 5 en autant de programmes. Une saison de réussite pour le pilote de Vallée-Jonction qui avait terminé au 2e rang en 2014.


Le #25 Pier-Luc Labbé a aussi été récompensé pour sa saison. Ayant terminé en 3e position à égalité avec le #7 Réjean Blanchet, le pilote de Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce s'est vu décerné le prix le plus prestigieux de la soirée soit le prix « Ambassadeur Best Buy » remis par M. Clément Samson de Best Buy Pièces d'Autos Rive Sud.


Le #7 Réjean Blanchet qui, rappelons-le, a terminé en 3e position au classement général, s'est vu décerner le prix de M. Autodrome Montmagny. Connaissant une de ses meilleures saisons depuis son arrivée en Sportsman Québec, il est monté à 5 reprises sur le podium remportant 4 victoires.


Le prix de la plus belle voiture, voté par les officiels et les pilotes,  revient cette année au #33 Philippe Poulin de St-Prosper. La voiture aux couleurs de Beauce Technologie a su attirer l'attention et déloger la voiture #17 Jimmy Nadeau qui avait remporté ce prix au cours des 6  dernières années. Poulin termine au 5e rang du championnat.


Le #17 Jimmy Nadeau a quant à lui terminé au 2e rang du classement général terminant à 9 reprises parmi le top 5 avec 7 podiums et 1 victoire.

Le prix du meilleur esprit sportif a été remis par vote des officiels et des équipes au sympathique pilote de Québec, le #54 Jean D'Amours. Terminant en 10e position au classement général, c'était la première saison qu'il participait à tous les programmes


Saison exceptionnelle pour le #95 Mickaël Isabelle



Le titre de recrue de l'année revient au #95 Mickaël Isabelle qui aura réussi à rendre le plus bel hommage à son défunt parrain Steve Lesage à bord de sa voiture. Non seulement Mickaël remporte le championnat des recrues Méchoui International mais il s'est aussi vu remettre le prix du pilote le plus amélioré pendant la saison ainsi que celui de l'équipe de l'année.  Étant remis à une équipe pour son implication durant la saison tant aux courses, à la préparation de la voiture et aussi à la tâche de travail accompli durant la saison 2015, c'est l'équipe #95 qui avait remporté ce prix l'an dernier alors que Steve Lesage était parmi nous. Une belle finalité pour la famille et l'équipe. En effet, Mickaël Isabelle sera de retour l'an prochain, mais la voiture portera un autre numéro.


La Série Sportsman a annoncé lors de ce banquet que le #95 serait retiré et qu'un logo serait apposé sur toutes les voitures lors de la saison prochaine afin de rendre hommage à Lesage, un grand champion de la Série.



Le championnat des constructeurs 2015 revient à Mac Rod Shop. Entreprise familiale, Mac Rod Shop a remporté en 2009 son premier championnat des constructeurs avec comme pilote le #84 Martin Latulippe. Le #67 Dominic Jacques, pilotes qui leur a entre autres permis de remporter les honneurs a pris quelques instants pour les remercier de leur travail tout au long de la saison     

 

Deux champions pour les Mini Sportsman

Ayant cette année, deux classes distinctes soit la classe développement et la classe Élite, la série Mini Sportsman a honoré ses deux champions.



En classe développement, c'est la #8 Victoria Bélanger qui s'est vu remettre le titre de championne 2015.


En ce qui concerne la classe Élite, les honneurs du championnat reviennent au #13 Samuel Boyer.


Un prix spécial a été remis cette saison au pilote qui s'est le plus amélioré tant sur la piste que par son attitude en dehors de la piste. Le #01 Simon Larouche a été choisi par les officiels de la série pour son travail accompli.


Ce banquet met fin officiellement à la saison 2015. Avec plus de 34 pilotes différents dont 10 recrues qui auront participé à la série Sportsman Qc Lucas Oil ainsi que 14 pilotes Mini Sportsman, on pourra dire que 2015 aura été à nouveau une réussite.

Montréal, 18 octobre 2015 - Le pilote de course Alex Tagliani, de Terrebonne, a rejoint un groupe d'élite samedi soir à Toronto lorsqu'il a été intronisé au Panthéon de la renommée du sport motorisé canadien au cours du Banquet annuel de l'honorable société. Trois autres noms qui ont grandement contribué au développement du  sport motorisé canadien : Ralph Luciw, John Chisholm et Don Thompson Jr., ainsi que Sir Jackie Stewart, triple champion du monde de Formule 1 et double vainqueur au Grand Prix du Canada à Mosport au début des années soixante-dix, se sont vus également décerner ce grand honneur.


Lors de son allocution au Studio Glen Gould de l'édifice de la Société Radio-Canada à Toronto, le pilote québécois a tenu à remercier tous ceux qui ont participé à son prestigieux parcours dans le monde de la course automobile. Il a débuté par Madame Nicole Lascelle qui a entrepris les démarches pour sa nomination et qui a poursuivi le processus jusqu'à son acceptation. « J'aimerais également remercier le Comité de nomination du Panthéon d'avoir écouté la requête initiale de Nicole Lascelle, et surtout d'avoir retenu ma candidature. C'est un grand honneur qu'ils m'ont rendu en m'intronisant auprès des plus célèbres noms du sport motorisé canadien. »


Tagliani a également tenu à souligner le soutien indéfectible de son père Raymond et sa mère Gabrielle, et de leurs sacrifices au début de sa carrière de pilote, et les encouragements continuels de son épouse Bronte depuis plus de 10 ans maintenant. « Mes parents ont tout fait au début de ma carrière pour que je réalise mon rêve, et pour ce, je leur en serai pour toujours très reconnaissant, a poursuivi Tagliani.J'aimerais également mentionner le soutien de tous les commanditaires qui ont cru en moi au cours de ma carrière et remercier tous ceux qui ont contribué de près ou de loin à mes succès; à partir de ceux qui ont installé des boulons sur mes voitures jusqu'aux gens qui ont travaillé aux plus hauts niveaux des organisations. J'ai également une pensée pour tous les amateurs de course automobile qui se sont déplacés pour m'encourager. Pour tout ce monde, cet honneur, je le reçois en pensant à eux. »


Par contre, Tagliani n'a pas l'intention de se reposer sur ses lauriers, car il a de gros projets pour 2016 et il espère qu'ils vont tous aboutir.

Thompson, CT – Williston, VT's Brian Hoar ended the most accomplished career in American-Canadian Tour (ACT) Late Model history on top once again by winning the World Series 100 at Connecticut's Thompson Motor Speedway on Saturday, October 17. Meanwhile, Dover, NH's Wayne Helliwell Jr. added another notch to his belt by clinching his third ACT Tour Championship in four years.

 

Hoar was running second on a restart with eight laps remaining when leader Dillon Moltz lost control as the field came to the green. Although Hoar was able to get by, third-place Joey Polewarczyk Jr. could not and plowed into Moltz's front end, with Walter Sutcliff getting collected as well.

 

Hoar easily held off Brad Babb and Jimmy Hebert on the final restart for his second straight ACT Late Model Tour win and 42nd of his career. He then tearfully announced in Victory Lane that he is stepping away from the driver's seat.

 

 

"I've got two teenage daughters – one of them just got her learner's permit – and that's a big part of it," Hoar said of his decision. "I've been doing this a long time, and I've got a lot of other things I want to do as well.

 

"I was lucky enough to be surrounded by really, really good people for all of my career," he added. "That's how we got here – having good people, working our tails off, and staying motivated and focused on the goal."

 

Helliwell finished seventh, which was more than enough after Polewarczyk's misfortune to win the title. Helliwell was slow coming up through the field from his 15th starting spot but said afterward his windshield was clouded early by the overheating car of Brian Tagg, and with impaired vision and a championship at stake he chose to tread cautiously.

 

"It's definitely a big deal," Helliwell said of his third ACT title. "I never even thought I'd get one. When we got our first, we beat the king (Brian Hoar). He's been the man for a long time…Brian and I were talking after the race about when enough is enough. I told him, 'I don't know if I'll get eight (titles) – I'm stressed enough as it is already.' But I'm sure we'll regroup over the winter and probably do it again next year."

 

Polesitter Hebert led the first three laps before Polewarczyk dashed to the point. Hebert then snatched the lead back from Polewarczyk on a lap-29 restart, only for Eddie MacDonald to take it away on another restart four laps later.

 

MacDonald kept pace over a four-car breakaway of Moltz, Polewarczyk, and Hoar in the race's middle stages, but smoke began showing from the left front of MacDonald's car just past the lap-70 mark. The smoke quickly turned to flames, forcing MacDonald to dive to the pits on lap 76 and sending Moltz to the point. A caution on lap 92 when Tom Carey slid into the frontstretch wall set up the dramatic finish.

 

Babb finished second with Hebert third. Ray Parent finished a season-best fourth followed by Brandon Atkins in fifth. Rowland Robinson Jr., Helliwell, local racer William Wall, a surprising Mark Jenison, and Emily Packard rounded out the top-10.

 

The 2015 ACT season has now concluded on both sides of the border. Banquet dates and times are to be announced.

SCOTT STECKLY VICTORY TOUR LAUNCHED 

 

 

MILVERTON, ONTARIO, Friday October 16, 2015:  After winning his fourth NASCAR Canadian Tire Series title in eight years at Kawartha Speedway a few short weeks ago, Scott Steckly is taking his winning race car and trophy on a Victory Tour.

 

The tour will launch on Tuesday October 27, 2015 with its first event at St. Michaels Catholic Elementary School in Cambridge.  The Canadian Tire store located at 65 Pinebrush Road also in Cambridge has adopted this local school.  Scott and his 520 H.P. NASCAR car and 2015 Championship trophy will first stop at St. Michaels for a Show & Tell that afternoon.  He will talk to the kids about having dreams and goals and how he has been able to live his dream. 

 

Volunteers from the school, the Canadian Tire store and parents will work together in the evening from 4 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in the Canadian Tire parking lot for a gigantic BBQ with all monies raised going toward the school. 

 

The actual winning race car which competes at events throughout Canada will be on site for the students and families to check out and get an autographed picture from driver Scott Steckly.


"This is an exciting undertaking for us," said champion Steckly.  "We will be adding more events so stay tuned as we might be showing up in your neighborhood."
