Consciente des particularités de cette piste, l’équipe mécanique ne pouvait que féliciter Louis-Philippe Dumoulin après sa performance et ce, d’autant plus sur un tracé totalement inconnu et avec seulement deux participations à son actif sur circuit ovale. Quatrième meilleur temps lors des essais et en dixième position sur la grille de départ, le Québécois a défendu sa position avec rapidité et ténacité, compétitionnant auprès de pilotes spécialistes sur ce type de circuit. « Je me bats avec des pilotes qui ont beaucoup d’expérience et je suis parvenu à rester sur le tour du meneur avec la voiture n°47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare. Sur circuit ovale, mon objectif principal est de rester en piste, de terminer la course pour améliorer ma position au championnat », partage Louis-Philippe Dumoulin. Renommée comme étant la plus longue course du calendrier (tri-ovale - 300 tours) et reconnue pour le peu d’incidents, cette course a tout de même été ponctuée de sept drapeaux jaunes (52/300 tours). Le détenteur du titre de Recrue de l’année 2011 en série NASCAR Canadian Tire a effectué plusieurs dépassements stratégiques au travers d’un trafic dense et agressif qui a balisé la conduite tout au long de cette cinquième épreuve de la saison 2012. « On s’est battu tout au long de la course, le peloton de tête jouait serré et la voiture n°47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare a vraiment été performante. Bien qu’il y ait un écart important de température entre le jour et le soir, l’équipe a su anticiper les bons réglages », explique le pilote de l’équipe de course Dumoulin Compétition. Fourth fastest time during the practice sessions and in tenth position on the starting grid, the Quebecer defended his position with speed and tenacity, competing alongside drivers specialised on this type of circuit. « On the track with highly experienced drivers, I managed to stay on the leading lap with the n°47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare. My objective on oval circuits is to stay on the track, to complete the race in order to improve my championship standing », shares Louis-Philippe Dumoulin. Renowned for being the longest event on the calendar (tri-oval - 300 laps) and recognized for having few incidents, this race however, was interrupted by seven caution flags (52/300 laps). The 2011 NASCAR Canadian Tire Rookie of the Year Champion performed numerous strategic passes in the dense and aggressive traffic that marked this fifth event of the 2012 season. « The leading pack was very tight and we fought during the entire race, the n°47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare was very performing. Although there was a significant difference between the day and evening temperatures, the team knew how to anticipate the proper adjustments », explains the Dumoulin Competition driver. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin will be at the wheel of the n°47 WeatherTech Canada/ Bellemare Dodge at the Edmonton Indy, on the newly configured road circuit of the Edmonton City Center Airport for the sixth event of the 2012 season on July 22nd.
