M-A CAMIRAND: UN PREMIER DÉPART POUR NDS MOTORSPORTS ET EN SÉRIE NASCAR K&N

Quelle belle nouvelle que de lire le nom de Marc-Antoine Camirand sur la liste des participants de l'épreuve NASCAR K&N Pro Series East à la piste de Watkins Glen.

Marc-André, le spécialiste du Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières, participe depuis deux saison en NASCAR Canadian Tire Series pour White Motorsports.  C'est là que le chef d'équipe et gérant du programme stock-car chez NDS Motorsports, Steve Hibbard, là remarqué.

"Marc-Antoine est un pilote très talentueux.  Ont cherchait un pilote capable d'inscrire une victoire.  En plus, l'expérience qu'il possède en NCTS lui a fait connaître les pneus qu'il aura sous la voiture en K&N, un atout important surtout considérant que ce sera son tout premier départ" déclara Hibbard que nous avons rejoint par téléphone.

L'équipe NDS Motorsports numéro 53, qui a été connu pour ses succès avec Andrew Ranger, a préféré le pilote de St-Léonard-d'Ashton.  Si le chef d'équipe n'a pas voulu élaborer sur les raisons, une simple recherche sur facebook a permis de comprendre que le tout remonte à l'épreuve de camionette NASCAR Camping World à Mosport en 2014 et comporte un volet financier.  Le nerf de la guerre en sport automobile.

La petite, mais fort réputable, équipe du Vermont sera appuyée à Watkins Glen par Children of Fallen Patriots, un collège pour les enfants des soldats qui ont tombé au combat.


Il n'est pas exclus de faire d'autres épreuves avec Camirand en NASCAR K&N ou encore dans un des autres bolide à la disposition de l'équipe.

NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Statistical Advance: Watkins GlenAnalyzing The Bully Hill 125 at Watkins Glen International
 
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Aug. 5, 2015) – The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East visits famed road course Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International on Friday. Below is a statistical look at the historical performance of the series at Watkins Glen and of the series drivers.

Bully Hill Vineyards 125 Setup:
·         Friday night's event will be the series second race at Watkins Glen International since 2009 and the 16th visit to the track since 1993.
·      Scott Heckert is the only previous race winner scheduled to compete in the Bully Hill Vineyards 125.
·      Six drivers from other NASCAR series have entered to run at Watkins Glen with the K&N Pro Series East, including: Cole Custer (NASCAR Camping World Trucks), Daniel Hemric (NCWTS), Kevin O'Connell (NASCAR XFINITY Series), Marc-Antoine Camirand (NASCAR Canadian Tire Series presented by Mobil 1), Eddie Cheever III (NASCAR Whelen Euro Series) and Dylan Lupton (NXS).
·      NASCAR K&N Pro Series West points leader Noah Gragson will be making his K&N East debut at Watkins Glen on Friday.
·      Championship points leader William Byron will be making his second start on a road course. He ran in the K&N West race at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway and finished fifth after starting second. He currently holds a 25-point advantage over Scott Heckert heading into the final five events of the season.
 
Watkins Glen International:
History
·         Established by law student Cameron Argetsinger in 1948 on the streets of Watkins Glen, New York.
·Competition moved to a temporary course in 1953, and 2.3-mile permanent circuit was built in 1956.
·         In 1992, the back straightaway was reconfigured, adding an inner loop that increased the length of the long course to 3.4-miles and the short course to 2.45-miles.
·         Held its first NASCAR race in 1957, won by Buck Baker in what is now the Sprint Cup Series.
·         The first NASCAR K&N Pro Series East event was held in 1993 and was won by Billy Dragon.
·         The International Speedway Corporation became the sole proprietor in 1997.
 
Notebook
·         The K&N Pro Series East has held 15 events at Watkins Glen since 1993.
·         There have been 12 different series event winners at Watkins Glen. Bryan Wall, Andy Santerre and Ted Christopher each have two wins at the track.
·Eleven drivers have won pole awards at Watkins Glen. Curtis Markham and Dale Quarterley are the only drivers with more than one pole award at the track with two each. The field has been set by the rule book on two occasions.
·         Scott Heckert is the only race winner scheduled to compete this weekend at Watkins Glen.
·         Chevrolet has been to Victory Lane nine times in Watkins Glen history, followed by Ford with four and Pontiac and Toyota with one win each.

·         In six NASCAR XFINITY Series starts he has earned one top-five finish.
·         With his participation in the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series season-opener this year at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, he became the first driver to compete in each of NASCAR's three international series.
