Brett Hearn remporte une finale excitante à l’Autodrome Drummond ! Drummondville, Québec – Lundi 18 juillet, 2011 – Martin Bélanger, directeur des communications Encore une fois très populaire au Québec, les voitures Gros-Blocs de la série Super DIRTcar ont pu fouler le sol de l’Autodrome Drummond. Le meilleur peloton de la saison avec 37 voitures dans les puits. Les Sportsman et Pro-Stock, partageaient également la vedette en cette soirée commanditée par les équipements Adrien Phaneuf. Une piste en excellente état a donné droit à de belles finales ! The Sportsman and Pro-Stock categories were also on the schedule on Equipements Adrien Phaneuf Night. |
Matt Sheppard fut dominant dès le début de la finale de 100 tours en Gros-Blocs prenant une bonne avance sur Bussière et Hébert, le premier jaune survient au 22e tour ramenant le peloton ensemble. À la relance, Danny Johnson connaît un excellent départ et tombe deuxième derrière Sheppard. Celui-ci semblait seul en piste, mais a des ennuis au 38e tour donnant les commandes à Johnson. Beaucoup de changements dans le top 5 alors que Johnson, Hébert, Hearn, Wight et Decker composant les 5 premiers à la mi-course. Johnson en tête alors que Hébert demeure en 2e jusqu’à la relance au 75e se faisant passer par Hearn et Decker. Hébert n’a pas dit son dernier mot alors qu’il reprend la 3e pour quelques tours sur Decker. Une fin de course excitante alors que Hearn et Decker s’approche du meneur alors qu’Hébert glisse au 6e rang. Au dernier tour, Johnson brise son moteur et Hearn en profite pour le dépasser et remporter sa 107e victoire en carrière dans la série Super DIRTcar devant Decker et Larry Wight qui a réussi à se glisser au 3e rang, Johnson parvient à finir 4e devant Justin Haers, Hébert fut le meilleur québécois en terminant 6e. Mathieu Desjardins prend les devants dans la finale de 25 tours en Sportsman et mène les 10 premiers tours lorsque Steve Bernier parvient à le dépasser au tour suivant. Le premier drapeau jaune survient à la mi-course. Bernier demeure aux commandes du peloton de 23 voitures. Bernier résiste à de nombreuses neutralisations pour remporter sa 2e victoire consécutive à Drummond devant Martin Pelletier et Mathieu Desjardins complète le podium. Dans la finale de 25 tours en Pro-Stock, Jocelyn Roy prend les commandes dès le début, Stéphane Lemire vient rejoindre Roy en tête au 8e tour alors que les 2 pilotes sont côtes à côtes, Roy à l’extérieur et Lemire à l’intérieur, les deux conducteurs se sont livrés une bonne bataille pendant 14 tours et Lemire parvient à obtenir la première place avec un peu moins de 3 tours à faire. Lemire mène les derniers tours pour remporter sa 2e victoire de la saison devant Roy et Bruno Cyr vient compléter le podium. L’action continue dès samedi le 23 juillet, à Drummond alors que les Modifiés auront encore une fois une finale de 100 tours, les Sportsman seront en action pour une épreuve de 50 tours et les Pro-Stock seront également de la partie. Martin Bélanger Directeur des communications Autodrome Drummond | Matt Sheppard was dominant right off the initial start of the 100-lap Big Block event taking a good lead over Bussiere and Hébert, the first caution came on lap 22 bringing the field together. On the restart, Danny Johnson gain 2 spots and now sits second behind Sheppard. The leader seemed to be untouchable until he had issues with his car on lap 38 giving the lead to Johnson. Several changes in the top 5 with Johnson, Hebert, Hearn, Wight and Decker leading the way as the feature reached the halfway point. Johnson still in the lead with Hebert holding on second place until a lap 75 restart where he slipped behind Hearn and Decker, but Hebert charged back to regain third for a few laps before fading to sixth spot. A great finish as Hearn and Decker got closer to Johnson for the lead. On the last lap, Johnson brokes his engine and Hearn passes him to win his 107th Super DIRTcar Series tour race and 6th race at Drummond over Decker, Larry Wight finishes in third, Johnson rallied the finish in fourth in front of Justin Haers, Hebert was the best local driver with a 6th place. Mathieu Desjardins takes the lead in the 25-lap Sportsman affair and lead the first 10 laps as Steve Bernier is able to pass him on the following lap. The first caution came at the halfway point. Bernier stays in front of the 23-car field and survived several caution to win his second feature in a row in front of Martin Pelletier and Mathieu Desjardins completes the podium. In the 25-lap Pro-Stock feature, Jocelyn Roy takes the lead, Stéphane Lemire joins the leader on the 8th lap as the 2 drivers are racing side by side, and both drivers had a great battle for 14 laps until Lemire passed Roy with less than 3 laps to do. Lemire led the final laps to win his second feature of the season over Roy and Bruno Cyr completes the podium. The action continues this Saturday, July 23rd with another 100-lap event for the Modifieds along with a 50-lap feature race for the Sportsman as the Pro-Stock are also on the racing card.
