ISMA Supermodifieds return to Airborne

South Plattsburgh – The International Supermodified Association (ISMA) featuring the fastest short-track cars in the world, return to Airborne Speedway this Saturday, July 23. The Supermodifieds - lightweight, winged and packing 850 HP, treated Airborne fans to a main event that wasn’t decided until the last lap in their 2010 debut.

 

 Last year’s winner and eventual ISMA champion Russ Wood of Pelham, NH will go for his second Airborne win in the Della Auto Group/Northline Utilities 50-lap feature. His rivals will include Chris Perley of Rowley, Mass., the all-time winningest driver in ISMA history, Ted Christopher of Plainville, Conn., the all-time win leader at Stafford Speedway and a five-time winner at New Hampshire Motor Speedway on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, last year’s runner-up Justin Belfiore of Haverhill, Mass., Mike Lichty of Innerkip, ONT, Tim Jederzjek of Independence, OH and Rob Summers of Vernon, Conn.

 

Summers turned the fastest lap in Airborne history, 14.023 seconds (119 mph) during his qualifying heat last year.

 

Post time Saturday is 6 p.m. The Versatile Trailer Sales Renegades, NAPA Auto Parts Mini Modifieds and Busch Bombers will also be in action.

 

Grandstands open at 3 p.m. Admission is $22/adults, kids 12 and under admitted free. Post time - 6 p.m.
