ACT INTERNATIONAL 500 FULL OF RIVALRIES

(Credit Alan Ward) For Immediate Release ACT 500–070213-42 Waterbury, VT – Veteran teams from both sides of the American Canadian Tour (ACT) racing borders are being challenged by dynamic young teams in 2013. The ACT International 500, which will be held at Airborne Speedway in Plattsburgh, NY the weekend of July 20/21 will re-establish old rivalries between the US and Canada, and new rivalries between veteran favorites and brash new-comers from both the US and Quebec-based ACT organizations. Leading the US veterans to the richest race in the history of ACT is a long list of Champions. Defending and current point leader Wayne Helliwell, Jr. from Dover, NH, and eight (8) time ACT champion Brian Hoar, Williston, VT will return to competition. The hottest driver currently on the US Tour, Joey Polewarczyk, Jr. (Pole), Hudson, NH, is the youngest of the veterans to enter the mid-summer event. Three-time Airborne ACT Champion Brent Dragon, Milton, VT, and Barre Vermont's favorite son, and reigning "King of the Road'' at Thunder Road Speedbowl, Nick Sweet are just a few of the veterans who will look to win the posted $25,000 winner's share of the rich one day event. One of the biggest surprises of the year is ACT Série competitor Patrick Cliche from St-Jean-Chrysostome, QC. Cliche has charged to the front of the 2013 Série in Quebec to challenge for wins in both events contested. Cliche has led the most laps at the Circuit Riverside Speedway event earlier this Spring, and in the recent 250 lap event at Autodrome Montmagny outside Quebec City. Cliche joins ACT Quebec veterans Donald Theetge andJean François Déry who have each scored wins in the first two events of the early season. Leading the newcomer charge is second year Late Model contender Jimmy Hebert from Williamstown, VT. Hebert was a first time winner on opening day at the Lee USA Speedway in April. "This should be one of the most exciting races ever run on the American Canadian Tour. The "Milk Bowl"-type format is really fun and with the three and four wide passing at Airborne, it is flat out racing the way I like it," said Hebert. He currently is second in the ACT Championship chase. Joining Hebert is another newcomer to the ACT Late Model racing tour. Rookie of the Year contender Bobby Therrien from Hinesburg, VT will drive the Subway Fast One Motorsports entry at the International 500. Therrien is a former Thunder Road Champion who has steadily shown progress in his first season in ACT Late Model racing. He currently leads the Rookie of the Year point standings over Travis Stearns from Auburn, ME. The International 500 is featuring a Monza-style twin 50-lap Airborne Modified feature event, a 100-lap non-qualifier "Reserve Feature" for ACT Late Model teams who do not qualify for the main event. Both events will post over $20,000.00 in purse and prize money. The 40 lucky teams who qualify for the "Milk Bowl"-style feature will run three 100-lap inverted races that make up the 300. A minimum of $25,000.00 to the overall winner in the unique event has been posted. Reserve tickets are on sale now at www.acttour.com. The first of the Airborne Asphalt Dirt Modified Twin 50 features will take place Saturday, July 20. The Mods will finish their eventon Sunday, July 21, 2013 when the ACT Late Models will run the richest race in the 27-year history of the American Canadian Tour.
