Mohawk Casino 100 up for grabs at Airborne
For immediate release AS-091011-1 South Plattsburgh, NY – The largest DIRTcar Modified field of the season is expected for today’s $3,000-to-win Akwesasne Mohawk Casino 100 at Airborne Speedway. The longest race of the season will pit 2011 Ernie’s Discount Tools Modified champion Martin Roy of Napierville, QC, George Foley and Patrick Dupree of Saranac Lake, Vince Quenneville of Brandon, VT and Andy Heywood of Morrisonville against top-notch invaders including Brett Hearn of Vernon, NJ, last year’s 100-lap finale winner Todd Stone of Middlebury, VT and Mike Perrotte. |
Perrotte will drive the Adirondack Auto No. 35 Big Block Modified, which turned some of the fastest lap times during yesterday’s practice. Airborne regular Pierre Berthiaume of Joliette QC also ran a Big Block and was quick in practice, but tire wear over the extra-distance could become a factor. Speedy Bresette of Plattsburgh and his cousin, Johnmichael Bresette of Keeseville claimed the NAPA Mini Modified and Busch Bomber track titles respectively in yesterday’s action, which included qualifying for the Sportsmen and Renegades. Josh Leclaire of Plattsburgh won the Mini Modified feature handily in the Ernie’s Discount Tools/Mt. Valley Integrated Solutions No.7. Erick Sayles of Saranac Lake finished second. Kris Clark of Keeseville was third. When the apparent Bomber winner weighed in too light in post-race inspection, Bill Joyal Sr. landed his first win. Tyler Bresette, Johnmichael Bresette, Ray Germain and Chad Hendrie completed the top five. Robin Wood of Plattsburgh enters today’s action having already clinched the 2011 J&S Steel Sportsman title – his second in a row. Kevin Boutin of Fairfax, VT is poised to repeat as Renegade champion. Today’s 100-lap DIRTcar Modified event is named the Charley Trombley Memorial Big Block/Smal Block Challenge 100 in honor of the late multi-time track champion from Mooers Forks, NY. Thirty tickets to the Whelen Modified/ACT/Camping World Truck event at New Hampshire Motor Speedway as well as the NASCAR Sprint Cup Sylvania 300 event September 24, 25 will be awarded courtesy of Move That Block.com. Grandstands open at 11 a.m. Post time is 1 p.m. Adult admission is $18. |
