Son frère Jean-François Dumoulin a croisé le fil d’arrivée en 17e position. La course a été ponctuée de trois drapeaux jaunes, neutralisant la course pendant 14 des 35 tours complétés. Le Québécois Andrew Ranger, de Roxton Pond, a remporté l’épreuve. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin est remonté en septième place après avoir pris le départ en 11e. | PRESS RELEASE (For Immediate Release) HONDA INDY : SEVENTH PLACE FOR LOUIS-PHILIPPE DUMOULIN Dumoulin Competition ready for the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières Toronto, June 9th, 2011 – Louis-Philippe Dumoulin finished in seventh position on Saturday in the NASCAR Canadian Tire series’ Honda Indy of Toronto. His brother Jean-François Dumoulin crossed the finish line in 17th position. The race was neutralised three times which forced the field behind the safety car during 14 of the 35 laps of the race. Quebecker Andrew Ranger, of Roxton Pond, won the race. Louis-Philippe Dumoulin managed to come back in seventh place after starting in 11th. |
Quelques ennuis l’ont forcé à retraiter aux puits prématurément en qualifications, l’empêchant de réaliser son tour rapide. Pour le Trifluvien, il s’agit d’un deuxième top-10 en trois épreuves en série NASCAR Canadian Tire, au volant de sa voiture n°47 NAPA 200/Super 8. «On voulait sauvegarder la voiture pour être capable de finir en force. Il y a eu une neutralisation en fin de course et ça payé, puisque j’ai dépassé cinq voitures au dernier tour!», lance Louis-Philippe Dumoulin. Jean-François Dumoulin a connu différents problèmes de moteur cette fin de semaine. Parti en 20e place, il a effectué une remontée jusqu’en 13e place au 15e tour. Il a su éviter par la suite d’importants accrochages devant lui. Il termine finalement en 17e place sur 33 voitures inscrites. «On faisait une bonne course, mais au dernier départ, j’ai été ralenti par un retardataire. Puis, deux compétiteurs ont fait un tête à queue devant moi, j’ai dû ralentir considérablement pour éviter le carambolage», explique le pilote de la voiture n°04 Bellemare, Jean-François Dumoulin. Dumoulin Compétition a su compter sur le support de trois nouveaux partenaires pour l’événement de Toronto : Ian Willis, ingénieur, de l’équipe AIM Autosport, Speedy Transport, en collaboration avec Manac, ainsi que le NAPA 200 de Montréal, qui aura lieu le 20 août prochain sur le circuit de l’Île Notre-Dame. Les deux pilotes et instructeurs professionnels sont fin prêts pour le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières. Ils seront de retour devant leurs fans, partenaires, famille et amis les 5, 6 et 7 août prochain. Jean-François et Louis- Philippe Dumoulin clôtureront leur fin de semaine à Toronto demain, alors qu’ils seront instructeurs en série Ferrari Challenge. -30- | Some mechanical issues forced him back in the pits early in qualifying and he was never able to record the fast lap he was hoping for. Jean-François Dumoulin experienced several problems with his engine during the course of the weekend. From 20th at the start, he managed to make his way to a 13th position on lap 15. He then avoided several accidents in front of him to finish the race in 17th place on a 33 cars field. “We made a good race, but on the last restart, I have been slown down by a lapped car. Then two cars spin off just in front of me so I had to slow down considerably not to hit them' explained the Bellemare 04 car driver, Jean-Francois Dumoulin. Dumoulin Competition had the support of three new sponsors during the Toronto event: Ian Willis, engineer of the AIM Motorsport Team, Speedy Transport, in collaboration with Manac, and the NAPA 200 of Montreal that will take place on August 20th, 2011, on the Notre-Dame Island’s track. The two drivers and professional race instructors are now ready for the Grand Prix of Trois-Rivières. They will be back in front of their fans, partners, family and friend on August 5, 6 and 7. Jean-François and Louis- Philippe Dumoulin will conclude their weekend in Toronto tomorrow when their will perform their instructor duty in the Ferrari Challenge. -30- |
